thefrick
i didnt know there was some content on development
I played astlibra few months after the hype had dried off and i will always regret not having played it sooner to be part of the threads at its peak
I love this little homie like you wouldn't believe
Too much fricking shit coming out soon.
Should I wait to play it until after this comes out or should I just play it now?
This will likely not be strongly related to the base game, if at all, so it dosn't matter.
There's no point to its existence if it's female protagonist slop
Then why does it have the word revision in the title?
ASTLIBRA Revision is the name of the Steam version of the original Astlibra, the base game
Ohhhh, I've only seen people call it astlibra. Is that one a remake?
Revision is more of a remaster, I *think* at most it added the bonus chapter at the end and fixed graphics, added an english translation, details like that.
Oh, if you mean story-wise it's pretty kino. For me, it's the one where you time travel Karon out of existence and the suddenly ultrahard gameplay meshes with what your character must be feeling. some real ludo right there
Revision is the subtitle in the base game. Because the steam release isn't the original release
I didn't mind, I was making excuses to go back to the start of the level just to hear that track. The lead up to the chapter is also great. Everything has gone to shit, friends dead, stuck in the future. Aimless with no direction, then the fricking timekid just turns to you as you are wandering around, "Been waiting for you." The track just was icing to it all like a new ending theme for PT 2 of a season
This seems to be a totally side story with a different protagonist (that gets mentioned a bit on the base game)
So other than for familiarity with the world it seems like it will be 99% stand alone
That said if that comes in 4 days you might as well start to play Astlibra now if you expect to play it by the time this expansion/dlc/whatever is called drops
Polin is her companion so it likely takes place in the last chapter of the game
This DLC is 100% going to be something you launch from the main menu as its own thing, it isn't going to be accessed via your main game saves.
I believe Polin becomes her partner as soon as you save the the swamp kid. More like penultimate chapter at least. It was even before the demons invaded the city
Play it now. The DLC is a completely separate mode that plays by different rules.
Main game is surprisingly long and will prep you for how the core gameplay goes.
>core game is male protagonist with waifus
>gaiden is agp female protagonist troon shit
Frick off, man. What the frick are you thinking.
Take your meds, breathe some fresh air and touch grass. The game is meant as a joke.
Schizo chud mutt
WHERE ARE YOU GOING
rain
always one of you gays forcing me to post it
WE NEED YOU
YOUR SON NEEDS YOU
Is it on switch as well ?
The base game, yes. The DLC will follow up "soon".
i was about to post a thread about it
can't wait for this tbh
for me this is one of those cases where the game is too fricking ugly to bother. It makes my eyes bleed
at the very least try the demo
had the same reaction as you, plus the demo was too much at once; I gave it an honest shot and ended up really enjoying it
> the game is too fricking ugly
I think it looks fricking amazing, some of the mobs are a little grungy but the backgrounds and setpieces look fantastic for just being a bunch of photographs slapped together
You'll get over it quickly, it just works
it's pure fricking undiluted JAP SOVL
trust me you get used to it
For me, the game is very beautiful.
it looks like a 15 year old flash game and i do mean that in the nicest way possible - i fricking love it
Rare case where I don't mind the DLC because base game already had a shitload of quality content and this is truly extra stuff instead of shit that should have been part of the main game but was purposely taken out to squeeze extra money out of you.
>Rare case where I don't mind the DLC because base game already had a shitload of quality content and this is truly extra stuff instead of shit that should have been part of the main game but was purposely taken out to squeeze extra money out of you.
Should've been male protagonist thoughever
Don't care, gay.
Neat, guess that'll be my excuse to replay the game.
Nice, does it have a price already?
Nice, was one of my favourite games I played last year. You play as the baker's daughter in this?
yes
I’m going to Anulis
>13th
Damn, it won't give me enough time for a replay, Astlibra is like 50 hours long.
GO FORTH, MY SERVANTS
For me is Nugai.
for me, it's:

if they had played this one last time during the final boss i would have creamed my pants on the spot
FRICK, I'M SO EXCITED FOR MORE ASTLIBRA
>ASTLIBRA Revision Gaiden GOTY of The Year Version (Gold) coming out March 13!
From the description it actually seems like it takes place after the events of the story since it mentions danger still plaguing Rispadar and that the MC is missing
No, it takes place during the events of the Postscript. I doubt demons are around after the ending since ANUBIS has been shut down in the future.
>that part when you realize just how weak the MC is without Karon but still have to take down [redacted] by sheer human power alone
By far the most kino fight in the game.
god, what a fricking chore was getting past all those demons without karon. luckily the crossbow exists.
Just spam up+attack while jumping on everything. The flying monsters died on one combo generally while killing the grounded ones. The jumping monster was a little harder but any long range weapon worked fine
I never actually used any of the ranged weapons much outside of hitting the hidden chest switches. How much did I miss out?
they scale with magic afair
turns out they are pretty damn stronk
They're strong and do good damage, they hard carry arena in particular
I didn't invest a lot of time in them either, but at the most basic level, the crossbow is useful to take out strong enemies from afar safely, which is very handy in some of the later chapters when mobs start hitting like a truck. It made "fighting" the ship in Elysium particularly trivial for me while I was struggling taking it head-on. Arrows are also cheap to buy or come across as loot.
They scale with magic, and with enough stat points you can kick some serious ass all the way from downtown. Especially useful on Impossible when you want to clear out a room and keep your distance, since everything can 1 or 2-shot you. Mind you, I'm referring to the crossbows and the fire bow, not the other stuff like the shotgun/laser that that practically inhale ammo.
The segments without Karon made me miss that lil homie so much. I completely empathized with the MC when he cucked Anulis out of her trad wife fantasy because he was too worried about Karon to settle down
>Tomb Raider Remastered and Gaiden next week
CAME here to post this
it's impossible to pick because I fricking NEED both and they're so imminent
What's good about the ps1 tomb raider anyway? Played it back then when I was 8 and I thought it's shit then I just pop in Resident Evil and Tekken2.
For me there's also Dungeon Travelers To Heart 2.
And in just more than a month DD2.
Shit's fricked.
Should I play some more? I went through the snow place and it was a miserable experience on hard. Might have to reconfigure my setup or set the difficulty on normal.
If I can do it on Impossible, I'm sure you can do it on Hard, anon.
You brought this upon yourself, you tryhard
People already complain about that chapter on Normal.
Push through it, parts of that chapter are the hardest part of the game imo
The hard parts of the game are the fun part
Is it true the OST is 100% stock music? none of it was composed specifically for the game? because frick, a lot of it fits too fricking well
KEIZO cherry-picked the OST, it is all royalty free, technically if you make a game you can use the entire Aslibra OST for it too.
I played Monster Girls and the Mysterious Adventure and it was so bizarre to hear the arena theme being used for the final boss of the 1st dungeon.
This classic shall never beaten.
I never get tired of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trjYvSQyD2s
Heard it in everything from IWBTG fangames to futa H-games
>futa H-games
holy slop
There's actually a lot of amazing stock music available for free or a few pennies to license. You just have to dig through a whole mountain of trash to find gems. Which is also why most games sadly just stick to default free tracks rather than going out of their way to find good songs.
yes.
It's mostly true but some of the songs had new arrangements composed specifically for Revision, Memoria is the most obvious example.
Having the opening play at the start of each chapter like an anime was a nice touch, this song always got me hyped for starting a new chapter.
I bought this game but haven't played it yet. Is it kino?
waay better than it may seem from the screenhots
Astlibra because one of my favorite games of all time.
100%
worth buying even at full price
it has a 95% positive review with over 20k reviews
It is Kino
The only question is if the gameplay might interest you, i dont care for Terraria no matter how many times people say its the best game ever made.
But if this game seems interesting to you then you can go for it safely, its fantastic
Go try the demo and make your own conclusion, a lot of people hyped up by external opinion end up having unreasonable expectations and then leave a shit review after playing for a couple hours, we don't need any more of those.
The demo is weird, don't actually choose the "demo" option from the title but just start a new game, that should allow you to play a portion of the game normally (Chapter 1 only I think?), the "demo" option is a clusterfrick that throws a bunch of shit at you at once and does a poor job at representing the normal gameplay.
The demo hooks the player on the story and gameplay, it's a pretty good demo imo. I first played the demo then full game because gameplay and story interested me to see how the cliffhanger unfolded.
Same
My favorite part of the demo was going "Oh, so I guess none of this actually tied into the full game at all" only to hours later be like "OH"
>My favorite part of the demo was going "Oh, so I guess none of this actually tied into the full game at all" only to hours later be like "OH"
kek that was my experience as well
>mc going super saiyan got me laughing hard what a game man
yes
I don't remember this dialog but at the same time doesn't feel out of place, I'm guessing is either from the old translation or behind a dialog choice I didn't pick.
It's easy to miss
It's dialogue that's only accessible when you first meet her, it may have been changed slightly in the new translation
That's the new translation.
The latter. I missed this too on my first playthrough. I believe you have to go up to Astrea and speak to her before using the box she gives you.
Frick yeah.
Yes. I started the game expecting nothing, and dropped everything else to play it to completion. I consider one of my favorite games of all time. Immediately went back to finish it on the hardest difficulty.
>normal
Don't make us look bad. Don't ever post that pic again
I didn't want to kick myself in the nuts by starting right off the bat on the hardest difficulty.
normal is unironically pretty difficult since you don't level up as fast
unironically my favorite JRPG of all time
Shiro's midget milkers.
Is there somewhere I can learn about the original free version of the game? Doesn't seem like there's a lot of info because it's old, jp only and not even available for download anymore (I think?), but seems interesting. From what I can gather, the original game ended at Chapter 5, had more explicit imagery than the steam version (nipples?) and was overall much less polished gameplay and graphics wise. Also, seems the baker's daughter side game idea also existed back then? (not sure if it was ever completed or it was just a demo/concept)
https://en.keizo.games/astlibra
I kinda miss the rough jank of the old translation
you can set up the old translation on steam
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Can we save Astraea in the DLC? She and Nugai didn't deserve it.
didn't play the original side story, but that's rather unlikely
So we're getting to play as the baker's girl? Neat.
Was this the most soulful chapter in the game?
Chapter 5, easily
This is foreshadowed as early as chapter 2 iirc, you can read about them on some random documents. You've been reading the documents you collect, right Ganker?
What are you talking about anon?
Not that anon but, I believe it's the references to geass in the pages you find. I believe the boss you fight at the bottom of the castle might be a fragment of it that got inside but got sealed away (as parts of it strongly resemble the geass roots).
I thought the metroid homage was charming but the chapter was just too fricking long and that's the exact point where you really start to grind for materials if you want all the equipment
One of my favorite parts of the obvious episodic making shit up as we go way this story was written is that what seems like obvious foreshadowing doesn't always have payoff which allows shit that would otherwise be obvious like Karon being the dragon fly under the radar because you're like "well the other 3 things that were seemingly obvious as frick didn't end up being true"
aaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAA
I STILL NEED TO FINISH THE FRICKING GAME BUT THERE ARE TOO MANY GAMES TO PLAY
YOU'VE GOT 4 DAYS ANON
BETTER HURRY UP
based game for an audience with refined tastes
It's funny how he took his time when she threatened to sit on his face, but got up immediately when she threatened to use her feet
IMAGINE THE SMELL
>based game for an audience with refined tastes
the pipsqueak is truly full of resentment towards the world to come up with such threats
What does Gaiden even mean in game titles?
2: anecdote; side story; spin-off
Now I'm just confused by Ninja Gaiden.
1: supplementary biography;
but really I have no idea, just going by what Jisho gives me
Side story/Supplemental story
I have a theory
The Lord and Nugai are humans from the first cycle which got out of Earth, like Zach and Kai, maybe the girl Zach mentions. Their story is literally the same, both got out of their doomed planet on Arks, those arks had humanoid androids serving the people evacuating their planets and both had pretty similar technology. Besides, the Lord is a big titted girl.
The cycle only happens in Elysium because of Astraea's timefrickery, time flows freely everywhere else. Also the Lord is the creator of Astraea and the other gods so that's not possible
Don't forget the planet had human life before the gods lifted the islands and Astrea made the astlibra project.
I can see it being possible on two ways:
First: when the gods lifted the floating islands, they turned back the clock initially. That would explain a lot about how Kai didnt mention anything about the rest of the planet, specially because just leaving Elysium makes no sense to Zach's people or Tokyo residents. Also, at least Zach definetly came from a previous loop as he came to the city while it was on the middle ages. Making the first Tokyo trip not the first futuristic city to happen as the lab reports wrongfully state.
I forgot the second one while typing the first one and now I can't figure it out anymore kek
Uhh. Remind me who zach was?
The guy in the bar in Rispadar with the glasses.
>bar guy was one of the future guys
Wait that's why he disappears part way through the game?
Surprise motherfricker. Thought using scales comes free?
That guy was the single most fanfic aspect of post script. I refuse to believe he was anything but a random npc that the dev completely forgot about until he thought it would be cool if he turned out to be a gigantic foreshadowing instead and it was
isn't he kind of a plot hole
Kai blames the Elysians' time traveling for the colonists' disappearing but the subsequent explanation of the closed time loop seems to rule that out
maybe it's sequel bait
Zach brings that up and the disappearance itself Kai explains as timelines competing with each other and the most common fact between them superseeding the less common.
Yeah, still doesn't make sense because in every new timeline, Zach ark escape as the branching happens after his people escaped Gaia. And also Kai was desperate to stop you before Zach even disappeared
Kai mentioned he's lost a lot of people to timefrickery, not just Zach. Remember in Chapter 5 he was killing demons because they weren't part of the true history showing he was already concerned about people abusing time travel way back then.
>Kai mentioned he's lost a lot of people to timefrickery
This, I'm pretty sure him and Zach are the last two of their group at that point. But maybe I'm just filling in my memories of it
I thought so too but I think Zach implied he came down with a bunch of people
You made it make a little more sense. Still kinda weird. Kai only learns of the Artlibra project after Zech disappears and he wasnt angry on the flashback until Zach got offed
>sequel bait
I can't see there being a sequel. How could you ever create something that is on an even more ridiculous level than what's happening in postscript?
>I can't see there being a sequel. How could you ever create something that is on an even more ridiculous level than what's happening in postscript?
Game ends implying MC is a big fish stepping into a big pond after saving what is essentially a multiverse of floating continents and letting them land back on earth. All the different civilizations could have their own MC-tier gigachads, and some might vie for control of the earth, so there's plenty of breathing room for a continuation, but the plot would be more straight forward without the time-travel shenanigans.
I dont remember this dude in postscript at all, was he missable?
The guy who is sitting on the bar on the first loop. On postscript he isn't there and an NPC outside the bar says whoever sits on that chair disappears without anyone remembering you. Later on when we get to Kai's flashback, its shown Zach and Kai on an Ark, they left the planet but people kept disappearing. Kai theorizes someone is messing with the time and timelines competing (indicating anubis caoming online and probably the astlibra project too) and decides to get to the planet instead of living alone thereon the Ark
?list=PLAFtZ4pMPIc44M6qy6P0jfizpvr3l8EtL&t=6219
Just realised Kai tries to stop you before Zach disappear, plothole right theres
Ahh ok nevermind
>FINAL CHAPTER: ASTLIBRA
>nowhere close to being the final chapter
Suddenly, out of fricking nowhere https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KLiCOSP-co
My favorite track, sounds like it came from Falcom
this song is so nostalgic. feels like it came from mega man to me
>soundtrack made out of royalty-free music
>is the best OST in recent years
ASTLIBRA is love, ASTLIBRA is life.
>major plot event/twist happens
>dubsteb starts playing
The OST really shouldn't work but it does
>tfw when I pirated the game on pc first before buying it on Switch, but the DLC isn't coming on Switch until a later date
Frick
I pirated it on switch before buying on steam
really wish I could play it handheld but I'm not waiting
Shillpill me on the base game
OK I'm kinda interested
That sounds neat. I might wait to see if it goes on sale with this DLC.
Absolute japkino timetravel frickery with protag that practices "bros before hoes" but still saves his busty childhood girlfriend while killing gods and demons left and right
one of my ten favorite games on steam
Do you like Murumasa or vanillaware? It's 2D combat with the most satisfying progression of loot and weapons I've ever seen, and a storyline that is balls to the fricking wall insane, music that is divine, please just play the free demo and you'll see.
>Do you like Murumasa or vanillaware
I didn't play Muramasa because >Vita but I liked Dragons' crown on PS4 and Leifthrasir so I will give this a try. It looks kinda jank visually but a good jank. I will trust you because Fuyi was a good fricking game and anyone who likes it probably has good taste.
the graphics are the game's weakest element by far. but even then they're not terrible and can create a compelling image from time to time.
Frick I meant to type Furi
it's tough to pick achievements for that window because the pictures for them have to be visually striking and legible. Some of my favorite games have no good achievement pics.
I vastly prefer brief games that have tons of action. Witcher 3, most sandbox games, anything from atlus, games that run in excess of 60 hours are a buzz kill for me. Astlibra is the only long game that I enjoyed consistently and solidly.
Yeah I tried BG3 but honestly I think I'm bouncing off of it because the game is too fricking long. I tend to drift away from games longer than 40, maybe 50, hours tops. There are some exceptions.
Anyway I've heard enough about the game to wishlist it to wait on a sale at least.
BG3 is an example I forgot to include. It's ok but way too time consuming. It's on the same level as witcher 3. Both games stack enomrous clout but I would never EVER play either game again, nor can I in good faith recommend them knowing how much of the time I spent slogging through buzz kill moments.
defining features of the game: maplestory esque combat, linear story line with many mysteries that starts out as 'villain of the week' with some overarching plot breadcrumbs sprinkled about.
surprisingly charming characters. a fairly good soundtrack.
the main things propelling you through the game is the plot intrigue and the surprisingly deep player build system married to kinetic action gameplay. many weapons have exp tied to them and filling this exp bar gives abilities you can turn on and off like ff9 abilities or paper mario badges. the overall moveset for the player is not that large but the rpg systems (abilities, spells, stats) are. it is one of the few games i think actually earns the action rpg moniker. while the game has a lot of what we might call filler, it's there to enrich your attachment to the world and its characters and make the final moments of the game more impactful because of your investment.
it's great. one of the best games of its year for sure. just try the demo and see if you think it's passably interesting. know that the game just keeps getting better and better post demo.
Doujin solo dev teams up with Vanillaware veteran to create modern Ys 3 but the plot is Xenogears mixed with Legacy of Kain. During the 3rd chapter you kill the god and then the game escalates from here.
2D Ys meets Gurren Lagann
Oh shit, I never made that connection. I guess the Demiurge in astlibra did have the same agenda as the antispiral from Gurren Lagann, and considering this game started development around the time TTGL aired, then I wouldn't be surprised if the anime inspired the plot of the game.
>and considering this game started development around the time TTGL aired
Frick. I've watched TTGL with Ganker, now I'm 36. Make it stop, please.
The last time Ganker was good was 2012 when there were daily medaka box and Nichibros threads. I want to go back.
+Chrono Trigger
>randomly appears
>the DLC is coming later this week!
O-okay then
>randomly appears
Nah, we knew it's coming for quite a while now, just no date was given until now
I know but the release date was revealed in a random time
KEPT ME WAITING HUH?
So uh… are Gau and Lisa… you know?
No, when she's older she acts more like his tard wrangler and mostly makes fun of him
I tried to like the game, just beat the intro dungeon and got to the city, the dragon boss of the dungeon was easy as frick but had 99999999HP, it took me like 10 mins of wailing on him with magic and a big sword. I started the game in hard mode.
It this what the game is about?
do you get some different/meaty combos for any weapon or its all just the same swipes but with a longer range?
The music is ok.
Hard only starts somewhat hard, it gets easier later.
You do get a lot of weapons with different weight and speed, and more summons, and some skills, but ultimately you'll be whacking and hacking eneimes throughout the game.
I'd say it's worth sticking at least through chapter 3-4, once the story escalates a bit.
you pick up technique skills from the weapons themselves so you're encouraged to craft/buy and master every item you can
spend on the force grid to unlock more possession spells
later bosses won't be as tanky but there'll be a lot more attacks coming at you
Yeah there are different movesets you learn. Like different ways to block, parry, dodge etc as well as different slashing moves like Zero on megaman X games
I love how postscript feels like a fix-it fanfiction (in a very positive way), was hyped when the chapter started with Karon going "yeah we're saving everyone this time hop on b***h"
Karon during the game:
>Okay MC, we're gonna use the scales this once and never again. We shouldn't be dealing with this kind of power. Who knows what'll happen?
Karon during postscript:
>MC... Get the scales!
>spam the frick out of the scales in postgame, consequences be damned
>earn your happy ending, everything worked out, guess we were worried for nothing
>there actually were very real consequences to using the scales and you only realize that in the end
I DON'T CARE ABOUT ANULIS JUST GIVE ME MOMMY ASTRAEA PLEASE BRING HER BACK AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Astraea was kind of a b***h, I don't really buy the whole "I was just pretending for your own good! for real!"
humanity kind of deserved it anyway though
Even if you failed to beat her the world would soon reset anyways, she never had any intention of wiping out humanity especially since the whole point of the Project was to raise a human that's strong enough to defeat Geas. She drops the genocidal facade in her boss fight too where she tells you to prove that humans are as wonderful as she had believed
The MC never finds out what happens to Astraea, only the Great Sage knows she sacrificed herself for humanity's future
It's a bittersweet final twist, I clocked her as being a boss fight and hating humanity upon her first appearance, especially with all the talk about never making deals with gods, so it surprised me to learn that she never stopped believing in humanity despite what they did to her and that her fight was just testing whether you'd make her impending sacrifice worthwhile
I'm kind of conflicted about it. One on hand, I really appreciated the basic theme of the main game: "you're taking other people's treasure when protecting your own". Everything was going reasonably well until MC decided to use the scales selfishly. By choosing to bring back his dead childhood friend, he set into motion a chain of events that destroyed everything he had built up, cost him most of his current friends and the place he belonged, locked him into a ruined future for good and gave him no alternative other than trying to make the best of the shitty situation. It was the most blatant display of "actions have consequences", and the game absolutely nailed the execution.
And then for Postscript Karon basically goes: "All the suffering we went through? Frick that. Let's go get our happy ending" and it's the most based shit ever. I don't like how it seems to stomp over the message of the base game, but at the same time I really admire the lengths the MCs are willing to go to earn their happiness.
>I don't like how it seems to stomp over the message of the base game
Indomitable human spirit + power of friendship > muh consequences
Think of it this way: that is the message people try to impose on the MC, not the game actual message. Besides, Astrea plan hangs on the MC actually saying frick it and trying to solve everything.
>goddamn the grow tree is getting annoying why are the lines getting so fricking twisty in this spo-
>-dev spelled out the title
kino namedrop
>female MC
played the first, shan't play this
Don't you have an H game thread to shit up with your autism?
don't you have a janny application to slave over only to get rejected, fat frick moron?
>female protag
Fricking no.
>its a roguelike dlc
So im guessing its going to be very light on the story and much more focused on gameplay this time? Id be okay with that the ending to the game was already very fricking satisfying
'ate demons
'ate future
'ate gaia thorns
'ate goblins
luv karon
luv anulis
luv slaughtering demons
simple as
>'ate future
but the future has /ourguy/
Yeah, I guess future is ok once it gets fixed
Wasn't there one timeline or something where he gets assassinated by the mecha girl? What was that about? Was that a different timeline or is it just never brought up again? It was a dark cutscene so you don't see anything. I honestly don't remember what this guy's deal was.
no, you're getting it wrong. nagumo is thrown into prison of going against orders and the mecha girl saves him so he can fulfill his purpose on astraea's plan.
No wonder I got it wrong, the SFX was totally misleading. It sounded like a gunshot.
>I honestly don't remember what this guy's deal was.
Literally "I saw it in a dream lmao" the character. Ranker felt pretty underdeveloped so I have no idea what her deal is besides being devoted Astraea, but I assume it was just a fakeout and she helped him escape since she knew that the person he helped would one day save her goddess.
It's implied he's descended from the old couple with the demon dog, since you save their grandson to continue their lineage, and Nagumo helps the protag because a dog told him to do so in his dreams.
>Female protagonist
I will now play your game
>future Black folk didnt realize they're on a giant fricking flat floating earth
maybe they did? It could have just not come up.
Can't you only get past the edge of the world if you had the royal israeliteel? They might just have accepted that the only way out was up into space.
they did though, they were transporting people over to other "worlds" but it was expensive and only those with tickets could take the journey. remember Anulis' aunt?
Astlibra has the Chaddest most fricking determined to save everyone MC I ever saw.
Just came to say Astlibra is the best game ever made.
Original was good, gaiden has female protag and is automatic trash
I respect the dev's dedication to make you fight against giant busty women multiple times.
Being a chad isn't without its hurdles.
Anyone else just obsessed with this game? Everyday I look up if there are any new vids on YouTube to see the reaction others have in my favorite moments. Sadly there are not many videos and often they just don't really comment much which sucks
Isn't hard the best all-around difficulty?
I thoroughly enjoyed the game on hard, yeah
Gets even too easy towards endgame, but overall I felt it was ok
What would you suggest? I'm pretty decent at action games
Well impossible is pretty much a on-hit-ko for you, and I have not tried hell yet, so maybe that. Note you can turn down difficulty at any time you want but not turn up.
>Bought this game on a whim a few months ago
>Ended up being one of my favorite games for 2023
I hope Gaiden is as good as the main game
Let's be real guys. All-stars was the most kino moment
Dragon form Karon and Nushi - Polin should've been possession spells
I hope for some unique weapons combos in dlc.
AWWWWWW YEAH I just finished the game not too long ago.
The Baker's daughter was soloing multiple bosses, what possible hijinks are they going to get up to? In the game Polin mentions that they were going out every day to hunt "monsters that have been larger than normal lately."
>end of evolution is godhood
>only 2 game series ever explore this kino concept and they're both niche autismfests
Which games?
Marionette
Kuro or Shiro?
Man, this game really is a labor of love, the guy has been working on it for what, 20 years already? God bless his soul, the man found his Sistine Chapel.
And he has pretty good taste. He is a tighs guy
dropped the first one after hints of troony shit
There's no troony shit, the game is 100% pure high octane testosterone. The MC has an androgynous girly face, but there is zero question about his manhood, and all women want him, even a pair of dykes.
>even a pair of dykes.
Because he looked hot while using Kuro's clothes.
He's a mountain of muscle and even Karon commented on how his face was the only reason he could pass because of how burly he is. The dykes saw those muscles and began to turn straight on the spot, they just didn't know it yet. If they found out he was a man, they'd have still wanted that Big MC dick.
shouldn't have included a line about wanting to be a girl at the start, I might not have refunded it
Hey if you can bring me every weapon in existence when I'm not testing you or whatever, that'd be cool. Gods? Oh yeah those guys too, they're around here somewhere, go beat them up and get their weapons for me.
Which is the worst God fight and why it's the fairy lady?
t. Did it super early
i had a lot of trouble with the dragon for some reason.
the fairy and her bombs were fricking annoying
They're all pretty bad fights honestly.
>DPS race that isn't threatening at all outside of the instant kill fail state
>Dragon with his bullshit petrify move
>Fairy and her damage clouds appearing everywhere
>magic resonates stronger in women
>greates magic user is a man
i bet he's a virgin
Sure thing pops, brb
what is his endgame
Bringing gacha to alien planets
spreading gacha gacha throughout all time
you WILL pull the gacha
Having the comfiest shop theme
Saving your ass while in godforsaken dungeons.
>wear Kuro's dress when rescuing Shiro
>she calls you a weird pervert
She can call me whatever she wants as long as she plants her sweaty soles on my face
Not my fault they provide superior leg movement.
I had the same question about the NTR dream, it never comes up again. Either the dev's fetish or just showing that MC was nervous about whether it would all work out.
>two brothers didnt properly meet
damn
>mc basically looks like his mother
>brother is too moronic to ask himself why this dude looks similar to his mother
Wait, what? Who are you talking about? MC was an orphan wasn't him? Are you talking about prime minister? What makes you think they are brothers?
>What makes you think they are brothers?
during the flashback the mother said that the prime minister had a younger brother, not to mention she looks just like the mc
also her mentioning that she's a last descendant from an ancient civilization who went against the space b***h supports the theory that the mc is also a descendant, because no mere mortal human could do all this shit at all
>no mere mortal human could do all this shit at all
What about /ourboy/ Gau?
>Gau
is a siscon, nuff said
In the flashback, the Prime Minister is also mistaken for a girl.
What was the point of the NTR dream and the dream where Anulis is an ogre woman
Fact that MC is fricking obsessed with her. What a weirdo.
>travels through time and space and fights Gods to save her
>except if his crow bro might be in trouble, than he ditches her in a heartbeat even while under the impression that she's pregnant
If Karon actually was Anulis it would be a generational love story
>lose his crow
>realize he cant even fricking sprint
>frick that, lets get him back
Gotta get that golden ending, the girl can wait while I do some time travel frickery.
>except if his crow bro might be in trouble, than he ditches her in a heartbeat even while under the impression that she's pregnant
Anulis really took that to the heart kek
I filled that b***h with love, she can deal with it. Thanks for the Super Ultimate Laser Blade Muramasa I guess.
It's already a generational love story.
Platonic love between two bros is something womeme will never understand.
Anulis might've been MC's first ever friend and love interest, but by the start of the game's story Karon had been MC's best bro and dad substitute for the past 8 years, and even sacrificed himself to let him be with Anulis. That would've undoubtedly left a bad taste in MC's mouth after all the shit they went through together.
>karon is MC's dad
>anulis is karon's mom
>MC got groomed from boyhood to become her bf due to a time paradox
To show how down bad MC is.
I remember seeing a tweet from Keizo where he stated what he wanted to convey with this and he also admitted that it failed
And what was it that he wanted to convey?
>NTR dream
Why do I not remember this?
It shows up once and is never brought up again.
Honestly even though it was a dream, her reasons for falling in love with him made a lot of sense, she can stay with him, MC will do just fine with either Kuro or Shiro.
I'd joke about him claiming all the girls but we know he stayed pure for his future gf
I hope the baker's daughter can meet the Eliza's lesbian duo on the DLC and have a threesome.
I hope she has a shrine to MC in her room and she ends each chapter by jerking off furiously.
I hope the lesbian duo become giant monster girls so the baker's daughter can kill them.
Frick, I need to stop buying new games and finish the ones that I have like this game. I've been sitting on chapter one for months because I keep putting it off to play the newer games that are catching my interest.
>First timing the game
>Kuro gets sick
>Talk to npcs and I can ask them to look after her
...who do I pick. The peddler is fat and old and we all know how that usually works, but he might also just be an endearing grandpa and I'm getting fake out'd and the inn lady will just prostitute out her unconscious body.
Makes no difference, you have to talk to one specific person anyway. You just get some extra dialogue.
Oh ok.
I did NOT want my insanely hot friend I just slept with at a love hotel to show up again with some "that NPC you picked abused the shit out of me" dialogue.
Absolutely don't miss on choosing the little girl
there is only one option
As the others said there is only one real option, but you can try everyone else for new dialogue
The "nun"
you can do everybody, nun is the actual choice to progress and everything else is funny flavor text
dont worry about these sorts of missables and frick-upables in this game, theres only one in (spoiler) chapter 6, you need to have Sheero with you by the time you finish the chapter.. And even if you get it wrong, just load a save and check the other outcome. its good that theres so many save slots
Story sounds awesome. So, if you like Vance, Wolfe, Burroughs, Howard, Dunsany, Merritt, and Grimms for fantasy, will it impress?
i unironically think he looks cool with the long hair wig.
i eventually switched to the lion wig tho.
does anyone remember where you get strawberries from?
I think you can get it from demon castle onwards. But its a lot easier to get on Tokyo
The weirdest thing is how the first magic rod is a god-tier item that can carry the whole playthrough because how the damage scales differently
>You can equip the big ass fricking hammer with a shield without having to use a single magic crystal
I think it is an oversight, but whatever
yes, abuse the shit out of it.
>game features your fetish
Reminder that when asked about what he wanted to become, the MC said he wanted to be a girl.
Im at the ""final"" chapter, updating my libra now that i have all the pans, and only now i found out you can set different icons for the MYSET thingy.
I never knew that until you mentioned it.
I probably won't be able to play it on release, and I already forgot most of the story after putting 100+h in like two weeks, but I'm definitely buying this day 1.
Also, if anyone didn't know, the game's solo developer, KEIZO, worked on this alone for over 10 years while also being a 9-5 japanese salaryman. The "revision" in the title is because the regular version of the game was only released in jap doujin game conventions.
At some point I stopped trying to keep track of the timelines and just sat along for the ride. Oh that dude's alive now? Cool.
>no more libra after the gaiden
I'd love for Keizo to make another game with a real team behind him but accept that a game this soulful is only a one time thing.
Does demo progress carry over to the full game?
I'm currently at the dragon boss, is that the end of the demo?
No. Most players recommend to not play the Steam demo. There's a Demo option in the full game, but that's a tutorial, and you must play that firsthand before starting the game proper.
>you must
It's completely optional
And it sucks as a tutorial
, the game explains everything in the main game anyways
that demo was like awful as a first introduction to me. The normal game itself is a perfectly great tutorial. just start with the full game
>why is it awful
random overdesigned background monster as the game immediatelly dumps the possession skill use on you.
it's better to play the demo in the full game after you beat the main game, honestly
the demo troll me insanely hard with the story, i trough the story will be about dreams and shit
yeah but that part where it's finally relevant 40 hours later was pretty cool
The demo is fricking weird. It's really only good for trying out controls and getting a feeling for the battle system. I would actually say that the demo throws too many items at you and you only end up being confused if something is good or not.
I'm talking about the demo where you get to play the first few hours, not the one where you get to try out lategame gear or something
the demo just drops you in without explanation and just lets you hit stuff. it'll let you know immediately whether you like the gameplay i suppose.
>why does the background keep morphing to weird, random, different places?
>it'll make sense later just hit the demons
post yfw
>Oh wow, this cave dragon has a frickload of health, I bet this is a scripted fight I have to lose huh
>Die
>Game Over, Retry?
>mfw
is this dlc roguelite-ish? i see them mention randomized maze elements and i see some people on the steam forums saying it's a roguelite. i would be much less interested in the dlc in this case.
seraphic blue hijack
holy based
bene cute vene!
I still tear up whenever I think about this game's ending. Wished the other "blue" games were translated. I wonder what ever happen to the dev after his disappearance. I hope he's doing fine.
Is this a waifu2x upscale? I was looking for some HQ Seraphic art to use as a Steam grid cover.
Nope. Original image from pixiv. /en/artworks/84339450
I was planning to play it after I finished Kowloon but now Astlibra Gaiden is coming out before I'll even be able to finish that.
>never heard of this b4
>it's allegedly a great game
Wtf, is this some /jp/ only stuff? I also just learned of Ruina and Elona too.
ruina is korean though, but still amazing
it IS getting a JP dub rerelease soon though...for the PS4 and shitch
hopefully it comes to pc too, i wanna replay it without hearing asiatic voice actors...
>only just learned of Elona
it's one of the most popular roguelikes (as in literally Like Rogue) around, and it's long awaited sequel is around the corner too.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2135150/Elin/
Are you one of those west-only bros that are just now learning about decades of amazing doujin games? Because even the porn is PEAK soul.
>Are you one of those west-only bros that are just now learning about decades of amazing doujin games?
Yes, tell me some good games senpai.
monster girl quest followed by monster girl quest paradox rpg
go look up /mggg/ on /vg/ to get started
Irisu Syndrome, Kreisereise, Touhou Labyrinth 2, ゆりかごのそら, 迷宮のミウPLUS, and for the most soulful porn: Repure Aria 1/2
Honestly theres a shitload of touhou doujin games that are all strangely high quality with detailed mechanics.
Fall into a dream...
Deeper than deep...
Need a price.
oh frick yeah, nice
is this a standalone dlc or do you need to start a new save for it, any details?
Should I play the old or new translation?
see
if you don't want some minor sovlful jank go with old
if you want a smoother english experience go with new
old translation is PS1 jank tier levels of SOUL
but the new one isn't bad and the DLC will be translated the same way so its up to you
Oh frick that's nowhere near enough time to replay the main game, especially with the Next Fest still going
>astrea boss
>first phase is a moronic moronic waiting game where it just takes forever for no reason and you get punished for trying to have any fun
>next phase
>dragon with 3.4 million health, okay
>damage sponge with like no engaging attacks
>deal 2 million health
>get borderline oneshot by an attack that didnt render properly when coming from off screen
no checkpoint
The chapter was so kino until this. why did it insist on having the most dogshit boss i have ever seen in a videogame with absolutely zero compare?
Just use a long spell to evade the nuke, and for the first phase just use a long weapon.
>just use a long weapon
>except for the part where the boss is ivulnerable 3/4 the time despite having the equivalent of like 1 million health given its high ass defense stat
wow anon this advice really helped
You can actually see the mines, simply stop attacking them bro.
what the frick does have to do with the main problem
the problem is that she is ivulnerable while placing mines, which means you spend 1/4 of your time waiting for the "hey now you can hit me" move.
now i must mention that mines actually get deployed instantly upon teleport before their model renders, which means you can be hit instantly if you swing midair or summon anything that shoots automatically
>1/4
sorry meant to say 3/4
This is such an abhorrent waiting game that it makes Doom Eternal's Dark Lord's green flash simulator look like an excellent fast paced boss.
Skill issue, the mines are perfectly fair and balanced, even if you do trigger them, with a long weapon you won't get hit you can unga bunga
okay you homosexual but thats not the actual thing im complaining about
there is a mandatory 923402 hour cutscene before an extreme damage sponge boss, where you must wait for the cutscene to stop placing mines before you can deal any damage. it was horrible
after i killed it, i had zero doubts that it was by far the worst boss i have ever seen in any videogame ever, and i am saying this by a magnitude of at least five times worse than its predecessor
lmao just stop dying, for me Astraea went down on a single try, not even the nuke got me because I preventively guard then use the shark spell to evade and back into guard, which completely nullifies the nuke.
Astraea was one of the better fights in the game, I was also using her lance, which only made the fight more kino.
>for me Astraea went down on a single try,
yeah because you had overly grinded by a frickton and playing on a lower difficulty
even having died only 2 times it was exceeding levels of dogshit
>Astraea was one of the better fights in the game,
yes you already did a good enough job of convincing me you have no taste or braincells, no need convincing me any further
I played on hard.
>relatively lower
owned liberal
>relatively lower
Relative goalpost movement.
How's that keizo dick?
played her on impossible and first tried her, pretty sure i was using longinus, and i dont remember a single thing being difficult about her, sounds like a skill issue and that you need to play more games if you had actual trouble, the only real hard bosses were the multi boss fights
when in doubt, just whip out the black dragon laser summon, instant cheese button
That shit carried me through a few rough spots, not sorry at all. The game is pretty hard at times.
Yea the lategame wasn't hard at all thanks to those summons. You can shit out so much damage and get so much invincibility
People that complained about the DPS check god battle missed the point, it was clearly an homage to Odin in Final Fantasy, put a smile on my face, personally, the whole god hunting sidequest did, feels like forever since I played a game with optional end game side quests that were fun to do and offered meaningful rewards.
>the other gods
3-5 tries each
>that fricking c**t dragon
47 tries
yes i KNEW the gimmick
i KNEW exactly what i had to do
BUT EVEN SO
True, the dragon is a fricking butthole and has a frick ton of HP too.
I still don't know how to deal with his petrify attack, I just got lucky and had him not use it more than once on the attempt I beat him.
>I still don't know how to deal with his petrify attack
iirc, you had to stop attacking and perfectly block to avoid stunned otherwise he'd just oneshot you
you had to time it using the "beats" or something like that
I can't remember exactly, but I think you must let him petrify you, but quickly get out of the petrify and immediately block in order to avoid the instakill.
Nice, can't wait to watch it on youtube!
>kuro confesses her love to you before the final dungeon, wants to stay with you forever
>you turn around and feed her love to anulis
Ok buddy, that made me feel bad
I gotta get my magic laser sword man.
you DID beat the final boss with a fully boarded stick right Ganker?
How does Astlibra compare to castlevania portrait of ruin, order of ecclesia, and ys8? Those are the unassailable kamige of ARPGs, if you dont agree dont reply
The biggest surprise of this game for me was going in thinking
>Well I'm sure the characters and plot will be whatever but the demo gameplay was fun so I'll buy
when both the characters and story really grabbed me despite being pretty simplistic
Portrait of Ruin is my favorite Castlevania and I like Astlibra more
I only played Ys VII and VI so no comment on the Ys comparison
Astlibra isn't even a metroidvania, there's no map and areas are short and mostly straightforward except for a detour or two to solve a puzzle to progress. I guess closest would be POR since that one also has individual levels as opposed to 1 connected map? But that's about the only similarity.
YS8 is fricking 3D so no idea what you're even getting at. Closest may be YS3 (the original 2D, not the remake) but with a much more robust equipment and ability system. Your main attack is basic button mashing, but you do learn different combinations for ground and airborne attacks, plus you got dash, parries, blocking, spells, etc.
What a dirty bawd.
Siro wasn't here for me in this scene because she was dead...it was really emotional for me when I got to see her again in the Mage tower timeline
That dude was extremely based
>becomes a dictator and takes over the world because they let his mother die
>second time around he's smart enough to not repeat his actions and join the MC's group instead
>gives the princess' underwear to his little bro
I wonder if we'll see him again in gaiden
Standing paizuri correction is needed here.
>just realized that I pirated the game this whole time
you should buy it, keizo deserves the money
just bought 200$ worth of computer parts to upgrade, I'll try buying it later, also does your pirated saved file work on the steam version?
>me too, and I can't be fricked to replay the whole thing over again because it was the only thing I could mentally play after a particularly nasty hospital stay
i'm hoping the dlc release has a discounted bundle so i can support the dev without waiting for the spring or summer sale.
For me? it's yuki onna
My harem
Chapter 4 gets a lot of shit for being extremely horny but I thought the lighthearted and fanservice bits make a good contrast to how fricked up the chapter becomes. Also what the FRICK is Meldine's problem, all the other gods besides the guy trapped in the Sage's tower are pretty chill and keep to themselves
Any benefit to the PC version or am I good to play it on Switch?
switch base game is fine
gaiden's not releasing on switch yet though
It runs at 14 fps on the switch in 360p
>dlc
>not a separate complete game
booooooooooo
it still adds like 20 hours of content - he even expanded on it, it's much longer than the original gaiden version
I seriously wish I could turn off skills so they just wouldn't come out ever.
You can, that's preceisely what seal coins are for
It took him like 10+ years to finish this one, cut the guy some slack.
Any screenshot where Shiro will sit on MC face and farts?
So if I remember that right, demons are people from the future sending their consciousness to inhabit and animate creature corpses in the past to cull down population. And if that's the case Karon is also someone from the future that animated the dragn demon body?
No. demons are AI created by future humans
>AI
Ah, alright. Maybe I need to replay, forgot that part.
Don't ask for spoilers dude.
Demons are the animated corpses, time travel is sending information/consciousness since they didn't figure out how to move things physically. Specifically, the Anubis's system's consciousness housing Anulis is the only thing that made it to the past to regulate population, and the smartphone transmission in Postscript with Nagumo/Krishna, so Karon is a new life entirely.
You don't need to replay it entirely, I think the research lab PC right before its boss has that kind of info on how it works.
Demons were vatborn inside the Demon King Castle. Even Anulis' body was vatborn, and holy shit I was not expecting
her clothes being part of her vatborn body to be a plot point to asspull her back from the dead in the epilogue.
Anulis was with you all the time damn
I 100% the game and I don't remember what you guys are talking about, qrd?
After the dream god obliterates Anulis' soul at the end of the game and MC goes super saiyan on him, everyone thought Anulis would never wake up like in the normal ending (didn't give her all the LOVE), but if you gave her all the LOVE she wakes up because someone
(implied to be Astraea) salvaged her soul from her ribbon back into her body.
I heard that if you beat all the monsters or something when they're attacking the town, you get to interact with the baker's daughter, but I haven't seen any footage or dialogue. What exactly happens?
You need a ranged weapon. If you go all the way to the left, you'll see multiple boss characters behind a barrier fighting someone off-screen. If you kill them all and go talk to her (she's hiding behind a tree because she's shy and in love with you), she'll give you some bread and the first LOVE piece.
?t=581
Get bread, Love, and glance at her knockers.
should be possible to destroy that tree as well, afaik
Tree can't be destroyed.
oh? well that's a shame
Be funny if you tried to destroy it and she parried you every time.
>shy busty bakers daughter is actually stronger than demongod slaying, time traveling, god blessed protag
Guys, what the frick was this guy thinking? That guy who kicked the shit out of a god-killing AI? Yeah, I'm gonna go kill his wife.
I don't even remember what his deal was. He's just really butthurt that you grabbed the Scales I guess.
>i'm sure to win because my stats are superior
I think he's a parody of edgefest characters in RPGs, that's the only reason why he does anything.
I was picturing Thunderbolt Fantasy the entire time whenever he showed up.
That guy was super random, and he shows up after you've already beaten some big shit. Like, I felt no threat from him and he was really easy
>guy
>random
By reading the lore on the gods, you could definitely see it coming because you've been dealing with almost all of them during the game.
The one who's missing was the warrior goddess from what I remember and I hope the baker's dlc will elaborate on her more.
The book about gods has 7 entries, mentioning astrea, al-hamis, meldine, geraldine, lieselotte, adolphus and beatrice. We deall with all of them already. Not sure if you have some other book in mind here.
I'm sure I read about an entity/god being the ruler of dreams somewhere and remember asking myself when I'm gonna deal with it because I remember the description being vague compared to the lore of other gods.
I thought that Beatrice was the warrior goddess, my bad, last time I played the game was a year ago, my memory has been playing tricks on me.
the ruler of dreams is the edgy guy in the fog, I think
Warrior goddess is astraea
Astraea is also a war goddess you know
Do they fix the stiff ass animation?
the DLC is not an upgrade to the base game, it's a side story, so no
I got burned out at Star Eaters dungeon and collecting Love after like 70 hours of gameplay. How far am I from True End?
did you collect all of them?
if yes, just the endboss remains and you're done
no I collected like 4
I gotta get back into it...
That's pretty much right before the end
>15 new achievements have been added
AAAAAA, MY 100% COMPLETION IS NOW GONE
you are going to play gaiden and 100% it again anyway
> Recycling recycled assets.
our time has come.
Oh god, please don't tell me the entire DLC is just a rogue-like mode
Yeah Keizo also said there is not really much of a story so I bet for many this dlc will be underwhelming
At the very least there should be fanservice
Eh, the dress up system sounds entertaining enough.
Buy an ad Black person.
>page 10
no
yes, expect more threads after dlc release I guess
Isn't Astlibra basically just Fortune Summoners but with worse stage design and more simplistic combat?
Switch the two around and you'd be correct.
ASTLIBRA also wasn't made for pedophiles, but for men with taste.
Can you link me to some Astlibra parts that aren't terribly flat?
Fortune Summoners has real dungeons and stuff. A respectable world map.
I also think you're being really dismissive of Fortune Summoners's combat.
Fortune Summoners was good, shame that Carpe Fulgur had to butcher it.
>hm, i wonder who carpe fulgar is
>"Carpe Fulgur is a game-localization studio that..."
Ah, I see. Say no more. DEATH TO LOCALIZERS
Worse, they're (probably former) SomethingAwful goons
>the fortune summoner devs (the actual devs, not carpe fulgur) tried to hail mary their game dev dreams with an enhanced fortune summoners remaster
>unlike their initial pretty esteemed success with their original release, the remaster bombed in Japan and I think it lost them money
>and with it their game dev dreams supposedly died, going by their lack activity and last words on the topic
Fug.
why did it bomb in japan? what did the remaster do wrong?
From my understanding. It's just a combination of them waiting over a decade between the original release (which while relatively successful, was hardly a mainstream smash hit), and then lacking the connections or resources to properly market or push their their attempted comeback.
It's sad though. The latest release as far as I understand, should still be the definitive version of the game though. But it's in Japanese.
really sad. game was actually well made even though the AI was pretty brutal sometimes.
Dumb question from a dumbass: is Revision just the same game renamed and expanded?
Pretty much yes
Thanks.
>is Revision just the same game
Yes and no
Its the same game but the old freeware version plays pretty differently. Lot of mechanics are missing or function differently, even weapon animations are kind of jank.
ready for new music ludo
>opening?
>never skipped
I really started missing the "OP plays after every chapter" schtick once I hit the late game.
The only thing that would make this game even more kino would be to add (and remove) characters you've met or will meet in the upcoming chapter.
Indeed. There was a slight change with Anulis, but only that as far as I know
based
i fricking expected that everytime it played.
sad there was nothing new added... missed opportunity for sure
The hardest boss was the optional one beating the gundam in the fight you are supposed to run from tbh. I had a glass cannon saved at that point and couldn't respec.
I think we were all fricked by the "you need to get good NOW" spikes in the future and heaven areas.
>impossible diff
>glass canon
>multi gundam fight
>4 heroes fight
>4 heroes + arch mage + couple arena fight
only the dead can know peace from this evil
IIRC the 4 heroes and generally all human fights are pretty easy once you figure out their simple AI patterns and use the right weapons.
The true hard boss fights have full screen bullshit like that one paralyzing boss.
on impossible with berserk on? you kinda needed a good strategy and perfect execution, having to pay attention to 5 different sources of extremely fast projectiles that instakill you was harder than everything else in the game imo, the only cancer that was comparable was that one room with multiple robots before the boss rush
>4 heroes + arch mage + couple arena fight
oh my FRICK, the absolute ungodly amount of ball busting agony All-Stars gave me was unreal and I was only hard difficulty. I can't imagine the torment you endured on impossible difficulty
This was one of the only few glaring flaws of game I had that come to mind and it was a fricking QoL feature to just let me retry the fight instead of booting me out of the arena every goddamn time.
This pretty much just amounts to git gud lol
you're pretty much forced to use berserk, so any random thing can kill you (doppleganger starts blocking and reflects damage while getting hit? lmao tough luck), low cost spells for invulnerability is the only way to survive all the bullshit, still had fun though
>if the mc decided to leave westwards, he would've had to backtrack all the way back to his cabin
Christ
Whats your hated status effect?
The one that slows you down. Shock or whabreastscalled
Stronger than X is such a good achievement series
On that note, I sure love how the steam cards spoil you on the ingame bosses like Astraea's true form.
I never look at them so I was spared
I wish the screenshots for the game itself didn't spoil the one kino end game boss though
I still can't believed how popular this shitty flash game with mismatched assets, extremely ugly animation and the stiffest gameplay in ages has gotten. I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me all the art was AI generated and just thrown in as is. At least the music is good (even if, again, mismatched).
it's not shit though
It's cute that you think that.
Making animations marginally faster doesn't change the underlying core issues.
>stiffest gameplay
Someone didn't put points into AGI I see.
bruh this looks fricking hideous
once you adjust to it it's not so bad
I'm not gonna pretend it's the most beautiful game to look at but I thought it was charming enough after awhile
You get used to it fast.
Has anything been said on how much the game sold on Switch?
