as a lifetime FFfan, i’m kinda disappointed in this ngl.
it’s flashy and cool, but where’s the heart?
why does clive have no personality?
I’m at 74% completion, I hope it gets better

>doesn’t even show a cinematics trailer on startup or after idling on the main menu
like, how is this even a jrpg?
Menu is interractive therefore no need for a screen saver.

>as a lifetime FFfan
Figures, its barely a RPG at all
But as someone who completed his FF ever, I was having a blast, since 1/3 of the game felt bloated already
>I’m at 74% completion, I hope it gets better
Not really, only gets more straight forward
I mean, you can go back to old places anytime right until the end, but why would you
You can go back after the end too. You can load the cleared save file and you're right back before Origin and can do pretty much anything you want. Enjoy that hazy purple skyslop.
>Clive has no personality
Pretty sure he has more personality than most of the other FF protagonists combined.
he never does anything but murder and be solemn
>plot about his brother
>plot about ppl recognizing him
>plot with Jill
>plot with Sid (which goes on way too long btw)
Nah youre wrong mate
If you mean the broodiness and trying to sound cool at any given moment that's an English dub thing. He's a normal humble guy in JP.
except this is the rare instance where the japanese is the localization
That's fake news. anon. The game was written in Japanese, it's the lipsync that was only done in English.
I am a huge FF 15 fan and FF 16 was a massive disappointment - I wanted to love it so much, but there is just nothing to like in this game aside from combat and flashy boss fights. The game is a case study in what having zero fricking focus does to a motherfricker - Black folk got so carried away with trying to do everything that they ended up doing nothing of value. Still amazed how there are NO DUNGEONS AND NO LOOT IN A FRICKING FINAL FANTASY GAME.
It doesn't get better.
They wanted the action audience and forgot about their own
Happens oftenly nowadays
On a sidenote, how long did it take you to complete FF15 ?
Cause I dropped it some hours in when it went literally nowhere
170 hours for 100% completion, almost literally 100%, but if you're only interested in the main story it's like 30-40 hours at most.
FF 15` story is a mess and gameplay progression is pretty nonsensical, but you can blitz through the first half of the story rather quickly ( it's barebones and mostly just filler, the story really picks up in the second half though) and then go back to the actual good content of the game - exploration, doing dumb fun shit with your bros, and dungeons/bosses.
I'd suggest you give it a chance IF you care about the party members and Noctis's friendship with them and Noctis` personal journey on learning what it means to be a prince, because they're the heart and soul of FF15 and it's extremelly comfy time all the time when you're with your chocobros. Make sure to visit every camping spot for special scenes with them. Speedrun your way to chapter 13, then Google Armiger Unleashed ( it is a must have for fun in combat) and explore the game for as much as you can, then continue with the main story.
The main villain of the game is straight up the best villain in the series. The ending to the game is also just *chef`s kiss*. Too fricking bad you'd have to play all DLCs AND watch an anime episode on YT to really appreciate all the characters, so I urge you to do those things as well - it's obvious when you should play which DLC, but you can just google it if it's not so obvious.
It's a mess of a game, but boy do I fricking love that mess.
Holy shit, not gonna lie, that sounds a bit intimidating but thanks for the feedback
Ive got it laying around here, I should give it another go at some point
The Royal version, right?
You really should and if you don't like the game then at least watch all the cutscenes on YT - the villain deserves that much. And all the party banter/campfire side quests for good vibes and some laughs.
>NO DUNGEONS AND NO LOOT IN A FRICKING FINAL FANTASY GAME.
There were no Status Effects or elemental weaknesses or interesting secrets either. There wasn't even a fricking customizable party. Any Final Fantasy game missing one of these things isn't a Final Fantasy game.
The status effects thing is a waterfall effect of the "only control a single character" decision.
So much was lost by moving this away from being a party-based game.
it really feels as if it was once intended to be clive, jill, and joshua with a rotating 4th member, but they realized they didn’t have time to do it well and narrowed the vision.
the segment at the beginning when you play as joshua and the meeting later on when you control phoenix made me think there was gonna be some back and forth shit for the first half like 13 did until the party all got together.
would’ve been really cool maybe
I see the heart in the game, and it's the first FF I've fully beaten since X.
But... mainline FFs NEED to have full party control, it's a big part of the appeal of these games. The entire "I'm nothing without the people who helped me" thing at the end of this game falls flat because he's literally doing everything by himself.
How "bad" it is on Ganker is heavily over exaggerated, but it's true that it's definitely missing some major things that would make this a "good" FF. I hope they don't go in this direction for the next main FF game.
>mainline FFs NEED to have full party control
When you stop fighting and look around, the others do barely any fighting at all
Youre way too overpowered any, probably wouldve crashed the balance completely
They should have had party control in waves. One after the time skip that tastefully ends in time for you to fight Kupka and Bahamut. Then another one after Bahamut, probably when Odin literally kills you.
It gets worse
The main thing is that I don't think this game does anything exceptionally well compared to other FF (character/story-wise) or action games (gameplaywise). And even when I feel its overall better than 13 or 15, certain aspects in them make them stand out at the very least in despite their downs.
>why does clive have no personality
Think of it as Alfred's origin story.
He lives for other people. He couldn't be on his own. He has to dedicate his life to someone.
>Barry falseflag
nothing to se here
As a lifetime fan I fricking loved it. Sucks to be a jaded homosexual loser like you. Get a different hobby.
>Titan Lost hypes me up for the possibilities of the rest of the game
>Nothing lives up to it
I mean Bahamut and Ultima didnt reach those levels of hype but they were still pretty awesome. Jaded homosexual b***h
Ultima couldve been literally copied from an anime 1:1
>"Ive created you, I can destroy you"
>"No way gay, Ive got the power of friendship"
>"Your will makes you weak..."
>"...oh no, your will makes you strong, I was wrong"
>The end
I would hate the game even more if it had power of friendship - leave that shit to Persona, only even Persona knows better by now.
the thing that makes the Ultima fight worth it is that he's such an annoying little shit that ruined the promising political drama of this game that it's just so satisfying beating the shit out of him
>blaming a character for the writer's decision
If this game had more political drama between kingdoms it would have been better sure. Ultima was revealed far to early just to give Joshua something to have screen time for, and even he doesn't develop at all for the rest of the game. He was unironically a better character as a kid in the prologue.
Hey now, Bahamut was pretty dope.
But yeah, Titan Lost straight up escaped from God of War 3, its ridiculous how epic his fight was.
>clive
that name alone is why i wouldn't have played it
Can't believe Joshua died and clive lived to make babies
Only if they sell enough copies for a sequel, otherwise hes dead
>why does clive have no personality?
It's not so much the personality, but you will soon realize that all character arcs were finished at the second time skip.
The last half of the game is just Cid the Outlaw doing sidequests and somehow breaking every crystal and Joshua learning Ultima's secrets back to back after 5 years of wandering around half of the continent doing nothing.
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned "elemental affinities" and "dungeons"
This song slaps
