It's a glorified VN considering how rare the combat is for the most part, and when it happens it's rather easy even on tactician outside of maybe one fight every 20 hours. 5e is also pretty much moron proof, as long as you go with your recommended starting stats you won't be able to frick up your character and even if you do there are no consequences. It's as casual as you can get.
Beat the game last night. Act 3 is pretty rushed near the end but I give the game an 8.5 out of 10 and think it was well worth my money and time.

Yes, I've noticed. Everything is heavily, HEAVILY dumbed down from 2.0 - 3.5, and neither of those systems were difficult to learn, especially on a PC.
I've only really played 3.5 and Pathfinder 1e, but shit can get very autistic very fast. Also I can understand why it was simplified for TT play, shit can be annoying to DM, but they took it way too far and it doesn't make for a particularly enjoyable CRPG experience. I also fricking hat the concentration system. I understand they want to limit buffs and shit so that you don't go into combat with 20 of them but they took it way too far. I always loved playing control wizards but that's unfortunately not a thing anymore given how practically everything requires concentration, leaving you as a blaster once shit is up.
Still inferior to the actual tabletop games.
