FF11 had some remake mobile version at some point but it was canned. FF11 is still profitable but sadly 11 and 14 won't get the dq10 treatment as long as they are that profitable
I also dislike the sub fees, they should let you buy the full game then don't play online
i don't know how true that is. sounds counter-intuitive but FFXI being "profitable" isn't enough. it's about scale of economy. they still have to have some maintenance team and offices, etc. still have to maintain some ancient as frick network architecture and some rotting old PS2 devkit.
you could put a mobile game team in that space and make 100x the money of FFXI. i'm sure they'd love an excuse to just pull it. at this point they are at least willing to just put up with it, and eat the opportunity cost, for the sake of fan loyalty and not pissing us off.
they really should bite the bullet and put together a UI update + server emulation version for offline+P2P use, before its too late.
They got like literally 7 people working on the game and every time they need to implement something substantial they borrow engineers from the main team working on XIV. It'll be fine, the player base is well dedicated as it's not the kind of experience you can get anywhere else.
Horizon is great, I wish I wasn't busy with finals so I'd have more time to play it. XI's summoner is way too much fun, even if unlocking the avatars is a pain in the ass

Barry is an autistic aussie who around 2015 decided that FF XV directed by Tabata was going to be the greatest game in the history of gaming and that the previous director Nomura was a hack.
The game was a financial and critical success, although user reaction ended up being mixed to negative, especially from older series fans. The criticism and lukewarm response to the initial DLCs for the game caused the final DLCs to be cancelled, and Hajime Tabata "resigned" from Square Enix. The development team was diminished and rolled into a seperate new company, Luminous Productions.
Shortly after Hajime Tabata "resigns", FF XIV's reboot becomes a major financial success, starting to rival WoW on the MMO market, and director/producer Naoki Yoshida is given the keys of an entire SE core Business Division and given a seat on the board of directors, as well as the reins over the new mainline FF title, FF XVI.
From that point onward, Barry, who was already an S tier known shitposter at that point, especially in Famitsu, Kingdom Hearts and DMC threads, starts his crusade against FFXIV, XVI and Naoki Yoshida, who he calls "Yoshitpiss". Luminous Productions announces their first title, Forspoken, in 2020, and a few months later the first (rushed) FFXVI trailer drops.

I'm only afraid that your average piss5 player (zoomer who bought a console for the first time ever) won't be into this type of medieval fantasy games with lots of politics and mature themes. younger generations suffer from ADHD and their attention span is abysmal so expecting them to be able to sit and watch something nuanced slowly unfolding is damn brave from square enix. for that reason 16 might end up as another financial failure or at best niche game which most of the old fans will probably blindly hate for being different (in this case having an action combat system) while some might see it in the similar light as some of us see ff12 which is a fricking masterpiece.

The tone of the gameplay is obvious and it's EPIK button mashing sandwiched by walking sequences and door opening QTEs which is right up sony's moviegame alley. I don't even get how you can argue that the tone is somehow off when they have first party developers working on it and they're modeling it after GoW.
we don't know much about the story besides some lore materials and geopolitics of the world, what nations are involved, what's specific about them and what is the major conflict driving the narrative. we also know that the game will be M rated which is very indicative of the type of player they want to sell this to, in this case that would be the fans of game of thrones or similar historical fiction shows and not your average cinematic movie game fan. 1st party sony games are very heavy on instant gratification and shallow, in your face themes that dumb people can enjoy just like all the marvel movies. tlou2 might be the rare exception because it's designed to make you angry instead but that's another topic. one thing that we know for sure is that just like all the other games in the series 16 will also be very much story focused with many hours of cutscenes and characters exchanging dialogues and what's shown so far hints at more mature, relatable, down to earth story with HEAVY emphasis on geopolitics and events that are much bigger than main character and his struggle. what I personally get from all the info we got so far is that the tone of the game and story will be a mix of ff12 and witcher 3 and I'm not sure marvel loving zombies on PS5 will like it in the numbers square and sony are hoping to. not realising this one on PC day 1 was a huge mistake. who knows maybe the rumors about sony buying them are true after all.
Every sony moviegame is M rated or higher so that's just pointless coping. Nothing about XVI screams "mature" and we already have a good idea of the pacing thanks to lengthy showcases.

They've stated multiple times, in interviews, that FF16 is Clive's story. The politics are only there for how it comes back to effect Clive. I don't think we're going to have a heavy political story here despite how the trailers presented it. Clive is detached from the whole political side unless he ends up reclaiming Rosaria, and suddenly has to become a leader.

that's easy to answer if you think about it. kingdom is ruled by a king and people accept that king, after the king dies his rightful heir will sit on the throne and people will accept that. dominants are humans just like you and not all are driven by power or want to rule the world but lets say that some of them are. what are their options? they could only use their power for massive destruction so ask yourself what would that achieve? you can kill the king but you will also destroy the kingdom and its people. even if you manage to spare people they will never accept you as their rightful ruler, you will be an usurper and they will hate you or rebel. smarter thing to do would be to serve the king and enjoy all the riches of the kingdom as well as the respect of its people because you have something important that the kings could use against other kingdoms or to protect his own.

There was a covid delay, otherwise (and also because of PS5 supply issues) the game would have launched last holidays.
They went gold two weeks ago though, seems they used the extra time for polish. No development restarts, no director changes, no deviations from the pre-development vision.

Your basic ranged attack is Fire/Blizzard/Stone/etc depending on the eikon equipped and can be charged into Fira/Blizzara/Stonera.

FF14 is basically single-player now. You can use AI for every dungeons and boss trial. Only hindrance is the sub free. Not sure if all of FFXI has Trusts though, although I know that's where it originated from.

FF11 had some remake mobile version at some point but it was canned. FF11 is still profitable but sadly 11 and 14 won't get the dq10 treatment as long as they are that profitable

i don't know how true that is. sounds counter-intuitive but FFXI being "profitable" isn't enough. it's about scale of economy. they still have to have some maintenance team and offices, etc. still have to maintain some ancient as frick network architecture and some rotting old PS2 devkit.
you could put a mobile game team in that space and make 100x the money of FFXI. i'm sure they'd love an excuse to just pull it. at this point they are at least willing to just put up with it, and eat the opportunity cost, for the sake of fan loyalty and not pissing us off.
they really should bite the bullet and put together a UI update + server emulation version for offline+P2P use, before its too late.
They got like literally 7 people working on the game and every time they need to implement something substantial they borrow engineers from the main team working on XIV. It'll be fine, the player base is well dedicated as it's not the kind of experience you can get anywhere else.

Barry is an autistic aussie who around 2015 decided that FF XV directed by Tabata was going to be the greatest game in the history of gaming and that the previous director Nomura was a hack.
The game was a financial and critical success, although user reaction ended up being mixed to negative, especially from older series fans. The criticism and lukewarm response to the initial DLCs for the game caused the final DLCs to be cancelled, and Hajime Tabata "resigned" from Square Enix. The development team was diminished and rolled into a seperate new company, Luminous Productions.
Shortly after Hajime Tabata "resigns", FF XIV's reboot becomes a major financial success, starting to rival WoW on the MMO market, and director/producer Naoki Yoshida is given the keys of an entire SE core Business Division and given a seat on the board of directors, as well as the reins over the new mainline FF title, FF XVI.
From that point onward, Barry, who was already an S tier known shitposter at that point, especially in Famitsu, Kingdom Hearts and DMC threads, starts his crusade against FFXIV, XVI and Naoki Yoshida, who he calls "Yoshitpiss". Holy shit, that laser isn't from Bahamut's Megaflare gauge, it's the Gigaflare ability in the bottom right. It must have an insanely huge cooldown. Please Anon, don't do this to me, there's no room for Bahamut in my Ramuh/Shiva/Odin setup.

we don't know much about the story besides some lore materials and geopolitics of the world, what nations are involved, what's specific about them and what is the major conflict driving the narrative. we also know that the game will be M rated which is very indicative of the type of player they want to sell this to, in this case that would be the fans of game of thrones or similar historical fiction shows and not your average cinematic movie game fan. 1st party sony games are very heavy on instant gratification and shallow, in your face themes that dumb people can enjoy just like all the marvel movies. tlou2 might be the rare exception because it's designed to make you angry instead but that's another topic. one thing that we know for sure is that just like all the other games in the series 16 will also be very much story focused with many hours of cutscenes and characters exchanging dialogues and what's shown so far hints at more mature, relatable, down to earth story with HEAVY emphasis on geopolitics and events that are much bigger than main character and his struggle. what I personally get from all the info we got so far is that the tone of the game and story will be a mix of ff12 and witcher 3 and I'm not sure marvel loving zombies on PS5 will like it in the numbers square and sony are hoping to. not realising this one on PC day 1 was a huge mistake. who knows maybe the rumors about sony buying them are true after all.

They've stated multiple times, in interviews, that FF16 is Clive's story. The politics are only there for how it comes back to effect Clive. it's a different art style combined with less detail. 7r's main character models are always going to look better than 16, but the average NPC's polygon count in 16 is going to be higher than the average NPC's poly count in 7r. 16's environments look miles more impressive than 7r's too graphically. it's just a matter of priorities and the difference in tech power between ps4 and 5.

I think one of the key features of Unreal 5 is map rendering via Gamebryo style cells. I don't know if Rebrith is on 5 but if it is there you go.
Because i was wondering if the trade to this XIV-like engine was even worth it, it seems to have the same problems UE4 had on ps4, but this one has on PS5 if we see how it still has lod issues. This is why im curious about how rebirth will deal with the same problems that XVI us facing right now.
