Critical Mode was a free update and has a default ability for it.
ReMind is paid and has a second way of doing it.
And keep in mind, there's only a few times where you have to use them. You can ignore them in normal battle.
BBS is probably the only KH game I never want to touch again. I played every other one that got rereleased, and even went back to try CoM and liked both versions more than that piece of shit. I'd play KH3 on PC, but frick EGS.

Dark Road sucks because it's story was rushed and cut short, despite being advertised as the Xehanort backstory game and now Nomura's trying it again in Ever Crises with Sephiroth.
Bonus bad depending on your tastes. Melody of Memories. The story is almost non existent in it and depending on if you like rhythm games or not will make you love it or hate it.

I would've definitely plunked down like $10-20 for a complete pack of battle and field themes for 3 and the mobile games (including field stages for those already in). Possibly more for the worlds they left out, assuming copyright wasn't the only reason.
They don't even need to be in the story mode, just drop them in free play or whatever.

I much preffer mindless grind for abilities instead of playing the tamagotchi, but Sora and Riku are vastly more fun to follow around than the BBS trio so that alone makes it more enjoyable to me. Besides, any game with playable riku is instantly based.
Unrelated but seeing Riku with Way to Dawn pisses me off now because what they replaced it with in KH3

If you actually look at the combat of BBS closely you can tell somebody at some point thought about it, unlike DDD. Some of the choices in 3D are truly baffling and there really isn't anything like that in BBS and there are even a couple things where certain enemies might actually have real AI instead of just acting randomly like they do in a lot of the games after 2.
Days is the only game I don't real have a desire to revisit. There's some good moments but the whole mission structure makes it hard to enjoy when you already know the twists ahead of time. The manga was pretty funny though.

Now every strategy that involved removing their cards from play is no longer usable, and as the fights get drawn out you'll find that they still have their full decks even if they spammed a gorillion sleights in the past hour.
The bigger issue is that Re:CoM changed so much of the game's combat due to it being a weirdo KH1/KH2 hodge podge slapped together super quick, and it shows if you played both versions. >Summons and Friends are really slow, Simba would do his attack instantly in GBA but in Re: he will waste a huge amount of time to play out a walk cycle and a startup animation before attacking, enough time for 17 enemy cards to card break him. >Flying enemies abuse the new high ceiling to constantly be out of range >Ranged attacks have far less range, fireballs also have broken tracking and aren't guaranteed to hit >The aforementioned camera combined with lock-on dropping if an enemy gets behind you really fast (which is often in certain Org 13 fights)

The original doesn't even HAVE tracking and spells would constantly fricking miss because of it, good luck hitting an aerial opponent with anything but thunder. Your complaint about summons and friends is absolutely moronic. It encourages you to use them in a sleight so they're not just free area wide damage that trivializes your other cards. Friends especially make perfect sense to be this way because they're literal free cards that will always continue to drop. You can just tack a friend card on to a summon and get the benefit of both without losing a card from your deck. Something you're actually capable of doing easily in Re: due to the addition of a sleight button. In the original you would have had to scroll all the way to your reload card to make a 2 card sleight, making this a highly infeasible strategy. It's always bizarre to me seeing people completely forget how annoying the deck cycling mechanics were in the original. Re: adds a shortcut to go straight to your reload card and one you can set yourself so you can easily maneuver the deck.
Before you try to "gotcha" with the homing sleights, those are fricking awful. No reason to use those when you could just use cards that will work normally, or a better sleight like Sonic Blade, etc.

No matter what you say, base KH2 being well-received is an objective fact. A couple console war trolls on IGN doesn't change that. Won GOTY. Had very high reviews, all from people who did not play the FM version. No need to get angry at the truth.
A lot of them are just pattern recognition. Lexaeus as an example is one of the easiest ones to get a grip on, and nearly all of his attacks get circumvented by dodge roll and guard. A lot of the other ones are similar cases, but throwing reflega in there guarantees damage too.
Data Saix was such a disappointment, literally just story Saix with more health. I genuinelly don't understad how anyone can struggle with him. You learn the block > catch and that's it, gg you just mastered the entire fight.

Having played every one in the series including dumb phone games (all of them), I’ve come to realize that my, our, perception of KH was skewed by our age and the games of the times. KH and KH2 had kino moments for a 13 year old. But the games don’t feel the same as an adult. Meanwhile, Chain of Memories on either system turned out to be the best in the whole series, while it wasn’t understood by many on release cause it was different. CoM was a big deal, and had a seemingly “original” combat system which broke the button mashing and “hit triangle” you get in the mainline games.
KH3 was a huge disappointment for me mostly because it took so long to come up with a cringefest that required you played all the other off shoots to actually know what the hell was going on.
DDD and Days are the only ones I outright can't stand. I'd probably argue that I'm not a big fan of BBS either, but I have come back to it multiple times. Never did super bosses though, mostly because I was bored by the time I got to the secret episodes and finished them. Plus the idea of having to 100% mini game bullshit with every character makes me not want to do it.
KH3 was incredibly disappointing. I enjoy all the autistic storytelling throughout the games and KH3 had zero story to speak of besides the end sequence which was really a very typical way to wrap things up for the arc

When comparing 2FM's data fights to remind I wonder if people just completely pidgeon-hole the fact that 2FM has Zexion and fricking Vexen. If you ever see anyone defend the garbage that is Vexen don't engage with them because they have brain damage.
I'm fine with Zexion and Vexen. The ones I avoid when boss rushing are Demyx and Luxord. Demyx because his gimmick takes up too much of the fight to the point that it feels like you're just following a script and Luxord because dealing with his DM is annoying.
I got the game on release but ended up playing it once Critical Mode and ReMind were out. I'm glad I did so, because Pro Codes and stuff kept the game interesting.
Then I had a blast learning and beating the data battles once I got to them (with all codes, hitless, blah blah). I even recorded them and I enjoy looking at them from time to time tbh, most of the fights are very nice. Finding (sometimes esoteric) ways to bypass the different attacks was a kewl process.
Kingdom Hearts still has my favorite gameplay of anything ever. Say whatever you want about the story and the disney shit. Insane that nobody has tried to copy the gameplay. Also the music is god tier.

Cool but if you were there you would know that we were disappointed with KH2 just like people were disappointed with 3. FM was a godsend and made KH2 amazing. KH3 is still kinda shit even after the dlc but thankfully mods helped it. I hope KH4 is just good from the start but knowing square I shouldn't even bother with it until they release the dlc a year later.

Dont think I could have ever beat many of the Data fights without the emergency Limit form ability and its attacks that make you invulnerable.
A lot of them are just pattern recognition. Lexaeus as an example is one of the easiest ones to get a grip on, and nearly all of his attacks get circumvented by dodge roll and guard. A lot of the other ones are similar cases, but throwing reflega in there guarantees damage too.
Data Saix was such a disappointment, literally just story Saix with more health. I genuinelly don't understad how anyone can struggle with him. You learn the block > catch and that's it, gg you just mastered the entire fight.

Having played every one in the series including dumb phone games (all of them), I’ve come to realize that my, our, perception of KH was skewed by our age and the games of the times. KH and KH2 had kino moments for a 13 year old. But the games don’t feel the same as an adult. Meanwhile, Chain of Memories on either system turned out to be the best in the whole series, while it wasn’t understood by many on release cause it was different. CoM was a big deal, and had a seemingly “original” combat system which broke the button mashing and “hit triangle” you get in the mainline games.
KH3 was a huge disappointment for me mostly because it took so long to come up with a cringefest that required you played all the other off shoots to actually know what the hell was going on.

DDD and Days are the only ones I outright can't stand. I'd probably argue that I'm not a big fan of BBS either, but I have come back to it multiple times. Never did super bosses though, mostly because I was bored by the time I got to the secret episodes and finished them. Plus the idea of having to 100% mini game bullshit with every character makes me not want to do it.
KH3 was incredibly disappointing. I enjoy all the autistic storytelling throughout the games and KH3 had zero story to speak of besides the end sequence which was really a very typical way to wrap things up for the arc

garbage, only good worlds were pixar worlds. the post release addition of critical mode and the ability to turn off attractions made the game a lot better, A LOT better. can't call it an outright bad game now, but it's kinda shitty that you have to turn things off from the default to make the game playable.

When comparing 2FM's data fights to remind I wonder if people just completely pidgeon-hole the fact that 2FM has Zexion and fricking Vexen. If you ever see anyone defend the garbage that is Vexen don't engage with them because they have brain damage.
I'm fine with Zexion and Vexen. The ones I avoid when boss rushing are Demyx and Luxord. Demyx because his gimmick takes up too much of the fight to the point that it feels like you're just following a script and Luxord because dealing with his DM is annoying.

I got the game on release but ended up playing it once Critical Mode and ReMind were out. I'm glad I did so, because Pro Codes and stuff kept the game interesting.
Then I had a blast learning and beating the data battles once I got to them (with all codes, hitless, blah blah). I even recorded them and I enjoy looking at them from time to time tbh, most of the fights are very nice. Finding (sometimes esoteric) ways to bypass the different attacks was a kewl process.
Everything past 2 is shit.
