Advertising it just to promote your channel would count as profit sake. Uranium had the author asking for donations and immediately got wristslapped by Nintendo. Of course they've done nothing to it's zombified release because DMCAing can cost em money.
In fact, i don't even he was planning on releasing it. Fangame/mod gays like to pull this kind of shit, trying to get DMCA or mention they'd would, just for pity followership and clout.
The modder was building up too much "better hurry up and download, because I bet there's a DMCA coming!" "hype" for someone with something they actually plan to release.
The reality of what happened is the gay was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Palworld is the current hotness in the public perception, and it's already got a lot of Pokemon-related shitflinging as is. So to create a Pokemon Mod, which could add further shitflinging and cause normalgays to confuse Palworld with an official product, would require NoA and/or TPCi Lawyers to go into action in order to prevent said confusion from blowing up.
If he just waited awhile until no one cared about Palworld anymore and its playerbase plummeted to quadruple or lower-end quintuple digits, and ESPECIALLY made sure not to bring attention to his shit until it was already finished and unleashed onto the internet, he could've made and released his mod no problem.
But that assumes there was an actual genuine intent behind this mod and not another soulless trend hopper trying to capitalize on a volatile social boom for quick profit, which, based on the situation, is exactly the case.
That's just getting paid for it with extra steps
