Why does it give me this when I run it in Project64? I tried both patching the hack myself and downloading the pre-patched version but it doesn't even show the Nintendo screen. I tried changing the graphics plugin but that also did not work.
Nevermind, Windows decided to default to an older version of Project64 instead of the latest version.
I found a repeat star from the basic 1234 lobby in the 1 door. both the red coins and regular star at the top are shared. I am disappoint.

like I said, it's in the 1 door of the regualr 1234 lobby you can reach from fast travel so it should be easy for someone else to confirm. I even broke the box with the star and saw it was yellow, finished collecting red coins and grabbed the red coin star, then went back for that one and it was already gotten. I'll admit there's a small chance I'm moronic and got the red coins then grabbed the normal star so I'll guess I'll double check that.
update: I did get the coins and grab the regular star and I am mad at myself

Bosses were supposedly removed because they didn't have access to the original code and I assume stars moved so the people who played the previous versions doesn't rush them. Alternately I wouldn't be surprised if some where moved to areas the dev thinks people liked. I recall a decent amount of discussion about the mr I maze and that has a red star now. Speaking of has anyone found a way to get the yellow star from the trap in that area or is that part of the maze just a big dead end?

there's the invisible killer at the start that just kills you but if you dodge it there seem to be more that crash you instead. You skip past all the text by long jumping to the left but again there seem to be something else that crashes you when you try exploring.

There's nothing there IIRC, the thing that kills you there is actually an invisible green demon. You can try out running it if you go through the left passage but you won't find anything.
Honestly the appeal of B3313, at least for me, is the dreamlike aspect of the whole thing, levels that are eerily similar to the ones from the original but with a few twists, almost reminds me of the many Mario 64 related dreams I had as a kid, the whole "spoopy beytah" aspect of it is more of an afterthought, at least personally.

There is a reason for this, the original version of the hack was held together with spaghetti code and duct tape from the guitar cuck himself. So you can probably tell why some changes were made, and why the trailer is so half-assed.
Besides, we are planning to move on from the binary limitations and restart the whole hack from scratch using the decomp for a brand new version that allows for more, while keeping what makes it a special hack to begin with. It will be a huge improvement from this in many aspects. We may need to come up with a new title to avoid more sperging from the guitar cuck, though.

Hey, anybody know the deal with this? You can get it by just randomly going in and out of the castle. It just leads you to a black sky version of Whomp's Fortress, when you get the star, it brings you back there but with even less stuff and a timer that counts up and kills you at around 40 seconds. I managed to platform up to the tower thinking another star would be there but it isn't there. Is there a star here?
a star spawns when you reach the very top, jumping from the highest platform and wallkicking and holding towards the tower should let you get it

In the previous version, in the room with the invisible cap painting (enter through the door on the left side of the castle by the waterfall, overhanging the moat where the invisible cap stage spits you out in the original game if you die) there was an ambient sound of a hooting owl.

There isn't. The warp after getting the Red Star only gives you lore or something with the King. Even if there was a way past the barrier I don't think the 2D Star looking thing in the distance doesn't function.
Played the game for 4 hours. I'm definitely feeling like I need a map at this point.
I was able to get the long jump, and I believe invisibility cap, but no other powerup switches if they exist and I keep fumbling trying to find new places that might help with progress.
Found the toad amalgamation but my game softlocked me after it and I had to reset, forgot how I found it. Encountered this as well but had to fast travel out.
It's pretty fun seeing all the reimagined areas but I can only do red coins and silver stars for so long in-between fumbling through doors before tiring of it. Does remind me of my mario related dreams though.
red cap switch isn't too hard to reach. It's one or two lobbies past where you get dropped off after getting a star sometimes. It's a bit hidden in the stage it's in so it is easy to miss even if you find the right stage.
I've been told metal cap is in some hazy maze cave but I don't know which one. I haven't seen anything that requires it yet so it's probably not important
Otherwise the whole point of the game is that it's huge and sprawling so just explore and grab all the stars you see or something. From what I've heard you just need to find the 12 red stars to open the ending of the game but there's no indication to where they are so again just go around collecting stars.

I remember it being easily accessible from one of the "main" Beta Lobbies last time, but I checked again and the switch is gone.
I went through the steps on the wiki to reach Bowser's Castle and look for the entrance for the other listed place on there that has it but couldn't find anything like it.
unless they changed the place of it again but 0.9 had it in the basement area from the door under the main area's stairs in the plexal lobby, it's a pit similar to hazy maze cave's entrance behind another door in a room with the usual checkerboard floor. i think there's a second way to get there but that basement area's faster to get to.

What's fricked is how the painting for the invisibility cap has a chance to throw you into the actual level with the switch or a knockoff of the original switch palace without a switch so imagine some poor frick "discovering" it and never going back for it, looking for the switch elsewhere
with the abandoned version, there was a fricked up yellow switch that would frick up random bits of data. I kept hitting it until i got all the caps unlocked and i never worried bout any of that stuff. my save file transfers (seemingly) fine over to this version.

It's a hack based on childhood dreams people had of new, sometimes surreal areas in the game, and the personalized copy meme. It's mostly just to explore and enjoy the atmosphere if you can relate to the thing I just mentioned. There is light creepypasta pasta elements, slightly more so with the later updates but those areas are few and far between.

It might be a little funny, but honestly no. I think it also might not have quite the same appeal if you don't have nostalgia for 64 but doubly so if you haven't even played it. They're also quite different games with B3313 being much more sprawling and focused on exploring and getting lost, so I guess if you enjoy games like Yume Nikki and LSD you'll probably get a kick out of it.
The appeal is experiencing a weird, dream like version of a game you're already familiar with. I can't imagine it's much fun if you've never played the original but it wouldn't hurt to try I suppose.

What emulator do I use for this shit? I tried one that was recommended in a youtube video and it seriously didn't even have controller support. Don't say Project64, didn't that become junk with adware and shit?
The only way i got it running is by using the latest parallel core from the launcher. I really hope they figure out the compability issues though since i'd rather use Mupen as Parallel lags on certain sections

can you post a guide to get there? I've been stuck trying to get back to it after I stumbled into it.
At the castle's back doors from the Castle Grounds, enter Crescent Castle and keep going straight until pic related. Turn left into the closest room and turn right to enter the painting with the single cloud. Takes you to Bowser's Floor where one of the doors there takes you to the sequence where you enter a prison, stand on Bowser's Throne and it keeps going from there till that Red Star Door.
There's quite a few ways to get to Bowser's Floor but this is the fastest and easiest way.

so far 1 "fake" one has been found, which i'm honestly not surprised about considering i basically did all of the star ID stuff in one sitting (aside from a small number of posterior edits) so surely i had to make some typoes at the end of the day that slipped through the testing process
if you guys find enough bugs (that are not code-related, because the coders have all moved on to the decomp project though and probably cba to return to this clusterfrick), i might just end up doing a v1.01 or something around september (provided all the drama stuff calms down enough)
Makes sense it's 13, but left a little 'what if' to situations like pic related where they feel like they would give a red. It's cool reds are scarce but there's certainly still some events and levels that could make the event all the more special and making getting to the ending less tedious. A bit of leeway in the event of someone getting severely lost in the Basement or Mr. I's Mazes or super unlucky to not end up in the Toad's Hedgemaze or Sanctuary Lobby.

I've checked the mutant toad jumpscare and imo it's worse now beecause instead of hanging on it for a bit it just flashes the model for half a second, you immediately die and get sent to the usual red lobby. The weirdness won't hit as much if you're playing for the first time.

The default 64 emulator through Emudeck doesn't work for it.
Use the Parralels Emulator and, in the settings, use the OGRE gfx plugin & overload cpu options. That's how I got it working.
