At least the age of smart delivery is coming to an end. If you had a Series X and wanted to buy a physical copy of a cross-gen game, then only the Xbox One version was actually on disc and you had to download the Series X version.
Then you had games like Hogwarts Legacy for XSX/PS5 that only had the prologue section in the disc, about 30gb of the entire 70gb game.
Smart Delivery is going away at a time when games are crossing the UHD Blu Ray storage threshold, so physicalgays are still fricked.

You can't blame third party developers for making PS4 games when there are more than 100m of those in the wild. You can however blame Sony for still releasing PS4 first party games instead of actually pushing the market to move forwards and adopt their latest product.
