Yeah, he did it pretty well in MGSV as I recall but in Death Stranding he turned "taking a shower, shit, or piss" into gameplay dynamics. Especially before you get more powerful weaponry, you can at least for a moment BTFO invincible ghost enemies with your bath water, piss grenades, shit grenades, so it behooves you to shower, and use the facilities every time you're in a safe room/home base to refill your nade stash. Also you can piss in the field and it has like 10 different effects depending on who or what you're pissing on.
of the three only the poop grenade is useful, since it attracts BTs to the spot you throw it to bunch them up for a nice grenade
there’s a secret bloody piss grenade if you rest and pee after lowering Sam’s max stamina to below 20%, which has whatever the pee grenade does on top of dealing the damage of a regular blood grenade
not like any of it really matters because once you get the blood gun and grenade pouches BTs are a joke
