Reading what people have been saying about it other places it looks like they are copying e7. A 200 roll pity that I am guessing doesn't carry over. So it will burn impulse chuds but people who can wait for good banners should be fine. I never spent a cent in e7 and after a few years had 90% of the roster. It's just about being patient and not trying to have everything day one .

the pity carries over in a way. the elite/event points convert to regular and that shop rotates 5* chars that you can buy for 200 points. so if you impulse like a chud you wont be totally fricked long term

They got the Ryza collab about 9 weeks after launch. Accelerated schedule where there is no downtime between events. Unpredictable banner schedules as Kaguya was released months earlier on JP.

Tried the CBT for a few minutes. Not voiced so decided to wait for the official launch which should be. Looks good though, e7 but no males and tons of fanservice. Boobies everywhere and girls in their underwear. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long for the real thing. this game seems to use arknights system where you are only guaranteed at least one 4* in your FIRST 10 pulls on each banner rather, rather than every 10roll
so it's best to just single pull on each banner until you get your 4* and then save
there is a 200 roll spark to get the current rateup character on limited banners, or if you do 200 rolls on the standard banner you get to pick any 5* from the standard pool
newbie missions give picrel guaranteed on day 1, coombait levels are pretty high
CBT is all JP voices, they haven't even added EN yet.
the free 5* shinobu seems pretty strong for clearing story and farming trash
her 0 cd basic attack triggers an AOE nuke every time she hits an enemy below 50% hp, including if her attacks bring them below 50%, and she has very high speed so she usually acts first. with enough attack she can aoe oneshot all three waves for easy fast clears
strongest char is a 4* (alice) so pretty much when the game comes out you can just choose your level of reroll autism.
Level 1 reroll would be just do the infinite for ginga + key 3* like grace/roko prolly take you 5-10 min at most. (alice isnt on the infinite banner)
Level 2 reroll would be what i recommend is just use pre reg rolls and go for alice on the elite banner since the rate up 5* is a nice def down role filler compared to the event one and once you get alice you just do infinite like level 1 reroll. This can be easily multi instanced since tutorial is short. this would probably take <1 hour
Level 3 reroll would be go for alice + sirius but this would take probably a day of multi instance rerolling but for autists it could be worth it since you wont lose much if you are behind a day or 3. could also just do alice + any 5 which would take hours but not days.
the only real blow away 5* besides ginga is sirius at launch. 4* like alice and the event one are on par or better in situations. 3* grace is like the best farmer in the game, 3* roko is a fat boss killer, kana/timy and a bunch of other 3* all blast shit and you get one of the best healers on login day 2 (4* morris)
my strat will be to roll for alice and maybe +1 5* but i doubt it cause i know how strong 3/4* are. like another anon said the collab banners are op and those ryza units are top tier so they are easy chars to go for so ill prob chill for them. roll income for f2p is nearly 60 rolls a month minimum btw
also the exchange shop that your points roll over to if you roll on event/elite banners will have sirius eventually so you could just get alice and whatever rolls you do arent going to be wasted since you will get sirius at some point. you really cant really frick up long term since even if you impulse every roll you can pick and choose which 5* you want in the shop as they rotate.
the only real thing that you can frick up is not rolling alice so just focus on her as your primary reroll goal.

did you mean 5*? nope as far i play i cant spark any banner, but early game i think you can save up 200 rolls from honeymoon phase only(rookie mission and other stuff). after banner ends your spark points will convert into shop points that you can trade with 5* AG that rotate each 15 days i think.
if you mean guaranteed 4*, there is guaranteed 1 4* when you go 10 rolls. only 5* that got rate up, 4* are random

It's not a guarantee on just the first 10 rolls on that banner like in Arknights. How it actually works is your every *0 roll is at least a 4*. So 10, 20, so on. You don't have to do 10 draws at once either, it's the same even if you do singles.

Yeah, that's definitely wrong, reads like MTL. It's pretty simple and there's no real way to frick up. Doing singles is better but if you have over 1800 gems it only lets you do a 10 pull, so it only really applies if you're clearing a story stage and rolling every time you have over 180 - which is actually a good idea here contrary to most gacha because you could get your 5* target on roll 21 and decide not to drop another 9 rolls for a 4*. There's no real benefit out of trying to optimize 4* draws anyway, if you got your 5* target on roll 29 it might make sense to do another roll so you get a 4*, but as long as you're not missing Alice or Ruri it's whatever, most of them are middling, though Ruri dupes are nice.

Just played the EN and they already unlock the 4th gear farm which in jp we just wait a couple of months to get it.
Here some tips that will(maybe) help you
Story: all you need to progress in story is AG called 04 and grace, they going to help you push at least ch 7or8 story. not much happen in story, it's pretty mid just saying
Daily resource:
exp and gold daily only give once extra rewards per day, just do it once since it's not worth to farm it over and over. for money grind i'll tell you in a second
money:
this game need a TONs of money, but there is a method to aquire them by grinding gear equipments. if you can reach phase 7(6* rarity) of any type, you can grind this by repeat it 30 times with auto ai, then after that you can sell the equipment that has shit stats. 30 run can easily gives you 100k if you didn't get a single good gear. yes it's hard to get a good gear
Gear equipments:
not much to say, just get equipment that good with your AG like attack/crit damage to your carry or health/counter engine to your support/healer. there is also AG that scalling with speed/health so you know what to do.
Anything after you reach lvl 35 and clear 6-10 story:
there is operation called waypoint, its weekly thing that give you goodies such as gacha ticket/energy/skill lvl up mats/ and red crystal for swapping gear stats.
lava rift just clear it 100 floors and get the rewards. its gives you (idk forgot how many) gems and gold chip(for level up AG skills), the rewards itself reset every month and you dont need to clear it again, you just collect it and wait again next month
dont forget to join alliance since they too give you points to trade some goods like stamina pot/skill lvl up/ and 6*AG touka(monthly, also not very good)
pvp just pvp, just do it daily 10 times and get points to exchange items in supply like stamina pots/skill lvl-up/ and 6* AG lydia(decent AG)

If you don't mind could you tell us a little bit about the pvp meta. How it started and how it changed? Is speed king forever like it is in e7? Is there a bruiser/tank meta? What is the best meta for f2p players vs whales? Can you build for pve and pvp or do you need to focus on only one? Aside from the few banner characters you mentioned what other characters are core for pvp?
this game looks fun, i check the character list and i think i want 4 of then, hope i get enough gems in the start of the game to roll for cream if i save everything and still had enough for ryza, the other characters i like will take some time to get here.
Yes, they're using the same randomness as far as I could tell. Though there seems to be some obscure frickery where the speed stat has non-displayed decimals so your 15 speed could be 15.00 or 15.99.

Grace has 30% free crit rate from her S2 passive so she's really easy to gear. Also as a 3* unit she uses 3* specific skill mats so you can +5 all her skills since they are easily farmable. 5* unit skill mats are much more rare (weekly gated and/or from cash shop packs) so you're not going to want to invest a ton into a 5* just to farm when Grace does it just fine.

still CBT but, clear ch 6 or 7, reach lvl 35, unlock(and clear if possible, especially lava rift) all content first then farm 6* gear. from newbie mission you can get 6* 4/4 atk set. That set has pretty good substats, don't hesitate to upgrade it once you got em. They really help your progress in the game.
Pacific will be full of Singapore and other SEA whales that will shit on your face in PvP, but they'll also keep the game alive in the process. America will be dead in 3 months unless the entire E7 playerbase decides to migrate over to spite Smilegate.

Good thing about farming here is you can farm offline. Just load up a bunch of stamina, set it to offline farming and close the app. When you login later you get your results.
Only gacha I know of that doesn't use chibi's is e7. Ya it's not as good but you get used to it. Blue archive does some really good things with their chibi's. You can show a surprising amount of character if they care to make the effort.

You can start doing hunts if you can do at least phase 7 which drops 6* gear, before that it's a waste. Progress through the rookie training missions, they give you a couple of 5* attack sets with crit substats which are decent enough. There's a 6* set in stage 6 of the pre-mission briefing but doing that takes a bullshit amount of cat orb stage runs, something like 240 so I wouldn't bother. I'd focus on farming event stages or hard story stages to get fodder and 6* your main team before gambling stamina on hunts.
Dam. Seems like general consensus is they are very stingy on currency so you won't be pulling unless you buy the monthly. No way this model is going to work for the western audience when it's already not doing well in JP and CN.

E7's main issue is not having anything to do other than get dabbed on by whales in PvP even though the game had potential for PvE content and there are hundreds of RGB units that sit around having no niche because they're not good in arena. Artery Gear's gearing is better but still has no PvE content other than that shitty competitive boss time attack mode, whatever it was called. It doesn't have abyss, their abyss is more like the tower in that it's long, trivial and has garbage rewards. It doesn't have labyrinths, events are somehow even worse. And for PvP it doesn't have RTA either so it's a hard sell to anyone that wanted Epic 7 to be more than what it is.
AG isn't much better, the reason everyone thinks it's amazing is because it's easier (or doable at all) to reach the 15 max speed on every piece and not have to eat shit because you get outsped and cleaved every time. It's still horrible RNG weighted towards giving you garbage and whales will still wreck you by dumping money to farm gear all day. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to play it and wouldn't touch E7 again but the honeymoon wears off fast, so don't spend money in your first month.
I'm just going to play it to collect girls and read the story which I hear is pretty good. Don't give two shits about the rest because I know its crap designed to frick me.

The only thing AG has going for it is lewd art. Now that is a good selling point but it won't carry the game past the honeymoon phase. My suggestion is keep cs as your main game and play this one casually on the side until you get past the boobies and see the reality of the game.

It's up to you to decide, I like the idea of artery gear but it stinks to high heaven of a quick cash grab. The discord mods pretty much confirmed that most of the mtl isn't going to be fixed. Once people realize how broken some characters are and f2p have no chance of keeping up and there is nothing to do but wyvern and shitty pvp they will bail quickly. I'm going to play it just for the story as long as it stays interesting but there is no way this becomes a core gacha game for me. CS has a lot more going for it and a lot more proven longevity. But neither game is perfect, try them both and decide for yourself.

I just want a secondary game because I already have arknights. Tried Alchemy Stars, PGR and several others but they didn't catch my attention at all.
I will most likely try this one and see for myself. I hope there is some gameplay at least.
Counterside is more of a niche game and never managed to catch on and become that popular in the west (a SEA version in English was released a year ago but is slowly dying out now) or in Japan. But the global version that just started is published by the developer itself with no middleman so there's hopes it'll be treated decently and won't be shut down early. It does have very high production quality, amazing music and a very strong focus on story and characters, events go all out to expand the setting and present an enjoyable read. But the gameplay really isn't for everyone hence the lack of popularity in spite of its qualities, so you can only try it for yourself.
Artery Gear goes with the tried and true turn based formula, but the developer is extremely sketchy and the publisher being Billibilli (known for a ton of bullshit) isn't helping. The game is doing mediocrely in China and pretty bad in Japan partly because they decided to screw the JP release over with anti-consumer bullshit which is now being carried over into global. Also their approach to designing characters is to literally steal them from another game wholesale which doesn't feel very encouraging for its future if the devs can't even be fricked to design some units.
Takes not even 10 minutes thanks to skip, your usual run of the mill dailies for skills/exp/gear. I unironically don't even consider gachas anymore if they don't have skip.
Both counterside and artery gear are low-maintenance, counterside lets you skip anything you've 3-starred just like blue archive/princess connect, but there are a few things like dives, raids, strategy arena that you have to watch play out. You can get away with 10-20 minutes a day. Artery gear doesn't let you skip but it can repeat boss/stage runs in the background so you just set it to run 30 times and check back on it in a couple of hours.
Both games have one of those annoying base management minigames where you have to send your units on expeditions every so often but in neither case it's that important unless you want to really tryhard.

I'd argue counterside expeditions are extremely important because they straight up give you tickets to pull with in them. The difference in blue tickets between a vigilant/autistic player refreshing every 46 minutes and a lazy frick that just runs 8 hour expeditions gets pretty big over time.

It's a super autism thing like corpse dragging in GFL and guild wars in GBF, not something you have to do. You get more summoning tokens for SSR from it but you get tons of those anyway and the gated ones are the awakened summons. Counterside is a shit solved game that's been out too long to be enjoyable. We know what units we need, what ship to use and the deployment sequence in order to win everything including "pvp". There's no enjoyment to be had from the start.
Well that's not really true, first off what gacha released to the west isn't "solved"? We almost never have parity and always get a glimpse into the future. And this is a good thing it lets us plan ahead with our spending and not get baited by shitty banners. Do you really want to fly blind having no clue if you are blowing your hard earned pity on some character that will suck in a month?
As far as counterside goes you are just outright wrong about pvp. There is no deployment sequence for pvp since everyone is randomized and you never know which characters you will have available. This makes every match unique and where a lot of the strategy and moment to moment decisions come in to play. You have to figure out the best way to use the characters you have in the moment to counter whatever your opponent is playing. I don't think you have given the game much time if you think it is completely solved.

Counterside by a country mile. Artery gear is giving you three single pulls to reroll. Counterside gives you 160 on top of a ton more just to start out and constantly throws free stuff at you. There is no comparison.

Increased the pity from 110 to 200, removed all the desirable characters from the "unlimited" reroll, messed with the systems that let you move gear substats around to make it more restrictive (only between items dropped by the same boss instead of any item).

Coz I got 10 mins to kill on the way to and from work.
If I wanted characters to care about I just go read a book or watch a good show/movie.
Gacha games aren't made for their gripping plot lines or fleshed out characters, they're made to extract money from wallets via psychological warfare.
The less I gotta play in order to make any amount of progress the better, as it reduces my exposure and keeps -more- of my money in my wallet.
Eventually it'll manage to extract $5-$20 bucks, but it sure as shit won't be coz I'm emotionally invested in some shitty art's new dress/version.

You're mostly right about the first part and certainly right about the second. However I would say that there are a few exceptions to the first rule. Most gacha don't try very hard with the story and character development but there are a few exceptions.
I have not played every gacha out there but I have played a lot of them and from my personal experience I have found a couple that actually try in those areas.
The three best being honkai imapct. This one has the best story and delivery I have seen in any gacha as far as peak highs. Some of it can be jank and too wordy but the good moments are so good that you will hardly even care or remember the bad moments. However it's taken a nosedive in quality since mihoyo began to focus on their other games. And their gacha part of the game is the worst out of any gacha I have played.
Blue Archive has the best "casual/slice of life" story telling I have ever seen. The game has found some magical line that straddles some mature themes but somehow never veers off into edge. In fact it plays on those tropes and just when you think things are about to get edgy it subverts your expectations in a good way. It's the best comfy feel good story out there and is delivered in very nice short chunks easily digestible in 5 minute sessions. For someone that says they don't have a lot of time I think this one would work well for you.
Last would be Counterside, its presentation is probably the weakest of the three in that it doesn't have many flashy cutscenes like honkai and it plays with the edge sometimes unlike BA. But it is the most well rounded of the three giving you really great high moments, some really sad depressing moments and just enough humor sprinkled in to keep things from becoming arknights.

Honkai cutsceen is good, it allow you a moment to forget the story are either insufferable Lesbian love quarrel or try hard multiverse that require you to play every single game of Mihoyo to ever understands what the heck is going one and then you realized it is still about Kiana wants to munch Mei's carpet.
Counterside story is like Korean webtoon, tons of random dialogs and plot points and event and people scheming for the sake of scheming without any actualy payout or conclusion, it give the reader not a single moment of breath just to understand what the frick is going on because every time there is a conclusion, the write tried to Subvert that ending with a background conspiracy that have never been mentioned before.

Well since you seem to like about the stories in gachas, I do appreciate that comment for talking about it but my suggestion to you would be to play FGO since it's basically the best story in a gacha. Ignore the gacha itself and just go with whoever you get and use busted supports for fights if you don't care about that stuff beyond the absolute minimum you have to deal with.
The re-roll in this game is hell. I quit after I got Alice, and will just try for Sirius during her upcoming banner.
I am thinking of just going with Ginga, Alice, Morris, and Grace. It sucks I don't have a good green unit, but I guess I will just have to hope I get Roko, until I can pity Sirius
Eh, Ginga by herself is fine tbh, she'll get you to part 4 of the story, by then you'll have enough for 20 more pulls, hopefully it gets you at least 1 more 5 star, but if not it's not the end of the world.
Gear is more important than rarity tbh.
Obviously some units are gonna be more efficient with less gear but trying to chase after the most optimal setup in a gacha is a fool's gambit.
I really just like how Sirius looks and her kit seems fun. I don't plan on being a meta slave, but at the same time I would like to have a core team of units I like

There's a beginner mission chain that gives you a bunch of mediocre but usable welfare sets. A 3* HP and attack set, probably should ignore them but you can +3 if you're struggling early. A 4* HP, defense, attack set, +6 the HP set and put it on your healer, +6 the attack set and put it on your main dps. The defense set isn't ideal on anyone but you can use it to keep a support like Alice alive. The last sets are a pair of 5* attack sets, at least +6 each of these, they'll cover your 2 damage dealers for centaur. You can go past +6 as needed if you don't have the meta Alice + Ginga setup and are struggling.
Basicaly, always aim to complete the newbie missions and get more gear sets.
Is Artery Gear censored? I keep seeing a bunch of pictures of the girls with exposed skin instead of armor/skinsuits. Shit sucks, and now that e-girl is wearing fricking jeans?
Shouldn't be. JP gets the two versions of outfits (skimpy and covered) so we should to. Honestly it's smart to sell them both, so they can get money from tards, coomers and collecters.
That being said, alot of people whine about a skin that was "censored" from beta. Like it was shown skimpier in the original beta and was "censored" on release, but it's the only version of the skin that's existed on live servers.
There's some reverse-censorship in games. For example one of the units, Ginga, is a kitsune wearing a knee length kimono in ads, but in game she's clearly wearing a leotard with all her thigh visible. Lots of scanty clad e-girls as well.

Anything in this game is a whale bait, from the limited super OP collab character to the gear farming PVP to the event boss.
Kraken is just the last straw that broke the camel's back for me. I am out of stamina, out of gem and out of patient for this game.

I wouldn't even call it whale bait. Whales can solve every situation with money in gacha. This one is no exception. This is more failure on game design. For whatever reason they love the idea of not being able to kill something for plenty of turns. In this case it just happens to be in a really awful way AND on an important fight.
I'll probably quit the game myself soon enough. I stuck around to build an atelier team and will probably (at least try) to do so. Once that's done.. I'm done. Most likely.

Reading what people have been saying about it other places it looks like they are copying e7. A 200 roll pity that I am guessing doesn't carry over. So it will burn impulse chuds but people who can wait for good banners should be fine. I never spent a cent in e7 and after a few years had 90% of the roster. It's just about being patient and not trying to have everything day one .

They got the Ryza collab about 9 weeks after launch. Accelerated schedule where there is no downtime between events. Unpredictable banner schedules as Kaguya was released months earlier on JP.

Tried the CBT for a few minutes. Not voiced so decided to wait for the official launch which should be. Looks good though, e7 but no males and tons of fanservice. this game seems to use arknights system where you are only guaranteed at least one 4* in your FIRST 10 pulls on each banner rather, rather than every 10roll
so it's best to just single pull on each banner until you get your 4* and then save
there is a 200 roll spark to get the current rateup character on limited banners, or if you do 200 rolls on the standard banner you get to pick any 5* from the standard pool

the free 5* shinobu seems pretty strong for clearing story and farming trash
her 0 cd basic attack triggers an AOE nuke every time she hits an enemy below 50% hp, including if her attacks bring them below 50%, and she has very high speed so she usually acts first. with enough attack she can aoe oneshot all three waves for easy fast clears
strongest char is a 4* (alice) so pretty much when the game comes out you can just choose your level of reroll autism.
Level 1 reroll would be just do the infinite for ginga + key 3* like grace/roko prolly take you 5-10 min at most. (alice isnt on the infinite banner)
Level 2 reroll would be what i recommend is just use pre reg rolls and go for alice on the elite banner since the rate up 5* is a nice def down role filler compared to the event one and once you get alice you just do infinite like level 1 reroll. This can be easily multi instanced since tutorial is short. this would probably take <1 hour
Level 3 reroll would be go for alice + sirius but this would take probably a day of multi instance rerolling but for autists it could be worth it since you wont lose much if you are behind a day or 3. could also just do alice + any 5 which would take hours but not days.
the only real blow away 5* besides ginga is sirius at launch. 4* like alice and the event one are on par or better in situations. 3* grace is like the best farmer in the game, 3* roko is a fat boss killer, kana/timy and a bunch of other 3* all blast shit and you get one of the best healers on login day 2 (4* morris)
my strat will be to roll for alice and maybe +1 5* but i doubt it cause i know how strong 3/4* are. like another anon said the collab banners are op and those ryza units are top tier so they are easy chars to go for so ill prob chill for them. roll income for f2p is nearly 60 rolls a month minimum btw
also the exchange shop that your points roll over to if you roll on event/elite banners will have sirius eventually so you could just get alice and whatever rolls you do arent going to be wasted since you will get sirius at some point. you really cant really frick up long term since even if you impulse every roll you can pick and choose which 5* you want in the shop as they rotate.
the only real thing that you can frick up is not rolling alice so just focus on her as your primary reroll goal.

did you mean 5*? nope as far i play i cant spark any banner, but early game i think you can save up 200 rolls from honeymoon phase only(rookie mission and other stuff). after banner ends your spark points will convert into shop points that you can trade with 5* AG that rotate each 15 days i think.
if you mean guaranteed 4*, there is guaranteed 1 4* when you go 10 rolls. only 5* that got rate up, 4* are random

It's not a guarantee on just the first 10 rolls on that banner like in Arknights. How it actually works is your every *0 roll is at least a 4*. So 10, 20, so on. You don't have to do 10 draws at once either, it's the same even if you do singles.

Yeah, that's definitely wrong, reads like MTL. It's pretty simple and there's no real way to frick up. Doing singles is better but if you have over 1800 gems it only lets you do a 10 pull, so it only really applies if you're clearing a story stage and rolling every time you have over 180 - which is actually a good idea here contrary to most gacha because you could get your 5* target on roll 21 and decide not to drop another 9 rolls for a 4*. There's no real benefit out of trying to optimize 4* draws anyway, if you got your 5* target on roll 29 it might make sense to do another roll so you get a 4*, but as long as you're not missing Alice or Ruri it's whatever, most of them are middling, though Ruri dupes are nice.

Just played the EN and they already unlock the 4th gear farm which in jp we just wait a couple of months to get it.
Here some tips that will(maybe) help you
Story: all you need to progress in story is AG called 04 and grace, they going to help you push at least ch 7or8 story. not much happen in story, it's pretty mid just saying
Daily resource:
exp and gold daily only give once extra rewards per day, just do it once since it's not worth to farm it over and over. for money grind i'll tell you in a second
money:
this game need a TONs of money, but there is a method to aquire them by grinding gear equipments. if you can reach phase 7(6* rarity) of any type, you can grind this by repeat it 30 times with auto ai, then after that you can sell the equipment that has shit stats. 30 run can easily gives you 100k if you didn't get a single good gear. yes it's hard to get a good gear
Gear equipments:
not much to say, just get equipment that good with your AG like attack/crit damage to your carry or health/counter engine to your support/healer. there is also AG that scalling with speed/health so you know what to do.
Anything after you reach lvl 35 and clear 6-10 story:
there is operation called waypoint, its weekly thing that give you goodies such as gacha ticket/energy/skill lvl up mats/ and red crystal for swapping gear stats.
lava rift just clear it 100 floors and get the rewards. its gives you (idk forgot how many) gems and gold chip(for level up AG skills), the rewards itself reset every month and you dont need to clear it again, you just collect it and wait again next month
dont forget to join alliance since they too give you points to trade some goods like stamina pot/skill lvl up/ and 6*AG touka(monthly, also not very good)
pvp just pvp, just do it daily 10 times and get points to exchange items in supply like stamina pots/skill lvl-up/ and 6* AG lydia(decent AG)

Milvus. great dps for pvp, mostly one shot anything
Shura. first banner and broken after she get her UE, her damage scalling with HP so big hp dps is so good in this game
Sirius. fast as frick, she is the most dependable green dps for now(hopely forever)
Cream. your broken healer for pvp, if you saw one in their formation you better back off since she is nuts(or you got speed and sirius you probably fine, i guess)
Revisia. another healer but she can revive your unit and give that unit immunity, that's it
4*:
Alice. you need that extra turn
Morris. your beloved healer that can heal all units every 2 turns if you use her 2nd skill to herself
Ruri. broken dps AG in pvp(par with milvus), she can one shot mostly anything that not green in the field. also she has major role in octopus gear boss(4th one in gear boss challenge)
Colux. she is speed user that can retract enemy's action gauge, good dps with speed are broken in this game
Chihaya. first wellfare unit and she is better than any wellfare unit yet, good debuffer with extra turn when crit hits. also can extends debuff of the target 1 turn.
3*:
Timmy. major roles in pvp, maxed out her speed to 260 and you win(mostly if your dps not choke or anything)
Roco. poison stack, like 5%/poison. you can stack mostly 5-6, if you give her turn with alice and speed her, the enemies will have a bad time. she is too good for low rarity units.

For ryza, you CANNOT maxed out UE equipment any gacha units if you only do it f2p.
yeah that scummy shit, you need to gacha more after you get the unit on 90 rolls to get mats for UE.
also ryza has the best event in the game yet, just save your stamina potion just for this event and grind the frick out that lottery. at least 500 pots you can spent here can give you a TONS of equipment enhance material since it's pretty hard to get.
gay collab is shit, you can only maxed out one out of 2 gacha unit, like UE and skill level. just choose wisely what unit you want to maxed out, the other one would have lvl 0 skill and UE tho.
event the story is shit in this collab, not like ryza, this event is so shit that i almost quit because how bad that is.

What is the best meta for f2p players vs whales? Can you build for pve and pvp or do you need to focus on only one? Aside from the few banner characters you mentioned what other characters are core for pvp?

What determines who goes first when speeds are tied? Is there a random +5 -5 like in e7?
Yes, they're using the same randomness as far as I could tell. Though there seems to be some obscure frickery where the speed stat has non-displayed decimals so your 15 speed could be 15.00 or 15.99.
Grace has 30% free crit rate from her S2 passive so she's really easy to gear. Also as a 3* unit she uses 3* specific skill mats so you can +5 all her skills since they are easily farmable. 5* unit skill mats are much more rare (weekly gated and/or from cash shop packs) so you're not going to want to invest a ton into a 5* just to farm when Grace does it just fine.
You forgot to mention Grace's best ability, if she gets a kill with her ultimate it doesn't go on cooldown.

grace + 04 + any green + any fourth char you want (your team already matches this so you're basically fine)
grace and 04 should give enough non-cd-dependent cleave to keep oneshotting trash waves as long as you keep them leveled up and geared.
you need at least one each of r g b in your general story team since a lot of stages have "use one r", "use one g", "use one b" as 3* requirements.
you might swap ruri for ginga as your fourth for more single target damage in boss stages. not sure which other units are great boss nukers. Or you could swap 04 and Hearin out for Morris and a green DPS

Yeah, same deal as early E7 for PvE, your healer is going to tank. Slap HP on Morris and put her in front, she spams S2 on herself and reduces her CD then keeps the rest of the party up with S3.

no, the AI here target who is with disadvantaged element, like if the bosses is green, they would likely target the blue one. but sometimes the frontliner got beaten too, i forgot the chances.
the formation itself doesn't matter unless you got ryza which her passive makes the ally in position 1 share 30% of damage taken towards her.

still CBT but, clear ch 6 or 7, reach lvl 35, unlock(and clear if possible, especially lava rift) all content first then farm 6* gear. from newbie mission you can get 6* 4/4 atk set. That set has pretty good substats, don't hesitate to upgrade it once you got em. They really help your progress in the game.

Good thing about farming here is you can farm offline. Just load up a bunch of stamina, set it to offline farming and close the app. When you login later you get your results.

at what point do we start farming hunts for gear? do we go through all 7 chapters then switch to hunt or what? at chapter 4 and clearing has slowed a bit with just +6 attack gear
You can start doing hunts if you can do at least phase 7 which drops 6* gear, before that it's a waste. Progress through the rookie training missions, they give you a couple of 5* attack sets with crit substats which are decent enough. There's a 6* set in stage 6 of the pre-mission briefing but doing that takes a bullshit amount of cat orb stage runs, something like 240 so I wouldn't bother. I'd focus on farming event stages or hard story stages to get fodder and 6* your main team before gambling stamina on hunts.

The gearing is better, which is E7's main issue.
E7's main issue is not having anything to do other than get dabbed on by whales in PvP even though the game had potential for PvE content and there are hundreds of RGB units that sit around having no niche because they're not good in arena. Artery Gear's gearing is better but still has no PvE content other than that shitty competitive boss time attack mode, whatever it was called. It doesn't have abyss, their abyss is more like the tower in that it's long, trivial and has garbage rewards. It doesn't have labyrinths, events are somehow even worse. And for PvP it doesn't have RTA either so it's a hard sell to anyone that wanted Epic 7 to be more than what it is.
That's alot of words to say that E7's gearing is shit.
AG isn't much better, the reason everyone thinks it's amazing is because it's easier (or doable at all) to reach the 15 max speed on every piece and not have to eat shit because you get outsped and cleaved every time. It's still horrible RNG weighted towards giving you garbage and whales will still wreck you by dumping money to farm gear all day. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to play it and wouldn't touch E7 again but the honeymoon wears off fast, so don't spend money in your first month.

Because counterside is a real game ran by people that at least pretend to care and don't shit down your throat for being f2p. It's also not machine translated, has a killer story and soundtrack and also not chibi's. Also the pvp is the only actual fun pvp in all of gacha that I will play even after rewards are dried up.
The only thing AG has going for it is lewd art. Now that is a good selling point but it won't carry the game past the honeymoon phase. My suggestion is keep cs as your main game and play this one casually on the side until you get past the boobies and see the reality of the game.

It's up to you to decide, I like the idea of artery gear but it stinks to high heaven of a quick cash grab. The discord mods pretty much confirmed that most of the mtl isn't going to be fixed. Once people realize how broken some characters are and f2p have no chance of keeping up and there is nothing to do but wyvern and shitty pvp they will bail quickly. I'm going to play it just for the story as long as it stays interesting but there is no way this becomes a core gacha game for me. CS has a lot more going for it and a lot more proven longevity. But neither game is perfect, try them both and decide for yourself.

Counter side has a nice skip feature which means you can get resources for the day in less than 10 minutes if needed so it slots in nicely for me.

I just want a secondary game because I already have arknights. Tried Alchemy Stars, PGR and several others but they didn't catch my attention at all.
I will most likely try this one and see for myself. I hope there is some gameplay at least.
Counterside is more of a niche game and never managed to catch on and become that popular in the west (a SEA version in English was released a year ago but is slowly dying out now) or in Japan. But the global version that just started is published by the developer itself with no middleman so there's hopes it'll be treated decently and won't be shut down early. It does have very high production quality, amazing music and a very strong focus on story and characters, events go all out to expand the setting and present an enjoyable read. But the gameplay really isn't for everyone hence the lack of popularity in spite of its qualities, so you can only try it for yourself.
Artery Gear goes with the tried and true turn based formula, but the developer is extremely sketchy and the publisher being Billibilli (known for a ton of bullshit) isn't helping. The game is doing mediocrely in China and pretty bad in Japan partly because they decided to screw the JP release over with anti-consumer bullshit which is now being carried over into global. Also their approach to designing characters is to literally steal them from another game wholesale which doesn't feel very encouraging for its future if the devs can't even be fricked to design some units.

Takes not even 10 minutes thanks to skip, your usual run of the mill dailies for skills/exp/gear. I unironically don't even consider gachas anymore if they don't have skip.
Both counterside and artery gear are low-maintenance, counterside lets you skip anything you've 3-starred just like blue archive/princess connect, but there are a few things like dives, raids, strategy arena that you have to watch play out. You can get away with 10-20 minutes a day. Artery gear doesn't let you skip but it can repeat boss/stage runs in the background so you just set it to run 30 times and check back on it in a couple of hours.
Both games have one of those annoying base management minigames where you have to send your units on expeditions every so often but in neither case it's that important unless you want to really tryhard.
I'd argue counterside expeditions are extremely important because they straight up give you tickets to pull with in them. The difference in blue tickets between a vigilant/autistic player refreshing every 46 minutes and a lazy frick that just runs 8 hour expeditions gets pretty big over time.

There's really no point in rerolling, it's a stingy Epic Seven clone that you will drop in a week. Rerolling is just a waste of time for a game this mediocre.
I think they raised the pity and did some other stuff. Anyways I'm just going to give it a shot and see how it goes. If we really don't get any resources to roll I'll just take whatever I get and play the story and probably quit after that.
Counterside is a shit solved game that's been out too long to be enjoyable. We know what units we need, what ship to use and the deployment sequence in order to win everything including "pvp". There's no enjoyment to be had from the start.
Well that's not really true, first off what gacha released to the west isn't "solved"? We almost never have parity and always get a glimpse into the future. And this is a good thing it lets us plan ahead with our spending and not get baited by shitty banners. Do you really want to fly blind having no clue if you are blowing your hard earned pity on some character that will suck in a month?
As far as counterside goes you are just outright wrong about pvp. There is no deployment sequence for pvp since everyone is randomized and you never know which characters you will have available. This makes every match unique and where a lot of the strategy and moment to moment decisions come in to play. You have to figure out the best way to use the characters you have in the moment to counter whatever your opponent is playing. I don't think you have given the game much time if you think it is completely solved.

Well now that I have read the thread I will possibly try both CounterSide and Artery Gear and hope one will stick.
One question though which one is fairer to the player? I don't mind supporting with monthly passes as long as the gacha is actually fair.
Counterside by a country mile. Artery gear is giving you three single pulls to reroll. Counterside gives you 160 on top of a ton more just to start out and constantly throws free stuff at you. There is no comparison.

She's not a playable character, she's one of the support summons that gives you a buff (Arky if you played Epic 7).
Increased the pity from 110 to 200, removed all the desirable characters from the "unlimited" reroll, messed with the systems that let you move gear substats around to make it more restrictive (only between items dropped by the same boss instead of any item).

The google doc lists the "censored" version of this skin as CN/JP so it might be safe to assume the change went to all versions. Some people in the discord are talking about censored loading screens and a home screen character showing up as censored but no idea if it's a bug, ios thing, or what.

You're mostly right about the first part and certainly right about the second. However I would say that there are a few exceptions to the first rule. Most gacha don't try very hard with the story and character development but there are a few exceptions.
I have not played every gacha out there but I have played a lot of them and from my personal experience I have found a couple that actually try in those areas.
The three best being honkai imapct. This one has the best story and delivery I have seen in any gacha as far as peak highs. Some of it can be jank and too wordy but the good moments are so good that you will hardly even care or remember the bad moments. However it's taken a nosedive in quality since mihoyo began to focus on their other games. And their gacha part of the game is the worst out of any gacha I have played.
Blue Archive has the best "casual/slice of life" story telling I have ever seen. The game has found some magical line that straddles some mature themes but somehow never veers off into edge. In fact it plays on those tropes and just when you think things are about to get edgy it subverts your expectations in a good way. It's the best comfy feel good story out there and is delivered in very nice short chunks easily digestible in 5 minute sessions. For someone that says they don't have a lot of time I think this one would work well for you.
Last would be Counterside, its presentation is probably the weakest of the three in that it doesn't have many flashy cutscenes like honkai and it plays with the edge sometimes unlike BA. But it is the most well rounded of the three giving you really great high moments, some really sad depressing moments and just enough humor sprinkled in to keep things from becoming arknights.
Honkai cutsceen is good, it allow you a moment to forget the story are either insufferable Lesbian love quarrel or try hard multiverse that require you to play every single game of Mihoyo to ever understands what the heck is going one and then you realized it is still about Kiana wants to munch Mei's carpet.
Counterside story is like Korean webtoon, tons of random dialogs and plot points and event and people scheming for the sake of scheming without any actualy payout or conclusion, it give the reader not a single moment of breath just to understand what the frick is going on because every time there is a conclusion, the write tried to Subvert that ending with a background conspiracy that have never been mentioned before.
Well since you seem to like about the stories in gachas, I do appreciate that comment for talking about it but my suggestion to you would be to play FGO since it's basically the best story in a gacha. Ignore the gacha itself and just go with whoever you get and use busted supports for fights if you don't care about that stuff beyond the absolute minimum you have to deal with.

Obviously some units are gonna be more efficient with less gear but trying to chase after the most optimal setup in a gacha is a fool's gambit.

How should I gear up in the early game?
There's a beginner mission chain that gives you a bunch of mediocre but usable welfare sets. A 3* HP and attack set, probably should ignore them but you can +3 if you're struggling early. A 4* HP, defense, attack set, +6 the HP set and put it on your healer, +6 the attack set and put it on your main dps. The defense set isn't ideal on anyone but you can use it to keep a support like Alice alive. The last sets are a pair of 5* attack sets, at least +6 each of these, they'll cover your 2 damage dealers for centaur. You can go past +6 as needed if you don't have the meta Alice + Ginga setup and are struggling.
Basicaly, always aim to complete the newbie missions and get more gear sets.

There is literally a skin that has an option that's censored and one that is uncensored that you can buy at the same price.
There's some reverse-censorship in games. For example one of the units, Ginga, is a kitsune wearing a knee length kimono in ads, but in game she's clearly wearing a leotard with all her thigh visible. Lots of scanty clad e-girls as well.

I wouldn't even call it whale bait. Whales can solve every situation with money in gacha. This one is no exception. This is more failure on game design. For whatever reason they love the idea of not being able to kill something for plenty of turns. In this case it just happens to be in a really awful way AND on an important fight.
