>that it is as faithful to quake itself, and not just doom eternal dlc
homie Doom Eternal is literally Quake on steroids but demons and hell instead of SAVE ME Black personMAN
>expecting modern game devs to make anything resembling a doom 2 custom levels
you seem to forget that modern game devs dont aim for their games to be fun
>id has been hiring for new projects >2021 and 2022 both saw leaks regarding a Quake reboot with a new story involving both Strogg and help me Black personman
Source or just speculation?
I doubt it's going to be the same soul as the originals though. They gotta pander to the newer kiddies now.
The only thing I agree with on QC Ranger is the way they wrote and voice acted him. They gave him a sense of longing to escape this hell he's in while also losing a bit of his sanity. They can keep that.
i hope it gets cancelled, doom 2016 and eternal were among the worst shooters of the last decade and caused the series to get a jojo-tier fanbase that doesnt understand what made the originals good in the first place.
old games change too much when time warped into the current year, what made them memorable then doesnt survive the modernisation required to make them marketable to zooms. its chance of being good is slim at best.
Since I'm sure you're all Quake pros and not just bandwagoners, How does Dimension of the Past/Machine compare to the kino of Quake + Scourge/Disillusion
I played Doom Eternal revently and was shocked how slow and boring it felt. If it doesnt play like Q1 then it will be shit.
Dimension of the Past starts off sooo good. Really feels like classic Quake. Dimension of the Machine has way more extravagant setpieces and maps which is super cool. I personally think they're great and better than Dissolution for me. There's somehting about that pack I didn't like and its hard to say what.
dopa is very vanilla and felt fine, but not exciting
machine has some great level design aesthetically, and almost all of the maps were pretty fun to go through. Also amazing brushwork in the hub level.
Eh. I wouldn't mind it. If it's good it's good. If it's shit then I'll just go back to playing the original for the thousandth time. Not sure why so many people are blackpilling about it.
i never liked quake enough to even finish all the episodes, despite "retro shooters" being my favourite video genre. hell i liked dusk more than quake. so i dont care that its a quake game, i care that its made by id who are the only triple-A studio capable of making at least decent singleplayer fps games
iirc last I tried it worked just fine, I might've had some of the typical issues like trying to get a modern resolution going but I was able to play Arcane Dimensions for hours just fine. And yeah the music worked
Might just go with the steam version for my first time playing it then, cheers.
iirc last I tried it worked just fine, I might've had some of the typical issues like trying to get a modern resolution going but I was able to play Arcane Dimensions for hours just fine. And yeah the music worked
Knowing current id they'll do just that.
Honestly, it could be cool if done well >Game starts off as Quake 2 shit, fighting the cyborgs and robots of the Strogg >Turns out the Makron is worshipping ancient evil gods and performing rituals to gain more power >The next half of the game is you vs the Quake 1 shit after they just tear the Strogg apart once unleashed and you need to take down the Lovecraftian god leader
Yes. But they need to remove the redundancy in the weapon selection. No point in having two shotguns and two nailguns.
Quake 2 was better in that regard, but the weapons themselves felt like shit (except the railgun).
Quake is about dimension hopping so it’s bound to have a bunch of wildly contrasting settings. I wonder how they’ll deviate from DE, which is the same thing. I imagine they’ll have your classic military base thing (something like D2016?), obligatory castles (Blood Swamps more than Nekravol), weird cyborg levels for Strogg fans (Q4/Cultist Base vibes), and then just weird alien shit a-la Urdak and Holt where they just let the art designers go hog wild.
Out of the loop. My questions are:
How, when. why and I'm the only one who liked Quake 4? I honestly could've played Doom 2016 all day. Too bad the population is dead. As long the gameplay is some gaygity autism shit like in Doom Eternal I'm fine with it. Will it have a campaign/story mode too or only MP?
I love Quake 4, I’d probably even rate it over D2016 in spite of its flaws (but below Eternal). I didn’t like sections with Allie’s, but the levels are atmospheric, the guns are all solid and useful, the enemies very varied and encounters are fun and memorable. Good game, solid sci-if shooting, classic Raven.
No. Leave now.
only under the condition that it is as faithful to quake itself, and not just doom eternal dlc.
>that it is as faithful to quake itself, and not just doom eternal dlc
homie Doom Eternal is literally Quake on steroids but demons and hell instead of SAVE ME Black personMAN
So about 0% of Quake, agreed
doom eternal is just like a ghost train ride, with token free fighting.
I want shit like any community made doom 2 levels. or arcane dimensions,
>expecting modern game devs to make anything resembling a doom 2 custom levels
you seem to forget that modern game devs dont aim for their games to be fun
just tell them to hire modders from the community.
>Doom Eternal is literally Quake on steroids
moron.
It will be. To 2. And no multiplayer because we have Quake Champions.
If they do to it what they did to doom, no, not at all.
Leave the BING BING WAHOO! out of Quake please.
Upcoming quake reboot?
id is hiring for something
>id has been hiring for new projects
>2021 and 2022 both saw leaks regarding a Quake reboot with a new story involving both Strogg and help me Black personman
>the game exists because i leak shit from my ass
have a nice day. get cancer. die zoomer mongoloid
Malding
Yes
I fully expect it to be the Bing Bing Wahoo Noom reskin
why is the kool aid man talking to someone from dynasty warriors?
>are you hyped for another franchise being revived to have its corpse raped?
no i'm not a blind fanboy
Source or just speculation?

Doom Eternal also forces woke sjw pandering.
that word has lost all meaning, i prefer keyboard warriors.
sounds like human revolution and botw
What a load of hyperbolic shit
old games change too much when time warped into the current year, what made them memorable then doesnt survive the modernisation required to make them marketable to zooms. its chance of being good is slim at best.
Eternal > any other id game
Cope
when I see the logo I'll clap. then I'll come here and when I see all the posts hating on it I'll download my new opinion and not want it anymore.
If Quake is so good then why isn't there a Quake (1) 2? Checkmate, Shamblers.
which timeline is even relevant at this point?
the fantasy? the deathmatch? the Muhreeens vs notBorg?
Since I'm sure you're all Quake pros and not just bandwagoners, How does Dimension of the Past/Machine compare to the kino of Quake + Scourge/Disillusion
>How does Dimension of the Past/Machine
the new missions are good so far but i haven't finished them yet.
I enjoyed them a lot but on nightmare it's pure torture, especially Dimension of the Past. Hope you like corridors full of fiends
>corridors full of fiends
I do. Also give me open areas filled with Vores on Nightmare.
I played Doom Eternal revently and was shocked how slow and boring it felt. If it doesnt play like Q1 then it will be shit.

If they do what they did to Doom absolutely not.
Doom remake is unbelievably cringe and shit and basically just NOT Doom...
Unreal remaking when?
There is no Quake Reboot. I'm more hyped up for the Tremor fanpack, if it ever releases.
Wasn't Tremor the 100 Maps on 1 CD shit from the 90s? I think I still have that one.
A pack with 32 levels made to be like the original Quake 1 maps in terms of design and restrictions.
>Tremor fanpack
QRD?
make it single player. arenagays don't actually play multiplayer arena fps, they just cry online
They inevitably won't capture the eeriness or surreal maps. It's going to be a doom eternal rehash no one asked for.
Favorite Quake Level and Weapon?
>The Edge
>Super Nailgun (Lava)
Terror_Fuma
Triple shotgun
you just know that if a teaser happens it will end with a shambler charging up a lightning bolt
>Duke 3d reboot trailer comes out around the same time
>ends with "I ain't afraid of no Quake"
Eh. I wouldn't mind it. If it's good it's good. If it's shit then I'll just go back to playing the original for the thousandth time. Not sure why so many people are blackpilling about it.

Probably won't have anything to show this year. They didn't even have a tease at E3.
>modern vidya
>hype
When is Quakecon?
In a month
Is the current steam release for Quake good? I heard they fixed alot of shit with it and I heard it plays the music now
Its good yeah. I think it actually has higher bitrate audio than any other engine. My go to is still vkQuake though.
Might just go with the steam version for my first time playing it then, cheers.
iirc last I tried it worked just fine, I might've had some of the typical issues like trying to get a modern resolution going but I was able to play Arcane Dimensions for hours just fine. And yeah the music worked
Maybe.
>What I want
Arcane Dimensions but bigger and better
>What we'll get
Doom Eternal 2 Or even worse, more Strogg.
Wouldn't it be great if they find some way to mishmash quake 1 and 2 together.
No, frick stroggs.
Knowing current id they'll do just that.
Honestly, it could be cool if done well
>Game starts off as Quake 2 shit, fighting the cyborgs and robots of the Strogg
>Turns out the Makron is worshipping ancient evil gods and performing rituals to gain more power
>The next half of the game is you vs the Quake 1 shit after they just tear the Strogg apart once unleashed and you need to take down the Lovecraftian god leader
crash land on quake, and teleport to the quake realm, and fight doom demons
>soundtrack is echoey spooky thrash metal but nudoomified
It's going to be a mix of both
Zoom enternal is quack.
>hyped
Why the frick?
No, unless it will have same liminal atmosphere.
I already played it.
This.
Arcane Dimensions is better than whatever reboot they could be planning.
they could retcon Quake and make it crossover with Doom, could be neat, will piss you off so i want it
Its gonna be the original idea that romero had about some guy with a hammer called quake?
Daikatana already exists.
it depends
is the zoom redditernal or wokenstein team behind it?
No, it will not surpass Doom Eternal anyway
Yes. But they need to remove the redundancy in the weapon selection. No point in having two shotguns and two nailguns.
Quake 2 was better in that regard, but the weapons themselves felt like shit (except the railgun).
kys you dumb tard, nobody wan't a fricking reboot or a sequel, go back to r*ddit you turd gobbler!
.
What?
Wrath?
Is it any good?
Yes.
It's not released. But you can give the "demo" a try on the usual places.
It's never coming out. Even if it does, the original lead left a long time ago.
We had this thread last year. Quake 2 kex is more likely
quake 2 kex as well as quake 4 remaster(proper high res support and modern console port)
Yes, Eternal was awesome and I’m eagerly waiting for Hugo’s next game.
Quake, but In the Arctic.
Quake is about dimension hopping so it’s bound to have a bunch of wildly contrasting settings. I wonder how they’ll deviate from DE, which is the same thing.
