No, because it's shit. It's remembered only because of dude NTR lmao.
t.person that never even play the game
Someone did and made a pretty detailed article about all the NTR on it.
https://ontlogy.wordpress.com/2020/07/18/a-look-at-bahamut-lagoon-square-enixs-greatest-ntr-masterpiece/
so you haven't played it?

>Motomu Toriyama
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Fun Trivia: he admitted he wrote it while he was butthurt over a bad breakup, in his rage the man cursed the whole world.
>in his rage the man cursed the whole world
Many such cases.
No way this tiny old game actually created the NTR genre I now love, right?
It didn't create it but it did codified its most basic tropes that are currently used.
The game definitely did have an impact in Japan and most certainly did end up as one of the bases for what became the NTR genre in Japan.
You wish, people just cherrypicking certain stuff to make it like modern NTR.
SE is stupid but i don't think they are SO stupid to bring to the light the fact they made something that caused so much damage to the world.
Live a live was the better cerebral SNES Square rpg and that got a remake for a good reason.
Why you bring LaL is true it has a type of NTR that has never been repeated again (Suicide NTR) but it was just what broke Oersted mind after shitloads of mind breaking bullshit, mot the whole reason why he went insane.
>Jap only Square RPGS on the SNES that are more notorious for their tragic and bittersweet stories than their gameplay
Gee, I don't know. It's almost like they're cut off the same cloth
LaL is tragic, Bahamut Lagoon...i mean, you have the main girl literally scream "YOU ARE FASTER THAN MC!".
It's a lot more nuanced than that. The story does its best to show that the princess really only loved MC because she didn't know any better and grew to love Chad McFrick because he also showed her own strength and what she's capable.
The impact this has on Byuu is entirely dependent on the player's own perspective and you're given as many chances to play the abandoned puppy as you can play the hero of his own separate quest.
At the end of the day, the girl Byuu promised to marry that day long ago was a helpless child, and the woman who by the end became queen was an entirely different person. Whether Byuu is a loner stuck in the past or a Dragon master seeking new heights is up to the player to interpret
LaL isn't even NTR, it was just the last silver lining of a broken man spitting on his face.
Ok, and what about this kid?
What the frick am I looking at?
Looks to be Pokemon DLC characters pasted over top Xenoblade characters.
Photoshop aside, the kid is Kieran from Pokemon SV DLC and YOU basically become the "NTR bastard" to his life. Seriously, you arrive to his life, steal the attention of his sister, lie to him, beat him several times in battle, steal the attention of the Pokemon he idolized, he snaps and actually fights you for the pokemon, loses and goes Vergil insane, obsessed with power and defeating you.
Oh boy
>Pokemon DLC has you go to some bumfrick town as a field trip thing
>Meet two siblings, the sister fricking hates you and wants you gone, the brother, while kinda timid, befriends you
>The town worships three pokemon that sacrificed themselves to drive away an evil pokemon called Ogrepon, the town worship these three but the brother really admires Ogrepon (who is 100% female btw) for her strength instead
>Town festival happens, you and the sister hang out together and actually encounter Ogrepon while the brother isn't around, she mentions not to tell her brother cause he'd be giga upset he missed out
>Talk to their grandfather the next day about meeting Ogrepon, he tells the actual truth, that Ogrepon was actually the good guy and the three pokemon are actually fricking asshats who killed her trainer and took some masks from her which was why she attacked, and speaking about the truth labels you has some heretical frick that gets you exiled from the village
>Brother overhears everything, mad as frick that you hid the fact that you met Ogrepon from him and challenges you to a battle, he loses and accidentally revives the three pokemon
>Town, still believing they're good guys, give them Ogrepon's masks and power them up
>You and the sister go find Ogrepon and recruit her to help you take down the tree pokemon and get her masks back while the brother convinces the town they're fricking morons that got the story wrong all these years, conflict resolved, everyone's happy
>Ogrepon wants to become yours, brother isn't happy about that one fricking bit and challenges you one last time and you kick his shit in
>Next day everyone in the town sees you off except the brother, who's at home having a Vergil moment about getting stronger, and the sister almost ends up confessing to you since you ended up getting close to her during your trip
Essentially you steal this kid's sister and the pokemon he wants to frick, and now he absolutely fricking hates you.
Bro, Yoyo is constantly belittled the entire game by the legendary dragons because she's so weak willed and ill suited for her bloodline rite. The game ends with her kingdom's legendary dragon fricking off forever to go adventuring with Byuu and her new husband, who really was an absolute Chad McFrick, in the end executed. Yoyo was left with nothing but a wartorn kingdom to rebuild, and all the subtext implies she's doomed to fail
Makes sense cause of
Hey, I said Chad helped her find her own strength and that's why she grew to love him, not that she excelled at being a queen or that she became an ace or anything.
Her being competent or even getting a good ending is a completely different subject.
>Princess NTRs MC with chad
>MC NTRs the princess' entire kingdom stealing their dragon guardian
Damn, it got layers.
What did the MC say in reaction to the b***h going with Chad McFrick instead
Thay depends of the player...which I think made it worse as it means the player has to self-insert which makes the NTR feel more personal.
if remember you beat a midboss,
the midboss joins you and then he NTRs you with the princess
you get NTRd by your Vegeta
I mean in answers, you are given dialogue options.
Spoken like a cuck
Oersted is often lumped together with pizzarro from dragon quest and dhaos from tales of pahtasia as "square's three unfortunate antagonists."
He also gets lumped togther with Sigurd from FE4 and シラノ・バーンスタイン from whatever as "the three unlucky RPG protagonists".
>dhaos from tales of pahtasia
>square's
Sigurd is a b***h that got torched, Oersted instead torched everyone else and made sure they keep burning even in death.
>Sigurd is a b***h that got torched, Oersted instead torched
I mean he did fricking torch like half the nobles and everyone in his path and only was stopped because they tricked him.
The lad conquered half of the continent through sheer retaliation efforts.
I always wonder if it was inspired by a song of ice and fire.
fe4 and game of thrones came out in the same year so highly unlikely
If Bahamut Lagoon never happened, then pic related would have never happened either, same with Kieran from pokemon.
I never played this game, how bad is it? The intro song is pretty good. I think it's like, fiiiiind your way, t bring back yesterday.
This game is the caused that most of the NTR doujins use a "childhood friend".
Do you mean the gameplay or the story? If the former, it's slightly above average. It's an SRPG with battles that are rather slow but not particularly difficult, and you can trivialize most of it by farming items to max out your dragons in the first half of the game. Pretty graphics though, like all of Square's later SNES games.
I guess this is the place to ask; someone remembers a doujin where a kid is cucked by his own twin brother and he FRICKING BEAT THE LIVING SHIT OUTTA THE butthole WITH A BAT?
Wait so is this game like
>cucking the antagonist
or
>getting cucked by the antagonist
or both? I’m not an NTR enthusiast does it cover both sides of the spectrum?
Cucked by the antagonist. The player spends a good chunk of the game trying to rescue his Childhood friend Princess and she falls in love with an enemy general during her time as a captive which could also just be due to Stockholm syndrome.
The antagonist cucks you with the princess, but then cucks you out of kicking his ass because he betrays his boss to join you because he's simping for the princess. He's also one the best party members and you're expected to put him in the same party as the protagonist because they're the same class, which means they amplify each others' power.
He's actually a mostly cool dude who finds it awkward to interact with you, and he dies at the end because he decides to go back to his former empire now that his boss is dead to take responsibility, where he immediately gets lynched by angry citizens. The princess is an annoying useless b***h, the god of dragons basically tells the protagonist at the end to get over her. She ends up all alone while needing to rebuilt her kingdom, while the protagonist builds a house for his bros and then goes adventuring with the god of dragons.
That’s really fricking funny if you didn’t sugarcoat it. Like, I’ll probably never play this game so I’ll just believe this is exactly how it happened lmao. Mf she fell in love with was just a bro, he dies, nobody regains sympathy for her and leaves her for all eternity lmao.
>I’ll probably never play this game
Me neither, now
If it wasn't for the NTR nobody would give a shit about this mediocre game.
We need more characters that when they get NTR they actually decided to take revenge.
been a while since I played this but I'm pretty sure I hated 90% of the characters. Especially the weird old man. Even the random dudes in your army were annoying c**ts.
Dragon building was an interesting concept but I didn't like the dragons much in practice.
The characters in each squad providing bonuses was a cool idea, but it meant that any squad without a mobility unit got left behind.
I liked how your magic spells affected the battlefield.
