ARPGs will go extinct by 2024.

Diablo 2 Resurrected is being handle by a small group of incompetent developers adding imbalanced charm affixes and rune words.
Diablo 3 is a joke of an ARPG, even if it is feels satisfying to cleave 15 demons in half every 2 seconds.
Grim Dawn does nothing to innovate the genre and was the Diablo 2 II to fill the void whien Diablo 3 shit the bed, now that resurrected is out GD has no purpose in the ARPG world.
Torchlight Infinite is ruined by greedy developers who needed to make the game F2P so they can milk everyone for all their money.
Path of Exile single handedly ruined a great game by nerfing every and all viable option for end game, buffing monsters to absurdity and reducing the drop rates on every item to astronomically abysmally low rates so they can boost the trade economy. SSF in PoE is the worst SSF experience in any ARPG to exist.
Diablo 4 is shaping up to be Diablo Immortal - PC Edition with the always online instanced world building and simplified attribute system (lmao4stats)
Last Epoch has a skeleton crew working on the game despite being bought out by Tencent. The game has bee in Early Access for 4 fricking years and we're still short 3 Masteries. Multiplayer finally comes out in two months but at this point, who the frick is still playing

This genre will die.
There is no hope for the future.

We have enough ARPGs to grind for decades to come, what more do you want?

I've dumped over a hundred hours on Chronicon, so I can tell you where it has problems.
Not the simplistic graphics, because those don't really matter in an ARPG.
It's that once you get to the endgame it's a whole lot of Number Go Up while the best you can do is instantly punk increasingly statted versions of the story bosses.
They don't have the fluidity that endgame bosses in say, PoE do.
Having side content beyond exploding screens of monsters helps those other games more than I thought.
If you're looking to make interesting builds it hits limits fairly quickly but allows you to do all sorts of ridiculous combinations.
You want a hundred pets or explosions that trigger off your explosions? All available.
What I liked most about it is that it's balanced for single player, so you aren't playing a slot machine like you are with online games. It doesn't take much to reroll all your items to exactly what you want, and you can respec for free.
The grind is endless though. You could get small incremental stat increases for a thousand hours.

I liked the endgame. Got to lvl 70. Had a blast. Can't wait to see what shit show of a story they come up with.

Played the beta and it was garbage honestly. It convinced me NOT to buy it when I was initially going to get it on release.

Tried the leaked game posted here 2 weeks ago and found it lacking. D4 looks visually amazing, they nailed the aesthetic and atmosphere but the gameplay is just D3 again.

I like D3. There's just not enough to do. Only GR and Vault.

Diablo formula is flawed on fundamental level. You can't make mechanically deep game if all if your actions are controlled entirely only by mouse pointer. Whatever was possible to make out of it, was already made, "ARPG" as genre needs new gameplay formula instead of attempts to make any more diablo clones.

How come Ganker doesn't care about ARPGs anymore?

I downloaded PoE, didn't like it
    Bought Grim Dawn, refunded.
Refuse to touch the spyware that is TL:I
Bought Epoch but they'll wipe my characters in two months, so what is the point in playing.
I've been just playing D2 Classic on my PC as of late, but I'm getting depressed that I've been defaulting to the same game for 23 years

Nah. Crate said they want to make GD 2 some day. Apparently TQ 2 is in making. Last Epoch still might be good, something something Miyamoto delayed game is eventually good,.

      This, I'm still hopeful
They haven't made any major misstep yet, they've just taken ages. The only things they've done that I haven't completely liked are the armors -> resistances rework (but even that was done quite well), and making most of rogue's skills so far pretty fricking worthless to build around

What happened to Wolcen anyway? Kind of funny how it just vanished so completely that literally no one mentions it anymore. Is it worth playing? I heard that they managed to get most of the launch bugs fixed.

Nothing goes extinct as long as indie devs are supported.
