Wow, I thought the effects of lack of smoke tires and rear window were hard coded and oculdn't be fixed. Crazy what you can do with cheats. I know SH1 you can get 60fps, but the snow and audio speed up x2 and it just doesn't work right.
That site also has cheats-mods for GT2. True widescreen, proper 60fps with adjusted physics for it, new camera angles, bunch of other shit.
There is a problem however with GT2 - 60fps patch breaks rally races. AI will just go bonkers at the first turn, leaving you to drive at your own leisure to the finish line. Only rally races are broken. But it truly propels GT2 into a territory where it looks and feels almost like rough prototype of GT3. People who played 2 on real hardware know how garbage the framerate is 80% of the time.
I thought this was a hack to the engine like Silent Hill, but turns out that GT actually natively supports 60fps with proper physics, just that it's not accessible in GT2. In GT1 there's a mode that allows you to race a single car in a stripped down track at 60fps. So the only reason is the weak PS hardware preventing the entire game from running 60fps.
All that code does is allow that feature from GT1 for GT2, and they add a few more codes to turn back on what they took out for performance reasons.
As far as I can remember, the AI for the rally races have always been broken. I remember letting the replay go one time and I watched a Peugeot rally car just get stuck into the first turn and just stay there the entire time. This was in 2001 so it’s definitely not just exclusive to the 60fps cheat.
are you aware proper aspect ratio is 720x480?
those extra pixels aren't shown due to the way CRT work.
normally people think >480p/i is just 640x480 which is quite wrong in reality hence games look bad when done at that resolution, same as 60 fps,it has been proven all over time that it doesn't exist and frames aren't equal to hertz. >grab PS2 pal play on crt pal TV works perfect. >same ps2 connected to a multiregion NTSC TV,it runs slower
same as developers of certain emus believing that games are made in 60 fps (not really most are made with 24 fps specially pre 2015 games)
>egg odometer
Perfection.
GT1 is best GT. Based OP
That's 2. There isn't a DTM 155 in 1.
I guess you are right? OP must be using some kind of mod/fix for HUD, non-slanted numbers made me think it was GT1.
GT1 also had non slanted numbers on the speedometer
1. They're real world cars so we have objective info on this. The HUD works great in that aspect ratio, but the cars seem scrunched.
2. GT needs a decomp and PC port badly. Proper 60fps and modern wheel supportw ould be rad.
Proper 60fps is available.

PS1 + Z-buffer = PC game!
At first I thought the reflections look kinda derpy at that resolution but then I noticed they look like shit without upscaling as well.
>GT2 with FFB support
I hope a decomp comes around soon.
what's going on here?
>duckstation widescreen hack
>aspect ratio 16:9
Wala

What a load of horse shit. No game is made for 24fps, not even pal games.
