    not really.
    first game was awesome.
    second game was consolized.

i know that looking glass, back in the stone age, was building a "james bond"-esque game based on their thief 1/2 platform but it never got past the alpha stage. i think there are some levels floating around but that's about it. i think that there was also a fan effort (many years ago) to sort of 're-create' that game but, obviously, that has probably ceased t this point.

How are metal gear games compared to NOLF?

Not similar at all, I'd say.
Even the style of wackiness is very different, since NOLF does not take itself seriously at all.

      >first game was awesome
      >second game was consolized
this doesn't even make any sense, the 2nd game was only on pc while the first game had a PS2 port

I've never even heard of this, is it any good?

People are still talking about it to this day, so I'd day it had something memorable going for it.

it's a really really fun game
The whole thing is about "whacky super-spy antics in the 50s" with a big scoop of tonge-in-cheek thrown in.
The gameplay itself can be classified as "stealth game". The characters are a lot of fun, the soundtrack fits really well.

It is truly a shame that the IP licensing is stuck in "no one knows where the damn paperwork is" limbo, a NOFL3 would have been amazing.

        >super-spy antics in the 50s
The games clearly take place in the 60's.

Yes, and it's free, so you can just try them out for yourself.

Honestly? Not really. You can get bits and pieces, but not the combination of humor, story and gameplay.
Weirdly the closest I can think of might be The Nameless Mod for deus ex. Immersive sim with a story that doesn't take itself too seriously, but still has engaging gameplay.

Back then it was seen as a silly joke
Today we see it as a prophecy

I honestly can't tell these days if this is irony or if you genuinely don't see how this actual virgin larping as a meme version of the super macho spy archetype is a parody of it.

Are there any games that do that swinging 60's googie theme?
I know we happy few exists but isn't it kinda bad?

Why did Cate's accent change from a sort of posh Scottish in the first game to a more generic English in the second?

    So Ganker, NOLF1 or NOLF2?

Overall I think 1st one was much more thrilling but 2nd one was more solid. But I don't get why did they remove the option to choose missions/gears. Not to mention they didn't put acid spray (Which was my favorite gear) in second one

They're both great, but the second game is my favourite of the two. It found its feet by the second one, it's a bit more solid as a game.
Really underrated games, nobody ever mentions them in their lists of FPSs, and it's a shame.
