I've seen early footage of this game labeled as dragon blaze and even some characters seem to be extremely similar if not the same.
I would guess they probably just rebranded it because they decided putting a "2" in the title would deter more people than the name dragon blaze would ever bring in.

The client they put on google play game is literally standalone PC client, it even has its own launcher. The one they will drop 2 weeks later is probably the same thing but without the need to go to the google play page to download it.
So far it feels pretty good to play, though not as tight as a normal game like dragon's crown or as polished as dungeon fightan. Whether i keep playing depends on the gacher and game systems, i guess.

Honestly, the influence Genshin had on this game was only for the worse. I really hope they make some changes with the gacha system in the future because I am really not feeling it in this game.
I sort of get it in extremely high end gachas like Genshin and star rail but this game although definitely well made, doesn't require enough resources to make new characters to justify it. Maybe the resources are much more plentiful than Mihoyo games to make up for it but I doubt it.
I don't think these characters are any less than Mihoyo ones. 2D art of this caliber is really fricking expensive to make. Wouldn't surprise me to discover these Astra characters are even more expensive to make than Genshin ones.
People really don't know how much effort takes to make 2D work of this scope, and it's what may doom it.

Before Genshin, gachas were menu navigation simulators. Any semblance of open world was a pipe dream, exploration was nonexistant and animations were png tier stretched via ms paint, when they existed at all.
Genshin took over the market by having one of the most modern and user-friendly interfaces and gacha systems, with clearly stated rates, pull records, and permanently lasting pity. Most games pre-Genshin did not have pity across banners, and often did not have a "true guarantee", forcing people to FOMO and spend money or risk wasting their saved pulls into a possible dud that left them with a fat middle finger.
Genshin saved a dying, predatory genre by turning it into a legitimate gaming experience and forcing every other company to get on their level in terms of character development, world building and like world of warcraft did back in the day, set standards that are now do or die for the industry. Almost everything people "expect" a gacha to have, comes from Genshin.
Not their fault other companies can't keep up and blame the winners.

No, here's the thing. The games which offer better rates now (they didn't exist before GI), do so exactly because they know the audience will compare their offer with Mihoyo standard. Genshin is forcing other companies to be more generous than they are, because they're the baseline standard, which is a good thing for the players and genre as a whole.
FGO was the quintessential "gacha" and it didn't have pity at all for as long as it existed before the Genshin paradigm shift.
They were only forced to add it in the wake of all of the above.

This part is super badly taught ingame but what you're supposed to be doing is use a character that is not of that element to force the shield before going ham. This is especially prevalent in mono-element teams, for example if you have Sansar and Rani, you'd very likely want to be using Leon to force the blood element shield on an elite so that your Sansar and Rani will do even more damage to them. Light has advantage over Blood. There is an element chart in game too but in general it's Fire -> Poison -> Earth -> Lightning -> Water -> Fire. Light -> Blood -> Darkness -> Light.

So the dailies are for 120? That's already double the standard mihoyo rate. Most likely they copy pasted the mihoyo gatcha system (probably to not confuse normalgays) and will be giving more currency to balance it out. There is also a daily check in that gives you another 5* at the end of the month. If that actually keeps going and is not a one time thing I can see the game potentially being more generous that it initially seems.

I've beaten games that I only rerolled in an then immediately dropped without playing like That Time I got reincarnated as a slime. I've beaten games that gave you multiple 5 star pick tickets at launch like Grand Chase mobile, just to discourage you from doing it. I've beaten games like Touhou Lost Word which bans your Ip address for rerolling too many times.

I never played it but I assume as a AFK game they shower players in rolls so that makes rerollers and gachabrains happy but then you need 20 dupes for the characters to be usable endgame? I've always hated those dogshit systems that try to pass off as generous but they actively lock you out from doing endgame content unless you pay up.
Yep, that's true for AFK. They also guarantee that you'll get every unit which isn't untrue but it'll take awhile. The game does hand out so much pulls constantly and you can tailor the banners that you pull on so far. It's easy to appeal to a wider audience with that. Veda still needs some work imo and iirc the Steam reviews on it are not good, but that's every gacha on it I guess.
Unfortunately I feel the routine will make things quickly old, especially if the upkeep required is daily

I think the actual income is not bad, but they fricked up by having an awful honeymoon phase. The game should feel generous at the very start to hook players in, this doesn't. So inevitably a lot of normalgays are getting filtered because of it.

And even if the pool is decent, it's still tempting to reroll for something extra on top of that guarantee.
The real winning method is just to make rerolls painless, add an easy way to reset your account and let people go at it like crazy. Most starter characters are obsoleted eventually and whales will treasure their time more than their money. Plus, letting people reroll a bunch generates hype and exposure because you get amazing rolls posted all over the internet which makes the game seem more generous than it is.

The reroll process is pretty average, people are just making a big deal out of nothing as always.
You get like 30+ standard rolls per reroll and 9 limited rolls as well. So it's really not that bad at all.

I just get the feeling that most people who tried this game are not the target audience anyways. Most gacha players prefer auto combat or semi auto combat so they're already filtered at the action combat. Enemies actually hurt you in this game too rather than being mobs that exist to die in 0.5 seconds and with how the game is trying to copy elements of "souls-like" they're filtering out gacha casuals who have been handheld by Mihoyo for far too long.
The game feels like it is targeting gameplaygays - however gameplaygays are highly triggered by gacha/micro transactions so in the end it feels like they're just too mixed in their approach. The amount of gachagays who double up as gameplaygays is too niche. You either cater to gachagays by showering them with rolls and make the gameplay as casual as possible or appeal to gameplaygays by getting rid of gacha elements and release a full standalone game.

Really hope they clean up their act. The game's art is gorgeous and the combat can be fun but everything surrounding it is a slog.
Yeah that's a cool feature. Way too many gachas are afraid of covering up their characters faces but I want my knight characters to be properly armoured.
I am in the same boat as you guys. It's weird how much more likeable they get with helmets on. In general I wish way more games allowed this for both male/female characters. It's a little sad how rare it is to get something akin to an actually armored Knight

It might last a week maybe, I've been in slower threads before for games that died even when they moved to /vmg/ like the general for Higan Eruthyll or Illusion Connect. Hell, some generals with games on life support like Counterside and Alchemy Stars still have generals. It'll just be hard to get people to visit the thread without being an obnoxious shitposter shilling the game in other gacha generals. I don't really browse /vg/ gacha generals that much anymore so I'm not sure if we already have someone who's been shilling the game in the more larger generals like /gig/ and /bag/. However as long as we have people bumping the thread we can live in /vg/.
