As someone who grew up playing HOMM3, Heroes of Might and Magic 5 is better
It's not opinion, it's fact
The music, the animations, the units, the strategy, the battles, the world map and the towns are all superior in 5.

You don't need to make threads to state facts though. If you really thought that like I do, you'd just be satisfied knowing you were true.
I enjoy both
I totally agree, but then I realized that both games are fundamentally flawed and that I never want to play them or any like them ever again.
This. I don't know if it's because I got older or if it's because games have improved in some way, but HoMM style games are horrid now. You just go around the same maps making your army bigger and if you lose once it's over.
>You just go around the same maps making your army bigger and if you lose once it's over.
Sounds like almost every strategy game ever
HoMM always felt less recoverable to me. Other games give you a chance to come back in some way. These don't. It's just reload fricko.
Personally, I disagree. If your non-main hero got defeated, it didn't mean shit. If your main hero got into a fight, he could run away or surrender, and you could purchase him a tavern, restock his army and continue where he was previously, or try to go trough a different route to surprise the enemy. Constrast this to a game like Civilization in which if you fricked on your planned win route and you didn't get lucky and find a good spot on the map, you can really win unless your openent also fricks in their planned win route by a degree greater than or equal to yours.
The only exception is the Witch's Hut. Frick that shit. The possibility of refusing a skill alone makes HotA worth installing.
>Opponent gets tome of earth or spellbinders hat
gameplay of 5 is fine but i personally hate the artstyle the went with
literally soul vs soulless (3v5)
aren't those things all the same thing?
>soul vs soulless (3v5)
Boring generic fantasy vs boring generic fantasy
>The music
It was OK, but 3's was better
>the animations
The animations in were janky and it constantly reused models where it shouldn't have
>the units
OK, you're right here
>the strategy
It's not that different from 3
>the battles
If you enjoy the 1.41 movement penalty for moving diagonally...
>the world map
OK, you're right here too
>the towns
Maybe the castles, but the towns? No way.
In 5 every town and village felt like it was trying to be the biggest capital in the world. You couldn't have small, remote places. The sense of scale is lost if everything is huge.
Also, 5 fricked the magic system and the lore
HoMM3 managed to have the weakest music of the series. Not to say there isn't good stuff (Fortress/Stronghold, I even like understated last minute 3D0 bankruptcy Conflux) but every other Heroes game up to 5 blows 3's music out of the water.
Never played 6 or 7 but heard a couple remixes from the RPGs that ended up in 6 I think
bump
>elves and dwarfs
no thanks lmao
Sorceress Town in HoMM 2 was my favorite town besides Knight and Barbarian, it was downhill from there on until the town disappeared completely
when elves, dwarfs, humans and mythical creatures where still together in one town
Sorc was badass. I remember I talked to the guy who made the music. The opera used some famous woman in Europe at the time for the vocals.
Homm3 was when the game started losing soul
this shit looks like WoW knockoff, map is garbage no idea how you can say its superior lol
>this shit looks like WoW knockoff
Because its a big Warhammer knockoff.
I like the skill wheel and the alternative upgrades.
I dislike the story, it's characters and the map design (just one corridor after another)
Hexes > squares, so your post is irrelevant
