I played it for an hour. I think the entire presentation is great, the actual gameplay is good for a metroidvania, but it lacks the je ne sais quoi that the previous game had. hopefully I change my mind going forward
For me it's mostly the environments
Gameplay is good, feedback is good, sprites are all great but traversing these dingy caves and sort-of forest like things just isn't that interesting
i haven't played the previous games
i think being locked to a 720 window is a mistake and momo feels kind of sluggish until you get the dash
They said it's meant to scale to 1080, but I don't see why it wouldn't scale to arbitrary multiples of the native res
hey man, all i know is when i choose my resolution it's 360 or 720 and that's it
Yeah same, but the developer said in the Steam forum that they were looking into why 1080 wasn't an option for some people
That sounds like something a DEV would know.
did you just come in here to accuse someone of shilling for providing information
You are digging your hole deeper. Disclose that you are a dev and started this thread from the beginning or get mocked.
lol again it's something I know because the dev posted it on the Steam forum.
If you close the game in windowed mode and re-open you get the proper resolution options. Apparently they're working on fixing this. It shouldn't be an issue though imo, how the frick was this not tested prior?
the previous momodora was very barebones and too easy. Is the new one any different? only objective answers from non morons please
cute!
The exploration is so far comfy but there are a few things I find odd.
>why is the flower praying animation so long and unskippable
>why was the first boss absolute b***h easy mode and why didn't I get an upgrade for no-damaging it?
>Why isn't munni or whatever it's called magnetized to you, and makes an effort to get away from you as much as possible
>why was awakening the leaf or cutting demon strings an upgrade if you'll get it this quickly
as i said in a thread yesterday rdein communicated years ago that he wanted to remove the no-hit reward items because it was too punishing for players who were incapable of no-hitting
i disagree with this but it is what it is
BOOOOOOO DISAPPOINTING BOOOOO
Also how short is this game if 11% of players have 100%'d it when it only came out not more than 3 hours ago?
Actually wait that's even more disappointing because at least my memory of Reverie was that it didn't really unlock anything new, just gave you earlier access to items you would have bought later in the game.
no, there were exclusive items for doing it in both reverie and minoria
Motherfricker. I've been no hitting them all so far. That's lame but also sort of a relief.
I was curious, is the very first boss something you can pass if you lose? It felt like it was meant to be a Souls first boss but it was instantly trivialised by rolling
It's not even a souls boss, it has literally three attacks that are MMX5 Dark Necrobat tier
>a jumping smash that misses you if you're in melee range, which you will be
>some white breath cloud that doesn't even seem to damage you
>a very delayed shout that doesn't track which side you're on nearly 2 seconds before the attack starts
I genuinely doubt you could lose against him. I hope it was just the tutorial shit because it was stupidly easy.
I assumed it was because the end of the fight is it getting back up and destroying the platform you're on.
oh is it finally out?
ill have to check it out later, thanks for the heads up anon
Is it just me or does Momo feels kinda heavy?
Unless she is fat, then disregard this question. I love me some fatties.
i only know momodora's a thing because pardoner fennel made a cameo in a super mario world hack i love
this looks genuinely more fun than the first few bosses in the new momodora
how about the secret buffed version that's even more dictated by RNG
The way the artist draws looks super familiar
and I mean outside of generic anime shit
I feel like they're a drawgay on here
I'm not the only one who's played all of these and don't remember the story in any of them, right?
Been playing for 5 minutes, they removed ducking, controls are a bit slower, shooting an arrow at full stamina drains it all and they removed the no-hit item from bosses.
The thing I'm most annoyed by is not being able to duck.
i was thinking of replaying 1-4 and minoria before starting this because i forgot all about them by now
It's time.
>big girls with huge breasts
yup it's momodora alright
>it's momodora alright
Not really though, big tiddie anime girls only became a Momodora thing in RUTM (and continued to an extent in Minoria, I guess, though somewhat subdued). I can't recall anything of the sort in 1-3.
dumb snek
Begone serpent
these bosses are so easy and not even spiced up by the parry from minoria or trying to no-hit for a reward
you just sit in place and roll what were you thinking rdein this isn't the culmination of a decade of experience
Can't wait to play it. A new Momodora is always an event in Brazil not really
The bosses have so far(the tutorial and the harpy boss) sucked really hard. If it's all like this I'm considering refunding.
Sucked as in too easy or too boring?
not him but they are all trivialized by beating on them and spamming heals
learning to play perfect is something you CAN do but since there is no longer a reward it feels way worse than in reverie and minoria, it's all just so dull and easy
this keeps up and it's easily going to be the worst of those 3 games
Dang that's sad, this was one of the few games I was looking forward to this year.
it's still good but so far it is not on the level of those two
the guy who just refunded it is wrong because some bosses do have phase 2 mechanics but it is not enough
gonna add to this
so far the enemy variety is pretty good and better than the previous games, the exploration is mostly linear with some side areas you can go to so it's okay there, the environments are well done, but actually playing you feel fairly sluggish on character acceleration unless you are dashing in which case you are pretty fast
the pace of upgrades is pretty fast so i'm sure i am at least 2/3 done already and the bosses are pretty underwhelming when they were one of the strengths of 4
it feels like another tevi situation where all the building blocks are there for something really good and it stumbles a bit and ends up alright instead, there's just a lot less incessant yapping and on-rails shit compared to tevi
and ANOTHER thing i forgot to add
so far i've found 3 spots in the game where you need to plant some money in the ground to speed up growth of a fruit and literally wait 10 in-game minutes to collect that fruit (which is a permanent upgrade)
this is ridiculous and i have no idea how they thought this was a good idea
Both. I've also just fought the boar and it also sucked, am I being dumb? Didn't Reverie have more difficult bosses that were also incredibly rewarding to no-damage as well(Not just in the it gives you a reward sense, but in the it was genuinely fun to learn their patterns and then fight them in a no damage run).
The common issues so far are also the big ones
>Every boss seems to have two or three attacks at the most
>no second phase to spice things up
>every attack is ridiculously easy to dodge, the boar I just mentioned charges back and forth fairly slowly three times and then stares at you, summons a boar from off screen(which gets stunlocked if you have the gust of wind sigil), then telegraphs when it's about to charge again. The charging needs to go the full screen before it changes direction.
>Even if it deals damage, it can be completely outhealed
>so far none of their attack patterns have even taxed the stamina system
>going up in their face and spamming melee is the only strategy here and it's stupidly easy.
I'm giving it 50 more minutes because that's the refund window but I'm not too happy with the game so far.
>Didn't Reverie have more difficult bosses that were also incredibly rewarding to no-damage as well
Not really? Maybe closer to the end, like Fennel or the arsonist. Earlier bosses like the centipede or even the boob witch were piss-easy too.
I don't know if I'm too harsh on the game or not but I refunded.
It looks pretty, didn't lock my movement or teleport me due to story bullshit like Tevi did and that's all the praise I can give it.
Big fat pixel tats. Can I play this game without finishing the previous one?
No, it will not launch if it can't detect the save file from the previous game.
I'll sooner play Signalis
Play both. Both are good.
Platformers ain't my thing I'm afraid.
why is there no gog release
>make a really hard jump in ash land
>find a wind fish sized egg with an impossible jump above it
FRICK YOU
okay it wasn't impossible
if you get here you can do it but it's very difficult and it almost makes me feel like there is an air dash later from the room design
There is an air dash.
>you can unlock hardcore mode from the start
>all enemies do more damage and if you die it's permadeath
>there are areas in lategame that will 2shot you on normal mode and traps that instakill you
yeah okay dude
How long is it? I'm guessing it's about 6-7 hours long?
Why there are males in this game?
Previous games only had girls.
It's the TEVI curse
>Previous games only had girls.
Factually incorrect.
>Hollow Knight
Zoomer's Valdis Story.
Because the developer isn't mentally ill
Is it actually any good or basically Minoria the pixel art edition? Cause Minoria sucked.
RUTM was fine but it was released almost 10 years ago when there was no competition and Hollow Knight, Blasphemous, Grime etc didn't exist.
Any particular reason I would play this over Tevi or Afterimage? Don't have the time to play them all.
