>the new games are successful but a very vocal opinion molding minority of the fanbase wants a return to the old way
>making a game like the orignal assassin's creed while profitable takes a lot of effort
>fufill their wish (with a catch) but only reluctantly advertise it
>once the game flops everytime a 'return to the roots' is wished for by said part of the costumer base the other half and media voices will bring up the flop of Mirage
>Ubisoft is now excused of making this type of AC game
But that's just a theory...
That's not how companies work.
They don't need an "excuse" to do something. They don't give a shit about your opinion or what you want. They do what is profitable and if new games are, they will keep doing new games.
This is a result of the current ACs NOT being as profitable as before, so they scale it down and dress it up as "going back to the roots" for morons to fall for.
>This is a result of the current ACs NOT being as profitable as before
What universe are you living in where this statement is anything but blatantly false?
And how much did it cost to make?
Revenue means nothing. When someone talks about revenue exclusively, that means they are hiding something.
>Gankeredditor unironically believes a company would trhow millions and millions of dollars away purposefully making a "flop" so they have an "excuse" not to make a game anymore
Holy fricking 'tism
Disney did this with Treasure Planet
and you're a top tier moron for thinking thats even remotely the same case
Honestly, considering they have 11 AssAss games coming down the pipe line I could buy that.
They already got the sequels figured out
Ah yes, the original assassins creed with the instant teleportation kills
This is the deal breaker for me, so close yet they choose to be moronic.
>Vocal minority want the game to not suck
That's some effective bait you have, first poster.
They didn’t even go back to the old ways. You literally teleport in this new one
>New games are so sucessfull that Ubi is nearing bankruptcy
Yea bro Ubisoft just released a pile of shit un purpose, especially during a time when they can't afford to. Just so they can dunk on vanilla Assasins Creed.
its not a cutscene simulator movie game for horny morons
so of course there wont be threads about it on Ganker, or reddit.
AC fans will play it
One croissant was added to your social protection plan
one cartoon tit token was added to your gacha account
>AC fans
All 6 of them
you'd be surprised how much "autobuy" fans ac franchise has. not here of course, but it's big in gaming.
no wonder they're still making it and will continue to do so for the next 10 years.
lol
lmao even
lying israelite, not most sold copies but revenue. and of course it achieves that thanks to braindeads who buy xp boosts or mounts on a single player game
Literally day 1 buy for me, everything that I've read appeals to me
I will not play it since the direction the series has taken since syndicate has been a steady nosedive.
This is also ignoring that ubisoft seem incapable of making good video games anymore regardless of franchise.
no steam no buy
Unironically this. I'm an old man, I have no interest in using 10 different services just to play different video games because companies decide to use shitty practices and make games exclusive. I never liked that shit back in the day either when I had a console. I'd usually just pick one and play whatever ended up coming out on it. I'll just play Mirage when it comes out on Steam 2 years from now or something.
It's ass ass. Last one I played was black flag, I don't care about this series
They chased mass appeal to the detriment of the IP and the mainstream audience is fickle.
The mass appeal games actually sold well. This wont
Waiting for torrent
Good luck with Denuvo
I'll buy it for $5 once Red releases.
haven't played since AC3 disappointed me, but is it really still the fricking Templars vs the Assassins in all time periods?
https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/23981-assassins-creed-mirage
They are literally copy/pasting trophies from the old games, that is how lazy this series has become.
>When I like it it's an homage
>When I hate it it's laziness
No, copy/pasted trophies are like the onee in the new 2K where there’s a trophy for a gamemode that only existed in last years iteration and there is nothing in the game that implies it is returning. This is just a memberberry trophy
it's a done and gone franchise
should've gone ahead and made something different, like that pirate game they never fricking finished
I hope It gets cracked quick
The pirate game they never fricking inished is fricking shit
where can i buy it? can't see it on steam
We all saw the moronic magic powers they so proudly showed off and immediately lost interest.
>assassins creed
first one and 4th one were good
everything else is slop
dropping the desmond story line the way they did was the last straw for me though
dogshit convoluted too but whatever
oh but the idea of multiplayer whichever that one was looked fun but iirc it wasnt at all what we wanted
grafics are pretty nice though ill give it that
christ almighty the new level based npc system looks terrible, ever since was it the roman one? with the hot gyal protag that shit looks awful
Online multiplayer first appeared with Brotherhood and lasted until Black Flag.
The shitty RPG system was introduced with Origins.
nah i meant when we thought we were getting coop ass creed, i think it was unity or something where they introduced more weapons you could pick up
i thought for sure we were getting coop which would have been sick, not the weird ass assassin gamemode they put in
Oh. Yeah Unity introduced online Co-Op which they proceeded to drop immediately after.
why does nobody like the ezio saga on this board
i didnt really play them tbh, i just remember something about divinci and ezio being a frickboy and im pretty sure thats the like first couple hours of it and the frickboy is the very start
yeah the start is cringe but sets the tone for his personality, everything past the beginning is p gud
The only game with a narrative that actually kept me intrigued in the main story. 3 permanently destroyed the franchise and only tasteless zoomers play those shitty rpg lite sequels
They made another ass creep game. They shouldn't have.
they forgot to buy shills
Because it's another Call of Duty, FIFA, Need for Speed, NBA garbage.
Your employers have driven the series into the ground, marketeer-kun.
Go ask them.
It's an Ubisoft game. You know what went wrong.
Cant wait to kill 50 deers to craft a pouch that allow me to carry 1 extra knife
god fricking damn its the shittiest direction we could have gone
beyond multi player games all having battle passes and seasons now, crafting in games is just moronic and takes too long for no reason
minecraft got it right with basic stuff is easy to make and will get the job done, but eventually you will get better stuff
i dont really know what i want but it sure as shit isnt using an unreasonable amount of resources for what ends up being a pouch
No game requires you to get 50 of anything moron.
Stop replying to hyperboling morons who make shit out of their ass with your own hyperbole.
>No game requires you to get 50 of anything moron.
Yes dipshit, that 50 is superficial and bloated.
You aren't going out and doing 50 instances of farming, you go out 23 times and get 20+ things in one go.
50 or 5 ior 500 s literally the same, if everything else scales up or down accordingly.
Anon said
>kill 50 deers
not
>50 instances of farming
or whatever fanfic you've in your head.
I don't care if it's hunting animals, gathering feathers, chasing almanac pages, capturing sea shanties, collecting codex pages...
Games in general are filled with "get X of something" and you saying that is not the case is the reason why I'm ridiculing you.
>killing 50 deers is not 50 instances of farming
Also you never need to kill 50 deers unless it's some chinkshit or asiatic gachashit, you disingenuous frick.
Of course then you'd defend it.
>you never need to kill 50 deers unless it's some chinkshit or asiatic gachashit, you disingenuous frick.
Is that so? Let's take a look on another well-know title...

Total 100x skinned animals.

Now frick off, moron. I'm done educating your underage ass.
>100 skins to make literally everything in the game
>original talk was about 50 skins to make one thing
keep moving the goalpost and failing miserably at it, moron.
>he thinks gathering 100x skins is fine if it's for everything
That's the difference between you and me.
I don't care if it's for one pouch for +1 knife or the whole gear.
I consider both cases bloated.
Ok, but nobody asked for your opinion, I was shitting on the hyperboling moron which you inadvertently proved wrong with your post as well.

Accept that you were wrong and that there are non-gacha, chinese, korean or whatever other excuse you make-games where they ask you for a shit ton of resources to craft on shit.
No I wasn't wrong.
The implication was clearly that he didn't want to "farm" for a long time to get 50 things.
if a single fight gets you 50 materials, you only farm once. And according to
it's exactly the case.
>applies an ingame reward for a specific mission to an arbitrary number of resources to craft some hypothetical item
Okay, you're a genuine moron.
No more (You)s for you.
No it isn't because the amount of materials itself increases in relation as well. So you don't get 1 thing but 50 instead but if you need 500 instead of 10 it doesn't change anything.
Why and how did that shitty shit ever creep its way into so many games? It's never been entertaining ever.
minecraft and zombie games during their peak popularized crafting
it got even worse when mobile games caught on to it and decided to monetize the shit out of the mechanic, giving 3A devs incentive to do the same
>hunting
lmao
You'll receive 27 planks, 865 stones, and 10 ropes through a popup after you complete a mission.

No you won't. You'll screech and howl impotently like the good little b***h that you are.
Based frenchies absolutely scamming these morons lmao
I watched a gameplay vid and clicked off after seeing the combat where he fights a "heavy".
ubisoft
Ubisoft is too woke now.
It needs more gay sex, troony waifus and Tencent shilling.
Newsflash gays, AC was never good.
You just pretended it was good because that was the cool thing to do at the time. Now the cool thing is to pretend like it isn't., so you do.
Literally nothing have changed and AC1 and yes even AC2 with all the "muh Ezio" shit would be completely shat on if it came out at the exact same state today.
ac1 was frickin sick and the evolution of the parkour system was nice to see
its just that they didnt do anything with the rest of the game, in a way they couldn't, but it would have been nice to get a hitman game with parkour instead of what we have ultimately ended up with
Hating AC has been the "cool thing to do" since at least ACIII you idiot, did you forget how hated Ubisoft and AC was back in 2014 when they released TWO games in the same year, one for last gen and one for new gen? Maximum scumminess. III was disliked for its downgraded gameplay and Connor's stoicism clashing with three games worth of Ezio plus Desmond's death, Unity was disliked for its buginess, Rogue was forgotten, Syndicate was disliked because it was the single least inspired game yet with a Saturday morning cartoon narrative, normies fell for Origins because "muh Witcher", Odyssey was a walking controversy after controversy from dialogue choices to canon protagonists to Darius being an Assassin pre-Bayek to forcing you into a straight relationship in the DLC; and no one fricking cared about Valhalla as it was Odyssey again but triple as long and with snow.
Assassin's Creed was wholly unique in its presentation and execution, and that arguably went down the drain as soon as ACII. The franchise peaking with its first entry is so fricking sad.
>forcing you into a straight relationship in the DLC
>controversy
do trannies really?
Who else do you think played Odyssey? Because it sure as frick wasn't fans of the classic games. Same reason Ubisoft pandered to Kassandra so hard like BioWare does with FemShep or CDPR does with female V. Point being Odyssey had controveries from the second it was announced, to the months before release, all the way up to its last DLC.
>caring what game jornos say
>caring about what women say
>caring about what women game jornos say
Ubisoft sure cared, yes
Ok, are you ubisoft?
Did you somehow miss how this discussion started?
>They probably did it for the marketing
You're giving Ubisoft -fricking Ubisoft- way too much credit. Their games are unfinished jigsaw puzzles worked on by 15 different teams. They just never thought about the fact the base game let's you frick anyone as either character, then people got surprised when an IP based entirely on genetic ancestry ends with the protagonist having a lineage because that clearly never happened with every single previous protagonist.
>IP based entirely on genetic ancestry
This hasn't been true for years, the Animus in the last several games reads memories straight from a DNA sample, not from a descendant
All previous protagonists had confirmed children even if direct lineage hasn't mattered for the Modern Day since Desmond. Arno's descendant is the protagonist of the movie, Shay inducted his kids into the Templars, you play as Jacob's granddaughter in WW1, and obviously Khemu being a thing. Again, expecting Alexios to canonically suck dick was moronic and Ubisoft leaving that door open and biting them in the ass was hilarious, ESPECIALLY in the one game that throws Animus lore out the window by adding dialogue choices in what's supposed to be a linear genetic memory sequence.
None of that means anything. I could not care less about whether or not the protagonist is gay, but you're acting like there's some structural reason why that can't happen in the game, and that's just not true
Occam's razor, biatch
I don't think you know what that means
Sounds like a (You) issue
They probably did it for the marketing. Any time the brand is mentioned it's a good thing because it drives community engagement and the truth is, nobody really gives a shit.
Can't wait for the circleback when companies will include sexy women in skimpy clothes to manufacture "controversy" and raise engagement.
>They probably did it for the marketing.
This anon gets it.
>Any time the brand is mentioned it's a good thing because it drives community engagement
Tell that to Gillette.
Tell that to their stonk price
tbh i think there wouldn't have been half as much complaining if they guy in the dlc hadn't been a boring nothing of a character. should've had her get knocked up by alcibiades.
>guy
its a women you moron
Troons live on the internet cause IRL they are mocked and nobody takes them seriously in the streets.
Good morning, you bloody bastard.
Looks like shit. I remember back in the day the AC fighting system looked amazing. I think they dropped it after unity or syndicate.
Unity was a big change for the combat since it outright visualized enemy heath and removed instant kill counters and chain kills in favor of compared weapon damage to enemy health, things that had been staples since the first and third games.
I don't think it was a good change since combat in AC was never "good" or mechanically amazing, it was there to look cool while stabbing people in the neck and nothing more which it did a well enough job of.
Combat got another major overhaul with Origins which changed it from a loose semi-lock on thing for groups to a single target lock-on system. A blatant attempt at following Souls if we're being honest.
>I don't think it was a good change since combat in AC was never "good" or mechanically amazing, it was there to look cool while stabbing people in the neck and nothing more which it did a well enough job of.
Agreed. I don't care for the babys first souls game combat.
I can see why they did it since really the combat was fundamentally the same as AC1 all the way up until rogue and even Unity still had the majority of it's fights play the same, if a little shittier IMO since everything was slower.
Doubling down on the RPG stuff, especially for combat was not needed, what I think was needed was they seriously needed to step back and fix whatever the hell went wrong when it came to pairing up models for animations. Ever since unity there's been extremely bad snapping and "hitching" for lack of better word for when two character get into position to play out the little animations.
Valhalla is the worst for this, there's always this little hop or shuffle you do before you move into a stab or finisher and it looks like fricking shit.
Wait you are telling me they kept the combat from Valhalla? Pass,
Give me back my "press traingle to win" instead o this fricking trash
We've come full circle now. Now people WANT the "press x to win" back. I kinda get what you're saying tho
Combat is still 'Press X to win', but at least it actually looked nice with the old paired animation system
Ass creed should've gone full stealth game, so yes, press X to win, but if you're overwhelmed you should instantly get beaten with no chance to win, instead of enemies queuing to get slashed.
Not being spotted should be at the core of the game. Instead we have a tepid compromise between stealth and action because AAA devs can't fricking decide what they want and want to please everyone
The stealth has always been fricking terrible. 0 IQ AI enemies, no light system, tedious climbing. It was boring. This shit ain't Splinter Cell
>Ass creed should've gone full stealth game,
nah thats boring and stealth is hard to do well
kicking enemies off buildings never gets old though
moron.
true but it's fun
ngl, I hate this game with a passion, but it has its moments.
>I hate this game with a passion
dont be a primadonna. i didnt finish the game eihter but it's inoffensive. the random ships filling the waterways was a nice aesthetic
I hate Odyssey ship combat, but you're making wanna sail through thunderstorms with an all female crew for some reason.
It really looks just like Valhalla
In fairness, Jorraptor is so fricking bad at AC games despite his channel - he always makes the gameplay look bad
back to the roots my fricking ass
its an expansion for valhalla
because it looked sick
if they cant make a fun combat system atleast make it look cool
now its not fun AND looks like shit
honestly they really should fix the animations, it looks so unnatural to have them zip around like that.
Why do low-IQ monkeys always confuse the Middle East with India?
same reason why they’re all asians from the middle east.
It was referring to the people developing the game you absolute dolt
this doesn't look anything like "classic AC". the platforming has looked somewhat classic in some of the footage that was shown months ago. but the stealth teleport shit and this combat system are absolute dealbreakers. UNLESS it turns out that there's a combo kill ability.
I don't think there is. I've done one shot parry kills and the skill tree has a counter roll to get behind armored fricks but I think that's it.
when can I pirate it, haven't played AC since 4 and the series peaked in its fricking 2nd entry
>IGN: 8/10
>Current Meta Score: 77/100
Wait 4-6 months when its half the price.
>Current Meta Score: 77/100
real? if so that's pretty low even for assasslop
it's officially the biggest flop in the history of video games
also Gamespot gave it 6/10. Damn.
https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/assassins-creed-mirage-review-back-to-basics/1900-6418126/?ftag=CAD-01-10abi2f
AC1 was a good concept and first entry in the franchise.
AC2 was a decent story-driven game.
ACBH and ACRev would've been fine if they were just released as DLC for AC2 as originally planned.
AC3 was shit in every aspect.
AC4BF is one of the best video games of all time.
ACU is overrated trash and is where the series began to go down the shitter.
ACS was their chance to redeem themselves but just ended up being the final nail in the coffin.
ACOr was their chance to finally do something unique with the franchise but just ended up half-arsing it in typical Ubishit fashion by shoehorning RPG mechanics, empty open worlds and knock-off souls combat.
ACOdd was shit in every aspect but it also doesn't have any of the appeal that AC3 had, that being that it is an actual Assassin's Creed game. Literally the worst game in the franchise and I will die on that hill.
ACV was when they should've dialled down everything people hated about the last two entries but instead they doubled down on it instead.
ACM is israelitebisoft desperately looking for redemption from NPCs through dishonest marketing and lying.
Black flag sucks
Ezio trilogy is the only worthwhile thing in this entire snoozefest
Only thing anyone remembers about it is the opening sequence and the Ezio theme.
>Only thing anyone remembers about it is the opening sequence and the Ezio theme.
Hello, zoomer.
I'm 33
It shows given your shitty memory.
Sorry I'm not a nostalgia gay like you.
What next? Pretending like AC3 was good beyond the reveal you played as a templar?
>remembering events of the game and important narrative moments is about nostalgia
?
I can't remember anything from those games man. I played that shot a decade ago. Please tell me you had more than videogames going on back then.
I've played hundreds of games since 2009.
Guess none of the events left this much of an impression.
At least I remember being impressed by Acre and jerusalem in the first game.
Obviously any of us who actually played it back when it came out are in our 30's.
"It's me, Mario"
i remember the combat is just press counter to win
They've never topped AC2, your wrong opinion is unappreciated.
Absolutely Correct, I kneel.
>ACV was when they should've dialled down everything people hated about the last two entries but instead they doubled down on it instead.
The thing I absolutely hate about it is that it's somehow the most earning AC game of all (ubi's words)
I really dislike this and I can only imagine them going back to that system sooner rather than later
>going back to it
They never left it. Mirage is more Vallhalla despite all their claims of returning to their roots.
yeah I imagine that that to be true, I only watched a gameplay clip where the dude is literally teleporting in stealth to kill 3/4 guards and it was just more valhalla
I am curious to see if it is actually just marketing lies or the truth that they're going back
I'll probably buy it tomorrow, but there's not much to talk about. They decided to turn Valhalla DLC into a full game, and are trying to cash in on nostalgia from the original.
>ubisoft will die in your lifetime
not sure how i feel
>OMG GUYS WHY ARE YOU NOT HYPED FOR THE NEXT ASS CREED GAME?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Are you also surprised that people don't post here about the latest release of Fifa and Football Manager?
Whats the best AC games to play? I own all of them except Mirage but I only completed AC 1 and 2.
Black Flag.
4 is really good
4 is good because it's the least AC-like AC game
>it's the least AC-like AC game
lol
lmao even
The non dlc main game is still Ass Creed.
Black Flag didn't even care about you being an assassin that much.
>Black Flag didn't even care about you being an assassin that much
Replay the game for the first time in a decade if you honestly believe that. Black Flag is more of an AC than 3 Rogue or Syndicate nevermind the RPG ones. All AC games have mechanics directly tied to the historical setting they take place in (traveling between kingdoms in the Holy Land of AC1, claiming war forts in the American Revolution of AC3). Black Flag’s is obviously an open world mostly covered with ocean and the focus on boarding other ships, with some mistakenly believing it's the only thing the game offers you. Game opens with the introduction of Duncan, an Assassin. Few minutes later Edward learns of the Templars and the next few missions involve meeting with and working for them. Then he starts searching for the Sage & Observatory, soon after dealing with du Casse and meeting the Assassins firsthand. The meeting with the Governor? He’s the Templar Grandmaster and puts you on the Sage’s trail once more which besides giving you more interactions with Mary as an Assassin in time leads Edward to meet Roberts face to face and enter the Observatory. Along the way Assassin Contracts tied to one faction, the Templar Armor tied to the other. The Mayan stones? They give you access to a suit of armor made out of First Civilization material. You can’t escape it, most everything is tied to the central conflict between Orders and if nothing else it’s the pirate stuff that’s the set dressing once Edward realizes he fricked up and wasted several years of his life and the lives of his friends ignoring the real issues. Which is why he joins the Assassins at the end of his character arc.
>mission at the very beginning of the game when Edward is an butthole is called Nothing Is True
>mission at the very end of the game when Edward reaches the crux of his character arc is called Everything Is Permitted
Edward has the best Creed-related character arc since Altaïr, don't miss the forest for the trees
You're omitting that for the vast majority of the game Edward is not aligned with the Templars or Assassins and is essentially a opportunistic third party.
But I did not
>"...if nothing else it’s the pirate stuff that’s the set dressing once Edward realizes he fricked up and wasted several years of his life and the lives of his friends ignoring the real issues. Which is why he joins the Assassins at the end of his character arc."
Altaïr, Ezio and Connor were all connected to the brotherhood from the get go. Altaïr being born into it, Ezio as well although getting an abrupt wake up call with the death of his family, then Connor being forced into it due to Haytham on one hand and Juno on the other. Edward was the first protagonist in the franchise that had absolutely *nothing* to do with the conflict, his family wasn't a part of the conflict and he just so happened to stumble into it due to his personal greed. That made his journey a more personal one, and his final decision to do good and become an Assassin a bigger deal.
Now read the sequel to Black Flag where the humbled and more capable Edward sails the seas
>oh hey remember that one time Edward left the West Indies for months at a time to go sail the Chinese Sea and use katanas and shit?
No Ubisoft, I don't remember that
>We want nuGoW audience!!!
Someone finally needs to unplug Ubisoft from life support.
yes TECHNICALLY you're right
but anyone with functioning braincells knows that the nu-AC (after origins) barely classify as AC games and are just another dark souls rip-off
>Odd
>Origins
>Assassins creed is about dodging attacks from giant monster
Lmao go frick yourself zoomer
???
This actually looks cool
I’ve never played an Ass Creed game
don't worry, they all feel like shit to actually play
1 is more or less a proof-of-concept stealth-lite game with parkour
2, Brotherhood, Revelations, and 3 are "Classic Assassin's Creed". Stealth-action games with semi-open urban settings and a fun conspiracy-thriller plot. 2 is the best of the bunch, the rest are kind of hit or miss
Black Flag is almost kind of a spin-off with an open-word pirate focus. It's very fun and one of the most popular. Rogue is more of the same—kind of underrated, with a more interesting narrative than most
Unity and Syndicate are urban open worlds. The formula started to get a little stale here, and this is where microtransactions start to creep into the games. The overarching plot has been almost completely dropped by this point.
Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla are a soft reboot. They're essentially fantasy RPGs in a historical setting. Actual magic and mythological monsters exist, and stealth has been largely sidelined in favor of action combat more in the vein of The Witcher III. The maps are much larger and much more rural.
The new one, Mirage, is being billed as a smaller game that is supposed to be more like the first one (but maybe not)
3 is nothing like 2, Brotherhood and Revelations. Unity is actually way closer to them. 3 is an odd one, and probably the worst AC game with Syndicate. Its main problem was: American cities are shit.
Eh, it still had the Desmond plot and the zone-based maps. I agree it's a bit of an odd duck
American cities in the 18th century was a really weird pick, yeah. Philly only had a population of 30000 at the time. I still think a more modern AC could be interesting, but they'll never do it
Syndicate's massively underrated tbh
Has great killboxes and keeps the combat interesting by splitting it away from the assassin character
it's the worst mainline AC
nah 1 and 3 are way worse and just have contrarian nostalgia now
>contrarian nostalgia
Or maybe you have bad taste
>nah 1 and 3 are way worse
are you 10 or something
>Has great killboxes and keeps the combat interesting
at least Origins gave the excuse that the supernatural bosses were Bayek's fears manifesting as animus glitches
Odyssey and to some extent Valhalla just straight up tell you everything actually happened, including the unlockable super powers which is insulting
Black Flag and maybe Origin just because the setting is great.
2, Brotherhood, and Unity are my favorites. I never liked Black Flag, because it's was too "wide". Never liked the naval battles and travelling on the sea for hours.
To nuance a bit, black flag is not that good. It gets praised because of the ship but like all ass creed it gets repetitive very fast.
I got bored of the formula with revelations and they beat the same dead horse since then
>I got bored of the formula with revelations
so you didnt get bored from blackflag ok
> 4
> Rev
> Brotherhood
Play AC 1 - 3 then stop.
I actually liked unity and black flag. The rest are pretty shite. Odyssey is good but it has nothing to do with the other games or about Assassin or Templars.
1-Brotherhood, Black Flag and Origins are the ones to play first, after that you've got Unity, Rogue, Syndicate, 3 and Rev at the end. I'm not even gonna bother with Odyssey and Valhalla since they're barely AC games.
Were you hit on the head as a child?
Not that I can recall, why do you ask?
2, Brotherhood and Unity
Ezio trilogy and Black Flag are peak AC. Unity and Origins are good also.
WHO GIVES A FRICK ABOUT ASSASSIN’S CREED ANYMORE? FRICK OFF!
I like to get fricking ripped and walk around the cities
It's 1/3 the game for 70% the price, and somehow they had to take two years off to make it
if you played the last 2 games then it being a 1/3 of the length is a fricking blessing.
The only good Ass Creed game was Black Flag and it was good despite being an Ass Creed game.
i miss ac multiplayer
Its 49,99 right?
Video from jackfrags looks great honestly
Yes. 39,99 if you play on PC and use your goycoin.
Even btter great

WHY?????
framerate looks....not good at all like sub 30
Are you stupid?
great post anon wow i have nothing to say against that
fricking moronic frick
Says the moron who's never seen what sub 30 frames looks like.
it's literally in the video open your fricking eyes
and stop gargling on a pack of dicks
jesus
What's in the video?
complete utter moron have a nice day now
Get your eyes checked moron.
gouge your eyes out, moron
concession accepted lmao.
Show me the fps counter of frick off, Black person.
Shut the frick up You're just in this thread to troll frick off now.
it's a 60fps video and the framerate definitely never touched 30 (from above). in fact I didn't notice any dips and I'm usually sensitive to framerate. why not complain about something real, like the moronic "all enemies have their backs turned until story reasons require you to get caught so an alert is pulled by an unavoidable trigger" fake stealth gameplay?
Every AC game after syndicate has been decent
Ever since they added health bars and the whole damage over time battle system with points each hit in origins, I haven’t bought another Assassins creed. I played the first one and the 3rd one and they were so freaking good. Now it’s clearly just a copy and paste money machine. They don’t care anymore, I would say typical Ubisoft but that’s most companies nowadays. Very sad to see such a good story taken down this path.
>I played the first one and the 3rd one and they were so freaking good.
You literally skipped the best ones.
Is this a mobile game
They ported it to iPhone 15 as a gimmick. So yeah it is actually.
I have seen mobile games that look nicer than this.
>game runs 30fps or 60fps on pc
Why the FRICK are we ok with 60 fps
Why the frick are you not?
We are in this shitty fricking situation of fake frames and upscaling because you morons fell for the 4lk 144hz meme, when 1080p 60fps is perfectly fine.
>when 1080p 60fps is perfectly fine.
Troll somewhere else
Be a brainwashed consoomer somewhere else.
Not once have you talked about the game get, the frick, out of this thread
>stop interfering with my marketing.
>mfw I really liked Origins and Odyssey
origins was good odyssey was bad
I've played all of the games since the original came out, and Odyssey in particular is one of my favorites. Never really understood why the new style makes people so butthurt. Also very strange that they would market the new game as a spiritual follow-up to the first game instead of 2 or Brotherhood which people liked a lot more
i have a feeling the only reason i got into oddysey(never finished it tho) is cause i played it maxed out on a 4k screen. I gave it a shot on the goybox before that and the game is pretty boring without any eye candy.
I can see it. I play at 1080p and when I played Valhalla at my brothers place on a 4K TV I was blown away by ordinary things like how the brick walls of the houses look. Never felt that way about the game playing on my setup. You just can't see the detail in the texture work on a 1080 screen even when using Ultra settings. 4k is not a meme, everybody who says otherwise is full of shit.
yeah i was a 4k skeptic too. Then i got a 4k tv cause my old one went bust and just tried running games on it. Then i became a believer
>4k skeptic
zoomer children are so moronic
>zoomers
>skeptics regarding 4k
you're an actual moron
Didn't read still playing at 720pn
>Never really understood why the new style makes people so butthurt.
Because in Odyssey's case it locks you into specific playstyles when the series has always been about having every option at your disposal.
Because Kass and Eivor have both wielded more Pieces of Eden than any character in the entire series with Eivor even owning more at one time than any other person yet no one has any idea who either of them are just because there need to be rewards for the player.
Because dialogue choices should NEVER be a part of Assassin's Creed. It makes zero sense how living through memories can be influenced by a viewer, and the devs have to throw out a novel just so people know what choices that character made just so you understand.
Because the stories are a complete mess due to how there's three parts in Odyssey and Valhalla and they make it impossible to understand what Kass or Eivor's character actually is. It also doesn't help that these characters flip flop not only on their religions, but their own moralistic beliefs at a moment's notice.
Because we went from having condensed maps that have their own sections and well designed towns to giant worlds that they themselves have shown they have to procgen just to keep up with the size of it.
Because we've lost interesting assassinations and characters due to the size of the map and loss of focus on assassinations. The worst part of it is we don't have blending in or giant groups anymore because they have to give us giant maps.
Odyssey is one of the worst AC games out there, Valhalla is right there with it, and Origins is only saved because it at least tries to be an AC game regularly with the RPG elements being pointless. Jade is looking to be Odyssey 2.0 so it's garbage before it has even come out and Red is looking like it's gonna be Valhalla 2.0 from what they've told us.
I hated Origins/Odyssey but on the point of dialogue options I think the pretty obvious rationale for dialogue options is this: If the player chooses (choice 1), then (choice 1) is what happened in the past; if the player chooses (choice 2), then (choice 2) is what happened in the past. Whatever you choose is what happened.
That being said, I don't think that Assassin's Creed needs all the bullshit RPG elements and I hate that every action/combat game is using souls-like combat.
>If the player chooses (choice 1), then (choice 1) is what happened in the past; if the player chooses (choice 2), then (choice 2) is what happened in the past. Whatever you choose is what happened.
But they're not. The canon events of Odyssey are in the novel which includes Kass siding with Aspasia. Valhalla I don't think we know on. Your choices do not matter.
Ah, I wasn't aware that there was a novel.
Who cares, though? The game is its own thing. Nobody gives a shit about the novels
You have to care going forward, because it's what they call back to. I mean hell, Edward's death is only known because of Project Legacy and you're expected to have read it to understand how Haytham happened outside of Forspoken.
None of those details matter at all to the games, which is the only thing people actually care about. Like, they're free to include whatever they want in the supplemental stuff, but no amount of that is going to make the audience give a shit. To the extent that the games may or may not contradict the books, that's entirely a problem for the books to deal with
>None of those details matter at all to the games, which is the only thing people actually care about.
But that's the thing, they do.
>Forsaken is part of AC3's story to explain certain events surrounding Haytham which Rogue itself mentions.
>The Fall is part of the story of Chronicles: Russia and without its context the story doesn't flow as well, same deal with Arbaaz's comic and Chronicles: India.
>Chronicles: China expects you to have watched Embers even if it pretends stuff Ezio told Shao Jun didn't happen.
>Revelations expects you to have played Bloodlines.
>The entire Juno storyline is told in a comic and if you missed it then the entire modern day story just ignored everything that happened.
>The Movie is required for you to keep up with what is currently happening to the Modern Day Templars.
>You had to read an entire comic plotline to understand why Layla went from threatening William to having an entire group following her commands or else everything in Odyssey is extremely confusing in Modern Day.
>Odyssey's entire story is only found in the novel as it's the only concrete way to know what choices were made, anything in the games you did didn't happen and they don't read your saves.
Ubisoft themselves also consider the novels and comics part of their main strategy to keep people in their ecosystem which is why they constantly jump past major story beats without explaining them in the games and expect you to have read their stuff.
>but the only enemies that you ever had any incentive to kill were immune to stealth kills entirely, so why bother?
Stealth kills give you 1.5x more EXP so it is always better to kill enemies in stealth than not.
>Immune to stealth kills.
What? Did you play without one-shots turned on for some insane reason? Everyone can be one-shot. High tier enemies give you 75 EXP if you stealth kill them instead of 50 meaning two kills is equal to killing three high tier guys.
I'd assume he means bosses you're forced into open combat with
Ah, you're right. I believe you could only do a % of their health or something like that.
>I don't care about optimizing exp at all. I do all of the objectives, so I always end up overleveled anyway
Which is fair, I'm just saying that they do end up giving you an incentive which is effectively massive amounts of EXP for mastery points, but in Valhalla those are worth way less than in Odyssey.
You can't one-shot boss enemies or the roaming knight guys, who are the only enemies you're actually incentivized to kill. There's no point to killing random mooks most of the time. They removed the "clear this outpost" missions, and all of the objectives are like "loot this chest" or "reach this location", which is easier to do by just ignoring the enemies, who are slower than you and shit at ranged attacks. Almost 100% of the normal enemies you actually have to kill are spawned in a situation where you're already detected and can't do stealth.
I don't care about optimizing exp at all. I do all of the objectives, so I always end up overleveled anyway
there is a "assassinations oneshot" setting for all the morons who want to take the game out of the videogame ever since valhalla
I don't want to take a game designed for action combat and skip the combat. I want to play a stealth game
Again, you're listing off details that connect to the narrative, but nothing that anyone who plays the games and only the games (99% of the audience) cares about. Maybe the one exception was killing off the evil AI in a comic book, but that was widely regarded as a huge blunder that just pissed people off
Those aren't what connect the narrative though.
Embers is for main characterization for Shao Jun.
Forsaken is for all of Haytham's crazy actions in Rogue because he acts nothing like that in 3 and Rogue doesn't establish why he would act like that. Unless you're just gonna be fine with Haytham acting like a nutjob in the interim between 3's intro and before Connor is born in 3 in Rogue.
The Fall is pretty much all of Nikolai's character development and following along with Chronicles: Russia doesn't explain who he is at all or why people believe in him. Arbaaz matters less since Chronicles: India at least tries to do something within the game.
If you are trying to keep up with Modern Day then playing the games only you're gonna be thrown all over the place with Odyssey suddenly introducing multiple new people who are Layla's friends including the Japanese Brotherhood suddenly being super important to her and her having a Templar defector as a friend out of nowhere.
The entire Maria bit in Revelations taken at face value means you are now left with a question of why Altair banged a Templar that never gets resolved in any future game or the game itself, only Bloodlines.
Valhalla already ignores everything you did if you played Alexios.
Can anybody tell me what's this new normalgay meme with Doug?
>they would market the new game as a spiritual follow-up to the first game
Mirage is a Valhalla DLC expanded into a standalone game and Basim fits well into AC1's setting, that's why.
>Can anybody tell me what's this new normalgay meme with Doug?
Doug looks stupid and smug - you do something that is politically incorrect but no one hates you coz you look like doug
Afaik the dude doesn't have any movies or media coming out ppl just latched onto this moronic looking photo
Desert and Pyramids was kino
me too anon, me too.
typical ubislop, but i liked exploring the world.
didnt feel the same with vikings.

more like 80 hours
>A ubisoft original
>An assassin's creed story
Is this on the ubisoft plus thing on xbox? Might sub for 1 month to play it if its there today.
Is this a spinoff? I thought next mainline game was the Japanese one with the Black?
I got Ubisoft plus to play it, need me a AC game to play, not like there's anything good that came out this year.
Well that was a waste of money. I subbed to ubisoft plus on xbox and its not there. Its only on the pc version of ubisoft plus
You need to swap to japan region, you can download the game there and play it using a VPN. Im currently downloading using a VPN now because the game doesnt officially come out until tomorrow.
but i never need to use vpn on xbox before. I played re4 remake early by just swapping region
No steam is as good as no release.
These Black folk pull teleportation assassination and expect me to take this seriously as a mainline entry
Frick em
There's probably a 100 wrong things with it, but I haven't even bother looking beyond the literal "forced soul" moment with the filter they had going on.Also balantly copying Altair and Ezio's poses, jesus
If I wanted pajeets I could just drive to Toronto in 30 mins. Frick pajeets.
Is it our yet in the appropriate time zones? Ubisoft is so dumb, you can play their games a day early if you VPN yourself to Australia
I switched on xbox and I cant play
>"back to roots" automatic redflag
>"nothing personnel" attacks
>I'm not going to lie. I'm going to take a look at it because at least the programmers released it for PS4. And the assassin looks like Jesus Christ. I call this AC...Assassin Christ.
I got it, will play tomorrow.
I've played all the mainline AC titles. I play them mostly as a form of escapism because the worlds are usually very well done. I live in a cold as frick country and going to Italy or Greece on a whim is unfortunately not an option for me.
The only game whose world was kinda boring, aside from the original AC, was Valhalla, but they fixed that with Asgard expansions and the story itself was surprisingly decent. To the point that Basim got his own game.
same, i need the escapism so badly.
I'm never touching anything that requires ubisoft connect ever again.
I'll play it if it gets cracked but don't expect me to buy another game from your masters, shill.
Its up on xbox in NZ if you actually bought the game but not up on Ubi+. Ubi+ version probably wont be up till midnight your local time.
Do I need a NZ account or do I only have to change the console region?
you just go into location and change it to NZ and restart the console
Thanks. Didn't know it was that easy.

ShillUp review
>ShillUp says it's shit
Pack it up boys it's over
Just watched the video at 2x speed. Mirage is obviously fricking garbage but it sure as frick isn't for the reasons he brings up (or rather those he doesn't)
>no mention at fricking all about the teleporting ability
>no mention of what is or isn't part of the parkour, just says "Basim feels fast lel"
>no mention of the tools and their upgrades
>says that the method of investigating and striking at your targets taken straight from AC1 is bad
>states Origins and Odyssey have his favorite narratives in the series
I could only make it 5 minutes in so I commend you for toughing it out even at 2x speed. He sounds like a moronic shitter from that list.
I don't care, will keep playing fallout 4.
>What went so, so terribly wrong?
Releasing a new game every year for a decade so people got burned out on the series, leaving only hardcore fans I'd reckon
so if the release is in a few hours and this thread was made 5 hours ago it must be out right?
60fps on pc max
sixty
no uncapped framerate
no
its fricking 60fps
60fps is perfectly fine for single player games
kek no it is not
not in 2023
it was in 2015 maybe
>60fps is perfectly fine for single player games
No, I will not buy your 1500$ GPU, shill.
I am like 90% sure I read it has uncapped fps earlier today
im gonna try it out with uplay + i hope it has
Is the North Atlantic really as beautiful as Rogue makes it out to be?
Maybe it was, 270 years ago
Search for some images and decide yourself
Read up on the Hudson River School and their paintings.
I'm sure the funnest thing I had with AC sereies was running throught the entire city wide with guards chasing where you PARKOUR your way thought maze of buildings
Origins was cool as a refresh
Then odyssey shat on that (see shields) and put in 20 insta kill skills
Valhalla is just shit
IT'S JOEVER
>likes GoW, Watch Dogs Legion, Black person-Man, TotK, etc.
I wouldn't trust this guy
>One shot parries are back
>We will never ever get a game where Desmond becomes a modern day master assassin who takes on the Templars because israelitebisoft got greedy
>someone modded Altaïr's outfit into Watch_Dogs and Desmond's model into games like Black Flag
>no one has modded Desmond's model into Watch_Dogs for us to roleplay it as a modern day AC yet
Why the frick
>copy Unity's gameplay
>different setting
>actual good story
>without major and game-breaking bugs
It's literally all they had to do, how fricking hard is it??
Instead they copy Valhalla's shitty combat and movement and let you 1 shot every enemy with the hidden blade, wrote a shitty story for it and called it a day.
Fricking morons...
Unity has shitty movement too
Unity has the best movement because its le monke man
Asscreed has always been terrible. Why the frick would you "return to its roots" when the roots were always boring garbage
I hope when it gets pirated the Uplay rewards are added as part of the crack, sometimes they are sometimes they're not and frick me if I'm to play this game without Altaïr's robes
Holy frick I'm definitely equipping Basim valhalla costume
Are these fricking marketing posts? What the actual frick?
Yes, a marketing post that talks about pirating the game you colossal fricking inbred
why would you pirate an AC game? Especially this one that looks terrible? are you fricking stupid? Play literally anything else
They're not treated as DLCs anymore so no. You'll have to cheat engine them in.
Is that how it used to be? I remember every pirated AC up to Black Flag featured the Uplay unlockables then in Rogue pic related was locked no matter the crack I found, same with Unity's handful of locked Uplay gear and such. A shame.
I'll accept the concession.
Ubisoft Plus version is not out till midnight EU time.
when you see Ganker praise asscreed slop and defend asscreed to death but shit on any legitimately good game with any any passion or soul in it, you know this shithole needs a purge and all the zoomers or millenials with shit taste should be permanently banned on this board
its bad enough with all these AI threads
>Wanted level that lowers by ripping down posters
>Towers have basic platforming
Huh, good for them for at least trying I guess.
It's releasing today?
It's already out here down under so I'm assuming it'll be out whenever it's Midnight in the US.
Both Call of Duty and AC are equally soulless annual releases, but for some reason the masses keep buying CoD but stopped buying AC
They haven't changed CoD, well, they tried to, but it flopped and they learned their lesson while Ubisoft has been fricking around with AC for the past decade.
Dead franchise
>What went so, so terribly wrong?
I'm not playing it right now.
>game development is too expensive we need to raise prices
>why?
>it just is and it can't be helped
did u quote the wrong post?
Nope, just reading the text in the image. Extraneous shit like that is part of the problem.
ehh not really, photogrammetry is affordable even for indie devs. all u need is a decent dslr and a ring light, the rest is tooling and labor. sniper elite 5 is made almost entirely out of pg assets. devs do it because they love authenticity, and for historic recreations nothing comes close.
>Our completely self inflicted game development costs are too high we need to raise prices
Fixed for accuracy.
>ubislop
so?? is the FPS uncapped or not on pc
Yes
swear on yurs mum laif
I swear that it might be but I'm not 100% sure.
Pretty sure it is but you could always Google it.
https://gprivate.com/671na
Ubislop games are the most worthless forgettable trash in the industry. Even if you genuinely love corporate slop, there is no reason not to wait a single month to get it for a significant discount. Ubi's retail prices fall so fricking fast
Origins-Valhalla combat would be totally fine if a) attacks from stealth were always one-hit kills, and b) stealth was a viable way to actually play the game. The "claimed" to have fixed stealth in Valhalla, but the only enemies that you ever had any incentive to kill were immune to stealth kills entirely, so why bother?
My first Assassin's Creed game ever was Odyssey, and I absolutely adored it, I 100% that shit, which I never do. I then went back and played Origins, which I enjoyed a lot as well. I was skeptical about Valhalla because that's not a setting I tend to enjoy, but I ended up having fun with that as well. It did drag on for far too long though. I put 250 hours in to it and still never finished every bit of content available. That's a bit excessive. I'm always surprised to see people say they dislike those games, but I guess I can understand if you played the earlier games and didn't like the change in direction. I would have been more than happy to see them continue with that style though.
Yeah I think the current formula is a really competent implementation of a kind of "turn your brain off" checklist RPG. I love stealth games, and I wish stealth in the current Assassin's Creed was better, but it was honestly never that great to begin with. It's not Metal Gear or Splinter Cell or Hitman.
All this talk about "taking the series back to its roots" elicits a big yawn from me because the first one, the most serious stealth game, was one of the worst. Just not that fun to play. ACII was a huge improvement, but mostly on the character, writing, and setting side. The actual gameplay included a lot of kind-of-finnicky stealth (you fail if you get noticed half a second before your blade connects) and some tedious combat where you were basically always waiting for the counter prompt.
Basim was one of the most boring characters in Valhalla, so I'm not exactly expecting him to be the new Ezio
>ACII
>improvement on the character and writing side
Altair is barely a character
Maybe if you watched the cutscenes with your headphones off.
>let's have Ezio completely fricking randomly lose sight of five Templars walking in the middle of a bridge
?t=613
>let's have seven skilled Assassins let a 57yo man, their ultimate enemy in the country, WALK AWAY
?t=498
AC2's story is full of contrivances all the fricking time and plays more like a generic action flick than anything else. The story is garbage and the cast is one-note, Ezio has zero flaws and acts as historical Batman/James Bond, the Prophet plot is backloaded and cut short because the game was originally supposed to end in 1503, Borgia is a fricking moustache twirling Saturday morning cartoon just like Cesare or Starrick and that is extended to every single Templar target in the game. Gone are the cabalistic talks about religion and psychology, gone are the morality questions and uncertainty of the conflict. Writing took such a huge nosedive you'd have to be blind to somehow not notice.
Lmao, the "religion and psychology" stuff from the first game was the most generic pseudointellectual drivel you can imagine, and the game barely had a plot
Then by your own words it goes to show how much worse 2 was in that regard if even 1's "pseudointellectual drivel" exceeds it
>the game barely had a plot
Maybe pay attention next time
Altair is very much a character. Instead of being motivated by some generic personal vendetta like having your family killed, Altair is an butthole who thinks that by virtue of his prodigious talent he can do whatever he wants. The whole game is about him being humbled and understanding the philosophy of not just the Assassins, but also the Templars. By the end of the game and in Revelations, he challenges both and reforms the Assassins with a Templar at his side.
>using Revelations characterization as evidence that he has any sort of character in 1
You mean the characterization that already started in 1, not only with the in-game dialogue with Malik and later talks with Al Mualim (asking questions when at first he would just obey, resisting the Apple when early game Altaïr would've fallen for it due to hubris) but also the post-game Memory thoughts written from his POV, which 99% of people miss?
>"My master is dead—and many more with him, friend and foe alike. But the storm is broken, though pride may hold the clouds aloft a little longer. Of this much I am certain: with Robert and Al Mualim dead, the Saracen and Crusader armies will lay down their arms and give up this senseless war. Freed from the manipulations and schemes of wicked men, Saladin and Richard will find they have more in common than they think. Peace will return to the land. And if they should stray once more? Then my Brothers and I will do what needs to be done to set things aright... Masyaf is quiet now, caressed by the winds which carry through the valley. What is this thing I hold, that it can bend men's minds? No larger than an apple—yet its power greater than any weapon I've known. I have seen what evil even the smallest taste brings. I should destroy it... yet something stays my hand. No, I will hold it a little while longer and see what it may teach me. Perhaps it can be turned to good. Or is this what they others thought when they held it? Is that its power, then? To turn noble into cruel? I know not what the future holds for any of us, but I do know those Assassins who remain will need guidance. I must attend to them. Help to heal their wounds. We will march together into the future, and emerge stronger than we were before. If we are to succeed, if we are to rebuild, then we must be careful not to repeat the mistakes of those who came before. We must be vigilant; ever mindful of the past..."
The above is taken word from word from AC1 btw
Ezio had three games to develop as a character while Altair had one and then a few flashbacks. If we're restricting characterizations it to just between AC1 and 2, I would still say that Altair is the more nuanced of both characters.
Ezio and Rodrigo Borgia are way, way more interesting than anything in ACI. They're not amazing characters or anything, but let's not pretend that Al-Mualim and Altair are better
>How long is Assassin's Creed Mirage?
>Our fastest player finished it in 10 hours.
>Our “slowest” player played for almost 17 hours before credits rolled.
According to IGN, we're back to the Old Length as well
Thank god for that, hearing Spider-Man is also only 12 or so hours long makes me hopeful that maybe every game being an 80 hour slogfest is a thing of the past.
So $70 for a shorter game with the same quality of content?
this is probably the last time they will make an AC game shorter than 50 hours if the game bombs or doesnt perform adaquately
it just doesnt make sense nowdays to make short games as a AAA studio, that niche is already filled by DLC, which is what mirage started as, very much like new dawn i reckon
>it just doesnt make sense nowdays to make short games as a AAA studio
Quite the oppsite.
The most successful singleplayer games (on consoles at least) are AAA action adventures with main story lasting 15-20 hours.
GoW, Spider-Man 2, Ghost of Tsushima are all that length.
you're very mistaken about that
I don't think so.
The games you're describing are a particular niche of Sony prestige games that leverage a huge budget and unusually high levels of polish to enhance the PlayStation brand. Assassin's Creed isn't about to reach that level of quality, and Ubisoft wants long games that can sell you microtransactions for a hundred hours rather than a console-seller for hardware they don't own
>Assassin's Creed isn't about to reach that level of quality
Well yes, precisely because they're stuck trying to make singleplayer shit with microtransactions.
Even though it doesn't sell anywhere near as well as the "Sony formula" stuff.
AAA studios can easily go either full MMO, or do proper singleplayer yet Ubisoft can't figure shit out to this day, probably because of nepotism and shitty management.
They make a lot of money on the microtransactions, making Sony-quality stuff would be very expensive, they would have to compete with Sony/Rockstar/etc to get the best writing/animation talent, they couldn't put them out nearly as quickly, and they'd have to completely reorganize their famously Byzantine studio in order to change the kind of games they make. They can't just decide in a board meeting one day to start making prestige games
>They make a lot of money on the microtransactions.
I strongly doubt it. Their main income is absolutely copies sold. And their best selling AC game is still Black Flag iirc. Because it was genuinely great.
Their games are finished quickly for main plot - by the players who even finish them at all - and those players largely miss the shop content, they certainly don't stick around to check it weekly after that either.
t. worked on mmorpg marketing and monetization for 7+ years
Whales in singleplayer games like AC are downright mythical. It's just not a thing.
Valhalla made a billion dollars off of microtransactions
>off of microtransactions
Not off of those alone. Together with those.
Valhalla in itself sold well. Because it's a viking game.
Primarily off microtransactions. Even if it sold 50 million copies, which I very much doubt, and got to keep every single penny from those sales, which it obviously did not, that's only $300 million.
You're missing a zero, and also Assassin's Creed costs $70 now
Valhalla costs $60
>Primarily off microtransactions
No, it's never stated anywhere.
1 billion at the average game price of $70 is around 15 million copies sold, and Odyssey sold 10 million.
Valhalla was better received and had more marketing.
valhalla had like no microtransactions that anyone would actually use
I feel that way about every microtransaction in every game, and yet...
If you want to know for sure you might try looking at their K-10 filings with the Securities Exchange Commission. Investors, etc., look at these so they will usually contain financial data about the company's revenues.
Tsushima is short(ish) if you just beeline the main story but don't pretend it's designed as a linear game like GoW
Have any of these "$20 cheaper" games ever performed well? It feels like a niche that developers keep trying to open up that never really works. Lost Legacy sold way less than the other Uncharted games, Miles Morales sold way less than Spider-Man, no one cared about that Far Cry spin-off...
plenty of AA games get priced around that point, games like sniper elite or sniper ghost warrior, and coop games, maybe hitman too altho probably not
ehh, 4 out of 8 are open world, with tentative 5th and 6th since i have no idea about trushima or TLOU games
Watched some streams for 2 minutes and was already bored.
He's literally Ezio: SandBlack person edition
The whole intro has been fun so far, they even give you an option to do it yourself for the 2nd part of the first mission instead of getting hand held by the NPC.
I hate this streamer early access shit so much
If you want to do early access, release a fricking demo
>What if we made ASSASSIN CREED 1 but as a modern-day slop, less soulful, and just the same shit after we've seen it all/been through several iterations.
I wouldn't play this game if you paid me to play it.
You're poor and that's a lie.
I got to see AC go from that innovative game in 2007, to normieslop later on, only for it to fizzle out in popularity in the 2020s
How did Ubisoft do it? Other franchises had their low points, like Pokemon and Sonic, but they never ended up in obscurity
>innovative game in 2007
it was always shit, jim
you have to admit that mechanically the first 2 games were a pretty good evolution of the PoP games
mechanically might be but gameplay wise? boring shit
Literally just a stripped down dlc for Valhalla except ubishit is charging full price for it
WTF it's releasing tomorrow? I haven't beaten Lies of P or AC6 yet!
When does it come to Steam?
Next AC game will be about Jesus being an assassin killing israeli templars
>walking on water
>exorcism
>healing cancer
>turning water into poison
>summoning storms
>reviving the dead
Would be kino
I'll torrent it, not paying for pajeet made game about sandBlack folk anything else?
doesn't it have denuvo
it will get cracked eventually idc if it has denuvo?
Ubishit games now are just bloated hamster wheels simulators, playing them really make me feel like a rat in a maze getting experimented on, more than any other type of games, they are so blatantly designed around boardroom market research in the most cynical of ways just meant to keep you in these shallow gameplay loops of artificial nothing, instantly consumed, digested and forgotten, completely detached from any kind of passion and love about organic game design, all I can see when I see a modern ubishit game is the executive PowerPoint slides with keywords like 'player engagement', 'reward loop' and 'ecosystem retention'. I find these games extremely sinister and debilitating. They've unironically become like that evil corpo in the game with its fake matrix simulated lifeless world, ubishit players are trapped in the animus by abstergo.
> completely detached from any kind of passion and love
silly comments like this only come from people who don't understand or appreciate the craft that AAA requires.
AAA development is already a field where you are required a highly specialized skillset and 7+ years of work experience for basically all senior positions which ultimately pay less than the equivalent work experience + position in a random tech business other than gamedev, and even junior positions require usually 3 years of work experience, even if all you're doing is placing down water puddles and painting foliage....
Technical craft has nothing to do with passion, creative soul, game design. There's zero personal input in these games because every one of the 1000 employee working on them is disposable and replaceable and just working on an assembly line following orders from the marketing heads and shareholders, doing hyper specialized task like you just said like placing puddles but there's not a single creative vision unifying the whole thing in a genuine way because everyone involved is terrified of taking a risk and getting out of line with the status quo. It's corpo bloat bullshit at its finest.
I agree with this sentiment, but that's basically how Ubisoft is organized from top to bottom. Most of their studios could never put together a game on their own. It's all structured to farm every part of a game out to a different one of their like 20 support studios. Even if the Ubisoft leadership agreed that they need to have smaller, more intimate teams make their games, they couldn't do that without entirely rebuilding the studio, which isn't feasible. That's also why no one wants to buy Ubisoft, even while they're looking to be acquired—a prospective buyer would want to shutter half of those studios, but you can't do that without tanking the whole pipeline.
ok so you say there is no passion, then explain why they do painstaikingly tedious work like photogrammetry for that extra bit of realism when it's laughably easy to make a nice looking realistic medieval wall material. explain why they hire archaeologists and historians to work as consultants when they could just be making generic historic fiction n making things up? you make no sense
you realize photogrammetry is way easier than actually creating the textures from scratch, right?
and has less soul
>Let me work these polygons and textures to make something unique!
>Nah, just photograph real life and put it in the game. It will look natural.
>Nah, just photograph real life and put it in the game. It will look natural.
another moron talking about something he has no clue about, kek
you know nothing about the craft, keep it on the down low b***h
You make a lot of empty noise for getting frick ITT pretty hard.
you don't even know english, you have no chance of understanding photogrammetry or texture work
The capture and the final product are never 1:1, photgrametry just gives the artist a better base to work with than just a cube or donut.
you know absolutely 0 things about what goes into photogrammetry or texture work if you think that
Yeah that's why AAA games these days are filled with clutter resembling IRL objects all over the map. Idiot.
Surprised they aren't shilling a female protagonist like they've been doing with the last two games. Also their next "big" AC game is going to be the one with the african ninja in Japan right? God that flop is going to be fun to watch.
>Surprised they aren't shilling a female protagonist
It's about this Evil Ezio character they're trying to get over with people.
Five seconds into Mirage and you're show female Eivor and Kassandra front and center. You better don't forget the vegana is canon, shitlord!
?t=46
Happy Mirage release day!
Yep, I'm thinking we're back. Now hopefully there's a way to disable enemy markers on the minimap otherwise this is completely pointless.
Sexual assault and harassment is based, though.
Is the game enjoyable with all the assist shit disabled? I always hate them, but most games are designed assuming you have all that stuff turned on so they don't put much thought into level design and enemy placement as a result.
As long as you use your bird to scout, yes.
Did they remove all of the RPG elements?
I know this is kind of a contrarian opinion but I really liked them, and I've found that in more recent creed's the gameplay outside of the cities was way more fun than the old ones just set inside one
It's only really contain in very online circles. The old-style games got stale and the new ones are fun. I'd like to see more stealth focus, personally, but it would need to be something totally built from the ground up rather than a "return to form"
>I'd like to see more stealth focus
stealth is just not gonna feel good in AC games, since it ultimately boils down to sniping guards with a bow so it just boils down to point and click action, and then using that teleport super ability to take out a bunch of enemies at once. it's just a completely different ball game if you want good stealth like hitman, or even sufficient stealth like far cry, its a completely different discipline of level design entirely since you need to design encounters in a way where you never have 2 guard vision cones overlap for too long a time
I'm actually replaying them now and going for pure stealth and whilst it isn't entirely possible I think odyssey struck a nice balance where you can use adrenaline for the enemies you can't kill with one normal hidden blade use
(Origins isn't that good because you can't stealth higher level enemies at all and the bow is so good vs your own level that you have to ignore it entirely)
>I know this is kind of a contrarian opinion but I really liked them
You goddamn piece of shit.
But seriously, it's got skill trees and weapons you can upgrade, you're just not giving a single frick about numbers.
It's still there, just not as much. Damage numbers are also hidden by default and you can't turn them on.
Also you can completely turn off the **teleports behind you** power if you don't like it.
Is Valhalla worth even pirating?
Yeah it's good, just a bit annoying that you can't get a normal sword outside of the DLC
No.
I bought the season pass and dropped it 1 hour into the first expansion.
Skip.
Game is way too bloated.
it's already 5th in japan where the frick is my game?????????
Ubisoft+ has a different release time
ubisoft plus version is not out until midnight eu time worldwide
>make a franchise about being a historical assassin
>sideline the actual assassination elements after the first entry
Why? AC2 may have been a decent game in its own right, but it was the entirely wrong direction for the series.
>Why?
Because Ubisoft allowed the dev team of the first game to do whatever the frick they wanted so they ended up with a game that looking back was more of a 'cult following'-type of historical Hitman than the kind of game a AAA developer/publisher like Ubisoft wants. AC2 was a direct response to AC1's harshest critics. The game slowly but surely moved from trying to be a social assassin simulator to a historic GTA with sidequests about beating husbands, delivering letters or horse racing. Ezio was written to be cool and in the right all the time, great with ladies and with bombastic action setpieces surrounding him. That, and there's only one intermission with Desmond in the entire game (the Acre dream) compared with the eight you had in the first game, all accompanied with learning a little bit more about Vidic, Lucy and Abstergo. It was AC2 which started the real Ubisoft collectathon with the chests, feathers that this time around did matter for narrative progression, an economy system... if you've ever seen people in the last decade say that AC1 has "aged badly", it's mostly because AC2 was the one that actually made the franchise into a crowd pleaser. For better and in time, definitely for worse. There's a reason Ubisoft hasn't remastered or rereleased AC1, why most people (read: normies) tell you to start with 2 and why Ubisoft themselves want you to given the Ezio Collection. They want you to forget that game and what it tried to be and do. They keep referencing Altaïr and adding his outfit to the new games but Ubisoft is ashamed of his game and the vision of the original devs.
You can only release the same shit games over and over so many times before people get bored, and AC doesn't have the same popularity as Pokemon, Mario, Sports, and CoD games
Pitch your ass idea
>Set in Medieval Spain during the Reconquista
>You play as a moor assassin
>Targets are Spanish and Portuguese Templars
>No crafting, no levels, no item pickups
>Items are unlocked via story progression
>1900s
>You're a spy who's career spans from WWI all the way into the Cold War
>Oops it's actually a Splinter Cell game.
>Carolingian Empire during the reign of Charlemagne.
>Reverse rogue, Templar who gets convinced to go full time Assassin
>Old Creed style
Aside from that I got nothing.
>Aztec Empire in the 16th century
>Protagonist has an obsidian hidden blade
>Cortez is a Templar
>Montezuma controls a Piece of Eden
>Protagonist meets European Assassins and starts the first Brotherhood in the New World
Retcon Origins and just make a Fall of the Roman Republic game you cowards
>World War 1
>Thirty Years' War
>The Hungarian Revolution of 1848
Assassin's Creed set during Scotland's war of independence. Iirc Longshanks was almost assassinated by the same assassin group AC is based off of, so it's wild they haven't made one yet.
I don't know the history of the region all that well, but they should do a Black Flag-style game during the European colonization of Southeast Asia
Romanov Russia with Rasputin as main villain.
You need to find Anastasia.
Simple as.
>Set during the Northern Crusades and Mongol Invasions
>play as Teutonic Knight aligned with the Templars
>work with the Mongols and fight the Hashashin while crusading
>Boatgays can sail the Baltic Sea
>German cities like Riga, Konigsberg and Danzig allow for actual parkour
>Mythologygays can make do with the Lithuanian pagan deities
It would be like AC: Rogue + AC: 1
>1920s-30s Berlin
>lots of beautiful buildings with interiors like Unity
>player is an impressionable member of the Nazi party that was too young to join WWI, but begins to show some signs of dissent after being scouted by an Assassin
>Night of Long Knives is a Templar plot to purge the Assassins in Germany as well as any possible sympathizers in the Nazi party; serves at the tipping point for our protagonist's sympathies
>Lebensborn program is actually the first Templar attempt to create more Sages
>emphasis on stealth and ranged combat as melee will almost certainly get you killed
>in any case, player has a cane/some variant for the occasional melee situation that can come with optional things like hidden blade, gun barrel, etc.
>walking animation has player strutting with said cane, can also be umbrella which is deployed during rainy weather
>speaking of rain, rain makes running and parkour less reliable, but also reduces the amount of guards on patrol
>extensive underground, also affected by rainfall
>dark makes traditional stealth easier, while daytime makes social stealth easier
>Eagle vision is exclusively for reading intentions of people as intended by 1 and it otherwise useless many people and guards will be neutral unless you engage with them, whether by combat or bribery
>final mission is to kill Hitler
>expansion pack where you play as a different character in the 60s when the Berlin Wall is erected and you travel between both sides
PLEASE
I think you have to be Wolfenstein-level goofy with World War II if you want to make it into a conspiracy thriller. Too easy to frick it up when the fricking Holocaust is the background of your game
If they actually had decent writers, they could absolutely make it happen. Alternatively, you could make it so that he was controlled by the Apple of Eden if they were really afraid of Hitler's famous pre-war charisma even though they'd be tearing down the ideology by the end of the game.
There's just no way they could make it work tonally and still make a fun sandbox video game. Also, is the protagonist supposed to be wearing a Nazi uniform? Wearing a little red armband with the Assassin crest instead of a Swastika? Total non-starter.
Closest you could get would be a israeli German Assassin who recruits a hesitant Nazi as an ally in the game. There is a zero percent chance that Ubisoft would ever make a game where you play a Nazi
>If they actually had decent writers,
They do not, they would most likely do a female good morning sirs working for the British who magically blends in perfectly inside Nazi Germany.
there's no reason to make a game about hitler, you can't write about his life or character without making it about the holocaust and nobody wants that in a comfy AC game, you're just out of your mind
Yeah, because the Crusades were so comfy. I remember how comfy I felt walking around war-torn Acre and seeing all the scared civillians, beggars and thiefs, and being constantly harassed by crusaders.
I suggest you go back.
Sounds kino but
is an impressionable member of the Nazi party
Not a chance in fricking hell this could happen
not a chance AC game is gonna happen in the mid 20th century just because the politics but also because AC thrives with locations with rich history
>egypt
>greece
>vikings
if anything i want an AC game in the actual roman republic...
I also think they just really don't want to make it a shooter
Syndicate had an expansion set during the early 20th century, so it's not entirely out of the question. The mid-20th century also, arguably, the most consequential point for the Templars where finally assert global dominance.
I don't see why not. If you don't want to make him an outright Nazi, you could just do someone who is impressionable and indecisive initially before becoming a dissenter and finally an antifascist. Making him a israeli assassin would not work at all.
>Wearing a little red armband with the Assassin crest instead of a Swastika?
lol. Alternatively, the crest within the yellow badge.
You absolutely could if you made it prewar, but you would definitely have to have a mission, whether it be in the main game or some expansion, where you assassinate Hitler because it's just too consequential.
you can't make it about him and not make it about holocaust because to most people who haven't read a book he's just the impersonification of absolute evil. you need to make that disclaim absolutely crystal clear, most games do this by making him seem like a joke character like wolfenstein where he's peeing on the floor and acting out of control
iirc, Hitler was a pawn of FDR, Churchill, and other Templars to justify the creation of a new world order, and all of his charisma was attributed to his use of the Apple of Eden to control the masses (as with other characters like the Pope, Napoleon, etc.) rather than any competence. You can lean into that if you want to make him incompetent as well as his Parkinson's if you also want to make him incontinent. But yes, you would have a whole speech at the end where the protagonist is angry at his actions for not just for thoroughly destroying Germany, but being a pawn of the Templars, and a confuse Hitler in denial that he was being used the entire time and still believing everything he did was right before succumbing to his mortal injury.
That post-war expansion in the 60s would be an Assassin/Nazi hunter. Making it like Wolfenstein would be utterly moronic. You can make them bad guys without making them stupid, because a competent villain is actually the most detestable type.
Hitler was a leading Templar along with the other WWII leaders according to old AC lore that I'm sure is no longer canon
I checked up on the lore. It looks like that the Templars had influence but were not heads of government, and while they instigated the war, they ended up losing control over Hitler and temporarily colluded with the Assassins to create a device to travel back in time to kill baby Hitler in what was known as the Philadelphia Experiment, but that failed so they just built a nuke.
Mexican revolution, but you play a Templar-aligned assassin like Haytham or Shay taking out Madero, Zapata, Villa, Obregon, etc
>people tell them to go back and further develop the old parkour system from Unity
>they market it as such
>it's actually just the rpg system with a new coat of paint again and less mechanics
The second they revealed it was supposed to be another expansion to Valhalla before changing it to be its own game for a quick cash grab.
Nobody was going to buy Valhalla just to play a better game in Valhalla and Valhalla enjoyers wouldn't want something like it.
They fixed it on xbox for ubi plus people. Its out right now.
LMFAO I CAN'T
Ubisoft cares so fricking little they even got the fricking year AC1 takes place in wrong in their own fricking trailer promoting Mirage. You literally cannot make this shit up.
how could they do this lol. I havent played it since 2007 and I still remember its set in 1191
Because Lionheart is in the game.
>click on video expecting the comments to be shitting on ubisoft for this
>it's actually just a dozen or so paid bots and pajeets with a few hundred likes (on a video with 250k views) commenting about how great the game looks
Lol. Ubisoft is so pathetic, and especially so are the few genuine fans of this franchise who eat up israelitebislop's blatant lies like the good goyim they are. The Subreddit is even worse because they pretended to hate on the game during the promotion cycle, then Ubisoft added a shitty Animus animation to the shitty teleportation mechanic and they suddenly pretended it was all ok "oh my god guys they listended, they really care" "we're actually going back to the roots" "no one hates assassin's creed like assassin's creed fans am I right fellow assassin's creed fans LOL". They were open to discussion a few months ago, but now they refuse to listen to any opinion that is less negative than "I am cautiously optimistic". This behaviour isn't just exclusive to AC, it happens with every game release. As soon as the game comes out all the NPCs come out the woodworks to shill and defend the game. See Starfield and Pokémon, for example. Redditors truly are the scum of the earth. I wish nothing but suffering for them.
God wish you hadn't brought r*ddit up
>Basim uses his bare fricking hands to slide down a rope
>b-but Ubisoft added dust! Thanks for listening!
Someone shoot me in the head
No one understands how much I hate Redditors. I'm a racist, transphobic, anti-semitic piece of shit, but I hate Redditors more than all of these combined. We need a WWIII, NOW.
Watched a bit on Twitch yesterday, looks shit
I just know it will be with a huge discount like any ubislop, so why should I care right now?
what do they put in the water in Baghdad
People like this need to be killed. I'm not joking.
>being hyped for Assassin Creed in 2023
Ishygddt
They didn't buy many streamers, looks like
Is the soundtrack good in this one?
Cinematic trailer sounded kino.
?si=RMDNzyfp90u9kzS1
/ourguy/ says it's goated
/yourguy/ is a fricking moron that likes the teleportation mechanic
teleportation is alright
>Leo K. Rogue
He has some great points about the other games but he let his standards drop too low for this one. Teleportation is also cancer, no matter how he tries to justify it.
I like his vids but for this one it seems ubisoft payed him a bit too much, it was pretty funny with him talking about the movement and trying to show it off, only to show some clips of it being insanely clunky and slow with plenty of times where you lose all of your momentum even if you sidejump, a real shame but he's been shilling it for a while
>removed rpg elements
>removed excessive ubishit bloat
>longer than older AC games but shorter than Origins and up
>renewed focus on stealth
>Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins babbies don't like it
I will without a doubt absolutely 100% pre order and enjoy your game.
#ad
>Reskinned Valhalla which is just reskinned Odyssey which is just reskinned Origins
why are you doing this to me
Just played the first hour or two. Really good so far, there are some surprising improvements compared to Valhalla:
- the game looks miles better, atleast when in the city, the natural scenery around Masyaf looked a bit last gen, more clutter, higher drawdistance of npcs etc
- character control is very different from Valhalla, it's hard to explain but when pressing the stick it feels differently, smoother I believe
- sound is finally fixed, footsteps and swords no longer sound as if the mic was recording through a wall from another room
- real mocapped cutscenes are back, but I'm not sure if that's just for the prologue because I believe Valhalla had them in the intro too
The writing is kinda weird though. Basim constantly gives expository dialouge.
How's Basim? Does he seem fun? He was boring in Valhalla, so I wasn't exactly excited to see him as the new protagonist
Basim talks like an actor in a play. He is a bit green, you could even call him stupid. I'm sure that will change though it would be weird otherwise. I just arrived at the part where he completed his basic training and he got his cover art makeover. Maybe that comes with a new personality too. I'm excited to see how he's going to develop. You don't get a literal schizo as a vidya protagonist everday. The potential is there they just have to pull it off.
>The writing is kinda weird though. Basim constantly gives expository dialouge.
They made Basim a woman MC?
Escaping Anbar felt kinda rushed, and I'm SO. FRICKING. TIRED. of the "I join the Assassins because of personal revenge/someone near me died :(" angle. First with Ezio's family, then Connor's tribe, then Lisbon, then Arno's dad, then Khemu, now the street urchin kids that are crucified. Also I called it months ago that the plot would revolve around the Masyaf keys given Altair's novelization explained a decade ago he found them hidden in Alamut, and we knew that would be a location in this one
How do you play it? I tried setting my VPN to Australia but the website still says "Pre-order now".
Xbox players can play already by changing their region in the console settings. Something similar might work on Playstation.
They should add visible mission markers in eagle vision. I tried playing the game without hud and it's impossible without checking the map everytime the objective changes.
Does the game have Denuvo? I'll be willing to give it a pirate.
every single ubisoft game does
I bought it. The AC games always bring me some comfort, maybe out of nostalgia.
Same. On the fence about this but I always am with ass creed. I'll wait for a sale because I always end up enjoying them, something about taking out a camp of dudes one by one is fun and that's about the only thing ubislop has done for the last decade or so.
I've played every AC game day 1 and so far this one is extremely boring. I'm about 2 hours in. I'd put it in same category as the awful London one so far.
