I ran into a few 30 DC locks but they always had a key or a puzzle to unlock them. I just had Astarion at +13 or so with sleight of hand so it wasn't a big deal for me. It's usually the giant doors which should obviously have a key to unlock them

It was less the main ending that i had an issue with. My problem was that it felt very rushed in regards to how companions' stories were wrapped up -- I expected something like WotR with the storybook ending slides but it feels very abrupt.
I think everyone can agree with that and Larian should at least bother doing some.
Just do around 50 slightly generic slides so you can cover most character endings.
WoTR slides were fricking terrible, I still remember how I got two lines of text for Galfrey.

She's the quickest one you can bed with. There's even a speedrun now of how quick you can do it. Someone apparently did it within ten minutes. Where as with Gale you have to jump through some hoops to unlock the weave scene. Then wait until the later part of Act 2.
Laezel bedding you fast THEN developing from it is kinda the point, I really like how her romance was handled in that regard since she develops the most.
Gale is just a borderline rapist unless you are a c**t to him.
Imo Shadowheart feels like the most fleshed-out romance, and I like it the most as a result. She's the only companion who will actively give her opinion on yourself and the way you handle things, she won't frick you until well into Act 3 which creates healthy romantic and sexual tension, making it more satisfying when you finally get to be with her. She was really well written and her quest ties into the main story pretty heavily, especially in act 2, and the choices you make together were genuinely hard to make as you usually had to sacrifice something, echoing the sentiment of loss that comes with worshipping Shar. Great companion, probably my favorite in any crpg except for Imoen.
Jokes aside, I think out of the cast. Shadowheart clearly has the most attention and writing put towards her character. Her personal questline really melds with the main plot. Sure the same can be seen with the rest of the cast. But it doesn't seem like it was put to the extent that she was.
I think Laezel outdoes shadowheart quite a bit in the writing department. Shadowheart feels really waifubaity at times while laezel undergoes some true personal growth.

Shadowheart ceases to exist after Act 2, and she's only relevant in Act 1 because of the artifact that has LITERALLY NOTHING to do with her character.
Meanwhile Lae'zel is relevant in every Act and is tied to every single plot, mostly because of being a Githyanki.
Shadowheart losers however can't stand that their romance has zero relevance to the game and exists only to make them feel less lonely. She's outright written as a "p-please protect me i'm afraid of wolves and my hand hurts and my feet hurts and people are mean to me because i worship shar :(".
She's the Aerie of this game, literally a romance only for sad incels.
I understand this is Ganker and shitting on those who disagree is expected, but I really don't see why it's necessary to shit on people who enjoy Shadowheart because you like Lae'zel more. I personally thought they were both extremely well-written, and Lae'zel's arc from brainwashed Vlaakith grunt to an independent young rebel who wants to free her people was probably my favorite arc in the game.

Astarion made his place in waifu shelf mainly in Act 3's good ending for his personal quest on romance. Seeing him stutter in his pursiut for power, seeing him doubting everything yet needing a final push from his lover to fully reject Kasador was the tensest moment in the entire game for me.
And dialogues in a good romance route fully cement his place. He thanks you for believing in him and trusting him even if it was stupid, he says your love helped him to become something greater than Kasador's slave. That's just awesome, even if at times he reminds me of Zevran and Fenris.
