I'm glad AC6 is taking way more notes from things like action games and 4th gen than garbage like PS2 era AC that should stay dead. Also having multiple melee combos on weapons goes a long fricking way from every blade being a single button push with the same fricking animation in like what, a dozen games?

There are like 1-3 instances in each 1-LR game where that doesn't work. If your AC has ok mobility, then extension missiles crack open most enemy ACs/bosses unless they have anti-missile extensions AND are super fast. I would just use machine guns or rifles for small MTs and then shit on mission targets with a swarm of missiles. Did you just not know how to use missiles effectively?

You have got to be kidding me. Why is FromSoftware still developing for 10 year old console hardware?
It's not about graphics. The developer has to restrict development of the game to be able to run on 10 year old hardware instead of current gen hardware. That affects gameplay(physics, full environment destruction), level design(can't create ultra massive levels / setpieces since Xbox One and PS4 don't have solid state drives), etctera.
They weren't moving hardware and software in 2018 like the PS4 was. Why would they bet in a future platform's success instead of making a game for what was already available? Sony makes more money on each copy sold of PS5 games than From, not to mention the actual interest in moving PS5s, and even they kept most of their biggest games cross gen.

It somewhat did. Basically keep the enemy within the square on your screen and you will automatically lock on to the enemy within range. The square can be modified with parts to get wider if I remember correctly.

They are different, in 6 you don't need to control your camera, it will keep the lockon like a z target or souls lock on, others ac you have an area in your view that you need to keep on top of the enemies so if they fly out of your view you'll need to find them back fast to stop eating free hits
it has soft lock on. Basically, you targeting system was dictated by a part that created a box in the HUD, as long as the enemies stayed inside that box you could hit them.
According to some of the ACgays around here, not losing track of your enemy and being able to turn onn a dime means the game is too casual. And since enemies telegraph their melee attacks, it's also just like a Souls game. They aren't wrong when they say that the hard lock on makes the game easy, by the way. For a very long time AC had tank controls and didn't allow you to use the analog stick to aim, so a lot of the difficulty came from the fact that enemies, who can basically keep you in their line of sight all the time, could just go around you and shoot your life away while you're slowly turning to face them. 4 and 4A are the easiest in the series because YOU can outmaneuver whatever you're fighting against

You'd get an aiming reticule that will apply a soft lock for your weapon aim to whatever enters the reticule, your AC's control will stay the same however and the camera will not automatically turn around to follow an enemy >AC6
You have hard lock on as an option in which you will have a full lock on the enemy, so your AC movement and camera will also change according to the target's position
in every other AC game, you had to keep enemies in your lock box to hit them, part of the challenge was to keep enemies in your lock box (im pretty sure in gen 4 your whole screen was sort of a lock box i think idk)
this new entry, appears to have a lock on system similar to souls games, which would remove an element of difficulty, this is mainly a concern for AC vs AC fights
it was supposed to be a balance to some of the stronger weapons as well, usually they'd have restrictions like needing to be stationary or having a smaller soft lock-on reticle making it harder to aim. Seems like that's being thrown out the window for this one
The lock-on system in Armored Core was always based around your FCS (represented by the giant rectangle in the center of the screen in this pic, it looks different based on your FCS and generation of game), Different FCS meant different lock-on distances, width, and calculation speed of targeting (with most iterations also tying count and speed of missile locks to this as well), and a massive degree of the combat was making sure your target was as in the center of your FCS while you were as far from theirs as possible, ideally dodging their locks entirely and never letting them close locks on you.
The reason why this is a big change is the fact that with hard lock-on, you have a system that basically orients your AC against the enemy, which means you don't actually need to worry about keeping something in your locks in order to maintain fire on them. Where in older games this was actually an extremely important attribute, so much so that certain FCS were considered utterly useless in most scenarios despite having perfect lock speed/distance for the weapon layout you want, in this case it means that the importance of soft locks is now far lesser because if your AC will automatically follow the target, you don't need to worry about types of FCS beyond mild distances/missile locks. It's ultimately not the worst thing in the world, but it's a very striking change in a series where this has been a majorly defining attribute.
The autism part, however, just comes with outsider morons parroting "DARK SOULS DARK SOULS DARK SOULS" in order to get (you)'s. Almost nobody is actually upset by this, it's just going to be another stark change in generations (similar to the move between 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and 4 and 5).
anything in that rectangle your ac will try to aim and you can shoot anything in them, anything outside your ac will ignore and not aim at them. missiles need to keep the target for longer in the square before your ac locks the missile onto them for you to fire. some weapons has a larger area, others a much smaller, shapes will vary too
this looks like it could be okay though. this demo showcases one instance of good general encounter design but also a lot of dark souls boss fights and a big open pointless area that i hope they populate in the full game

I played AC3 and Silent Line and thought they were overrated, clunky, samey games. The overall game is fine for what it was back then, but they were shitty PS2 games in which you just jumped around ATs or enemy ACs like a spastic trying to get hits in. AC4 was where it got good, letting you dash, be way faster, get closer and hit hard. I'm glad AC6 is taking way more notes from things like action games and 4th gen than garbage like PS2 era AC that should stay dead. Also having multiple melee combos on weapons goes a long fricking way from every blade being a single button push with the same fricking animation in like what, a dozen games?

There are like 1-3 instances in each 1-LR game where that doesn't work. If your AC has ok mobility, then extension missiles crack open most enemy ACs/bosses unless they have anti-missile extensions AND are super fast. I would just use machine guns or rifles for small MTs and then shit on mission targets with a swarm of missiles. Did you just not know how to use missiles effectively?
An invasion mode is one thing that I actually would want from Dark Souls. It would fit in very well with the whole mercenary vs mercenary angle of the series

They been daying no exploration, but that stage looked huge and i really doubt every stage its gonna have its own huge area. Its probably like Demons Soul, there might be a dozen or so areas and multiple missions take place there. Which essentially makes it an exploration game.
I think they were saying no exploration in the sense of seamless pseudo openworld design like Souls.
But yeah I am happy that the actual mission stages look expansive as frick. That's all I ever wanted from a modern AC game.

It somewhat did. Basically keep the enemy within the square on your screen and you will automatically lock on to the enemy within range. The square can be modified with parts to get wider if I remember correctly.

They are different, in 6 you don't need to control your camera, it will keep the lockon like a z target or souls lock on, others ac you have an area in your view that you need to keep on top of the enemies so if they fly out of your view you'll need to find them back fast to stop eating free hits
it has soft lock on. Basically, you targeting system was dictated by a part that created a box in the HUD, as long as the enemies stayed inside that box you could hit them.
According to some of the ACgays around here, not losing track of your enemy and being able to turn onn a dime means the game is too casual. And since enemies telegraph their melee attacks, it's also just like a Souls game.
They aren't wrong when they say that the hard lock on makes the game easy, by the way. For a very long time AC had tank controls and didn't allow you to use the analog stick to aim, so a lot of the difficulty came from the fact that enemies, who can basically keep you in their line of sight all the time, could just go around you and shoot your life away while you're slowly turning to face them. 4 and 4A are the easiest in the series because YOU can outmaneuver whatever you're fighting against

in every other AC game, you had to keep enemies in your lock box to hit them, part of the challenge was to keep enemies in your lock box (im pretty sure in gen 4 your whole screen was sort of a lock box i think idk)
this new entry, appears to have a lock on system similar to souls games, which would remove an element of difficulty, this is mainly a concern for AC vs AC fights
it was supposed to be a balance to some of the stronger weapons as well, usually they'd have restrictions like needing to be stationary or having a smaller soft lock-on reticle making it harder to aim. Seems like that's being thrown out the window for this one
The lock-on system in Armored Core was always based around your FCS (represented by the giant rectangle in the center of the screen in this pic, it looks different based on your FCS and generation of game), Different FCS meant different lock-on distances, width, and calculation speed of targeting (with most iterations also tying count and speed of missile locks to this as well), and a massive degree of the combat was making sure your target was as in the center of your FCS while you were as far from theirs as possible, ideally dodging their locks entirely and never letting them close locks on you.
The reason why this is a big change is the fact that with hard lock-on, you have a system that basically orients your AC against the enemy, which means you don't actually need to worry about keeping something in your locks in order to maintain fire on them. Where in older games this was actually an extremely important attribute, so much so that certain FCS were considered utterly useless in most scenarios despite having perfect lock speed/distance for the weapon layout you want, in this case it means that the importance of soft locks is now far lesser because if your AC will automatically follow the target, you don't need to worry about types of FCS beyond mild distances/missile locks. It's ultimately not the worst thing in the world, but it's a very striking change in a series where this has been a majorly defining attribute.
The autism part, however, just comes with outsider morons parroting "DARK SOULS DARK SOULS DARK SOULS" in order to get (you)'s. Almost nobody is actually upset by this, it's just going to be another stark change in generations (similar to the move between 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and 4 and 5).
anything in that rectangle your ac will try to aim and you can shoot anything in them, anything outside your ac will ignore and not aim at them. missiles need to keep the target for longer in the square before your ac locks the missile onto them for you to fire. some weapons has a larger area, others a much smaller, shapes will vary too
