looks like a ps3 game to be honest tbh
why do people say this
froms stuff consistently looks better than their contemporaries
"But DLSS, Ray Tracing, Temporal blah blah blah" shit looks terrible
because it does look like shit
sekiro came out years ago and it looks much better
elden ring also looks much better
>froms stuff consistently looks better than their contemporaries
graphically or artistically?
because graphically they have always ALWAYS been behind, and artistically always been ahead.
i just watched the gameplay. it does indeed look like a 360 era game except with higher resolution and polycounts. i think it would really benefit if they could implement proper volumetric smoke that doesnt clip
Ps3 killzone at 1440p looks like a PS5 game
the game looks better at low resolutions and low fov tbh
Suprisingly low specs
That's why
You need to go back and look what the actual PS3 Armored Cores looked like because this game absolutely blows them out of the water.
he didnt say ps3 armored core you bad faith moron
he said ps3 GAME
which it does.
Which game?
>looks like a ps3 game
so it looks fine?
Linucucks gotta GNU/Kill thrmselves
>required gpu: gtx 1650
>recommended gpu: gtx 1060
What?
1060 is faster has 2 more gb vram
but the model number is bigger
not sure if baiting or actually moronic
When it comes to PC parts, numbers don't matter, and hardware specs don't matter either.
The only one single thing that matters is real world benchmark performance.
this is fricking dumb, do pckeks really
the 1650 is a lower tier newer card.
there was a 1050 that would be worse than the 1650
the 1060 is better
This is why PC gaming is dead. I just buy a PS3 then a PS4 then a PS5. The number goes up and the performance goes up as well. It just makes sense.
>This is why PC gaming is dead.

for Nvidia:
*50 means low end
*60 means basic
*70 means basic+
*80 means premium
*90 means top end
Back in the day a *60 from the new generation was about as good as an *80 from the previous generation, but that's completely gone away
>Back in the day a *60 from the new generation was about as good as an *80 from the previous generation
Never was the case. I don't know why people like to make up these kind of lies as if benchmarks of every card generation aren't permanently accessible online.
yes and the 4060 is better than the 3090 ti 🙂
My old 8800GT is faster than a 4090.
everyone making fun of you, but you're correct
the newer 1650 should perform better than the old 1060 but israelitevidia has been scamming people for years with their gpus now
like 4060TI "3070 performance" for the exact same price/more than that
The 4060TI isn't even 3070 performance. It gets on average like 6-7 more FPS than a 3060ti, and in some games it doesn't even perform better.
>the newer 1650 should perform better than the old 1060
one was manufactured 2016, but has 6gb of vram
the other one was manufactured in 2019 but has 4gb of vram
you expect that something with less vram was going to be able to run better, even more in a time where new games demand more and more vram for textures that before?
Guess I should toss my 3090 and dig out my based 7900 GTX from the storage unit, time to game at 16K
Limmy pls
100% correct. You need a fricking PhD to understand the differences between all these models. Bigger numbers should always mean more powerful, no matter what. Thats why windows 11 is better than windows 10/8/7 etc
*windows 2000s in your path*
a 1060 6gb is more powerful than a 1650 4gb, what's the problem here?
Game doesnt scale at all so all you need is basically more VRAM for higher res textures. Basically game will look exactly the same on lowest and highest settings apart from textures that will require more VRAM. CPU difference is for pushing higher framerate but yeah it seems like this is insanely pure console port that wont scale on PC whatsoever.
moron
gtx 1650 = 4gb vram, comparable to 1050
gtx 1060 = 6gb vram, comparable to 1660
1060 is better than 1650, whats there to understand lol

It was a good run. 7 years of gaming for 300 bucks.
Looks like a really well optimized game
They certainly put all their optimization budget into this game. Funny how they barely care with Elden Ring in comparison.
>almost 2 years in
still no DLSS to offset the horseshit perfomance and meme tracing
What the frick are they doing
This reminds me how Sekiro runs really well while DS3 was an unoptimized trash.
I think it's less optimization budget, and more "you're in a giant robot fighting through stages we pre-design" so it's not trying to comprehend the entirety of the logic of an open world and shit. They can afford to be lazy on environmental texturing and spend less of the budget on the shit around you to focus on what needs to be focused on.
It's gotta run on the fricking Xbone, it's targeting 10 year old hardware.
It's a very visually simplistic game.
Optimization has nothing to do with it.
And Unity will still look better
No one cares, it'll flop like all other armored shit. Mechs are the most trash genre of anything they're in. Only exception is metal gear because you're a man destroying them.

Nah, FS don't use those western trash crutches
>FSR 1
Just how much effort is it to implement FSR 2.0? 1.0 looks fricking awful
FSR1 can be slapped onto anything with zero work because it's just a filter on a single frame. FS2 requires you to at least do the work of implementing TAA.
BG3 only has FSR1 and it triggers me.

You can buy a 7700k and just stick it in your system. So... Yes?
This. But get a 6700k instead if its cheaper, 7700k is only a freq increase, they have the same number of coars.
Its incredible the boost you get, do it fgt.
t. Had a 6600k and got stuttering up the ass in re2 remake
he would have to delid it first, lmao
Can confirm. 7700K gets very hot. It's fine if you have a high-end cooler or it's watercooled, though. I delidded mine and slapped some liquid metal on there before putting a Watercool waterblock on it. Nowadays I run
.
The 6-9 Intel chips were practically the same.
Buy a new CPU so you can emulate AC4 and 4A.
You don't want to be a secondary now do you?
Raytracing only applying in the garage annoys me. So their engine can do raytracing, but they're not going to give the option of replacing the god awful screen-space reflections on water with raytracing? That alone would make the game look fifty times better.
If its that easy then mods someday will enable it?
you read it that way. i thought that just meant you can only turn it on and off in the options when you're outside a mission in the garage.
theyre not going to have RT only enabled in the grarage what would be the point in that lmao
It literally says
>Raytracing settings are Applies [sic] only in the "garage". [sic]
There's no other way to read it.
yes the << are applied only in the garage outside of missions. i dont know how you read that as no ray-tracing outside of garage. you simply cant change the settings mid mission
>One odd but slightly neat touch: the ability to add ray-tracing, but only for when you're designing your mech in the garage between missions. Good for admiring the many metallic texture options for your paint job, I suppose.

frick
>Ganker cares about gay tracing now
Only poorgays get mad at high end options.
Get fricked consoomer. You bought your gay tracing hardware for nothing
Stay mad poorgay.
I find it a good thing they kept it in the garage. What gameplay mechanics does raytracing offer or inspire? Nothing. It's all about looks, and the garage is the perfect place.
It'd fix the incredibly shitty-looking and distracting screen-space reflections for one thing.
As an example, since nearly every single ground surface we've seen in gameplay footage is reflective, you'd actually be able to see the reflection of stuff flying in from above, which you can't do when it's screen space.
It also wouldn't look like total ass.
>dx12
So its performance is abysmal
Depends on if they compile the shaders for it, unlike Elden Ring.
Bet they're gonna completely frick it up again.
Most likely! But don't worry, your second playthrough won't have stutters! Until they frick it up with an update again :^)
I have my doubts, but whatever, they could surprise me, I'll wait to see the fallout after its release
You think those japs would have learned from the backlash by now. Well, I hope so. Did they even acknowledge the problems with Elden Ring?
they kind of did but the main issue cannot be fixed without completely re-doing the entire game so.. it will never go completely away
Why would they? Didn't stop people from buying it in droves on PC and leaving positive reviews. They probably aren't even aware of the issue.
ER got precompiled shaders in a patch, only 1.0 had issues.
It still had issues a whole year after launch, when did they supposedly add this?
I would like to know as well
Why are you lying? They never added shader precompilation.
They did, but only on Linux
They (being Fromsoft) didn't even make a Linux version. There was a different, not shader compilation related stutter problem in the game that Valve and the open source community fixed through a hack in Proton. But there is always shader compilation stutter. People keep getting these things confused.
Not him, but there are two different issues? The frick?
It's a fricking From soft game there's a million issues.
Yes there were multiple different issues causing different stutters. There was some kind of asset loading/traversal stutter which was caused by some bug which was hacked around in Proton, and so could be fixed on Linux. Separately there's also shader compilation stutter.
The traversal stutter is consistent so it happened every time. Shader compilation only happens the first time the shader needs to be compiled and then it'll go away until the game is updated or you swap out GPUs or update your display driver.
If you go by previous experience, the best time to play From Software games is not after release, but at least three weeks into it after they fix everything. Sounds pretty bad.
Well, actually it doesn't really matter because they almost never fix issues anyway. In some cases that's right though. Dark Souls 1 unpatched (so on consoles) was in extremely rough shape. Particularly with input lag and lock-on issues.
elden ring is still a stuttering mess on millions of PCs to this day LOL 3 weeks
Doesn't seem to be a problem for over 500,000+ people that reviewed this game positively on Steam.
It is, they just don't know what they're looking at.
See
They did in spite of the tech issues. Most people, just don't give a shit about how smooth and responsive a game is. They're morons and should be asking better from devs.
Apparently AC6 is fine when it comes to this so that's cool.
No it isn't. That was fixed in 3 days.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/r3hTwsvJV_A
Fricking liar Black person
Why do you lie.
I have been playing that shit since release and they never fixed the issue.
Probably they don't know how, the hacks.
Seriously, why the frick are people lying about this?
PCisraelites have always had to lie like this to stay "superior to consoles"
the reality is the shader comp stutter is there
the traversal stutter is there
the pvp latency is much worse compared to PS5
the playerbase is much larger on PS5, even more so since the seamless co-op mod exists
cheating on PC is rampant, (they lie about this too, "lol I've played 500 hours and only seen like 2 cheaters"). a lot of the cheating is more subtle, like stats that are higher than they may seem, it isn't always just some dude flying around the map or having no hotbox
ChadStation will always be the definitive place for FromSoft games, it's just the reality that PCisraelites can't cope with
oh god i haven't noticed that well its over
Lmao, Linux chads we win again.
It's gonna be a stutterfest on windows on the first day. If they can even get it to run.
Anyone who thinks it’s DX12 that is the problem is simply ignorant
Isn't it mostly developers using DX12's shader factors to get completely and utterly lazy and force consumers to have to compile every single individual shader themselves? Yeah it's not the problem and it never should be, but it's associated with the problem so people will think it's the problem.
>60gb or more
Is it their largest game yet? I don't remember any of them being +20.
elden ring is 130 gigs
No it's not.
Usually that is accounting for the space it takes to duplicate the game files in the download and then deduplicate.

Holy shit, talk about aging well.
I see its the same as Elden Ring in that it comes out on steam at 11pm in UK/Ireland. Or midnight in mainland EU.
Why are fromsoft ports are always optimized as shit and they still look like garbage?
They're not even optimized on console so I don't know what you're expecting. People didn't dread Blighttown because it was difficult.
Are you new? From games have traditionally been optimized like shit. They skate by now because their tech hasn't evolved in 10 years but hardware has. Even then ER was a technical mess.
ER was somehow their worst one at least on PC. I've heard the console versions weren't very good either.

THANK FRICK FOR STEAM SHADER CACHING ON LINUX
THAT ALONE MAKES IT WORTH USING OVER FRICKING MICROSHAFT
Doesn't that only work if it's for known hardware (i.e. Steam Deck and nothing else)?
Nope, it's across all linux varieties with steam in it, not just the deck. Gaben is slowly but surely weaning Valve from Microsoft's grip.
inb4 xboxheug cache
>to download pre-compiled GPU shaders matching your system configuration
That means that someone else would have to the same hardware as you and play through it first with this option enabled (so on Linux). So this is really going to help only a limited number of people playing after launch unless you are on a common platform like Steam Deck.
>same hardware
Well actually I'm not totally sure what actually matters for the GPU shader cache. I know that it's specific to GPU, GPU driver, and the version of the game. I don't know if any other component makes a difference as far as shader caching.
>That means that someone else would have to the same hardware as you and play through it first with this option enabled (so on Linux).
Nope. Shader compilation happens regardless of operating system. The difference lies in when they do it and how they implement it, otherwise you wouldn't have complaints of all the stuttering and micro stuttering going on while playing games on windows. Any shaders compiled while Steam is open on windows can carry over to linux.
And Steam Deck has surpassed Macbook numbers, so more than a million+ units is still a large number.
That's not possible because the shader cache is specific to the GPU driver which is going to be different between Windows and Linux.
We shall see when day one releases. Interested in documenting what happens?
Knock yourself out.
I don't see why it'd be obvious, it's entirely for technical reasons. Shader pre-caching through Steam is on Windows but only works for OpenGL/Vulkan games and not DX12. The reason why this works more generally for Linux is because everything is running through Vulkan and compatibility layers are the shim for DX12 games.
>GTX 2070

i would be fine if i had any interest in this game
>ray tracing
nice, is it going to be full path traced like cuberpunk of some kind of pseudo barebones version of ray tracing? i hope its path traced
there are like only 2 games with genuinely good made raytracing and CP isn't one of them.
ok what games? because the path tracing in CP is genuinely good already. You did actually play in overdrive mode and not just psycho ray tracing right? it makes a huge difference
You mean the mode that has the 4090 render the game 16 fps?
Where does a Ryzen 7 3700x rank compared to those listed in the requirements?
motherfricker I made it I just need to boot to my windows 10 partition if it doesn't run on 7

I'm not worried about the performance because its done by the sekiro team. Also I've played the previous games before and the FPS was horrific but I still put up with it.
Do i need to play the previous games to enjoy this one? I havent seen people talk about the lore in previius threads tbf
Nah.
no each game is more or less standalone type of game in terms of lore.
No, storywise there is no connection and gameplaywise not even the previous games play the same as each other
They're not gonna compile shaders at startup and we're gonna be getting a stuttering mess on PC won't we
Guaranteed.
Yes.
Why Steam doesn't do it for Windows should be obvious to all.
another broken piece of shit game, and the previews didn't mention anything all these youtubers/journalists deserve to be shot
Also Raytracing will provide almost no visual difference while costing 30FPS+
Just like it did in Elden Ring.
And why the frick is it only in the garage???
Raytracing is only in the garage so it's even more worthless.
Which is a shame because
That's any game except Cyberpunk.
elden ring didn't even have raytracing, it has path traced ambient occlusion, which is fricking useless.
ER has async shader compilations, that's why it doesn't stutter exept on low RAM (8GB) systems where the compilation isn't running well.
This was further improved with patches that why these stutters are non existant even on fresh reinstalls.
Maybe they actually learned from ER before throwing this at us. Not gonna hold my hopes though.
Why are you lying? Reinstalling the game doesn't even clear the shader cache.
No, I mean reinstalling the OS/steam/everything like I did when I upgraded to a Ryzen 5600 + 6700XT.
Had zero stutters on my first run of ER on the new system.
You're either lying or you don't notice them (in which case good for you).
For example, here is some idiot from two days ago who just installed a new driver and was complaining about stutters.
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1245620/discussions/0/5330625727568119368/
The morons in the thread suggest some unrelated garbage and then the moron OP thinks the stutters are fixed. Because it had to do with shader compilation so of course he doesn't see the stuttering anymore.
Elden Ring was never patched with any kind of shader pre-compilation, so it's always going to have shader compilation stutters, regardless of whatever hardware you're running. I'm very tempted to reinstall the game and capture the footage just to win this pointless internet argument but I don't have the time right now.
kek
I don't take anything from steam forums seriously, the same morons have bought into the whole, "windows 7? noooo you must updoot!"
Pretending that the problem doesn't exist is why it won't ever get fixed.
You have no idea what your talking about. The shader compilation was never solved. Your shaders are cached in app data. Uninstalling the game doesn't clear them.
You fricking moron.
RAM is probably going to frick me
Will it run on a fricking PS4 or not?
consoles aren't the problem, they will run fine
the problem is japanese console devs can't into PC development
Cool what about on a PS4. Constant 30fps with a bit worse graphics, can i expect that?
Consoles will be fine. PS4 might even be 60 considering the game seems more optimized than ER and that was also on PS4
>PS4 might even be 60

Sekiro on PC was great though.
Great, now I need 128 to 256GB of RAM to stay above you peasants.
it's funny how years ago everyone would be complaining about how console peasants are holding the PC Master Race back with the low system requirements
while today everyone is praising them for having low hardware requirements
what happened to PC gaming?
when did it become a scam?
when did everyone notice it was a scam?
If you haven't noticed yet a lot of consolegays migrated to PC hence the dumbing down of everything.
Nvidia price inflation
third world tier optimization
incompetent generation
Because a new console generation happened and all of the PC poorgays are now complaining that their systems from like a decade ago aren't powerful enough for new games.
>Pricing and frequency
Current GPUs are in israeliteelry prices
If you need to upgrade for a game, that game is not worth it
And with developers being incompetent or malicious, they no longer make their games efficient with the resources demanding more and more specs
Its not sustainable
>Its not sustainable
Same argument I've been hearing applied in other things, but they just keep going regardless. You think things are bad, you haven't seen shit yet. I'm waiting for something equivalent to renting your pizza since we already got payments through installments being shoved across the board even with fricking pizza. Hell there was that one car company that asked you to rent your heater in your fricking car with a subscription.
Yea but they're selling cars and pizzas. You can drive a car . You can eat a pizza. But you can't play a game without X spec PC.
Well i'm sure they lost some sales per card by actual players
The marked was inflated thanks to scalpers but since shitcoin fell Nvidia/AMD will feel the actual backlash
1st world countries have more capability to buy shit at exorbitant prices but even then with everything raising in price, it simply can't keep up forever
For how long?
That is the interesting question
people realised what optimisation was

I've never seen anyone post pictures of the dark dungeons with the elden ring raytracing, has anyone? That is the only place I'd imagine the torch and lanterns would make a difference. Does anyone have any webms?
It doesn't because it's only raytraced shadows and dynamic light sources in Elden Ring don't cast shadows. So it does literally nothing unless you're in the sun.

iirc at least Arxan doesn't have online checks as a DRM.
But then why no one can crack rdr2?
I think it's the Rockstar Games Launcher DRM that's getting in the way the most, though it's been a while since I looked into it and I don't quite remember so don't quote me on that. Arxan probably doesn't help regardless.

I HATE SCREEN SPACE REFLECTIONS
It's so fricking distracting. Whoever came up with this needs to kill themselves for ruining an entire generation of modern game graphics.
>cubemaps in 2023

Best graphical effect since normal maps.
Cope, seethe, dilate.
This is a perfect example of why we need raytracing.
🙁
If this engine is the same as the Souls games and ER, then people can do a lot of crazy shit. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone pull RT out of the garage to the rest of the game.
Actual good use of ray-tracing.
>AMD GPUs under raytracing
Congratulations poorgays, you finally get RT implemented.
Will this run on a somewhat weaker card like the 1050ti? My friend was super excited for this game and I'd hate for him not to be able to play.
>i7-6700, with an H170-PRO motherboard I'd have to swap out for more substantial upgrades

this is gonna hurt
Good. 120 fps here I come.
are there more things I can buy for this game?
I already upgraded my PC with 2800$ but I want to spend more money since I haven't spent a single cent on any other modern game because they're all pozzed garbage.
can I use hotas or flight sticks with this game?
Damn. So you cant read and Shakespeare. Or dune. Or almost anything then. Your life sucks being so restricted.
The original book of Dune didn't have diversity shoved into it, Mr. Projector. A bunch of blue-eyed piss sipping towelheads versus what amounts to degenerate cosmic oil oligarch in space, gee, so diverse! Oh wait, don't look at the class struggle, please ignore the revolution.
You probably could use a flight stick if you tried really hard, but you're better off just grabbing your favorite controller and using that. Maybe Mouse and Keyboard will be good for this game too since unlike past games turn speed won't really be a huge thing.
Two flight sticks, but change the keybinds and stick functions. Make yourself feel like you're inside a mech.
Probably could work fine. Of course, its not going to be perfect because its entirely third person.
>still rocking my old 1660 I bought on a budget almost 5 years ago

>bought a Ryzen 5 3600 years ago
>still in the “recommended” section of BG3, Starfield and now AC
feels good man
ryzen5600 bros, we're good.
also 3060rtx 12g so also good
still, why whould I even play this shit (goes back to playing age of empires 2 & arcane dimensions/vkquake)
>gays with a couple hundred dollar GPUs can run at 60 fps
It's not fricking fair. After all the hard work the west has put in recently to owning non4090s. I WILL NOT be buying this poorgay game.
Are you a genuine gpu manufacturer shill?
Why yes I'm here sitting at my office in Taiwan shitposting, gweilo.
Okay, thanks for being honest. Still not buying a 4090.
You will buy my GPUs or else the price inflation continues.
You're making mad moola on data center contracts, gaming is a side hustle at this point. Stop being an butthole Huang.
4090 for gaming is dumb af. If you are not into media production/ai/some other numbercrunching bullshit there is no need for 4090.
>i5-4590
Im gonna make it, right broskis?
Do you think I can run this on a FX-6300 with 16GB ram and a RX480 with 8GB VRAM?
How does the FX6300 compare with a 4790k? You should upgrade to Ryzen already that bulldozer cpu is holding you back.
My mobo is a dogshit cheapo m5a78l-m lx3, I can't upgrade to Ryzen or even FX-8350 without getting a new mobo.
So it's time a complete rebuild. Went from 4790k to 5950x and happy where I am.
Yeah, I'll have to buy a new PC alltogether, but I was wondering if I can still run this on a FX-6300 since I can actually run Elden Ring at 30+ fps in 1080p.
>30+ fps in 1080p
Should be fine for that, but you're really doing things on a shoestring budget here. No one should be playing modern games on old hardware, even the 2500k is dead in the water.
NTA, but just do it. It will be a pain in the ass at first, but worth it in the long run.
>raytracing only in the garage
I didn't think it was possible to have a more nothingburger implementation of RT than what they did for Elden Ring but holy frick they outdid themselves here
>ryzen 5 2600 minimum
>ryzen 5 3600 recommended
It won't be that much of a difference, right?
The 4790k is the bare minimum, I think you'll be fine.
Probably not, but probably yes. The 3600 is a significantly better CPU.
elden ring ran well below minimum specs (although an update made it run a lot worse, but maybe a subsequent update fixed that), so maybe this will too, not like it'll be a big open world game anyway.
If you have a PC weaker than the minimum, why not just play on consoles? It's a cross-gen game anyway.
why would you spend hundreds on a console rather than just upgrading your PC
if you haven't found a way to upgrade your PC past these specs in currentyear, they clearly do not give a frick anyway and a nogames machine is their fate anyway
>elden ring ran well below minimum specs
until you got the open-world, then it become a stuttery mess
nah, on launch at least it ran fine
after some updates it did run a lot worse, but as i said maybe they fixed it idk
My previous GPU was barely worse than the minimum spec and the game ran barely below 60fps at low settings, so I'd say the minimums are pretty accurate.
Looks like I still don't need to upgrade.
>6650 XT as recommend with gay tracing
wow, that's fricking nothing
My PC isn't going to run it F
I'm way over, should be good.
>Raytracing in garage only
What's the point?
Like why even bother?
holy frick. this is the first game i can't run on my pc. i built it back in 2019, it has served me extremely well but if it can't play the new games idk what I'm gonna do
>first game i can't run on my pc. i built it back in 2019
>2019
What fricking ancient computer did you put together? Did you get memed on a 2500k or 2600k still being good?
Literally how
What kind of absolute fricking toaster are you running?
I have 8 gb ram, my only problem here
8GB of RAM was outdated the moment you could max out your mobo with 32GB of RAM, and that was around 2015.
give it to me straight bros, will I be able to run this?
no
>Windows 11 Home
>Home
>not Pro, not Enterprise, not Education
You have bigger problems in front of you.
Maybe at 720p 25 FPS low settings, sorry bro.
You will, but you're still a homosexual. Sorry.
Bros....my i5-6600K? What do?
Be happy you didn't buy the housefires that came after it. Fricking Intel skimping on the TIM again.
I built my PC to run Dark Souls 3 in 2016. After upgrading the power supply and the GPU from a 1060 to a 3070 TI, I was able to play Elden Ring smoothly.
I also have an i5-6600k. We'll see how it goes. I've never played an Armored Core before
>mfw 2070S + i7 10700k
Still the king. Still the recommended spec for new multiplat titles.
In terms of upgrades in the future, is an AMD CPU even some sense of substantially different, weird or unaccommodating, or can you literally just get the right CPU for the right motherboard socket and it doesn't fricking matter for Team Red or Blue? It's already a nightmare as is figuring out specs vs specs with all these nonsense naming schemes
>or can you literally just get the right CPU for the right motherboard socket and it doesn't fricking matter for Team Red or Blue?
Just this. AMD CPUs are fantastic now and absolutely worth using, just make sure you have the right motherboard.
The only difference between AMD and Intel CPUs is price.
pcpartpicker still exists, you can model your desired build on that
both AMD and Intel have problems, but I'm more inclined to AMD now after using Intel since the Pentium 2 due to the nature of their CPU arch. I really fricking hate the idea of p/e cores.
AMD promise their cpu socket to work for at least 3 cpu gens. Unlike Intel's only working for 2 gens. Also Intel releases a new cpu gen every 1 to 1 and half years while AMD release a new CPU gen every 2 years. So that's about 2 years of socket compatibility for Intel and around 6 years for AMD
14th Gen will just be a fricking 13th gen refresh. Intel is finished.
How about their graphic cards? Thinkig of getting a rx 6700 xt...
Good enough for 1440p/60fps, but don't expect anything more than that.
Good to me.
What about pairing it with a 5600x or 5950x?
What are you trying to do?
Make a new pc that will have me play most games okísh on mid graphics and no stutters for the coming 6-8 years. I don't really play a lot of graphic heavy stuff but who knows I might if a game releaes that I like.
Yeah a 5950x + 6700XT will last you the entire current gen if not longer.
AMD's multi-mcm cpus sometimes have issues with games. You'd probably do better going 5800X3D
>5950x
Works fine.
Pic related, win7 partition.
How are the tempertures? This seems to be a big problem now a days. Hence why I decided not o buy the 5800x which has a problem with running hot (90C) according to some. Even idyling high and stuff like that which is my worry.
Idle temps can be fixed but requires some messing around with at least windows power plans if you don't want to touch the mobo bios settings. I have my 5800x on a hyper 212 and idle temps are 35-40 C and gaming is 65-75 C. Full power cpu benchmark only hits 83 C because I don't let it boost to temp max.
>I have my 5800x on a hyper 212
And I have my 5900x on a chonky Noctua DH15. Big radiator > smol radiator.
And a 5900x uses more W than a 5800x
Not really a big difference in power consumption, there's a bigger gap between 5900x and a 7900x for example just from looking at TDP of 105 vs 170 respectively.
In winter I hit 25C idle. Summer is a pain in the ass, 35C on idle. Highest I've seen the CPU hit is 70C while gaming and that was due to fricking Unity engine being bloated as frick. As for the GPU, fans don't kick in until 60C. There are lots of games where the fans don't even turn on and the temp remains below that, but that's only because I the case fans I have maintain enough air flow.
x3D versions run hotter though. I haven't run into any modern games that cause problems yet.
Must just be a Zen 4 issue, then. Carry on then.
It seems to me that buying Zen 4 is like buying Zen 1 all over again, it had plenty of problems that took at least 2 gens to fix.
The problems come in two flavors: multi-mcm being useless for gaming, but king for workstation/content creation, and ANUS not knowing how to do BIOS/UEFI properly.
Temp-wise it does much better. But yes. They're trying new tech this time. Same as with RNDA3. Gonna take a few gens to work the kinks out.
well, they're objectively the best bang for buck these days, especially 6700 XT and 6800 XT
the catch is, you're not getting DLSS which is currently the best upscaler and you're stuck with AMD FSR which is good enough but not as great, and nvidia often adopts some cool technologies that you might miss out on, like RTX Remix or some future stuff
wait isn't "recommended specs" just medium to high settings in game?
games should add a third "maximum specs"
Max Spec is a hugely wide range anon. Are we talking 120 FPS? 244 FPS? We talking 8K? 8K with RT? Also it's a bad look because it makes the game seem out of reach. People don't like being told they can't max every dial out.
not really because it all evens out at the top so to speak
>4k 60FPS
>1440p 144hz
>1080p 165+ Hz
>every setting maxxed out
Yes but then you get a huge chart like Cyberpunk did. I think it's fine saying "here's who's allowed to play" and "here's how to make it look like the trailers and console versions"
>Intell i5-6600
It never even began, did it?
Should I just get a second game for my PS5 bros?
>using speccy
>those monitors
>that GPU
>that abysmal SSD size
Did I suddenly time travel back to 2016
Judging by these specs they're going to release it on PS4 and maybe even PS3.
This game is going to be capped at 60fps again isn't it?
Yes (no)
For some reason the Japanese love to tie the game logic, physics and what not to FPS. Of course it's going to be locked.
do you realize how immensely fricked it would be to tie physics to the framerate in a physics-intensive game like Armored Core?
>physics-intensive game
Anon, AC isn't running calculations, it's just stats. You aren't gonna fail to do something because your rotational torque surpassed the power of your motors anon. You're gonna fail to do something because your stat was 20 and not 50.
Sorry, I've just been playing gen 5 lately. The exaggerated inertia of this game makes every movement feel like a Herculean task compared to previous generations, and I don't feel like it's wrong to assume that they'll bring some of that back in AC6
>a physics-intensive game like Armored Core
?
he thinks that an engine having "50" in power means the game then funnels that data into a complex mutlifactoral engine that simulates those 50 power units as however many fake joules or whatever. He thinks every game is Besieged basically.
>Besieged mech game
I didn't even know I wanted this.
It does sound rather based. Maybe make it in a big city and you can have simple kaiju for it to fight?
Man, I really want a physics-based mech game, but AC is not it.
>physics-intensive
>physics-intensive
Its not Garry's Mod bro. This shit has to run on a base Xbone from 2013. From isn't looking to start housefires.
>This game is going to be capped at 60fps again isn't it?
They confirmed 120 fps mode already.
It has settings for 30, 60, and 120 FPS caps.
I just bought a 4070 and this is what I get? A fricking 1060 from 5 years ago?
Those specs are for 1080p 60. You can probably get 4k 120 with that.
>tfw still 970
IT'S FRICKING JOEVER
LMAO so the Steam Deck will have no issue with running it, based From
6 years later and still keeps winning. Well spent 1500€ at a sale.
>3060ti
I'm sure it will be fine
>i9 13900KS

Dreams do come true sometimes
>7700x
>7900xt
>32GB of ram
>recommended is a 6650xt
>PS4-based
4k120 here I come.
>DirectX 12
It's going to run like shit, DX12 actually relies on the devs not being lazy morons and knowing how to optimise for PC.
I got a i7 3770k (80€) oc 4.2 ghz and a rx 480 8gb vram (120€) just for ac6, had a i5 2500k and a gtx 760 or something before. I'll just hope it's enough
and also somebody told me to get ghost spectre win 11 for that directX12 funcionallity, it's great can totally recomend
Going from a 2500k to a 3770k is not much of an upgrade.
dunno 4 vs 8 threads. playing planetside 2 with this new setup with the same settings gave me a huge improvement. Or gothic 3 on higgest settings almost no stuttering now.
Those are pretty dated games to use to test it. How about something like BG3 or a 2022 title?
my man, i dont care about modern gameslop, I play old games like tf2, ps2, dwarf fortress. The most recent games where botw and kirby fl on cemu or ryujinx. Only elden ring had me slightly interested, but didn't get it. Now armored core FINALLY coming to pc and it looks cool as ever.
So you played Elden Ring? You can expect the same performance then, this game probably runs on the same engine.
you motherfrickers are somehow mad that a game in 2023 does not require a fricking 4070
>i5 3350p
>1060 6GB
Thank frick I'm about to build a new rig with a 7700 and a 4080 but I'll have to spend at least a week suffering with this shitheap I built in 2012 and upgraded once in 2017
dx12 again. looks like i'll be running it on wine again
It's gotten bad enough that I play more on linux these days.
installed linux for elden ring. game was disappointing but linux was alright
>Black folk in this thread buying decade old cpus instead of getting a new MOBO
poorgays are so weird
1080ti chads, we literally can't stop winning
1080ti aged like fine wine. I bet it has another 5 years to go.
That gpu is made of black magic and voodoo. At launch BG3 made my PC roar like a constipated tiger, then just one fricking driver update later i get 100+ fps while my machine purrs like a kitty cat, best fricking purchase that i have made in my entire life.
It's basically still in between a 3060 Ti and a 3070. Still can get over 60 FPS in modern shit at 1440p and can even do 4k with some stuff turned down. Honestly I'd argue it's the best card ever made in terms of long term value.
>dx12
lol, lmao, kill israelites
You can use dxvk to run it as vulkan.
Im not learning linux just for fromsoft games, time to pirate a ps5
>dxvk
>linux
are you moronic, you literally just put a dll in the game folder and it hijacks the renderer
The github says you need wine and 3 other things no one on windows has ever heard about, but if thats the case ill give it a try, i got 2 hours to make it work on release day before the refund
That's for compiling. Use releases on the right side
Does this ever cause any unintended glitches, or it "just werks™?"
It might, but dxvk is actively updated so you can report issues and it could be addressed in an update.
how? dxvk only has files for dx 9/10/11, also will this fix shader compilation stutter on windows?
You can't, if it actually worked like that everyone would be doing it already.
so
is a homosexual, got it
I don't know why people fricking lie about this kind of thing constantly instead of acknowledging the problems.
Sorry. It's vkd3d for dx12 to vulkan wrapping.
Yeah, that's the one
Does this introduce any potential issues when used?
Yeah i tried it earlier on elden ring and the game didnt launch lol. Frick gaming on windows
Being worse than dx12 running natively at the minimum. Anything else depends on the game and how it works.
Hard requirement seems to be support for vulkan 1.3.
That doesn't work for DX12 only DX11.
pc footage?
why are the specs so low?
12gb ram?
still saying hard disk?
sound card?
its so fricking over.
It's literally the japanese specs engrish translated.
damn localizers shitting all over over PC spec scripts
so? numbers are numbers moron.
brand names are brand names
literally fricking have a nice day you gay shill
I don't understand why you're chimping out over this. One game doesn't require a 4070 Ti and an i12 69696kf to run at 4k 60 and you're shitting your pants.
>4070 Ti and an i12 69696kf to run at 4k 60 and you're shitting your pants.
not chimping but you are coping.
and why are you pulling these random names and numbers from nowhere?
just look at the op pic.
recommended has no details of settings or resolution or fps.
but if thats what the devs recommend thats worrying because of how low the specs are
especially since elden rings recommended specs are HIGHER than AC6. why the frick would that ever be the same unless AC6 is going to be graphically less sophisticated.
again, have a nice day you gay shill.
Have you considered the fact that ER is an open world game and AC6 is level based with much smaller maps, moron?
right so AC6 should have higher detailed environments because its not an open world
it should be the same specs as elden ring and an even better looking game
right?
oh wait... thats not true at all
it isnt open world
is graphically worse even on a small scale
and has lower recommended specs
ummm bros?
An open world doesn't render its entire map either, learn how videogames work you moronoh..wait.
Oh, no.
Because it's an Xbone game.
1060 still going strong for all the games made by the only AAA dev I still care about.
Never played AC but I’m going to give it a shot cause I like Fromsoft and big robots are cool.
>1080p 60fps
okay, now show the actual specs for 4k 140+fps
For 120 FPS probably a 3090 and whatever the highest tier intel/amd CPUs are.
Will my 12700k with a 4090 be able to run it?
My PC seems to be strong enough for recommended with ray tracing on. Have an i5 10400 and RTX 3060
>wangblows 10
Anyone moronic enough to be using windows in present day present time should all go back to consoles.
Never gonna use Linux because im not a troony-coder.
WHY CANT MORE GAMES BE THIS OPTIMIZED? WHY?
For the same reason why Kamille is a girl's name. Devs are a bunch of pussies and won't man up to get the dirty work done.
>shader problems
I haven't touched Steam on windows in a while, do you guys get a little pop-up screen showing shader compilation percentage or does it automatically go into a game?
>homies here are crying about the game requiring a whole 1060 ($150 card used)
Wow. I bet you're the frickers that cry that everything is unoptimized when it doesn't run on your t420 thinkpad.
Forgot pic, it looks something like this. Is it also on windows?
Yes but it only works with OpenGL/Vulkan games.
So games that say they require dx12 on windows shouldn't be getting this shader pop-up window on linux? Because I get that pop-up if I play something like Hi-Fi Rush about shaders and that game states it uses dx12. Is there a fallback if it detects dx12 is not supported on windows?
Bruh, if you're on Linux, you're running everything on Vulkan through Proton as a compatibility layer.
I still don't understand why Steam on windows doesn't do the same for dx12 then. It would save everybody time.
Because using an extra compatibility layer to run DX12 through Vulkan when you're already on a system that supports DX12 feels wasteful and stupid.
The real solution is that developers need to add shader pre-compilation for games and engines. And throw a brick through the windows at DICE for creating this fricking nightmare in the first place.
>I actually meet the recommended specs for ray tracing
Holy crackers
>mfw i5 6500
jfc i really should get a new CPU
an i5-10400 has always been around $140, but a 11400 or higher will give you better ram utilization
thanks anon, I'll look into it
I continue to be unreasonably satisfied with the PC that I built in 2020. I use a Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB of RAM and a 6GB RTX 2060. I don't see myself upgrading again until the end of the decade.
>6GB RTX 2060
You will upgrade your GPU within 2 years.
Why would I bother to do that? I can just drop my settings to medium or low.
1060Chads just can't stop winning it seems.
>1070ti pulls through once again
>Less than 4% of PC players play at 4k resolution
WHAT
Not that surprising. 4K is a fricking meme and better built for TV work, not for computer gaming monitors- and the amount of people with the specs and hardware to play any modern games at 4K are staggeringly low. There's functionally not much value to 4K over, say, 120hz refresh displays and higher. I settled for 1440p 240hz myself, and I still need to upgrade or replace my rig to get the most of it.
>4K is a fricking meme
t. moron who never used a 4k monitor
The image clarity is fine enough at 1440p for my feature set. I'm sure actually having 4K clarity would blow my mind, but what the frick am I gonna play on it if my computer is gonna struggle with AC6 here? I'd be better off spending that money on the PC itself rather than caring for bigger-is-better displays.
diminishing returns after 1440p 244+ fps max settings in every game.
if you can do 4k 244+fps max settings in every game then yeh sure do it.
but its not really needed at all.
going from 1080 60 to 1440 120 is a bigger jump than 1440p 120 to 4k 240
simple as.
I upgraded to 4K and then tried a 1440p, and it'ss a blurry mess, it felt like a downgrade.
I don't play nothing that requires higher framerate so 60Hz is fine.
>and it'ss a blurry mess, it felt like a downgrade.
shit monitor
skill issue honestly
>I don't play nothing that requires higher framerate so 60Hz is fine.
oh you are moronic.
sorry i should have read that first and disregarded everything else you had to say.
>>I don't play nothing that requires higher framerate so 60Hz is fine.
Correct, I don't play teenager genres.
That's every genre except simulators and CRPGs, which are for middle aged men.
Congrats, not only did you understand what I meant, but you also understood which games I play
>CRPGs
>middle aged men
No, it's fricking wankers of every age. See: Baldur's Gate 3. Too many fricking coomers are treating it like a WEG.
Same. I only play mature games for mature gamers such as ourselves.
No, I just don't play games filled to the brim with toddlers.
That's what I said, fellow mature game enjoyer.
No, there is a difference, you seek games rated M for Mature, such as yourself.
I avoid games rated T for toddlers.
We're not the same.
We are the same. We both enjoy mature video games in the mature hobby of video games, fellow mature gamer! We are grown up and mature video gamers. We are above those children gamers playing their childish video games.
>"Now if you'll excuse me I have some bing bings to wahoo!"
>244fps
Oh, you own one of those meme monitors.
I will always prefer 60hz and 4k visuals (and a TV over a monitor), than using some small ass desktop monitor with 144hz. That shit is wack.
I want to play videogames on my bed, not sitting like a south park fat ass on a desktop.
>60hz
please refer to my other comment
I prefer higher refresh rates to 4K.
But games are literally impossible to play without 4k and ray tracing. Refresh rate means nothing to the enjoyment of video games.
Stop pushing your moron meme resolution homosexual, it's been at 4% for ages now nobody else is falling for it.
Each year we have more and more steam users and yet its still at 4%? This just means its more popular than ever
mfw bought GTX1050TI instead of a 1060 because I bought a car when I can just use Uber
>AC is gonna make normal people interested in Mecha and they'll be looking at Gundam
Will they actually give a shit about Gundam unlike what Witch from Mercury did?
I haven't been keeping up with /m/, is there even any worthwhile /m/echa anime for the past 2 years aside from thunderbolt gundam?
I liked 86 even if it was a bit generic.
Honestly I'm surprised that after all those Armored Core titles of the past, Bandai Namco never used their hands on the license to proposition a Gundam game from FromSoft. Maybe From just prefers their own IPs and we're sooner to get a Cookie & Cream resurrection but it just occurs in my head as a weird thought and it won't go away.
From made the Unicorn game
Oh. Ouch, that game didn't look very good, forgot about that part.
>that game didn't look very good
Well, it is a Gundam game...
そこだ!!
Well Gunpla outsell their games
They did multiple times.
I prefer my mecha of the big stomping tanks that fire giant volleys of missiles variety, and Gundam seems like a poor match for that.
