Wow, that screencap of a random Steam post that anons have been circulating was misinformation, who would've thunk?
>older capcom games have had it for years
>doesn't prevent file modding
>doesn't prevent usage of cheat engine

Imagine giving Capcom the benefit of the doubt when they have quite literally come out and said they consider mods cheating and bad PR and that they plan to crack down on it, shill harder

What a principled stand to take bro.
lying about Capcom only makes you look bad.

You can keep running damage control for Capcom but they've already acted on the bad press they've received

the OP image demonstrates that the updates they have added do not actually prevent modding. i wouldnt be shocked if they invest time and money into creating an actual modding prevention solution for the future but the point is to say the recent updates do not directly stop modding from his pov.
if i was valve i would contact capcom privately and explain to them that part of being in the pc marketplace is being mostly permissive of mods. the payoff is that by being permissive your game gets continued lease on life and gains additional sales and reputation, the downside is that you will have to put labor into stopping specific kinds of mods from destroying your game's integrity, eg valve attempting to curb cheats in their own competitive multi games.

like, someone needs to tell capcom that the fact coomer mods exist for resident evil and street fighter has definitely sold copies of the game to a select group of coomers. it's not all negative..

This. Crapcom deserve zero goodwill after blatantly show their anti-consumer stance like that.

    Literally in that same pic:
    >"They've been adding file encryption, anti-tamper, and other stuff to their games. Even sent copyright strikes against random MHR mod showcases."
Yeah okay bootlicker. This DRM also bricked compatibility on Steam Deck.

Yes but the misinformation was that it prevents modding, cheat engine and Capcom's anti mod stance was caused by the chun li gooner thing when none of those things are true.

None of this affects cosmetic mods anyways. If all you were concerned about was nude and sexy skins, you have nothing to worry about.

Isnt this whole thing about how monster hunter speedruners where cheating in all the items they needed to skip having to get them legit for runs and Capcom didn't like them cheating in items???

the whole thing was set off by a nude Chun Li mod but they seem to just be targeting cheat mods (for now)

That post just clears up some random misconceptions about the recent RE5 patch but the tool author does corroborate that captroon is intensifying its anti mod stance.

Its not misinformation. There is direct evidence it was added to Strider last month. First update since 2014. You figure it out what they plan to do Sherlock

Do you really think the Japanese could figure out how to stop mods? Do you even think they would outsource it to Russians? That's just moronic.

They literally did, there's a website and everything

so it's just an drm for the exe? then it wouldn't affect most of the mods in that case, unless they do something like verifying if it's using the original files which I think it's unlikely

    >There are no signs of other Capcom games getting a similar patch
you can look on the description for re4 chainsaw demo, it's stated there that it's using enigma protector
