Warhammer fans already hate and try to stamp out any interest in any non space marine faction. The amount of buying that xenos players gets is entirely out of hand, I'd be more than happy to see ultra smurfs get mainstreamed to death.
Warhammer owners will allow any moron dev to use their IP so while you have great games like Dawn of War, most of the times you'll get irrelevant shovelware. This eternal cycle renovates public interest ever so often and you could say there will never be long periods of drought. Kinda reminds me of touhou

But my favorite game of all time is Earth Defense Force 4.1, which also got the same ratings and it's a massive improvement over the og version EDF 2025.

I'm guessing the figurines gross a metric frickton of revenue considering how cheap they probably are to make vs. their price. Couple that with multiple generations of people being brought into Warhammer related media through games.

I think GW would've made far more money if they reduced the prices to a fair level instead of gutting people and just kept pumping out new models, rules and races.
If it was more affordable, there'd be far more people buying and talking about it, instead of having to rely on mostly mediocre video games for advertisement.

Warhammer succeeds because no one has a good vision of the future anymore. They embraced the suck from the start and ran with it and made it cool (as an outside observer).
Anybody who thinks Warhammer is still alive or even recoverable without just retconning all modern plot development surrounding Cadia, Marvel Movies, and Rowboat is either an outsider, or secondary. Shit's dead, it's hasn't even re-invented itself because it hasn't replaced what it removed with anything. There's no intent - artistic, masturbatory nerd-service, or otherwise, only market forces.
