Asgard Wrath 2

This is the most fricking fun i had in videogame in years. Frick all the anti-vr gays that said vr is just a gimmick, VR is on the menu, its fricking good and i can't wait for more.
Anyone playing AW2 ? Also recommend me more kino games for Q3 (for standalone, because my pc kinda sucks)

Also note that AW2 doesn't have any specific graphical enhancements on Quest 3 yet, just 90hz and higher resolution/LOD distance

So no framedrops below 72 and the resolution is higher by a good margin? It's not PCVR tier but 1600x1800 per eye is really good for a mobile chip. I assume you can use that quest overclocker tool and increase the FPS or resolution right? Would probably need so big powerbanks with the increase watt usage tho lol

What's so special about this game in particular? I got it for free with my Quest 3 but haven't bothered to play it yet but everywhere I look everyone is shilling it like the second coming.

It's a proper game. Not a fricking tech demo.
It has nice story, actual gameplay, big ass open world. shitton of secrets. Nice responsive combat based on parying and exposing weak points. Boss fights are fricking cool.
Overall it's an actual GAME with ending and shit. Those are rare in VR. Also it looks great for a standalone game.

See, my thing with VR (or at least Quest 2) is that I can only do it for 1-2 hour bursts before I have to shut it off for the evening, so the big games take me forever. It’s been out for a month, and I still haven’t finished the VR version of the RE4 remake. It’s not a motion sickness thing, my face just starts to get really uncomfortable.

I just want some decent on-rails shooters, and nobody aside from Supermassive are making them. Where’s stuff like House of the Dead, Panzer Dragoon, Time Crisis, Resident Evil Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles, or Dead Space Extraction. Or, for that matter, non-sim driving games? I’m talking Crazy Taxi, Burnout, or even Twisted Metal. I’ve got Gran Turismo 7 on PSVR2 with the racing wheel, and it’s cool as hell, so I can only imagine what one that drops all pretenses of realism, and just goes balls-out arcade would be like.

They ruined it by making it exclusive to the headset and having it ran on mobile hardware. The first one runs off PC and it looks fricking incredible and before you go "lmao graphicsgay", I wouldn't mind if the graphics were stylized like Saints & Sinners but this shit is trying to look realistic and high end like the first game and it fails miserably.

I am not buying an additional VR headset for one game.
Il wait for an Emulator for PC VR.
Gpus are getting good enough to render games in VR wo having to sacrifice quality.
And its sad that Oculus is holding the medium back by making a Device that forces PS2 graphics and and then makes exclusives for it basically saying frick you to the people who have legacy Oculus devices.

I've been stuck in choice paralysis for a while deciding between Quest 3 or PSVR2. I think I'm leaning toward Q3 since I don't want to be tethered, but not having access to GT7 and RE4R would suck. Q3 is more appealing but RE4 and OP's game only really interest me, in addition to emulation. Still waiting on news for San Andreas VR too.

The only reason for PSVR2 is for Sony exclusives, but they've already stopped making those. Quest 3 at least gives you access to the PC library of games as well.

        Anonymous

        >but they've already stopped making those
        too early to say
it takes a while for devs to make games
and I bet barely any devs had a psvr2 headset to develop on until the thing hit stores

but hopefully we do get a new wave of vr games like when the original psvr came out

          Anonymous

They are still finishing several that they already funded, yes. What I meant is that Sony stopped funding starting new development on new PSVR2 games. And they didn't sell enough headsets for anyone not funded by Sony to want to make exclusives. So yes, there should be another small wave, but that's it.

            >Sony stopped funding starting new development on new PSVR2 games
            did they actually say this?

            >And they didn't sell enough headsets for anyone not funded by Sony to want to make exclusives.
no surprise it didn't sell much
it's still quite expensive, there's still not much for it with no push, you also need a PS5 first and they kinda screwed the hardware by cutting corners with the display
the tech feels outdated next to the Q3, even if games like horizon and gt7 are good
sony have nobody to blame but themselves
in the end palmer luckey was lucky not to sell oculus to sony, they might have killed vr altogether with a halfbaked effort

            never heard of them

I love VR, but I haven't been too impressed with Asgard's Wrath 2. It's just wish.com God of War, and relies on a lot of melee, which isn't that much fun in VR. I much prefer shooting games in VR, and stuff that involves a lot of ducking an dodging. I also tend to prefer more arcadey experiences rather than long narrative games. I've been playing a lot of Swarm lately.

asgard's wrath always seemed lame to me
if someone recreated any zelda game in vr, it would be 100x better

skyward sword would be really interesting in vr since the sword controls would work really well

      >PSVR2
we should see a bunch of PSVR2 games this year now that devs have had a year to make things, most of them should come to PC and quest as well though
psvr2 has a weird refresh rate that makes people slightly ill though, so I would recommend reading reviews to understand the issue and try it in shops so you can gauge it it's a problem for you
also psvr2 doesn't have mixed reality like Q3 and you can't do hand tracking I think

      >GT7
yeah it would suck, but you can still do asseto corza on PC

      >RE4R
isn't the VR mode for this also available on PC?

quest3 is likely to get a lot more exclusives than psvr2 since meta bought a lot of studios in the past few years, and it's still the most popular headset

I almost bought a VR headset because it was cool and I can exercise by playing games, then I remember. I don't even play a lot of games anymore.

I though the same thing and I bought one anyway. Best decision of my life, Not only did I get a new way to experience games, shooters in VR are amazing, having to use your actual aiming skills and do an actual reload of a gun while being chased or shot at is fun as frick, every single time, but It even boosted the games I play with flatscreen since I got a new appreciation for video games and how they're evolving, which led me to appreciate vidya again. Games and mods come out all the time for retro stuff to this gen, an inyector for Unreal Engine 4 and 5 came out recently that, in theory could give true VR support with motion controls and 6DOF to any game of that engine. There aren't a lot of "AAA experience" games though, so if that's what you're after, I'd say skip.
Also, It's not for everyone. Some people hate the motion controls, the fact that you have to move so much to play games or the motion sickness, but if you can get into it, it breathes new life to the hobby. I suggest borrowing a headset from a friend for a couple of weeks and see where you're at.
