Acre's grey-blue filter brings a sense of solemnity and foreboding. The colour palette not only mirrors the coastal city's maritime climate but also reflects the state of ongoing war, evoking a sense of coldness and desolation. The muted tones allude to the city's struggle and despair, making exploration feel more somber.

This one was the best because it looked the most like the trailer

I like running around Acre, listening to the music. It feels very somber and bleak.

In contrast, Jerusalem's lush, green filter conveys a sense of vibrancy and life. The green hues suggest fertility and abundance, which can inspire feelings of tranquillity and calm. As a city considered sacred by three major religions, the green invokes spiritual connotations, making exploration an almost reverential experience.

Damascus, blanketed in a warm, golden-yellow filter, exudes a sense of history and cultural richness. The gold tones echo the city's desert surroundings, the sun-drenched stone architecture, and perhaps its past grandeur, lending a mystical aura to the player's journey.

It's because Jerusalem and Damascus look 90% the same
Sharing most of the same assets
Acre has some unique stuff by comparison

The "nostalgia filter" used in the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Mirage appears to be less thoughtfully implemented. The grey-blue filter, while effective for Acre, feels out of place in the setting of Baghdad in 861. Rather than enhancing the game's atmosphere or aiding the narrative, it appears to be an instance of nostalgia-pandering, which ultimately detracts from the authenticity and the immersive quality of the game. While drawing parallels to previous installments can evoke a sense of familiarity for veteran players, it is crucial that these elements align with the unique context and mood of the current game's setting. Otherwise, they risk being superficial and incongruent, diluting the player's experience.

AC1 had a top notch atmosphere and each city felt distinct. Shame we'll never get anything like it again.

AC1 was outdated in gameplay even by those days' standards. AC2 on the other hand, was something else.

        Wrong. AC1 > AC2.

Probably because you thought it's a deep and clever idea to convey the fact that the desert city is in the desert by slapping on a hideous piss filter.

I like your thread anon, unfortunely people have the memory of a fish nowadays and are obsessed with instant gratification which is why topics that require thinking too much are not as popular

I don’t want to talk about how blue filters in video games evoke tones of sadness. This is the most basic thread ever where you make basic ass film points but in a long winded pretentious way

Right, then go back to your porn and bait threads and continue complaining about overuse of fog.

Yeah but its really basic shit that has somehow been lost along the way as mentioned

, they missed the point of the original filters and just haphazardly slapped it onto the new game.

Games are ripping off movies more than ever so they should be better at this stuff, not worse. You couldn't make a thread about this topic if everyone was caught up.

Because you're acting like your extremely basic, simplistic point is worthy of commentary or discussion.

I'm playing it for the first time right now and that's what inspired me to make this thread. Like the other anon said, after you memorize the weapons on the D-pad, turn off all the UI elements for peak kino.

Never played an AC game in my life. Which ones should I play? I don't really care much for that type of gameplay and about the story but I really enjoy exploring beautiful cities and environments. Which ones should I try>?

AC2. Unity. Origins and Oddysey if you don't mind open world slop.

Also add brotherhood and revelations which are basically AC2 DLC and still have the sovl of jesper kyd's music. If you like pirateshit then you might enjoy Black Flag and Rogue, and although they're good games they're not exactly proper AC games IMO.
