    >genwunners will defend Gen I clunky-ass inventory system because muh nostalgia
I too love leaving items behind in dungeons and having to run back to a Pokémon Center to empty my bag!
    So immersion, much realism

I wish they leaned into it more. Part of why it feels clunky is because they were only half-commited to the idea.

Once your brain is fully formed you'll learn to plan ahead and have empty space in your bag for items. I know, it sounds crazy right now but it will make sense to you one day hopefully.

The realism argument doesn’t even work since you can still carry 99 of the same item lol
It doesn’t make the game harder either since you can have 99 revives 99 full restores. It just makes it more annoying

every game had a clunky inventory in 1996

Eat shit. It could be ten times worse. For being on a glorified calculator, pokemon handled it pretty well.

you could move them around with select moron ;p

No, you could switch two items but not move them around. It would still take many permutations to get the right order.

Not true. You can move it to any slot in your inventory until you press select again. just tried just to make certain

Nice gaslighting but I just tried and you can only make permutations between items. GSC is the one with free move.

You could just move the item you wanted up one at a time it's not that hard.
The funny thing is that they actually fixed this in GSC, then they went back to the Gen 1 method for RSE.

          >You could just move the item you wanted up one at a time it's not that hard.
Yes but why bother at this point for anything else than the bike, rod and itemfinder

Are you mentally challenged or not know what permutations are?

SELECT KEY the item you want to move
              use the up/down buttons
clip SELECT KEY again at the position you want the item at.

And what this does is permute the item you have selected with the one at the target position. You cannot freely move a single item, and if the item at the target position was already at the right place, you'd need to make a cascade of permutations to get it at the right place again.

Back in his day, there were no PCs, just a locker for his Soda Pop and Old Rod. If he needed to withdraw, not only did he have to go back to the Pokémon Center, but the very one where he deposited that item, unless he wanted to pay shipping fees to have it delivered.

Oh, and remember when Gary (not Blue but Gary) would ambush you for a battle right before you can heal at a pokemon center, so if you lose you respawn at the pokemon center one town before? Remember how if you said yes to that guy at the nugget bridge you get to actually join Team Rocket? Remember the crazy side mission where if you lose to a burglar you need to go track him down and get your stolen pokemon back?

RBY is more visually pleasing than FRLG. The sprites have more personality, the simpler visuals let the lack of overworld variety be excused for a bit, and even then it still has more overworld variety than FRLG.

    your claim was:

I made no claim about the complexity involved.
Just because you permute them doesn't imply you wont "move them around". They are moving, even if it is just a position remap.
