You don't want that, the gacha models are censored and have black voids instead of upskirt

waste of a good franchise, it'll be the same low effort cash-in gameplay full of p2w bullshit as every japanese tie-in gacha.

the gacha will die within a year, but the series will (barely) survive, and they'll sweep this under the rug like it never happened before trying it again a year and a half down the track.

Ehhh they need to pivot after Ryza carrying them for so long, I don’t mind a shitty gacha in the meantime if it means more time/funding for the next mainline games but if they go the way of Blue Reflection and go 100% into a gacha and let the IP rot then yeah it’s fricked.

If it's a massive success, then there is no need to make actual games that will cost more and bring less.

they'll have to bet everything on the gameplay being good on phones, the censored characters aren't gonna please old time fans, no global release means that their potential market is pretty restricted, so the game will have to be fun to play on a phone to stand out at all

            Anonymous

            >they'll have to bet everything on the gameplay being good on phones
The gameplay is Nelke "exploration". It's DOA.

from the trailer it looks like turn based combat

              >fun to play
It's your standard turn based battler, only thing that will make people keep playing are the characters. Koei will have to abandon their ESG practices if they want the game to stand a chance.

              >standard turn based battler
that's good on a phone though, have you seen the garbage they play on phones? fgo? uma musume? kantai collection? azur lane? alchemy stars is considered a decently fun game to play on the phone, a standard turn based atelier is leagues above all that garbage

                >from the trailer it looks like turn based combat

I don't care about that, every stage has always been just a glorified corridor anyways, firis tried going more open world and got shit on for it, if it's a turn based game where you have your usual basic attack / skill / item options then that's pretty good, on a phone, and it looks like there's an ultimate move in resleria too, which is fine, if that gameplay and the alchemy is involved enough then it'll be way above other phone games in terms of gameplay, as long as it's not laggy, annoying or too easy to exploit, the alchemy system's gimmick this time seems to be that multiple alchemists are synthesizing stuff together, I imagine they all have different abilities and stats that influence the outcome, on the face of it it's fine enough, but it'll depend on the implementation
all in all I think what matters is that the turn based combat and the alchemy are fun and work well, if it's fun to play it'll probably do well, if it's laggy, buggy and too easy to break then it'll probably die

like which games, fgo? uma musume? azur lane? kantai collection? wtf are you talking about, honkai star rail is the closest comparison and resleria is already more involved because of the alchemy system and the ability to use items in battle

                Anonymous

Bro turn-based combat with a few skills on cooldowns is as standard as gachas get, how can you not know this? Try Artery Gear, Revived Witch, the BNHA gacha, the OPM gacha, 7 Deadly Sins X-tasy, or Epic Seven, and that's before adding in the faux-SRPGs that do the same thing but on a grid like War of the Visions, Valiant Force 2, or Langrisser. Stop adding your input on shit you obviously don't know anything about.
As for the alchemy system we already know it's going to be a shitshow because you can only do it a few times a day and the characters are from the gacha so it's going to be a matter of pulling the right characters from the gacha to make the best items instead of being a system of experimentation and optimisation like the mainline games.

The series already died spiritually years ago. I don't think it's possible for Gust to ever come back and make a new game that appeals to me. If they really are working on a proper new console game then they need to announce it and it must be a full new game not related to Ryza garbage in the slightest. Either that or they should try some new IP again.

blue reflection without yuri? how does that make it better. I play BR for the yuri

          Anonymous

          >how does that make it better
From a narrative and creative standpoint, yuri is always an excuse for the lack of substance just like shallow western media uses LGBT content as replacement for good writing
From a business standpoint, yuri fans are very loud but very, very few in number so pandering to them is always a terrible idea. You alienate your potential customer base to pander to two or three loud internet keyboard fetishists.

Just look at Valkyrie Drive; it was Marvelous' try at the yuri market and both the game and anime were a massive failure. Meanwhile their main series Senran Kagura had a healthy lifespan of several console games; the console games only got cut off due to Sony's interference but otherwise we would still get them.
They tried again last year with Samurai Maiden and it was another bomb; meanwhile the current Senran Kagura gacha is doing very well.

            Anonymous

            >yuri is always an excuse for the lack of substance
As opposed to self-insert haremshit? They did it because they think their only option is to pander to the lowest common denominator for gacha, even though Heaven Burns Red proved a successful yuri gacha can be done just fine. Not that it would've worked with Blue Reflection, the issue is the IP itself being too niche and no desperate swerve will move the needle.

              Anonymous

              >As opposed to self-insert haremshit?
Unironically yes. Writers have to put some effort into the writing and the setting so the girls' attraction and affection towards the MC makes sense and the ongoing events and story beats can be written around it.
Yuri doesn't need to do those things because its target audience is happy as long as two female characters interact.

                Anonymous

I hope you didn't write that with a straight face. It's always "I like anon-kun because he's nice and cool". Mel Kishida outright mentioned they had to walk on eggshells to write the MC as the blandest self-insert possible so players could really immerse themselves into him without feeling he'd say something out of line.

                Anonymous

It's true and you know it.
"I like anon-kun because he's nice and cool" is a very dishonest simplification of how character interaction on harem or male mc-centered media goes.
Of course a yuri fan would never understand how good (or at least competent, because there are badly written harems) writing works.

I'm guessing Second Light has actual Yuri, because having played the first game, I was confused by the sheer amount of "yuri game" comments and reviews I read. There is one goddamn lesbian character in that game, and she gets rejected.

Not at all; that's how modern media does things: remove fanservice while ramping up the LGBT content.

The thing that surprises me the most is that you consider Blue Reflection to be a good game.

JP gachage industry is where the worst sort of devs sink down to. There's a reason they're making gacha: being lazy and bad don't sell real games, son, but you might be able to coast through in the gacha market so long as your Art department are good at their job.
Now, for JP only, I can fully understando why the Jap devs really don't want to bother doing Global release after how westoid gatekeepers have spent the last near 20 years now always predictably endlessly shit on JP games, and trying to "correct" them. They just don't want to deal with Californians any more.
