The Meteia and the story surrounding it are all mostly sci-fi plots with somewhat classic sci-fi aliens and interstellar travel and therefore are irrelevant, when they bring the Occuria back it will be a shift deeper towards the aesthetics/"feel" of classical fantasy and magic, bound to Aetherys alone, and the Occuria will be explicitly contrasted to all the functional, scientifically studied nature of Aether/Dynamis by wielding more arcane and unknowable, mystical magic, and presented as beings existing in a plane higher and closer to true divinity with their magic being rendered closer to true miracles, than all the things wrought by the hands of the Ancients.

Honestly, with space now being a thing in the story with civilizations Meteion wrecked, the idea that there's either more Ultimas out there or even a deceased race of them that was wrought by their own crazy ass bullshit is pretty acceptable. But then given how Ultima works into the Ivalician setting, it makes me wonder if she's a cosmic abomination in that setting too; with Jenova having been a thing in VII I wouldn't be surprised if Matsuno is on-board with the idea not being, well, too "alien" by this series' standards.
That's probably one egg in their future plots basket they have to work with now: we sorta followed a trail to jump to the edge of the universe for stopping Endsinger, but with the new restoration stuff being some space planet travel shit, I wouldn't be surprised if a future plot takes us to another planetary body.

In the second phase there is very clearly a massive uroboros in the background, and from the Studium quests we know that there's some hint of an uroboros (which will likely be important in the future) which is explicitly referred to as a representation of the Lifestream.
We are specifically told that the HoS started out as white and only turned black after Athena's experiments with it. You are right that "Ultima" is some sort of race though, as we see a bunch of them floating around in a circle in the background of the first phase.

The problem with true resurrections in XIV is that as soon as the soul is sufficiently departed from the body it gets torn to shreds and sanded down to its base energies in the Lifestream. It's not like other settings where ghosts exist in an afterlife holding cell or whatever.

Well the aetiascope showed a lot of pent up souls stuck in a holding cell or whatever ready to slap your ass once you stepped in there. Granted, it's not the everyman farmer calling you a moron then fricking off but as long as you retain some sort of force of will to stay there you kinda manage to keep your soul.
Some souls can randomly walk around the lifestream for who knows how long tho, like that oldgay wizard soul in p9 or hades, but the latter is probably because he's a necromancer gay and also too thick and clogs the stream.
If you wanna resurrect someone, you basically need to either do what the Ascians do and track down their soul after it pops out the other end of the reincarnation cycle and implant their old memories into their new body, or do what the Tactics Ogre guy did and tap into the Lifestream and literally rip their souls out of the reincarnation cycle.
healing's limitations, its costs and how it can easily be corrupted are pretty well spelled out in the conjurer and white mage questlines.
healing can fix anything your body would naturally be able to fix on its own given time. mend bone and muscle, close wounds. it can purge corruption from many sources like poison, corrupted aether, unfriendly spells, curses and even some mental conditions
it can't replace limbs, fix true paralysis like arenvald there, replace lost blood, regrow eyeballs, etc. this isn't DnD or warcraft in which healing is direct intervention from divine or natural forces and as such can perform miracles like true resurrection.
Raise and other ressurection spells are worth noting because they don't actually bring you back from the dead. after you fall in battle your soul starts to loosen from its bond to your body. Rez spells are a jolt of aether directly into your corporeal aether so your soul rejoins your body and you can get back on your feet. They're also canonically very dangerous and difficult to cast and we get away with chaingunning them because we have a naturally large pool of aether as well as several crystals of light, in addition to the skill to cast the spells properly, ie you draw on ambient aether rather than your own reserve
in addendum: Hit Points are not just physical health. its also mental fortitude and morale. this is why the boss roaring is damaging to you, its shaking your resolve and healing magic can help soothe that.
scholar magic leans heavily into the morale aspect, as most of its healing spells are magically enhanced pep talks

the more complex the wound and the more life-threatening the wound, the more aether you need. You run the risk of killing yourself or something else if you do "too much" healing.

HPs aren’t representative of actual damage- it’s an abstraction of how long until you get the fatal blow. This is why tanks can get stabbed for 30 minutes straight in a dungeon but npcs die instantly to a single stab.
There is no corpse run (like in eq) or ghostwalk (like in WoW) because in ffxiv you never die. Even in a full raid wipe its reset, as though it never happened. The WoL canonically one shots the game

No they basically accelerate natural healing, so any mortal blow is mortal and anything that cannot heal cannot be healed.
However unless the blow is explicitly mortal you can triage.
That's why you and Krile can bring Y'shtola back from Zenos' slash because she was bleeding out, and that's also why she needed a surgeon to actually stitch her back up and to rest.

If the bodies already healed to the point of scar tissue theres nothing for healing magic to heal. The body has gone "eh, good enough" and sadly thats how nature works. Healing magic hastens the bodies natural regeneration to restore damage. If theres nothing in the bodies opinion to restore it does nothing.

NIN is a hybrid melee-ranged since half of their attacks hit at a distance and they have the Mug buff. VPR seems to be entirely melee focused, we have to wait until the media tour stuff to actually see how it plays but the general consideration is that it'll probably be like a DPS equivalent to Gunbreaker except with some thiefsword super attack stance mode thing. it's melee through and through but uses Scouting gear.
Yoshida's works should be taken with a grain of salt but it does sound like he wants it to be more complex than, say, RPR, so it'll probably be very combo-proc'y.

Midlanders look fine standing still but have that goofy ass run that kind of ruins them in my opinion. It also depends on what kind of glams you intend on using. Highlanders look fat in most robes, for example.
