Are there any good alternate history games? Hoi4 is about the closest I can think of.

Surprised I never heard of this, especially since it was on the gamecube.
All the alternative history paths and minor countries fricking suck in hoi4 because how you get a peace deal is so frustrating. Like if you want to play Turkey and do the Ottomans and get back the Middle East you are locked into this eternal war that probably involves invading Britain, America, India and Canada or Germany, Italy and Japan. Should just work like ck where you occupy land and fight until war exhaustion happens and then get to take the land you wanted in the peace deal.
Hoi4 is a slog late game, it's why I play mods instead of vanilla.
it honestly astounds me HOI4 has remained relevant for so long even with mods due to the simple fact its late game content is practically unplayable or the fact every war barring a few scripted ones (which are themselves broken from time to time) is always some sort of all out war that only ends with unconditional surrender, I get it was like that was WW2 which is simulates but that doesn't have to be the case of every single war in that game
Red Alert is the only thing that comes to my mind Mods like TNO or Red Flood need to consider making separate games
What is red flood even about?
iirc Russia wins the Russo-Jap war and reforms, thus being more prepared for WW1. Britain stays neutral because of this and France is stomped. From there the mod can be best thought of as "what if this event went in the opposite direction" so that gives you Communist Germany & Hungary, a still living Franz Ferdinand, and various other random shit plus some original ideas like Accelerationism
Sounds like the troony and chud devs can't tardwrangle in their autism. Kaiserreich is the only borderline acceptable alt history entry, and that's because it goes off the rule of cool.
Alternate history is best when it focuses small scale on a single event. Like that novel about if MacArthur used nukes in the Korean war, or if the invasion of the Japanese homeland happened during World War II.
Red Flood tries the Rule of Cool, to be as weird and over the top as possible
Hoi4 fricking sucks
Sometimes
That's cool, does it have any American content?
Civil war with lots of weird factions
>independent mormons
>revived csa
these are literally the most common tropes in balkanized US maps
Red Flood flips between being super tropey and being unique in it's own way
You fricking suck, homosexual. Don't reply to me.
It's an alterante history game, but it's not good.
It's all moronic meme shit like fricking restoration of Byzantium in the 20th century or of Poland-Lithuania. It's all just nonsensical bullshit designed specifically for heckin' epic YT videos and screenshots to share.
Also the game itself is fricking moronic. Just play HoI3 and mod your own railroaded alt history.
There's the nu-Wolfenstein games with the "nazis won" timeline I guess.
No one mentioned crimson skies yet? C’mon Ganker, you’ll letting me down
Paradigm Worlds
>all forms of biological life were effectively wiped out in the 2050s by a mix of viral warfare, widespread genetic manipulation, occult magics and nuclear fire
>fast forward 5000 years and the world sees new life born from the very viruses that cleansed the planet mixed with fungus
>you can decide to play from the start, halfway through and the far future where the world is ruled by an AI run corporation
>all while a god born from that very virus grows in strength by each passing day threatening to wipe it all again
Isn't that a mount and blade mod?
Most of them always have it like this, almost every one changes the name a bit to try and be original. Even Kaiserreich does it, but at least the American Union State is different in the way it is governed than the actual CSA was.
Yeah and its pretty wild. Tactics seem to go out the window when everyone is capable of sprinting across the battlefield in half a minute. Still haven't met the endgame demons yet.
Red Alert series.
Id buy a TWR cod(-like) game.
the setting really grabs me, but im too much of a brainlet for HOI.
Would much rather something like The New Order, that is the bomb as far as settings go
I personally prefer TWR, i like the more fragile germany and the admission the the victory the nazis wanted was ultimately a fantasy.
Depending on which path you go down that happens beat for beat in TNO, Heydrich for example has a path like that which honestly has a upsetting ending
I know, but its far more fragile in TWR.
