Turok 2 is cool. 3 is not

      >3 is not

turok 3 is just turok 2 gameplay with level design that isn't a pile of spaghetti + half-life theme levels (and a turok 1 homage level too)

i genuinely enjoy the first one and i fricking hate 2. the levels feel like they were designed by some crpg sperg who felt the need to copy paste fricking everything for his dungeons

Haven't played 3 yet, but I'm planning on playing it in future.
2 starts of nice in first 2-3 levels but kinda becomes boring at times yet not terribly boring. I'm glad I played it at the same time I wouldn't recommend it to others yet I'd recommend it for my self. I'd say the same about the first game. Second game does somethings better than first, but first game is a lot different that other FPS games so it's more interesting that second game on that.
Especially for second game you have to play remaster. I wouldn't have finished it without level indicators on where to go.

Sorry for giving such a shitty recommendation. It's very hard to recommend Turok games.

Turok 2 is pretty good. It's not as good overall as the first one, but it's amazing in some ways.

    >best graphics on the N64
    >AI is legit good
    >tons of weapons and secondary functions
    >gory as frick
    >great physics
    >large LARGE mazy levels
    >hard as frick, not forgiving at all

If you like the oldschool FPS from the Doom era, and just want more complex weapons and combat, while still keeping the simple key gathering through mazy levels, this is pretty much the peak, especially for that era.

Personally I prefer the original since it had a better framrate, I liked the more dinosaur themed enemies and levels. By the fourth level in Turok 2 the game just becomes a chore to play. The original Turok might have some similar levels in themes, but it gradually gets more complex and hard as you go along and doesn't get too overwhelming. It's just a tighter package overall.

as far as console fps go they are good
compared to pc fps they are below average

With the remaster's smoother controls and FPS, they can definitely stand up there with PC shooters of the era.

The level design in 2 is just awful.

Levels are a fricking slog but the combat and especially the death animations are so god damn satisfying.

Turok 2 is almost a masterpiece but they went a bit too far with the level sizes, enemy attack speed and maze like level design by the last few levels. Turok 3 was rushed as hell and really short and unpolished as a result. Turok Evolution is even more rushed and unpolished and it's a shame because it was the game with the most potential out of all of them. At least the GBA game is a good Metal Slug clone. One can only imagine how good these games could have been if Acclaim weren't the publisher.

I played 2 with the waypoint markers and still almost got filtered. the level design is,,, interesting and you need to backtrack through a bunch of levels which I didn't mind but I was using a guide. I cannot imagine myself beating this as a 12 year old. 3 is worth playing because you can bang it out in a couple hours. Evolution is great in my memories but I can't say because the PC port is so busted so I can't replay. Didn't play the 360 slop. Game Boy versions, no idea.

The version with waypointing is the remaster, in which Nightdive also streamlined the level design, specifically in lair of the blind ones where they closed a bunch of loops that you would get lost going in circles in and made it more linear (to its benefit). I've played through the original game once as a kid and I've beaten the remaster twice, I remember being lost in LotBO for hours as a kid but even without waypointing on the remaster it wasn't that bad (though my navigational awareness in old dungeon crawlers and stuff that I've played since probably helps a lot).

I'm usually really good at map navigation but turok 2 throws me through a loop. when I was a kid I used to play with all the cheats enabled and just run around lost

Turok 2's multiplayer was WAY better than Goldeneye. So many, many great hours spent with friends and family on it.
