There used to be a shit ton and the online games were so lively but yeah its pretty much died out since mark zukerberg killed it with all this metaverse shit
>I think it's a stupid technology
Its objectively not. the dream of VR is probably asa old as video game themselves, its actually very logical for devices like Quest or Vive to exist
Standalone headsets with vendor-locked software are e-waste for pod-dwellers. I'm holding out hope for Deckard to at least be a Linux thin-client that I will actually be able to purchase and own, if not a PCVR headset.
Probably closer to 3-5. Depends on how long it takes for them to get their shit together on the software side of things.

Play Resident Evil 4 on Wii and then do it in VR and tell me which is cooler you fricking moron.
Vr doesnt have to create new kind of games, it has to make a specific group >First Person
more immersive. Shame the most popular headset is a weak piece of shit with android hardware
Yeah sure it's a cheap thrill.
Like to use it with my wheel.
A higher res would be nice.
I don't use it for movies or anything and I usually don't have space to walk around in VR.
Not in a rush to get it.
Maybe. I can sell my Quest 2 for pretty much the same price I bought it for and then add a bit extra and buy this thing. I'll wait to see how it turns out first, main thing appealing to me is the slimmed down form factor so the weight is distributed closer to your face which makes it less cumbersome.
If I had a lot of money I'd get a bigscreen beyond.
I have a rift s. Might get a Q3 just for watching movies because of the better comfort and resolution, and replaying a couple of games wirelessly. Probably my PC isn't good enough to run alyx with a 3060ti at that resolution but I just want to consoom for the short dopamine rush anyway.
No but you do need a meta account and they also force a horizons account on you (which is their vr social media thing that no one uses) although it's pretty easy to ignore.
You need to give them access to your mobile phone and number
Do they? I don't remember giving them mine when I was setting it up, although I did have a fairly unorthodox journey through the setup.
I played the TF2 mod on contractors yesterday and it was quite a blast.
Most of the mechanics translate very well. All it's really missing is more maps and the spy as a class.
Rocketjumping even works pretty well and I've seen some kids just fly around the map and just bonk people with melee weapons like the real thing.
Man I'd love to talk or just listen to an interview with the current VR devs at Valve to see what they're doing but they're so secretive about it.
I sincerely hope they learned from Alyx and won't give us another slow paced teleport slop. Who knows, maybe all the key people with terrible opinion about VR game mechanics all left when they saw it wasn't gonna blow up like they thought it would and their current team are pure enthusiast with strong vr legs.
One can dream...
i want to put 200 hours into skyrim VR but the amount of troubleshooting and 255 load limit is killing me
I've been using the FUS modlist and I think I'm only at 170 active mods. I didn't do anything too crazy with adding new ones. Only random titty sizes and body sizes for npcs and maximum carnage for that sweet gore.
>another slow paced teleport slop
Anon, most people get motion sickness, they're not going to spend all that time and money of a game that only a small group of hard core VR players can even play
I got motion sick but I powered through it in like a week of forcing myself to play VR. I'm not saying everyone should as well but I'm thinking that teleport, vignette and all that snake oil to alleviate issues should be added accessibility options that people OPT-IN.
I really don't like the ideas of games getting designed first and foremost as experiences where you don't move at all or move by teleporting. Hell, people get motion sickness from playing VR sim racing at the beginning because the cars/planes move so fast it fricks up with your perception of it and yet since the games are just great games by design people overlook it or power through it and keep playing.
I would second this. Make a good game first and add in accessibility options next. While not ideal, there are a lot of games that could get away with having an optional teleport without loosing a lot from the experience. All first person shooters should be find unless they are specifically focused on movement. I could even picture a 3rd person platformer working where the camera location teleports along with the character kind of like the old Resident Evil games, but you can still freely look around.
>people get motion sickness from playing VR sim racing at the beginning because the cars/planes move so fast
The problem here is acceleration and particularly rotational acceleration, not speed. While moving at a constant speed there is no disconnect from what your body is feeling since you actually should not be feeling anything no matter the speed. If you play the Quake or Doom mods, your character almost instantly shoots up to top speed and it doesn't feel much worse than slower shooters. However, a longer acceleration curve and turning is a fundamental part of racing games that is unavoidable. When people say that vehicle games are the only ones that work in VR, I just assume they have never tried VR since it feels incredibly unnatural at first and somehow even more unrealistic than controlling a character on foot. They are still fun regardless, but you just have to give up recreating the real thing and enjoy it for what it is like every other VR game.
I'm using FUS too and even without any of my own mods I think the pack itself is something like 140 mods.
And a bunch of those are dummy plugins left enabled for no fricking reason but without which the game will crash, like even if you disable the Inigo and another companion mod their plugin still gets loaded and takes up a slot in the load order, or some spell mod that isn't even enabled by default but still takes up like 7 plugin slots.
This is the last time I trust wabbajack tards, this shit is for the idiots who come up with new and innovative ways to turn skyrim into dark souls each month instead of people who actually want to mod and play the game.
I've had my Quest 2 for only a year and the stick drift is even more unbearable than on switch
>I've had my quest 2
stick drift aside, how is this shit, are there games to play in VR or is it dead
There used to be a shit ton and the online games were so lively but yeah its pretty much died out since mark zukerberg killed it with all this metaverse shit
I will never use VR. I think it's a stupid technology right now (pc games with worse controls). Maybe in 10 years.

You can connect the Quest 3 to a PC, i'd argue its the best PCVR because it works wirelessly the best
Can I install my own operating system on the headset though?
no, but you can install any android apk if you get a free developer account

take2 took down all VR mods for all their games (GTA, RDR)
The guy who was making those had them locked behind patreon, he deserved it.

virtual desktop has realtime AI upscaling now
Can you pirate VD? I thought there was drama of the dev adding DRM.
where?
Just lower the resolution then.
do you still need a facebook account to use it?

Yeah nah frick that

no, meta account doesn't require it

fine with Quest 2 and pc, its a supplemental device like switch
I use my Steam Deck 1000x more than my quest 2. Only thing i use my Quest 2 is for clopicians pony porn and nothing else.

Does it have OLED? Does it have a wide field of vision?
Nah. I’m gonna keep using my quest 1 with link until we have deep dive furry porn
This, it's good enough for VR JAV and after beating Alyx once that's all VR is good for at the moment
eventually maybe, i need to hear about how it actually performs
very little VR games that I actually want to play have released since Alyx
i want to put 200 hours into skyrim VR but the amount of troubleshooting and 255 load limit is killing me
I think if I wanted to give VR another go I would have to buy one of those treadmill contraptions, because I simply don’t have the room for VR.
