Are you enjoying this trend of sequels or would you rather Atelier games go back to using a new protag each game?
If you do enjoy sequels, who do you hope gets one next?

IDK I literally bought rorona, totori, meruru, firis, sophie and lydie in a joblot sale ages ago.
Never played any of them, don't know if I ever will get round to.
Got them cheap though so it doesn't bother me too much...
Atelier games have always been designed on the premise that their protagonists go from novice to very competent over the course of their game. It makes more sense for them to step into a mentor role to a new protagonist in the next game. They really had no idea what to do with Ryza in Ryza 2 storywise and having her start from scratch in alchemy felt really forced. Sophie 2 worked better because they paired Sophie up with the novice young Plachta, so they clearly noticed the issue. I'd like a new trilogy, but if they were to keep making sequels, I'd rather them be with new protagonists like Lulua.
>Lulua
A quest for discovering her origins and biological family making her travelling into another country/far from Arland would be great
I truly wish the next Ryza game would be about some random girl studying under Ryza with her being the Main protagonist together with Ryza. I just miss this formula so much.
well no fricking duh, these are coomer games
I like the old way of introducing new characters while sometimes showing the previous alchemists. Kind builds a legacy or something. It was nice seeing Rorona go from the ultimate moron to the ultimate (moronic) alchemist
Ryza backtracked on her development from the first game and Sophie 2 is a fricking isekai. Sequels were a mistake.
I just want my fanservice back. Frick the executives for telling GUST to tone it down even more in Ryza 2 despite Ryza barely having any.
the fanservice IS Ryza
They managed to have even LESS fanservice in Ryza 2 and said why in an interview during production.
God, I miss the days before the term fanservice was hijacked by perverts. Realdeal actual fanservice was anything from a deep cut nod to a previous game (not even neccessarily in the same series!) to something like straight up having a returning character. It wasn't about how skimpy the fricking girls were dressed or how many pantyshots got thrown in.
Oh boy here comes resetera with their revisionism on fanservice. I bet you never unlocked the swimsuits in shining force or got Samus undressed
Yes, I got the sugoi mizugi and the two other secret outfits in SF and knew about Samus. Guess what. SF and Metroid were completely new games with all new characters and henceforth no pre-existing FANBASE to give "service" to. Therefor, those things were not fanservice. There was another, far more appropriate term for it that I've either can't be assed to remember for some random anon, or can't remember in my old age due to how it was chucked into the sea and replaced with fanservice.
fanservice is fanservice. And yes the term fanservices was used that way in anime too back then. You're just moronic
Not them but the way a lot of Camelot games handled female characters sucked ass while failing to be hot. AV's SF1 remake did it proper by making Tao and Anri proper characters and making the sexy outfits visible in gameplay instead of just the map.
Be less like Shining Force 1 and Blue Reflection, be more like Landstalker and Sengoku Blade.
The Ryza games are literally the only ones without swimsuit or hot springs scenes in the base game, probably because they figured they could scam moronic newbie coomers by locking them to DLC. Both Lulua and Sophie 2 have them so it's not even a case of toning down the series as a whole.
>Both Lulua and Sophie 2 have them so it's not even a case of toning down the series as a whole.
They started toning it down with Ryza
Ryza's Sophie DLC outfit is censored too
Sophie 2 still gives you a swimsuit outfit set in the base game, even though they're the "boring" ones.
Coomers are unstoppable.
they can do whatever they want as long as they make at least 50% of the game CGs of totori's cute bare feet
Deal, but they must also feature Mimi licking them clean.
Mimi is the dominant one doe
There's a scene in Lulua all about establishing Totori as the dominant between the two.
Breath of fire fanservice was nice
based on sophie 2 they might as well have just made a new protag. They filled the game with all new characters other than sophie and plachta and they'll never get to show up again. I'd much prefer if they just added more games on the end like lulua or even ryza 2 did.
>ah, this recipe using sterk's semen turned out nicely
Atelier went to shit and Blue Reflection turned out to be shit. This clearly indicates that we should return Mel to where he belongs
Nights of Azure was great and the sequel was pretty good too. Not sure I'd trust current Gust with a third game though.
>Nights of Azure
That wasn't him as chara designer was it?
No. Yoshiku.
Yoshiku did NoA'S 2d character art/design.
Just get Ryza 3 over with so we can have a new series with new protags. I am looking forward to Bos being playable in 3 though.
Me too, though right now it's the only thing I'm looking for aside from cool new environments. That's one thing both Ryza 2 and Sophie 2 excelled at.
He already has one, Kilo. I hope she becomes the playable Oren in the third game.
Bos needs to get a waifu
Atelier in a sci-fi setting
I'm glad that, even in a scientifically advanced society, girls still understand the importance of showing off their thighs.
She's exposed without her hovering suit
wasn't there a whole plot about an "ancient advanced civilization that once lived there" and their ruins are all over arland and stuff? They could explore that a bit more
I take it you haven't played Lulua because its plot is entirely about that.
Direct sequel games with the same MC need to just keep all of the previous game's recipes and expand even further
>favorite protag
Totori
>least favorite protag
Sophie
Just want cute little girl protagonists again, simple as
Ryza ruined Atelier forever.
