WC was at its core a shit normie friendly rts with all the aesthetic ripped from warhammer because they lost the IP rights at the last minute and I'm tired of the millennials of this board parroting that it was some great olden gem.
The only reason it lasted more than a 1 game was because of the LAN so other normies could get together with their normie friends.
The campaign was unironically great, and the multiplayer and custom games were nothing less than amazing and blew other RTS the frick out in terms of replayability.
WC3 was an S-tier game, and if you disagree you're probably just mad that no one likes your favorite and very dead RTS game.
maybe middle of wod, but for me i liked the garrison, it was an easy gold farm fest, it provided for my spectral tiger mount and i liked the blackrock raid. that was fun
As someone who played classic for me its tbc. Vanilla was all about socialising and exploration, in tbc all that is left are neckbeard grinding same few dungeons stuck in their homosexual guilds
pretty much, you spent time exploring and finding cool shit to trying to be as optimal and min maxed based off some gay's guide. don't walk outside of this predesignated line or you are trash
During WoTLK >Welfare gear introduced >Dungeon Finder introduced >Daily quest introduced >Game started being geared towards grinding mundane activities for rewards instead of epic quest lines >Add-ons made a lot of the game trivial >Gearscore became a more prominent thing in raids which isn't a problem until somebody cheats the system and joins your raid in shit gear their addon says is good
Basically, Blizzard drew a large crowd which they suspected was full of "casuals" so gradually they started bending aspects of the game towards mobile "features" that are designed to retain your attention for maybe an hour a day before you run out of shit to do and are forced to wait it out until the next day.
Casuals ruined the fricking game.
Immediately after retail launch of vanilla. Burning Crusade and Lich King ruined the game with instant dungeon finder and blizzard not only designed the worlds and dungeons to be navigated with flying mounts now but they also removed roads and ways to actually get to places and you must use flight to get there like the wrath gate has upper and lower levels and is basically just there to be giant rooms with doors leading to different dungeons and raid dungeons and it gets dizzy just thinking about which dungeon you are going in which is why it sucks from a real world exploration perspective, but in the vanilla days they had to actually work hard on the entrance to the dungeons and hand craft it so it felt memorable going in, not like some fidget spinner game to encourage you to use the dungeon finder. But if you like, you can say that lich king made the mages satisfied. But it’s the worst expansion just like frozen throne was the worst wc3 expansion.
patch 1.12 introduced crossrealms to battlegrounds, which removed all of the realm community rivalry from the grind
wotlk with its baby dungeons and their quotas
warlords of draenor killed the end game for me by pruning all of the classes and changing how batching worked
and battle for azeroth killed low level content half way through with nerfs and shutting down the 59 bracket
in hindsight the honor system should have never been released because pvp was the testing ground for all of the destructive systems that got introduced into the whole game
fighting over stuff like thorium nodes is unironically all the game needed for pvp
It like how Microsoft believes you like windows when they break Themes and start taking over the Desktop with OneDrive which connects it to the internet and starts making your desktop lag. And they take it as that you enjoy it the longer you keep and use Microsoft edge and one drive basically. If Microsoft Edge ever reactivates it starts installing all their socialist internet apps.
when Blizzard became Activision.
It was never good. WC3 was good, and WoW stole it's best parts.

bump
TBC
In Wrath
started in TBC but fully changed in Cata
it ended with the release of AQ40 actually. MC, Onyxia, and BWL are the only good raids, then it started overthinking it.
aq40 was epic, cthun was a very fun boss
maybe middle of wod, but for me i liked the garrison, it was an easy gold farm fest, it provided for my spectral tiger mount and i liked the blackrock raid. that was fun
they have a fricking autobahn?
Cataclysm
cross realm battlegrounds
Interesting opinion
activision
Wotlk
tbc was the last good bit.
wotlk was filled with anti-viking bs, and the rest just get worse.
Once they added 3 bars worth of buttons for every class.
As someone who played classic for me its tbc. Vanilla was all about socialising and exploration, in tbc all that is left are neckbeard grinding same few dungeons stuck in their homosexual guilds
When the beta was over and it became evident that it would not be anything like UO at all.
TBC
WotLK’s last half of patches. Cataclysm was just puppeteering the corpse around.
following up ulduar with trial of the crusader. brutal.
>team bcdxyz
prease understandu
Vanilla once you reach max level.
>another wow thread
wow
>wow
tbc
It wasnt a immediate change but the transition point was WoD.
When furries were added to the Alliance.
when internet DBs could show you every optimal build, raid/dungeon mechanics and secret areas.
This started in tbc and was finished half way through wrath
after that all the mystery was dispelled and wow was no longer an enchanted world

Frozen Throne was the last worthwhile thing to happen to Warcraft.
Warcraft 3
>Cataclysm was 13 years ago
>World has been Cata'd for twice as long as it existed in Vanilla
When the beta ended and we got the full game.
