I noticed I have more fun playing as a girl in games with character customization because girls are simply more fun to customize.

Reasons? Well, I played as boy because it was more immersive that way. But starting with B2W2, the boys turned into massive homosexuals and the girls turned into 10/10 fapping material (+ customization starting from XY allowed me to dress them in loose clothes), so I picked the girls in later games.
Despite being male in real life I actually find playing as May more immersive because she has a personality that matches mine better.

The self insertion issue seems to only be with white men. Literally no other kind of human cares about this thing.
I think it’s because girls didn’t really get to play as one until Gen 2 (Honestly Gen 3, no one is counting crystal), anyone brown didn’t get to play as a brown character until Gen 6, Gen 7 for those with darker skin.
Asians never care and will mostly pick the female just for being cute.
This is a problem solely for one group who got to self insert with a character like them since Gen 1. Literally no one else gives a shit and will play the character they like because they are used to playing with characters not like them by now.
