I was there during D3 release and played it every season up until season 15 or so. I followed the entire D3 journey. It's crazy how D4 at this point literally has the same arc as D3 had. They didn't learn anything. They release a half baked game with zero features that had record sales but a month after has zero hype, players are dropping like flies and theres a snowball effect of negative online drama and content. Then they slowly implement improvements but by then nobody cares and have found new games. It's like I'm back during D3 early days all over again.

Yep. Which is why I am fairly certain that D4 will be good in 1 year or so. They managed to fix D3 with a half-assed effort in just 2 years. D4's current state is much better than D3's launch state, and they have like 3-4x the amount of developers and MUCH more incentive to fix the game because they rely on battle passes and cosmetic sales, plus there's the 2 upcoming confirmed expansions.

They have explained that S1 and S2 were already 90% done by the time D4 released, because they have 3-4 different teams all working at the same time on different things. That's why the first real changes will only come in S3 and beyond. Just to visualize it, it's like this at Blizzard's D4 depatment right now: Team A working on S3. Team B working on S4. Team C working on Expansion 1. Team D working on Expansion 2.
I enjoy the game (paid $100, actually) and have played close to 300 hours (last game I invested that much time into was EverQuest 2) and still am playing. It's been well worth the money. I know I should stop having fun because you can't play it, but I won't.
I paid $100 too. I quit after 50 hours because the game is shit. The only reason to play more after that is because $100 is a lot to you and you need to convince yourself that you didn't waste it.

No, there's no gacha at all. In fact the shop and battle pass are 100% cosmetics and nothing else. You can't pay for any kind of advantage. The problem with D4 is just that a lot of the things are worse than D3. For example the endgame is worse, the itemization is worse and overall there's just a "why am I playing this?" sentiment that shrouds the entire game right now.
They have said that they are working on fixing things though, but it won't happen until season 3 at the earliest. There will be a new endgame activity + leaderboards, and likely item fixes coming post-S3 as well. D4 will probably be great in 1 year from now.

They have explained that S1 and S2 were already 90% done by the time D4 released, because they have 3-4 different teams all working at the same time on different things. That's why the first real changes will only come in S3 and beyond. Just to visualize it, it's like this at Blizzard's D4 depatment right now: Team A working on S3. Team B working on S4. Team C working on Expansion 1. Team D working on Expansion 2.

I enjoy the game (paid $100, actually) and have played close to 300 hours (last game I invested that much time into was EverQuest 2) and still am playing. It's been well worth the money. I know I should stop having fun because you can't play it, but I won't.

I paid $100 too. I quit after 50 hours because the game is shit. The only reason to play more after that is because $100 is a lot to you and you need to convince yourself that you didn't waste it.

Diablo 4 is perhaps the worst and unfun video games I've ever played. It's Ubisoft open world collect 500 macguffins and do 300 AI generated sidequests filled with generic dungeons full of pointless backtracking. I'm sorry your intelligence level is so low to be able to enjoy such slop.

There's absolutely nothing that you buy with real money that affects gameplay, so it's not like a gacha.
No, there's no gacha at all. In fact the shop and battle pass are 100% cosmetics and nothing else. You can't pay for any kind of advantage. The problem with D4 is just that a lot of the things are worse than D3. For example the endgame is worse, the itemization is worse and overall there's just a "why am I playing this?" sentiment that shrouds the entire game right now.
They have said that they are working on fixing things though, but it won't happen until season 3 at the earliest. There will be a new endgame activity + leaderboards, and likely item fixes coming post-S3 as well. D4 will probably be great in 1 year from now.
Still more people online than PoE and Chink Arc combined, seethe
