Not him but the focus feels less of an encompassing challenge now and moreso haphazardly placing things around to make areas feel full and it lacks the ambience and compact level design of earlier titles.
The boss fights are undeniably better than older titles in the lens of "oh this is a huge dude i have to have an awesome fight with" but it lost its luster a bit.
What the frick do you mean? Demon souls has maybe some dumb places, but it also has great stuff to discover and small places you didn‘t see at first. Exactly like fricking stormveil castle
Stormveil castle was fricking great. Elden ring open world is still meh. I literally got burned out for weapon gathering and the trophy. I like that you can do quests anytime.
But dark souls1 remains as having the best structure and best lore. The whole skeletons can fully die to holy, the slowly increasing world. All I ever want is this shit but bigger with a new lore.
I played DeS (Remake of course) after Elden Ring and had much better experience. It feels less of a slog when the level itself is a challenge, not just the boss.
Theyre more of a challenge than ER for sure. You need to manage your stamina at least and not greet every enemy with a jump attack for an instant riposte.
I've never been a big fan of boses in vidya in general, they just get in the way of exploration and seldom offer any creative ways to get past them. I'd be perfectly content with the only true boss being the final one.
Ironic because DeS focuses on gameplay more than it predecessors by being a slow and deliberate dungeon crawl rather than a series of cinematic vistas padding out samey boss fights.
Isn't DeS the worst Souls game after DS1? I heard the PS5 remake is better, but doesn't beat DS2 or Bloodborne. I don't care much about Souls stuff as it feels so restrictive with what you can use without breaking the game, but it seems weird how much DeS and DS1 gets praised over DS2 these days
Oh. My friend says that the remake made it much better, something about PvP stuff.
I honestly wish I could have gotten into Souls games, it's just the fact magic breaks the game and that I'm not into pvp stuff that makes it hard to enjoy them. Tried to play DS2 the right way and I just couldn't enjoy it.
remake is worse because omni directional rolling makes the game braindead
Original is better than DS1. PS5 version is literally a tech demo. All it has going for it is muh graphics. The atmosphere, style, sound design, enemy design is far inferior to the original. The PS5 even adds a pause and free cam mechanic so you can cheat and explore the map without putting yourself in danger.
I mean PS5 version still has servers so technically it is better because PS3 doesn't have official servers anymore. As this anon
pc can emulate it exceptionally well and there is a 60 fps patch and private servers
https://thearchstones.com/serverinfo.html
pointed out, there are private servers that you can connect to. You can connect with an emulator or PS3, which doesn't even need to be modded. DeS is probably one of the weaker titles in terms of PVP though due to limited weapon/build variety.

>atmosphere > meme difficulty
I agree but I don't think DeS even has the best atmosphere in the series.
Boletaria is well-designed but not particularly atmospheric
Mines are very hit-and-miss.
Latria is kino, peak of the game but I also don't think it's peak of the series atmosphere wise
Storm is great, but a level below.
Valley is the archetypal prototype that gets mogged by the variants that came after (Blighttown and the Gutter)
I love the Nexus, the music and details. But DS1 and 2 also have terrific hubs.
The funniest part for me when playing the des remake, was all the stuff that were done first there. >gargoyle battle is a copy of maneater >the squid guys are like 1:1 from bloodborne >swamp and the dudes >the thrones from ds3 >firelink shrine beeing the main gathering point, if this would be anything after bb you would be able to explore that place
It‘s like almost everything is something they already did in des lmao
I do think that des was originally just kings field hd x sony. Then hd fricked them up and miyazaki saw his opportunity. Then they just threw everything on it in hope it sticks >dungeon crawling mechanics >make it hard with spare checkpoints so no one sees how small the game is >add online mechanics and tailor many ingame stuff to online (maybe they will
Stick with that) >add weird ass quest requirements so people try to do multiple playthroughs >story?? Eh..let‘s add item descriptions.
stuff like the battle against the blind warrior literally feels like something straight of the ps2. In the end it managed to become something good.
battle is a copy of maneater
Gargoyles are 10 times better with far more intricate mechanics and better designed arena >>the thrones from ds3
Dark Souls 3 was a Demon's Souls spiritual successor before the shorter dev cycle hit
I just like that i can only play this on a PS3 or PS5
PC can emulate the original, can't it?

Meme difficulty aside I don't really care for their recent major focus on bosses.
why?
Not him but the focus feels less of an encompassing challenge now and moreso haphazardly placing things around to make areas feel full and it lacks the ambience and compact level design of earlier titles.

This, I don't like Sekiro
Elden Ring was a pleasant return to form with impressive level design too
if only stormveil wasnt the only properly designed dungeon the game has.
All the dungeons are great, even the minor ones
Demon's Souls level design on the other hand is utter trash
What the frick do you mean? Demon souls has maybe some dumb places, but it also has great stuff to discover and small places you didn‘t see at first. Exactly like fricking stormveil castle
No, it's very amateurish and low quality
Stonefang, Shrine and Latria are nothing but tubular gauntlets and with small off path routes for keys

Neither is a challenge in Demon's Souls. If you found levels in Demon's Souls a challenge than you were probably filtered by Elden Ring

Post webm
adjudicator is admittedly pathetically easy compared to the level he's in
same with leechmonger
All the "bosses" are easy. All the Demon's Souls content is, because the game is a bad Dark Souls demo
I've never been a big fan of boses in vidya in general, they just get in the way of exploration and seldom offer any creative ways to get past them. I'd be perfectly content with the only true boss being the final one.
Atmosphere > gameplay tbh senpai

*successors
>Hold left stick left just slightly
>Keep pressing R1
>Do it for 15 minutes straight
>Boss defeated
Technically superior
>le prepare to die XD redditor can't even pay attention long enough to read the whole post
I am SHOCKED.
meme atmosphere
Crazy to think there's b***hes all throughout time with huge fat breasts their are no pictures of to see
ooops im in the wrong thread

DeS and DS2 are right up there among the more hardcore souls circles. DS1 shit. DS3 shit.
Oh. My friend says that the remake made it much better, something about PvP stuff.

what the frick? who asked for this shit?
I get the free cam, but what's wrong with being able to pause?
OG Demon's Souls is the best game of the souls games but not the best 'souls game'
SekiroGoty>BBGoty>ER>DSPtdE>DS>DSR>DS3>KF IV>DeSu>ST Abyss>tbh R>KF2>KF3>ST>DS2SotFS>DS2>KF>Eternal Ring
>Isn't DeS the worst Souls game
It is
To be fair, magic makes all souls games dogshit easy.
Yeah someone made a build that staggers, does good damage, and can cheese the boss, what is your point?
Now make a webm of you getting all the way to the boss.
>equip regen ring
>just stand next to him and kill him occasionally stepping away
Literally less effort than this
Corridor to Tower Knight filtered me
But the areas in DeS are much more meme difficulty than in later games, it's only the bosses that suck.
>atmosphere > meme difficulty

Wait til you play King's Field.

Dark Souls 3 was a Demon's Souls spiritual successor before the shorter dev cycle hit
Elden Ring, Bloodborne and Dark Souls have all far more atmosphere than this grey and green mess
True but I wouldn’t say that Demon Souls is the definitive example.
