Learn how to bunnyhop. Activate boosters, jump while moving, drop, and then just as you hit the ground activate boosters again. It really makes the movement feel a lot better and it helps you get better at the combat. Also make sure you change out parts to get better turn speed.

I think in first gen they don't give you a specific turn speed stat if I remember right, but the type of legs you use determine how fast you can turn left and right. Lighter legs will turn faster.

They're just reusing areas and maps from the campaign, this is honestly super budget efficient just like the PvPs of previous games. Big problem is respawn deathmatch is boring as frick, there's no tension in evading damage because going down is being out of the match, everyone's just encouraged to play stupidly unlike the main game.
I could see this being fun as a battle royale but unfortunately this is just PVP in lobbies. Kinda missed potential.

The UI is fine but the nip who posts these videos is moronic and includes the map in the bottom left, that's not there in game kek. Anyway the reason its so good is because once someone dies, a team is at a massive disadvantage. This requires a lot of teamplay, tactics and strategy. Most fights would start off with teams sticking close together firing off rounds at the enemy until it eventually broke and turned into a slug fest. Other times you might have someone in a lighter weight AC trying to bait the enemy into breaking formation. There was just so much involved.
Now with respawns, its basically just a bunch of mechs slapping against eachother. No strats, no teamplay, just boring. Maybe 1v1 will be better but holy frick I'm annoyed.
Downtime? Its conserving energy. Part of the complex mechanics of VD is learning how to play in and out of scan modo.
Yeah I think the 3v3 is kind of whatever until we see something more high level. It reminds me of MOBA custom modes where the game is built for 5v5 but you can customize it to be 20 v 20 or something which completely breaks how the game works and turns into people smashing heads

They ran tournaments for it even as far back as the 90s. MoA had an arena full of fanmade ACs that were used in those tournaments. Maybe not in the west, but in Japan yeah AC's multiplayer was always a huge part of it.
It was still a dedicated niche, AC sold pretty well back then and the vast majority of people never touched the gun multiplayer. It was like halo CE, a small part of the game the devs added because it’s cool and by virtue of it being fun people kept the games alive with it. It’s never been a selling point, it’s a staying point.
I only started building in the past year, the fricking kotobukiya kits are kicking my ass, man. My brain is conditioned to HGs. It's all a really good time building, I can't pose for shit though, which is why no one will ever see the actual kits on display on my shelf.
Test fit everything, the koto kits have some poor fitting parts sometimes and you might have to use glue unlike gunpla. So test fit everything, see how it works, what moves, what feels loose ect and decide if anything needs glue. Be gentle with the foot and ankle joints when posing because they can break on you if you treat it like a HG. Oh and the ball join on the waist can be very weak on some kits so if it snaps don’t panic, pin it in place with some copper rod and super glue if the worst happens. They’re very good looking kits but they just need a little bit of love.

Lock on will be shit which means good pvp will look akward as frick with manual aim because your AC will face sideways when moving then awkwardly snap to where you are facing your camera when shooting before going back to facing sideways. All the cool strafing while keeping your opponent in sight only exists with lock on

honestly, pretty cool. often times in dark souls it isn't excited getting new weapons because what you're already using is better.
Barring tuning I guess which you can always do once you unlock it I don't remember any "level" system either so you can just hotswap out anything as you feel apt
PS1-PS2 era, you needed to find the hidden parts in missions to get the best weapons (Moonlight blade, etc.)
Every weapon? Frick no. Every sensible build? Yeah, maybe. You're not gonna finish the game with handgun and solid shield.
Some parts will be worse as you get more expensive parts, but it's not just about having the biggest, bestest gun. Even AC3's intro cinematic is meant to show off that having the more expensive parts doesn't mean you're going to have an easier time
build viability in these games are often about finding the right balance for what you're trying to do at the moment, so even if you have an objectively better weapon, you may not want to use them for a specific mission or 3v3 composition, it could just be too heavy to carry along with everything else you'll actually need, so you just give up on the damage and take something weaker that will suit your kit better.
in Souls, if you don't have equip weight for a weapon you want, that's a problem to solve, be it in stats or changing armor/rings, but in Armored Core, you may just simply not use that weapon and use something else instead.
it's not the kind of game to get overly attached to a single very specific build, respeccing is part of the gameplay.
Bit of both. Some parts will just be better then others at what they do but you dont necessarily need that part in your build.
Especially with weird layered mechanics like FCS + Arm maneuverability + weapon accuracy there might be some weird weird parts that shine together even if individually they're not great.

I was honestly worried about how fast energy recharges but it looks like even a short amount of rest can kill you immediately. The energy doesn't charge up fast enough to save you - That and the fact that hard-lock can be broken (Vaati wrong AGAIN) has put to rest all of my fears. Every one.

Countering missiles any other way but boosting away in previvous AC's has notoriously been ridiculously expensive kit wise. Flares remove your shoulder option, AMS core removes your Exceed Orbit option, Active AMS or Decous take out your weapon slot.

Maybe its just because these people sit there and get hit without dodging, but the gatling guns seems to be pretty strong.
The beta boy team lost almost all their matches but both times their team used dual gatling guns they won pretty easily.
It's a hyperspecialized advantage where if you can't counter you get kwabbed. I think if they all took super long range builds they'd be able to do so

Anon you're asking why is there an emphasis on fighting other human pilots in the fighting mech game? AC is built for invasions there needs to be mode where different corporations fight over an overmap and players chose who to work for depending on what those corporations are up to and other players invade each other also player corporations.
