yeah I've been working on the emerald factory since earlier this year. over 100 hours in and I've only made it to round 6 a handful of times. highest streak is 36
As a kid I loved the battle dome bc you could read little summaries about yourself and the competitors. Also you could see Gen 2 Pokemon which I wasn’t too familiar with at the time.
>play through each of them >wish it was casualised so you can just keep a score and pick it up anytime you want >ORAS come around >instead of casualizing the game, they outright get rid of it
Love the battle frontier but I could never bother finishing it
>wish it was casualised so you can just keep a score and pick it up anytime you want
I wouldn't mind this once you get the gold symbol. If you lose after beating Noland/Thorton 2, you keep the Pokemon sets that can appear, but reset the streak. Starting over with NFEs in L50 or shitty group 1 sets in Open Level is demoralizing.
Oh yes, the triple OHKO landing move. Because frick you.
I swear to God, how can that shit fly in that place? I can't even move, they just go "frick your day", and take you out.
Haven't the gen 3 games been decompiled? There's no way the battle frontier doesn't bullshit the probability whenever quick claw and OHKO moves get involved.
It's fun until you start seriously going for the gold symbol, then it starts to feel like an RNG shitfest. My final match against Nolan was one of the most bizarrre across both battle frontiers. >comes down to my nidoking vs. his shuckle >nidoking is the special variant with a bunch of inaccurate moves >proceeds to miss all of them while shuckle sets up double teams >shuckle is the sub/attract/toxic variant and can't actually do anything to nidoking besides evade >nidoking starts to struggle, but still can't hit most of them and the recoil is too small to actually kill itself >this goes on for so long shuckle starts to struggle too >the recoil is also too low for shuckle to kill itself, but the contact activates poison point which finally seals its fate
I've had similar experiences when I tried going for the gold symbol. It's usually when I'm done with half of my gold symbol matches that the RNG frickery begins in earnest. I decided to mess around with save states to see if I was just bad or if the game was bullshit and sure enough, the AI was cheating just as much as I was. Perfectly predicting everything I did, shit missed half the time if it wasn't a 100 accuracy move. It even seemed at times that the enemy's selection of Pokemon were picked specifically to counter mine.
I never felt like the AI was outright cheating even on the handful of occasions I ran into quick claw+sheer cold/fissure/guillotine sets, but the factory in particular gives you the least control of any facility besides the palace so RNG and the lack of foreknowledge feels really pronounced in there. Like in the platinum frontier I once got a dragonite with dragon dance and a lum berry at the very start. That whole round was an effortless sweep, never even traded pokemon. The round where I finally got a shot at the gold symbol? Complete horseshit, even abusing savestates it took me about 8 tries against Thorton alone to get the RNG to swing far enough in my favor for a win. Even one of the regular matches turned into a fricking puzzle game of "how do I arrange this match so gyarados is at full HP when it switches into arcanine at the end, thus allowing it to survive a thunder fang after intimidate and OHKO back with waterfall?" The answer was "bring in magnezone against their altaria and get lucky enough to beat it before you get 2HKO'd by flamethrower." Even that would have been ruined by a critical hit.
Why yes, i did get the gold symbol

For me, it's Cynthia's new home.
woiw
The only good Cynthia vore post.
For me, it's Cynthia's new car.
Alright, you got my sides
It's fun until you get the fricking worst match-ups
Disliked this one.
Ah frick you
I loved this facility but I'd always eat shit at the frontier brain which I still can't make sense of since it's supposed to be randomized
>which I still can't make sense of since it's supposed to be randomized
Nolan's mons have higher IVs if I remember right.

It also has such a cool atmosphere
was a lot of fun. i don't remember my highest streak but i got gold.
the streamer who made zoomers interested in it is a little b***h
everyone is
Random Battle is always Showdown's most played meta for a reason
>game isn't just the same teams pitted against each others
No wonder
>play through each of them
>wish it was casualised so you can just keep a score and pick it up anytime you want

I'm surprised no one posted it.
Ice
Ground
Dragon
Congratulations, you beated the factory.
I liked the factory because it let me use pokemon I couldn't actually obtain in the game. I wonder if that was intentional.
I swear this place cheats on higher levels.
I don't think it cheats, but a lot of the sets in the place are meant to hax you over time
It's bugged like shit in Emerald.
Oh yes, the triple OHKO landing move. Because frick you.

It doesn't have to cheat the RNG. It just throws so much RNG bullshit at you that eventually you'll lose.
No it doesn't. The problem is when you have to win 50 battlest in a row, chances are you're gonna get unlucky in one of them.
