Souls games are Armored Core games since they run on the same engine and AC was there first
Design and gameplay-wise it's pretty similar to The Surge (body part targeting, "armor" being extremities, head and chest pieces, proper ranged weapons) with Sekiro's stagger system. Levels are lineal, Lies of P style.

It's absolutely fantastic. Have played all the souls games but never an AC. Picked this one up on release and it was my GOTY of 2023.
goty 2023 was between a 3h platform puzzler Planet of Lana; and the gameboy quality sokoban Void Stranger.

So here comes 621, some absolute nobody who Walter scoops up and just starts throwing out jobs, who is not only brave enough to actually climb the wall (which Iguazu mocks you about not getting a chance to AND he b***hed out at the last moment), successful enough to be brought along for the Wormkilller mission with the actual Wormkiller weapon (Iguazu just being a meat shield to distract the worm), and beyond that being capable enough to race ahead of both Arquebus and Balam while they were at war with each other and striking out at both sides evenly, 621 is effectively what Iguazu wanted to be, but never could be. In fact so much so is that the case that his last line is literally "I always envied you...the Freelancer, who had it all."

5 and VD's online was the worst fumble in the entire series including Ninebreaker and both games were severely crippled because of it. You are confirmed not an Armored Core fan, you can leave the thread now.
I'm not exactly sure where this one anti-5th gen chimp came from, but you can certainly frick right off. Conquest was the peak of AC multiplayer by several orders of magnitude, and PvP was still stronger in VD than anywhere else in the series. The only thing it was lacking in was variety for the singleplayer campaign in VD and length in V.

It focuses around a really tight lock on. You get a couple of heals, not near as many as in souls. Like soul’s armor system, you can customize your look with parts that all have different complex values for defense etc.
There is pvp. The real challenge of the game is the bosses.
That’s all that really comes to mind. There’s a million things about it that aren’t like souls, such as combat execution, but you didn’t ask for that.
