They sabotaged its sales after 1 fricking month by shoving it out of the way for the Gen 9 announcement. As literally anybody could’ve guessed, PLA sales plummeted from March onward, and it never had a holiday season like every other Pokémon game. PLA was, quite literally, on track to hit 20+ million if they had let it have 2022 to itself and release another update/DLC. Rushing Gen 9 in a year early is the worst business decision TPC has made in the last decade.
I have to agree - locking Zorua/Zoroark behind an event in BW was the key to its downfall.
At least we have Hisuian Zoroark now which is way better anyway.

Not really. If PLA had the year and did reach 20 mill, big woop. They would have a 14 million seller (given BDSP's sales trajectory stays the same in the hypothatical) and a 20 million seller. The way they did it now, they have TWO 14 million sellers and a 23 million seller (and counting). They objectively got more gains than any other method

The fact that it's landed first in several different polls among separate demographics on top of it alongside the other two Alola final stagers landing in the Top 10 for the region on the POTY poll (which no other region got btw) proves it.
On the flipside, Quaxly wasn't ridiculed, it was just written off. People didn't hate it, but they found it boring compared to the other two. Then, come Quaquaval, people either hated or were indifferent to that, so Quaxly didn't get any sort of boost.

The frick are you talking about? Primarina ended up decently popular and Inteleon outright challenged Cinderace's supremacy in Japan and got the push to back it up (inclusion in spinoffs, top anime billing, it's own themed merch line, etc.)

Yes, that is in spite of GF pushing Incineroar and Decidueye far harder. Just in terms of game appearances Incineroar and Decidueye got major spots in Pokken and Smash. Primarina got a bit part in Pokemon Snap. Incineroar got to feature in a movie and anime prominantly and while Lana did get a Primarina is nothing compared to Ash getting his Incineroar or and Kukui having his (plus Primarina got humilated in the Pokemon league.
I can't speak on Inteleon since I checked out of Galar as a whole.
Primarina was the first Alolan first partner to evolve into her final stage in the anime and is Lana’s ace.

Quaquaval getting shafted is such a waste because it could easily be the coolest looking Pokemon when fights and has the most personality to it. But people feel insecure about it being effeminate so GF is ignoring it.

Hilarious, because it's actually the opposite. No body fricking cares about the gay duck since reveal and the final evo leaks cemented it's place as a failure, meanwhile Zoroark was actually fairly popular but it being locked by stupid events and had it's gimmick spoiled by team preview ruined it's popularity growth.

Maybe not that unpopular, but I feel like trade evolutions in general are always held back a little and these ones more so because they're decent but not as good as Alakazam or Scizor.
