You can't play a lot of games that use anticheat like rust and I'm pretty sure apex legends, not sure why these guys are lying. It's Linux so check Linux game compatibility.
Why do Linux users delude themselves into thinking every game they can't play is just garbage? Yea some are obviously but it's clear you've never even played rust.
https://i.imgur.com/CTgVCTt.jpg
Are you able to play whatever you want on your Steam Deck even without installing Windows?
Also just remembered that game pass doesn't work on it I'm pretty sure, the games themselves do but I'm pretty sure they want you to use gamepass on windows not Linux.
>Why do Linux users delude themselves into thinking every game they can't play is just garbage?
Why do Windows shills fail at basic reasoning? If they really wanted to play the games that don't run on Linux, they wouldn't use Linux. Simple as. The fact that they're using Linux anyway means they don't want to play those games, at least not enough to bother with the very minor inconvenience of just using Windows which anyone can do. It's not like 1% of people just go "oh shit I accidentally installed Linux and there's no way to replace it with Windows because magic or something OH NOOOOOOOO". They install it on purpose because they decided it suits their needs, and if it doesn't suit their needs then they go back. Just like you should go back to Discord.
Windows runs like fricking shit on the deck you moron, look at what thread you are in and reread the op. It didn't even have audio when it came out. It's not an option for him to get windows, that's why he's on there, so he needs to know what games aren't payable on Linux
How the frick do you expect me to play Shadow Complex?

I was totally down to use EGS before they started doing that strongarm bullshit, but back then I was ignorant of just how bad the store was, to me it was a Unreal Tournament 4 launcher, but then they dicked that project over. Suffice to say, I no longer tolerate EGS, especially since now I know that Tim Sweeney is trying to twitter mob people into disliking other storefronts instead of trying to make their store better to the point that they don't need exclusivity deals. The fact that they thought it was more important to do that to the point that it took them 3 years to add a basic consumer oriented feature like a shopping cart tells me my game library is not safe with them in the long run and that when it comes to choosing between protecting my library and protecting themselves they'll choose themselves, meanwhile on Steam I was allowed to see how shit the game Hatred was for myself because steam didn't ultimately buckle under controversy.
If you're EGS exclusive, then you are in early access and thus not worth playing, yeah.
Something you don't seem to understand is that my wishlist can outpace whatever bullshit inconveniences developers/publishers try to put on me. We're being genuine when we say it's not worth our time until we're catered to, because your game is so easily replaceable it's not even funny.

>I generally stick to lower-end and older stuff
When it comes to lower end older stuff the experience is generally about the same or better.
Its really just the newest stuff with anti-cheat that plugs into the undocumented spyware functionality of the NT kernel in modern versions of Windows that causes problems. GNU/Linux can't/won't implement that sort of functionality for obvious reasons.

It was my own fault but the lack of actual support I got from GPD as a result of it combined with some of their other bullshit (like shipping the wrong wifi card in some peoples' Win 3s or shipping Windows preloaded with malware and the continued supply chain issues where people with valid warranties can't get service) has made me weary of them. They're not evolving their company to be worth what they're asking you to pay in a more competitive climate.

You're going to have to reinstall glibc though pacman since Valve ripped the Japanese (ja_JP.utf8) locale out and you're probably going to need to set LANG=ja_JP.utf8.
Also, I'd recommend using lutris with a shared prefix for all RPG Maker games rather than adding games to steam directly because otherwise you're going to have to install the RTPs over and over and over and over.
>You're going to have to reinstall glibc though pacman since Valve ripped the Japanese (ja_JP.utf8) locale out and you're probably going to need to set LANG=ja_JP.utf8.
Why would they do that? Are they racist against nihonjinn?
Based on what they left behind, they ripped out every locale the SteamOS UI doesn't currently support or have translations for. Which also happens to correspond to what regions the steam deck is currently being sold in.
You set LANG=ja_JP.utf8 to use Japanese locale per-program on Linux, anon. That said, you need to actually have a Japanese locale installed on the system.
WINE/Proton is not windows - you absolutely cannot use shit like locale emulator.

just pirate them normally then run them through steam proton, EZ, you can even even add them into your library to use them through steam!

heh nothin personnel kid

why would you install pirated games to root-owned system folders?

koikatsu runs just fine via lutris (manual entry with no tweaks needed)
use wine or non-steam game adding
yes
question: is it bad if while docked my deck slowly loses battery despite being connected to its charger? i know it's because of the extra power draw of the SSD i connected to the dock, but does this hurt the battery?

Yeah, everything but pic related. Can't get XNA to install correctly, or something. Anyone else here have better luck?
Your first line of attack should always be to use GE-Proton if it's a steam game or Wine-GE if it's not, if that fails, then idk
Yes

i want to emulate pc98 games on deck
wat do
this
Neko Project II
You're going to have to reinstall glibc though pacman since Valve ripped the Japanese (ja_JP.utf8) locale out and you're probably going to need to set LANG=ja_JP.utf8.
Also, I'd recommend using lutris with a shared prefix for all RPG Maker games rather than adding games to steam directly because otherwise you're going to have to install the RTPs over and over and over and over.

Why would they do that? Are they racist against nihonjinn?
Based on what they left behind, they ripped out every locale the SteamOS UI doesn't currently support or have translations for. Which also happens to correspond to what regions the steam deck is currently being sold in.
why can't I just emulate the locale?
You set LANG=ja_JP.utf8 to use Japanese locale per-program on Linux, anon. That said, you need to actually have a Japanese locale installed on the system.
WINE/Proton is not windows - you absolutely cannot use shit like locale emulator.
i want to play untranslated rgmaker hentai games on deck
hwat do
No
>picking a game for which ProtonDB clearly says "No reports yet on Steam Deck" and even including that in the screenshot
lol
lmao
I'm not saying it works on Steam Deck but you could have at least picked a game with Steam Deck reports confirming it. Absolutely no way I'd pay you for that post if I were your manager at Microsoft or Epic Games.
>dude you can do whatever you want
>pirates old nintendo games
fricking shit system
Most games worth playing are old. What games do you want to play?
Post your favorite game so we can laugh.
Bonus laughs if it runs on Steam Deck.
>we can laugh
Nobody thinks you are funny
Where is the best place to get ROMs for Dolphin?
