The one thing I hate about daemon x machina so much is they shove mecha and have human characters being the center of the attention. But here? The company or group would use their company logo and their mecha as their face.

It's always been a large part of the games, tips and tricks had sections devoted to schemes and tournaments back in the day, and arena was always there, online functionality only expanded it

As a casual who's never played Armoured Core before, the gameplay of AC6 actually reminds me of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, which is another arena fighter. Same lock on, similar ranged and melee attacks.
And the combat in XV2 gets boring really fast. So, I hope that's not the case for AC6.
Armored Core has more build variety to it than Xenoverse ever will, so there will be a decent amount of longevity to it

After seeing the pvp showcase, I don't think close-range tanks are beatable by close-range lightweights. Hard lock and uncapped turning means you can't ever win the DPS race.
Maybe they'll balance patch it away somehow but I doubt that's even possible since it's so linked to basic game mechanics.
From what it seems you shouldn't be playing super-close as a lightweight unless you intend to blade. Knowing how these mechanics work, if snap targeting is still as forgiving as it seems, you'll still have the advantage of being able to evade everything with low velocity shots for the most part, but as it stands now, you're probably not going to be able to sit on a tank's back and shoot them from behind like you used to. The only use-case I see for lightweight gunners is if they're sneaking in large missiles for unavoidable nuclear damage.
Kind of a shame really, I enjoyed LW machinegun and shotgun builds in previous games.
They took away every tank and quad weakness in this game so hey are way better now compared to 2-legs who got nothing new.

Tanks still can't dodge anything, so you just throw the biggest thing at them and they get hit by it. They also especially cannot dodge melee, where literally every PvP shown so far has shown us tanks getting mulched by bladers. Quads are the only ones that seem to actively have no serious weakpoints now, but that's still mostly coming from an outsider's perspective. They might still have trouble with vertical climb and drain on generators, but it'll take actual gameplay to note that. The only ones hurt the most are LBP and LRJ builds that won't be able to properly evade like they used to.

My opinion on AC6 will rest entirely on whether or not I could potentially get behind a dual MG-Tank as a lightweight and stay close behind him, kiting his view in PvP until he dies.

It honestly looks too fast to me. The maps are really small and it looks totally chaotic, especially since multiplayer has respawns now.
The bad thing about respawns is unironically muh immersion. Repair bonfires before bosses are fine and make sense but I like the feeling of actually being on a high stakes mission like in the old games but the option to just restart the entire mission is right there so just don't use checkpoints. The clincher is if they have no respawn pvp modes.

I like this webm. I like that tension around the 32 second mark where the player loses them and starts scanning the environment trying to pick them up. You can see a similar moment at the end of
where the player loses track of his opponent and tries to peak around the corner first instead of exposing himself with scan mode.

The game has shown nothing whatsoever that is reflective of player skill. I would love for someone to prove me wrong and go 'ah ha this is the thing you do to differentiate yourself from others in combat' but it just seems to not exist. Most of the game seems to be decided in the build menu and the actual moment to moment gameplay is so braindead the game would probably have been better as just a Formula Front sequel where your job is to setup an AI to play for you.

The very first AC has a lock-on. Why is it a problem now? When did a basic action game function that has existed since the dawn of 3D games a bad thing?
All of the previous AC games tie aiming to your camera facing, so turning speed and other factors heavily influence your ability to aim at enemies or stay out of their LoS.
AC6 has abandoned this visually since ACs can spin in place like DS2 enemies. We still haven't seen just how aggressively lock-on pulls your camera towards the target, but being able to quick-turn is still going to be valuable for cross-ups and other situations. There's no mechanic that allows you to just snap your camera 180 degrees behind you, although melee weapons have pretty obscene tracking where you can do exactly that in the middle of a combo, something which I hope is a bug and not intended.

quick-turn is a skill you can pick up that does exactly that lol
You could already quick-turn in AC4 and 5, though. That's still an actual maneuver, rather than people screeching that the sky is falling as if hard-lock will twist your camera to follow enemies as they overboost directly overhead.
the quick-turn in gen 4 and 5 was still directly affected by the turning speed stats on the legs. a lightweight biped could do a whole 360 in contrast to a quad leg achieving only 90 degrees at best. same deal with ACV's drift turn actually. I'm wondering if the AC6 quickturn will be affected by the legs too

ehhhh, not really an issue, probably makes matches more fun since everyone gets to play for the entire duration of a match and it doesn't have to always devolve into stalling antics. But it could devolve into having 1 hyper fast AC from each team just boosting around the arena, while meds and heavy's fight it out.
