Meh, moderately. Like said, League lore quality varies heavily depending on who's writing (which is actually really similar to XIV lmao), but more importantly, the writers keep trampling over each other and constantly fricking retconning shit. If they finally settle on one version of events for everything to get the mmo done, it might be good, but I'm not crossing my fingers.
On the gameplay side, I've got better expectations because they tend to outsource most of the actual dev stuff when doing anything outside the moba and they're actually pretty damn good at picking people who can do a good job of it, but I'm still expecting it to be typical tab-targetting combat which is a minus.
Mostly I'm gonna try it because I want to see the world. That's the real part that's just gonna be great for sure. If nothing else they're great at designing and making things look appealing.

GOOD, he wanted to make it a raid game. Nobody wants to fricking raid. More specifically, nobody wants to raid the unfun shit Blizzard generally churns out. It was always tuned too high, not fun to actually do, and you just hoped the other 9/24/39 people weren't morons or trolling.
You can make group activities that aren't absolutely punishing and soul-crushing. Ironically City of Heroes is the dead game even though their 3x8 raid groups against the praetorians were fun, difficult without busting your balls, and rewarding in one sitting.
Half the throne of thunder fights were fun. The sewer segment in general was really cool.
Ragnaros is a cool guy but a shit fight.
Old gods were generally bad, but the mechanics where you go inside their bodies or into pocket realms were good.
That BFA raid where the Alliance raid the troll city and you play both sides was great storytelling and mostly good fights.
Ulduar was a good setting, half the fights were fun if you tuned them down a little.
Trial of the Crusader was very mechanically fresh for every fight. Icecrown was a good setting but too hard and long in the upper areas.
Castle Nathria had 4 fun fights, but was tuned too high overall.
Legion I'd pick and choose 1 or 2 fights from each raid.
Anyone who played WoW past Cata doesn't have an opinion worth listening to.
Ghostcrawler ruined WoW back in the day though, and he went to work with Holinka, who also ruined WoW PvP and introduced absolute garbage like Ashran.

Starting out it was a buggy but really fricking good pvp mmo where the gear grind was absolute minimum, and you could just get 3 buds and frick around out of bounds on rooftops sniping randoms.
Then the game got bricked by themepark gear treadmill shit.
Couple that with the fact that zoomers can't form communities and will just clout chase and ego themselves into drama fueled fail-cascades and the game died in like 2 months flat.
I don't think mmos are possible anymore. It's all about getting back on your time investment. Zoomers want to tear you down and companies want to ration out satisfaction to leverage the maximum engagement and hunger. You just get nothing unless you're willing to engage with nasty people and nolife.

The game fell apart before the first update, it was just a matter of time before players figured out just how fricking broken it really was.
Once people found the first couple bugs, it was over, everything in the game became unplayable overnight.
Between farming bots taking up every spot, invincibility glitches, gear not working or having bugged perks, and finally dungeon spamming making every other piece of content obsolete within a couple months, the game fell like a castle of cards.
I came back to it for the greatsword update and it was so laggy and rubberbandy that I quit again in a couple days.
Glitches are fine because everyone can use them.
Getting tradehouse disabled every time a dupe was found was annoying, and the worst part was lending someone your crafting trophies and then trophies getting trade locked until the game died.
What killed the game dead was zoomies constantly posturing and fronting and trying to join the server deathball after losing to them once. There was no loyalty or integrity.
Deathball forms, server dies because the whole map is green or yellow, deathball transfers to new server and repeats. Once AGS opened up transfers that was the deathblow.
And expertise. What a fricking stupid idea.
don't forget e-celebs were a cancer as well because they would form faction zergs just by existing as well. but you're right. it's comical how a game like dark age of camelot got the idea of faction/server loyalty right ages ago. The only reason they keep failing is developers' unwillingness to commit to long term content without deleting all previous content every time they release something new just to funnel every single player they have into the same thing.
Just let people progress through the content at their own pace, if there's 5 or 6 people at their level that's good enough. You don't need 10000 concurrent players for 1 activity at all times.
Keeping servers as closed environments is also extremely important, and nobody does that anymore.

Riot works slow, for context we first knew about Valorant in October 2019, then the official reveal in March 2020, a closed beta on April 2020 and then the release in june 2020, according to some sources Valorant was first conceived in 2013. we know riot started to work on the mmo just in 2020, shit is not going to see the light of day until 2027-2028 at least.

Early League was pure sovl, especially if you had friends. I still keep contact with that group of friends and should the MMO launch we are going to be there day one.
The unfortunate state of current-day MMOs is that it's not going to last long before metagamers ruin it with videos like "HOW TO FIND ALL SECRETS IN THIS MMO" which completely destroys exploration, one of the biggest aspects of an open world RPG.
Sure this doesn't matter if you have a dedicated group of buddies who won't look up guides, but for the community as a whole it's pretty hopeless.
I expect the first few months to be pure kino and falling off after that, but I'm ready to be positively surprised.

Forever MMOs are a big mistake, instead of putting 20 years worth of updates into one game they should have made 4 games. The more they add on to WoW the more underwhelming the sequel will be, they've painted themselves into a corner.
It would be some sanitized MMO like Dragonflight where the devs don't even think about it to implement some darker themed story elements. It will be some quirky, happy and colorful themepark.

Are any of these MMOs actually fun though? I missed the window for playing stuff like WoW, Silkroad, Tera or Runescape and at the moment I'm mostly interested in Wayfinder solely because of who the developers are(the guys who made Darksiders Genesis) and this mainly because I kind of like Arcane(haven't played League) and I figure the universe might be neat to explore.

I tried either iteration of runescape and I can't see how anyone stands either game considering no one even answers to a simple hello or how RS3 shoves so many tutorials, guides, prebuilt tracks and popups up your ass you can barely figure out what it is you want to do on your own.
