Module powercreep is also annoying. Units that were kinda good and got a good module become moronic, and meh units with meh modules, you might as well not even bother.

I agree with this. It was fun when the gameplay was mostly a puzzle with interesting mechanics. These days the gameplay presents you with a keyhole and you need the right key as mechanics became detrimental effects that you need to fully engage with which diminishes and limits the amount of ways to approach a level. I recently stopped playing AK because it's only gonna get worse with the powercreep, something that they couldn't get under control because they refuse to nerf OP ops. They want to have their cake and eat it too by releasing OP ops and having hard content.

I see reading comprehension is hard to come by here. Arknights filtered me. I did not enjoy the gameplay anymore so I didn't stick around. Why would I continue playing something I did not enjoy?
If I had to say one thing, it would be the continued lack of QoL. A short second would be the 6 (now 7) month delay that sucked all the fun out of exploration and discovery. I would probably have stuck around even with the diminishing gameplay quality if the lack of QoL didn't make the game such a hassle.

Arknights is probably the best f2p gacha game out there, I would definitely recommend it as a timesink if you have nothing else to play. Has a spark system for limited time characters (300 pulls) but plenty of ways to build up gacha currency for free. You don't need to spend hundreds to be great at the game, the 3 star characters you get for free will carry you forever until you want to swap them for 6 stars.

Events are easy as frick for anyone playing for more than a month, and can 99% of the time be deleted on spawn. I think the only one that wasn't that simple was Emperor's Blade, and I actually really liked his fight.

I always thought a mode like this for more "scenic" fights could be fun, a mode where its one big map but you only fight sections at the time, but I was thinking it more to show quick events during story, like a trying to make a quick run with constant parts where the party is blocked or maybe ad a way to deal with climatic fights, showing how long the fight drags and how it moves through the location.
They could do something like some of the Fire Emblem games, where the characters can move around the map and play their attack animations or spell effects to act as cutscenes.

Just the event stages afaik. If you want stuff from the event (specifically operators, skins, and potential tokens) you'll want to use it on events that have record restoration active.

I'm kinda spoiled for choice regarding guards and guards. Blaze, Irene, Gavial the Invincible, Silverash, Eunectes, Hoshiguma, Mudrock, Saria, Blemishine...
All of them are top level with at least one skill maxed out. And I never really need more than Blaze and Saria. Sure, sometimes you want a single operator for a certain map, but more often than not my powerful ops are just collecting dust. It is all about being too comfortable with the ops I'm used to using, I know. I should force myself to use a new "default" team to mix it up.
Also BTW for those that did it....so I want to activate Under Tides so to get Gladiia. If you unlock the event with the discs you have, then will the event be active for a time? Or will it be constantly active? Asking because I don't want to use up my disc for nothing.
So I can unlock it without fear it will go inactive after some time?

however they do get event restorations and you'll be able to get an operator and furniture set from the event, but you'll have to wait until that becomes active

Doubtful. As I saw it, Gladiia was tied to stage 5 of the event as I remember once you clear that stage. She's nowhere to be found there. Not to mention that since the store is also inactive then this means that she is indeed unavailable...for good.
Unless they will make her available via headhunting after some time passes but this is also doubtful.
So now I'm focusing on clearing out Dossoles and making sure I get all the goodies there. Couldn't finish Ideal City due to a certain Minimalist's FLYING FORTRESS OF A GODDAMN DRONE, so at least I will try to finish this event.

Yeah but I haven’t spent anything on Arknights. I made an account in December of 2021 but I didn’t start playing until just before the invitation to wine rerun last year so I did as much as I could through all of the side stories and part of the main story. Plus I did a lot of Orundum farming thanks to events having Orirock Cubes as drops.
Feels wasteful for someone to farm orundum while being this new, but you aren't that new either if you started during ItW.
But as long as you're happy with how things turn out, that's all that matters.

Focus on the medium-tier units, not just on maximizing your few high-tier units.
The majority of all maps can be beaten by medium units. Having a bunch of leveled-up medium units is much more useful than a single leveled-up top unit.

it does overwrite it, but crimson solitaire goes into effective record restore immediately, meaning you can still get the candle rewards, all monthy squads unlock too so you can retroactively get those rewards if you missed them

Having fun. This was the first run of the map. The goal was to kill the robots before they activate with Pudding + Sora + Warfarin. It worked well enough.
I know right? Those armors in general are irritating due to being stupidly strong and tanky. Only good thing about them is that they are slow as frick and aren't as tough when met with arts.
Also could hold the line thanks to Ayerscarpe and SilverAsh unleashing terrible damage to Dorothy's pet project. Ethan too due to his dodge and thus tanking both the damn incoherent mess of a boss. Perfumer also helped (helped further with her being E2 and having a maxed out module) with holding the line and also having Shining casting her DEF buffing skill.
But again, it's mostly thanks to Utage and Ethan with dealing the killing blow and allowing to focus on that damn armor (SilverAsh also wiped the floor of anyone that came close so that the other operators would focus on the missile-totting piece of junk).

the ball math demons seem to share their HP with the boss, if you burst DPS him, they aren't even a problem
remember the big burst of damage after the boss teleports gets shared across all currently deployed ops, deploying 1 op means they take the full brunt of damage, deploying all 8 means the boss does almost no damage with that bomb
Yeah I saw that. Problem is the bigass balls are pretty strong due to their attacks being arts-based and they take 50% more damage when someone is blocking them. The only one competent for this is Shalem who is an Arts Defender. He's E1 maxed, have all the resources...except goddamn money.

Also, should I do the second pull on the beginner banner, or am I fine with my current box? II believe my next target should be reed the shadow flame.

I noticed there's a selector out, if I'm enjoying arknights in like 15 days, is there an obvious pick that would drastically improve things?
Because it's a new account without good vanguard options outside courier and until later a great defender at 20 cost is much more flexible than a stronger defender with a 34 cost, especially when factoring in the anon will have texas omo constantly draining dp to kill troublesome enemies.
You can call hoshi trash all you like but for me she was one of the big keys to finally being able to start clearing maps to e2 my stronger operators. Penance is much stronger when factoring late game but she has quirks that will make her tricky to really utilize until later.
That's my rational behind saying to prioritize hoshi now when penance is there.
Early game I'd argue Beagle and Cardigan are fine. I only found Hoshi useful much later when her huge HP started mattering more than her Def. I'd also say Penance, while strong, is going to help him less than an E2 SilverAsh would in the Reunion story chapters.
Penance would basically invalidate Skullshitter and the rest of the crew prior to Patriot, but I honestly don't see how Hoshi E2 would be more critical overall to a new player given how replaceable she is in most normal stages up to the end of Reunion.

literally nothing wrong with using them on 3*s, Beagle lasts a good long time as a cheap defender and so does Kroos for sniping, plus they're decent filler for IS and if desperate, guidegayging.

Spot is good for IS and Greyy seems to have barely had anything put into him in the picture, just an E1. Beagle is fine and can sub in for bulk if you need it and Cuora can't hold everything off by herself.
Adnachiel is meh but if you need a third cheap sniper I guess he's fine, Catapult is shit, yes. I fricking hate her because her recruit quote is so long for a 3*.

So the Banner with Texas The Omertosa and Penance is on the horizon and it seems you can get some of the limited run operators. Which should I get?
I saw Nearl The Radiant Knight and Skadi The Corrupting Heart among those. I don't have normal Skadi (and probably won't get her because RNJesus hates my guts) so I want to get the former since I have a E2 Nearl already.
Nearl2 does true damage, if what she's hitting can be blocked she will unironically end up doing more damage than Surtr or Ch'en2.
Skadi2 meanwhile is more of a buffer to cope with not having ops max level and other QoL for lazy people with S2, but with S3 she's an amazing buffer and does a surprising amount of damage.
It's a matter of what you need.
Nearl2 does a lot of damage, and summons an extra body, but that's kind of it, ultimately replaceable because damage dealers are almost interchangeable.
Skadi2 gives more utility, but you aren't going to clear any new content you weren't already if you need things to beat stages, she's a win more card.
Frick. Tough choice between a nuke of a knight and the ultimate support operator.
Maybe I should start saving enough money for both so to get 60 10 man pulls...

Poze is great. I E2'd her a while ago because my sniper lineup was a bit too lacking in variety and she's pretty close to a main stay in my squad now.

Got Arknights on the 7th so I'm very new still, F2P, currently up to story mission 4-10.
So far the gacha system feels super generous I'm constantly seeing gold, I've spent all my premium currency I've got so far to flesh out my roster and this is what I've ended up with.
No idea who I should be focusing on, I've just been focusing on my 6 stars and my 5 stars in the order I got them. Nightingale and weedy still sitting on level 1 Skill 1 as I got them back to back this morning.

Anyway pretty good for a start, 5 6*s and a large selection of versatile 5*s is good.
If you got Myrtle (4*) bring her and use the skill 1.
Gravel is also important. Use Kroos while you're gathering materials for other snipers, as well as the other 3*s which are cheap to upgrade.

They're your main source of yellow certs later.
If you care about outfits/skins save the originite primes for them as they are non-renewable, otherwise the best use is to put them towards level up packs (up to a point). Don't forget to do annihilation weekly.
I would upgrade Mlynar and then Exusiai as far as the 6*s go, and Red, Silence, Specter, Lappland (situational), and maybe Texas for the 5*s.
Don't promote Kafka unless you absolutely adore her as she does not increase her sleep effect time when promoted and simply costs more to deploy.

No just keep Beans she's a good unit. Myrtle's just sheer convenience since she's very good at generating a lot of DP at once.
You click the tags you see on your recruitment screen in-game, the site shows you the best possible results. For example, the tags "DP-Recovery" and "Healing" obtained together will always produce a Myrtle, while "Survival" and "Sniper" together always produce Jessica. Keep in mind that it puts Robot at the bottom though and Robot is a rare tag.
There's some pretty good outfits. I generally stop at the L70 pack but feel free to get them all, they give equivalent orundum and bonus items.
Don't throw Kafka in the bin, just don't promote her. She's an excellent stall unit that stops enemies for a fair chunk of time, it's just inefficient to increase her cost since she's usually getting retreated right after deployment then being slapped down again later.
Yes, if you have DP-Rec and Support (not SupportER, keep that in mind) you will obtain Zima.

Certain tags such as Specialist, Fast-Redeploy, Shift, Debuff, Nuker, and Support will always produce a 4* so pick those if you don't see anything better.
Summon and Crowd-Control will always produce a 5*.
Robot operators are only available from recruitment and the Robot tag is rare, but will be eliminated from possible recruitment if you select a time of 4:00 or more. If you wish to recruit a robot op or add to their potentials, make sure it's at 3:50. Otherwise, always 9:00.

The story was decent and the music was great but the Seaborn are probably the most irritating enemy type in the game and it introduced a spreading tile infection gimmick. Hope you have Gnosis, go give it a try. Stultifera Navis should be in the event archive if you want to play it right now.

Somewhat below mediocre. You only have a handful of good ops plus the lack of a single meta severely weakens your roster, though you won't get your ass fricked by most events except the seaborn ones. Also, E2 your shit already.
We're past 3rd anniversary (already 4 on cn), obviously you've missed shitload of freebies. But the game's generous and singleplayer so it doesnt really matter and in time you'll get access to events you've missed. If you're willing to rerol, in ~two weeks we're getting one of the most *fixed* operators in game.
Welp, I personally am against rerolls, but that's your best chance of getting her and she would ease your life massively. Also, 2 weeks isn't set in stone, global fricked up the schedule pretty bad, might as well be May's end.
And RPG and strategy game. The former is where you explore the world and do combat. The latter is probably about building a base and upgrading it like you do in the original game with the R.I. mobile base.
Also as I remember you go around making alliances with different factions.
I also hope it won't be a gacha since I am full with the original game.

I wouldn't say she's trash, but she fell off hard after objectively better defenders got released, just like the rest of the other Protectors. Nian is the only noteworthy op from their archetype.
i can take that, the powercreep is real, but she has proven herself useful in Near Light and chapter 9 i think, with those mortars. Though i agree Skadi has almost no use, she has a place with the AH sometimes

Put Cuora, Gravel, Spot, or Noir Corne in front of him. Your units as so weak and low level that they would be able to easily stall him until you finish everything else, have full DP, and can deploy a nuke blockade will all their skills ready to maul him once the 2nd firebomb is dropped.

Just stick Gravel in front of him with a ranged attacker behind her from safe distance.

All the "hard" content now is damage sponges that will stun/oneshot anything it comes close to, and you're left with using the newest broken toys to delete things before they get there. Using the new units in old content isn't fun either as they'll steamroll everything.
Atleast the events are often on the mid level a new player can play and have fun with, but starting the game now, I don't think it would be that good of an experience.
Module powercreep is also annoying. Units that were kinda good and got a good module become moronic, and meh units with meh modules, you might as well not even bother.

I agree with this. It was fun when the gameplay was mostly a puzzle with interesting mechanics. These days the gameplay presents you with a keyhole and you need the right key as mechanics became detrimental effects that you need to fully engage with which diminishes and limits the amount of ways to approach a level. I recently stopped playing AK because it's only gonna get worse with the powercreep, something that they couldn't get under control because they refuse to nerf OP ops. They want to have their cake and eat it too by releasing OP ops and having hard content.

If I had to say one thing, it would be the continued lack of QoL. A short second would be the 6 (now 7) month delay that sucked all the fun out of exploration and discovery. I would probably have stuck around even with the diminishing gameplay quality if the lack of QoL didn't make the game such a hassle.

Arknights is probably the best f2p gacha game out there, I would definitely recommend it as a timesink if you have nothing else to play. Has a spark system for limited time characters (300 pulls) but plenty of ways to build up gacha currency for free. You don't need to spend hundreds to be great at the game, the 3 star characters you get for free will carry you forever until you want to swap them for 6 stars.

I don't know the reason he dropped King's Raid, but powercreep is usually one of the reasons people drop stuff, and it's already happening here. Gavial is a better Blaze, Pozyomka is a better Schwarz, and all defender units are powercreeped by duelists like Mudrock and Penance that just do what they do and also murder what's hitting them as well, medics are being deleted from existence and replace with wandering medics for status effect content and pseudo casters for general content.

Events are easy as frick for anyone playing for more than a month, and can 99% of the time be deleted on spawn. I think the only one that wasn't that simple was Emperor's Blade, and I actually really liked his fight.

FYI only operators with alters give you back your cost, Mel won't give you anything but shes still one of the best units for newbies.
Vigna is awesome later don the line but you won't need her for now, replace her with a pioneer vanguard until you get better at opening with flagbearers and DP-on-kill combos (also Cantabile takes some getting used to since she is a new archetype)
Asbestos is kinda wack and you don't really need 2 defenders if you have good guards, and Specter is awesome so just use Saria
Also from your units focus on building Kroos and Mel since they're cheap, and then Spectre and Warfarin, hold off on 6 stars since their costs are huge but once you go for it get goldenglow to E2 first since she carry you through some hellish stages later on.
Are you new? Better to just bench the 5/6 stars and make a 3/4 star solid team so you can grind/clear a lot of content already then start levelling shit.

I always thought a mode like this for more "scenic" fights could be fun, a mode where its one big map but you only fight sections at the time, but I was thinking it more to show quick events during story, like a trying to make a quick run with constant parts where the party is blocked or maybe ad a way to deal with climatic fights, showing how long the fight drags and how it moves through the location.
But is fun to see a whole mode about it.
They could do something like some of the Fire Emblem games, where the characters can move around the map and play their attack animations or spell effects to act as cutscenes.

Just the event stages afaik. If you want stuff from the event (specifically operators, skins, and potential tokens) you'll want to use it on events that have record restoration active.
So in other words getting rewards isn't a problem if said events have record restoration enabled?

I'm kinda spoiled for choice regarding guards and guards. Blaze, Irene, Gavial the Invincible, Silverash, Eunectes, Hoshiguma, Mudrock, Saria, Blemishine...
All of them are top level with at least one skill maxed out. And I never really need more than Blaze and Saria. Sure, sometimes you want a single operator for a certain map, but more often than not my powerful ops are just collecting dust. It is all about being too comfortable with the ops I'm used to using, I know. I should force myself to use a new "default" team to mix it up.
I find myself in that same position pretty often too.

Luckily a certain Radiant Knight is going to get her event rerun, so I'm very, very determined to get her (especially that I got her original persona's trust at 200%).

events stop getting reruns once the event stages become unlockable, so you will miss out on shop resources
however they do get event restorations and you'll be able to get an operator and furniture set from the event, but you'll have to wait until that becomes active
at the very least you can complete the event now and grab Gladiia immediately later once it goes live

Yeah but I haven’t spent anything on Arknights. I made an account in December of 2021 but I didn’t start playing until just before the invitation to wine rerun last year so I did as much as I could through all of the side stories and part of the main story. Plus I did a lot of Orundum farming thanks to events having Orirock Cubes as drops.
Feels wasteful for someone to farm orundum while being this new, but you aren't that new either if you started during ItW.
But as long as you're happy with how things turn out, that's all that matters.

Focus on the medium-tier units, not just on maximizing your few high-tier units.
The majority of all maps can be beaten by medium units. Having a bunch of leveled-up medium units is much more useful than a single leveled-up top unit.

it does overwrite it, but crimson solitaire goes into effective record restore immediately, meaning you can still get the candle rewards, all monthy squads unlock too so you can retroactively get those rewards if you missed them

Having fun. This was the first run of the map. The goal was to kill the robots before they activate with Pudding + Sora + Warfarin. It worked well enough.
I know right? Those armors in general are irritating due to being stupidly strong and tanky. Only good thing about them is that they are slow as frick and aren't as tough when met with arts.
Also could hold the line thanks to Ayerscarpe and SilverAsh unleashing terrible damage to Dorothy's pet project. Ethan too due to his dodge and thus tanking both the damn incoherent mess of a boss. Perfumer also helped (helped further with her being E2 and having a maxed out module) with holding the line and also having Shining casting her DEF buffing skill.
But again, it's mostly thanks to Utage and Ethan with dealing the killing blow and allowing to focus on that damn armor (SilverAsh also wiped the floor of anyone that came close so that the other operators would focus on the missile-totting piece of junk).
Trust farms to grind the mats:

High rarity E2 90 ops needed but they can be replaced by ops that do a similar job, low op count makes it easy to add extra help.

remember the big burst of damage after the boss teleports gets shared across all currently deployed ops, deploying 1 op means they take the full brunt of damage, deploying all 8 means the boss does almost no damage with that bomb
Yeah I saw that. Problem is the bigass balls are pretty strong due to their attacks being arts-based and they take 50% more damage when someone is blocking them. The only one competent for this is Shalem who is an Arts Defender. He's E1 maxed, have all the resources...except goddamn money.

Because it's a new account without good vanguard options outside courier and until later a great defender at 20 cost is much more flexible than a stronger defender with a 34 cost, especially when factoring in the anon will have texas omo constantly draining dp to kill troublesome enemies.
You can call hoshi trash all you like but for me she was one of the big keys to finally being able to start clearing maps to e2 my stronger operators. Penance is much stronger when factoring late game but she has quirks that will make her tricky to really utilize until later.
That's my rational behind saying to prioritize hoshi now when penance is there.
Early game I'd argue Beagle and Cardigan are fine. I only found Hoshi useful much later when her huge HP started mattering more than her Def. I'd also say Penance, while strong, is going to help him less than an E2 SilverAsh would in the Reunion story chapters.
Penance would basically invalidate Skullshitter and the rest of the crew prior to Patriot, but I honestly don't see how Hoshi E2 would be more critical overall to a new player given how replaceable she is in most normal stages up to the end of Reunion.
literally nothing wrong with using them on 3*s, Beagle lasts a good long time as a cheap defender and so does Kroos for sniping, plus they're decent filler for IS and if desperate, guidegayging.
I specifically outlined only those 3*s and then started with other rarities, I should've added Catapult because, frick, she's so irrelevant I didn't even notice her.
Kroos is broken for what she is and Cardigan is the cutest and the best 3* defender.
Spot is good for IS and Greyy seems to have barely had anything put into him in the picture, just an E1. Beagle is fine and can sub in for bulk if you need it and Cuora can't hold everything off by herself.
Adnachiel is meh but if you need a third cheap sniper I guess he's fine, Catapult is shit, yes. I fricking hate her because her recruit quote is so long for a 3*.

So the Banner with Texas The Omertosa and Penance is on the horizon and it seems you can get some of the limited run operators. Which should I get?
I saw Nearl The Radiant Knight and Skadi The Corrupting Heart among those. I don't have normal Skadi (and probably won't get her because RNJesus hates my guts) so I want to get the former since I have a E2 Nearl already.
Nearl2 does true damage, if what she's hitting can be blocked she will unironically end up doing more damage than Surtr or Ch'en2.
Skadi2 meanwhile is more of a buffer to cope with not having ops max level and other QoL for lazy people with S2, but with S3 she's an amazing buffer and does a surprising amount of damage.
It's a matter of what you need.
Nearl2 does a lot of damage, and summons an extra body, but that's kind of it, ultimately replaceable because damage dealers are almost interchangeable.
Skadi2 gives more utility, but you aren't going to clear any new content you weren't already if you need things to beat stages, she's a win more card.
Frick. Tough choice between a nuke of a knight and the ultimate support operator.

Gravel is also important. Use Kroos while you're gathering materials for other snipers, as well as the other 3*s which are cheap to upgrade.

If you care about outfits/skins save the originite primes for them as they are non-renewable, otherwise the best use is to put them towards level up packs (up to a point). Don't forget to do annihilation weekly.
I would upgrade Mlynar and then Exusiai as far as the 6*s go, and Red, Silence, Specter, Lappland (situational), and maybe Texas for the 5*s.
Don't promote Kafka unless you absolutely adore her as she does not increase her sleep effect time when promoted and simply costs more to deploy.

No just keep Beans she's a good unit. Myrtle's just sheer convenience since she's very good at generating a lot of DP at once.
You click the tags you see on your recruitment screen in-game, the site shows you the best possible results. For example, the tags "DP-Recovery" and "Healing" obtained together will always produce a Myrtle, while "Survival" and "Sniper" together always produce Jessica. Keep in mind that it puts Robot at the bottom though and Robot is a rare tag.
There's some pretty good outfits. I generally stop at the L70 pack but feel free to get them all, they give equivalent orundum and bonus items.
Don't throw Kafka in the bin, just don't promote her. She's an excellent stall unit that stops enemies for a fair chunk of time, it's just inefficient to increase her cost since she's usually getting retreated right after deployment then being slapped down again later.

Certain tags such as Specialist, Fast-Redeploy, Shift, Debuff, Nuker, and Support will always produce a 4* so pick those if you don't see anything better.
Summon and Crowd-Control will always produce a 5*.
Robot operators are only available from recruitment and the Robot tag is rare, but will be eliminated from possible recruitment if you select a time of 4:00 or more. If you wish to recruit a robot op or add to their potentials, make sure it's at 3:50. Otherwise, always 9:00.

The story was decent and the music was great but the Seaborn are probably the most irritating enemy type in the game and it introduced a spreading tile infection gimmick. Hope you have Gnosis, go give it a try. Stultifera Navis should be in the event archive if you want to play it right now.

He cast it each time he lose 30%hp so like set up 3 defense lines against the guy, stall him before you kill everybody else. Now back alley mission is gonna be a b***h, idk how to beat it with your team, probably try to pull him with both pullers, if they manage to drag him a little you can block before he reaches top.

I beat him with concentrated firepower, but only now I realized I could've used a decel binder to slow that damn arsonist to make my life easier.
But honestly, None of Your Business is an irritating enemy and I bet he will appear in the EX stages because why not?
Put Cuora, Gravel, Spot, or Noir Corne in front of him. Your units as so weak and low level that they would be able to easily stall him until you finish everything else, have full DP, and can deploy a nuke blockade will all their skills ready to maul him once the 2nd firebomb is dropped.

Just stick Gravel in front of him with a ranged attacker behind her from safe distance.
Drops 1 bomb, retreat her, drop Yato just out of burn radius. Repeat and drop Gravel instead of Yato for the last one.
