Starr's admittedly stellar performance aside, I'd say he's one of the blandest protag the series have seen in a while. He feels like he has less agency than fricking WoL in 14, a literal blank slate, silent self insert.

Clive fricking rocks. There are cutscenes that's just him trash-talking the boss leading up to a fight that get me pumped just from that. When he taunts Kupka by letting him know HE killed Benedikta, that shit was so fricking awesome.
Personally i would have preferred they pulled a FFXII and made Cid the actual protagonist of the game, while we experience the plot through Clive who also has his own conflicts and character progression.
Too bad he exists in such a boring world, with such a generic story, and repetitive gameplay.
