Karon (forma pájaro Black) is the best character by far, there's no contest
>loyal companion
>indispensable in battle
>can turn into a sexy girl
>funny dialogue
KEIZO give us more Karon pls
>can turn into a sexy girl
wat
his possession skills let him turn into 398432 different sexy girls, or cool dragons and phoenixes and sharks and demons n shit
and yet for my playthrough the current best is just some rocks
Is this game fun? Tried the demo and it was alright.
Did you only play the demo mode or did you play chapter 1 as well? If you finished chapter 1 you should be able to gauge whether you like it or not by now.
Story goes off the rails and progression is satisfying.
For Gaiden, I just hoarded a bunch of tickets, refined them into tissues (Alchemy Recipes at 44 Small Metals), traded for Lollipop, then reloaded my save.
For the kills, apparently
>Killing every single enemy from "Hometown: Cove" till "Mountain Exit". Each run count around 190 kills,
>Best place is the arena 1 - 1, or 1 - 2. The one where you have to kill a bunch of slimes.
The gameplay is really fun, I find the full game way more fun than the demo was because you get much more freedom on how to develop your character. And the story is just fricking crazy. Constant "What the frick who could have guessed that" plot twists left and right (in a good way).
>"What the frick who could have guessed that" plot twists
Pulling random plot twists out of your ass, multiple times no less, is not good storytelling. Maybe mildly entertaining on a surface level, but that's about it.
I said "in a good way" you dumbass.
>I said "in a good way"
And I'm saying there is no good way.
Brainlet post.
Low t post
Watch this and come back later

>here watch this random tangentially related 20+ minute youtube essay
Nah.
Okay, that's better. I guess the other anon just worded his post poorly then?
>And I'm saying there is no good way.
There absolutely is. Else this game wouldn't be good.
pseud post
They're basically all foreshadowed if you paid attention, they're not random
I just beat it.
>Only achievement left in the main game is getting 3000 more kills
>Only achievement left in Gaiden is getting another 30 tissues
Cute!
Bought it today before the discount ended. Really loving it so far, but early game is a nightmare.
almost at the end
So is it canon then that the MC didn't save Shiro the first time around?
Shiro's just extremely conspicuously missing from the DLC in general. She's the only one who's never so much as mentioned. That said, I wouldn't think too hard about what's canon or not. The DLC doesn't even make sense within the context of the main game given the daughter is both found fighting in town and is mentioned to be off gallivanting with Polin later on.
Isn't she only with Polin in postscript?
Couldn't say the exact timing, but she's absolutely stated to be chilling with the dog long before the second part of the DLC begins.
Keizo dropped the ball with how the dog is a shit partner
>given the daughter is both found fighting in town
Honestly a missed opportunity to do a town defense scenario where the hero helps out from the side. Would have been perfect.
i die from 1 attack and restart, untill i get bored
playing on hard or something
am i doing something wrong?
Yeah, use your shield, use your spell iframes, pump HP and def if you really need to.
Probably, although rescuing her for the 2nd Love is optional. Even if saved, Shiro doesn't show up at the graveyard scene for Lisa. It's only after the guild's hero returns home that she plants her sweaty soles on his face. In the Cave of the Phantom Mist, Kuro's body rotted down there, and if Shiro was alive / wasn't left behind in the past, she probably would've left Belkade to search for her and in turn her corpse would've shown up too.
Stratums 1 - 5 take place within Chapters 5 & 6. That battle experience is how she solos the bosses in Chapters 7.
The cutscenes after clearing Stratum 5 have visual Geas roots and mentions the black monsters, which Polin mentions fighting with her throughout Postscript, then it skips to the actual descent of the continent (Postscript's ending) before their encounter with Lieselotte.
>End of the DLC
>Sequel hook goes full TTGL with Nugai's civilisation enacting protocol "kill 'em all" because humanity became too powerful
>Will probably consist of going to space and beating up the god of that race and putting an end to their guided evolution scheme for good
I'm not all that excited about this premise, honestly. Astlibra's story worked so well because the quest for Anulis was a personal one, sequels that try to shoehorn the MC into a new unrelated conflict rarely go well.
I think it's a different civilization altogether
but yeah I'm not that hyped for it either, would prefer a side story following neglected or new characters with lower stakes
knowing keizo he'll drop the idea if something else catches his interest anyway so I'm not gonna worry about it now
I just started the game, any tips I should know?
Use magic
Turn off the magic pause if you're playing on hard or below
Make sure you get the berserk skill in chapter 3 before moving on
>turn off magic pause
>half the time it ends up fumbling the input because you have to rush it between tight moments
nah, if you're playing on a difficulty where you can have it on, keep it on.
How about you get good?
My only experience with pause was playing on easy to get the kai achievement in DLC and I was constantly annoyed the flow of the game was broken every time I wanted to cast something until I remembered you can turn it off.
the 'flow' of the game gets broken every time you land a hit, which with magic weapons is really fricking often, so it doesn't stand out and gives you a little time to think about your options, not "ok I want to do this move because I have xyz about to frick me FRICK NOT THAT MOVE GOD DAMNIT"
Are you playing with analog or something that you fumble the inputs?
>playing sidescrollers on kbm
bro your d-pad?
d-pads are for gays
gross yikes cringe
yes, I do
Shift for magic with arrow keys for inputs
Z for attack
X for jump
I play with DS4 and use the dpad.
It's literally inputting the simplest fighting game input and I don't even play fighting games.
But since you've basically admitted to playing with analog of course you'd fumble directional inputs.
>I play with DS4
Still best controller, Xbaby.
And no, I don't even own any consoles.
>Everyone's beaten the DLC by now right?
No
9 times out of 10 I'm entering these rooms in stratum 8 and getting 1-hit-ko'd by those death laser giant lizards or whatever
Fun experience still
>Everyone's beaten the DLC by now right?
I just need to get the Kai achievement and then I am done with the DLC
Which monster drops the purple meat again?
the two legged purple thing that jumps
Oh shit I remember that thing. Guess it's too early then
how's the replay value, is there any endgame content?
Without spoiling, the end game is just as long as the base game
>Without spoiling, the end game is just as long as the base game
Bought.
dlc is the replayable bit now as it's mostly gameplay
>Everyone's beaten the DLC by now right?
I only just started the main game
currently on chapter 5 looking for somewhere to jam my sluice key into
it's been pretty sun so far. Normally I'm not a huge fan of i-frame spam but having to mix magic, backsteps, and guarding wither their differences makes it pretty fun
Do i miss out on anything if I don't return to town a lot during the DLC?
I don't think so.
you miss out on the old man being a horny frick
Not really, dialogue only updates like 4 times in the entire thing and not at all during the second half.
would it be a bad idea to enhance the broom
All early game equipment off bad, wait until the best ones.
>Divine Sword Stacy
what did keizo mean by this
astlibra is found footage
>Because my save files are from before the translation update I'm on "Hard" difficulty which no longer exists
as much as i loved the dlc it was a really weird move to make only half of the second half stranums not have any chest gear, and it made me very paranoid i was just getting unlucky (also i miss u karon), also maybe more cosmetics
I wanted to dress up like the princess
>Keizo actually included dialogue for doing this
holy soul
I couldn't bring Shiro for this because she was fricking DEAD in my save
is that from killing that boss practically right at the start of chapter 3?
yes
what difficulty did you do that on/level/etc?
level 35 with berserk, on hard
Nope waiting to start the DLC when I get more free time to run through it in large sittings
Baker's autist.
I need to replay the game to get this scene...
I always wonder who is the first guy to find stuff like this, though it's not that hard to find, you just need to whack with a staff for 5 to 10 minutes.
I figured it out by accident because I was curious if I actually could damage the mobs behind the baby gate, and then autism took over and forced me to plink at them with a staff for a couple minutes just to see.
How do you get that scene?
you use long range weapons to kill enemies beyond a barrier during the town invasion
KORE DE SAIGO DA
>Board classes unlocked
Frick, not again- i freaking hate boards
You received a letter from the barkeep.
Mr Skeltal filters me like hell
Wait hold on.
So why are the scales in possession of the hero after the rewind if he dies and thus loses the ownership?
don't think about it
Dear Hero and Baker's Daugher are opposite pans
Unlike the Shield of Laia, where Edwin's ownership passed on to Kuro even during Postscript, Astraea was still locked up in Tokyo as Gaiden took place and was still guiding the Guild's Hero to save her for Chapters 6 to Final, so probably god meddling for the Astlibra Project.
>Have tor replay the dlc just for one achievement
Fricking Hell
if it's the Kai one, it's not bad.
Now replaying the entire main game because of the difficulty one, that is bullshit
yeah it's that one
>Not playing on Hell from the get-go
confidence issues
Where do I get the "bark with leaves" material from chapter 7?
In the second half of Anesta via Sleeping Aid but before you go to Belkade, is a new giant enemy that shoots lasers and drops Beastly Tree's Fungi.
Stratum 11, Special Goggles (Special Piece Chance+), KEIZO Emblem (Rare Piece Chance+), Rare Lithograph (Rare Board Chance), Golden Cogwheel (post-game Proof of Proficiency). Could be placebo, but having max LUC might help too.
Optional Tablet of Detection (Board Drop Chance+) as you still want Magic Stones and Corundum for Gemstone Power from chests.
My EXP/Coin set from the base game worked, but then I settled on the essentials for a boss killer: the stat increases like Magical Power being % based instead of a flat +100 increase is a huge buff, then Max ST & ST Gain Rate for casting, Max HP for Darkness casting, HP Recovery to buff Pure, and Guard Durability.
Divine Sword Ec Stasia's extra attack output with this MAG (and no Kaiser Ring) is comparable to Magic Broom + Command Claw in the base game, it's nuts.
>stratum 7
>still haven't found one decent board
Where do you gays get the +8 per magic stone pieces? Am I not supposed to have the goggles equipped?
what do the goggles even do?
Nothing.
The response that I actually wanted even though it doesn't answer the question
Stratum 10 / 11 plus the purple ticket accessory (name escapes me at the moment but it increases rare board drops) is the best way to go. It is the only real grind in the DLC.
You actually need rare board+, rare piece+ and board rate+ to farm efficiently.
I'm sure it helps but I consistently get 10+ boards running through 10-1 to 10-9 with just the rare board drop up accessory.
Yeah, but you don't just want rare boards, you want rare stones on your boards that gives you stats per magic crystal.
I'm on the main game, just started chapter 8. Should I do the dungeon under castle now? Also the secret dungeon in the lava place and on the demon king continent? Before carrying on with the story.
All the secret bosses should be completable relatively easily so yeah
Thank you
You could in theory beat them as soon as they're available, but at this point you're overleveled for half of them, so it may or may not still be challenging depending on your difficulty and skill
post scales
About to start the main game for the first time ever, aiming for 100% cheevos, what do I have to know?
play on Hell mode at least, there's an achievement for it
Is it now called hell? I remember playing it in the old translation and it was called hard / difficult, depending on which menu
It was always called Hell in-game and difficult in the achievement.
i don't remember what it's called but played it on hard I think, i haven't boot up the main game in a long time, the dlc called the hard mode as hell
I think the achievement is only for hard, but you should still play on Hell at least, yeah.
How hard is hell mode? Will I be fine if I beat all of Rabi-Ribi minus the DLC on hard? Is there any grind at all?
not that hard, if you get stuck just level up some more. Yes there are a lot to grind in this game but it's not the annoying kind, it's more a grind to gain ability and doesn't take a lot of time.
Don't eat the burnt food when you get it.
Remember this 60 hours from now.
Why? I know what you're talking about and that achievement isn't missable
Bout to boot it up and it tells me I can skip the opening cutscene. How long is it and should I bother watching it?
the story in this game is worth experiencing genuinely.
>Revision post-game is slogfest padding
>DLC Gaiden is 99% gameplay 1% story
BREH, THE GAMEPLAY IS SHIT. PEOPLE LIKE THIS GAME DESPITE THE GAMEPLAY, NOT BECAUSE.
I like the story and the gameplay
i havent finished revision yet, what exactly is the post-game, do you refer to postscript or is there something after the "end" of postscript?
if anything ive seen the quest to get literally every weapon and armor
Do you think the story is great or something?
it's perfectly fine jrpg story
Yes it's like any jrpg story with magic and technology and everything. Doesn't mean people play the game for the story.
the gameplay and systems is the main reason people play this game
The gameplay is fantastic, the frick you're talking about.
>doing an impossible playthrough
>magic is carrying even more than it was before, to the point physical is practically a joke
I just hit chapter 3, my crossbow is putting in WORK, but I'm too big of a shitter to have beaten double nushi in the arena before I went into it where I plan to exploit like 400 magic crystals by retry
What's the exploit?
I already beat the double nushi arena.
get into phase 2 of the fight where it has additional enemies summoned that give exp, kill those with weapons that give a magic crystal upon being mastered, die and retry the fight until you're satisfied you have enough.
I didn't even notice there being additional enemies spawning.
Is there a guide?
You don't need one.
I'm missing a few pieces of equipment from earlier strata. Will there be returning enemies deeper in or should I just spend some time backtracking and farming for drops?
