It is possible, some threads that don't attract schizos have people in them who don't either constantly fellate the game or shit on it. Unfortunately those are rare.
Phenomenal music and attention to detail. The sounds of streams, wind, distant cave sounds are great. Fun breaking camp and having it be in different locations as well as how much food you collect to break camp. All items have descriptions straight from how a DM would describe them. Most of the companions are good to great, the storyline is good. However it doesn't capture that almost laid back, carefree early adventuring BG1 had but that's ok.
I enjoy watching people get filtered by dice rolls. It's quite clear they never played D&D. I also like how they screech it's super far left propaganda when you can murder anyone you deem beneath you.
I do wish it wasn't based off 5e and had some more RP depth (choose your deities, alignment, etc) but that is mostly a fault of how frickin gay WotC made 5e, not the developers. I'm 32 hours in and just about wrapping up act 1

How is anyone struggling in this game? Playing on tact w/ a friend, ended this fight at full HP and he was stunlocked for 5 turns in a row. Do people not understand the basic concept of debuff+cc? Are you all just slamming damage into everything and praying?
I slam damage into everything and heal.
People act like CC is oh so good, but healing does the same thing of negating the threat of the enemy, and it does it while pulling them in towards the killzone faster since they're still moving freely. And you can outheal traps or whatever so you can just walk through them.
Guaranteed crits or advantage from CC is nice though.
I made Shadowheart Light domain. Negating damage is better than wasting a turn healing, because then in turn she pumps out caster tier dps. Healing is shit in 5e, cc/damage are king.

All the end game bosses are way too exploitable with the line of sights and globe of invulnerability. They should remove the line of sight ambush advantages for all end game bosses it's stupid.

For gortash and orin and many other end game bosses you can sneak up right behind them pretty much (ok not so much orin but I remember several encounter the devs made the los exactly where you can ambush them super easily). I killed orin in one turn and gortash in 2 turns.

What's sad is that EA wasn't anything like this (I last played Patch 7) - sure, Astarion, Gale and the other romances were there but at least recruiting them was entirely optional (hell, I even missed Gale completely on my first run).
So unless you specifically chose certain dialogue options or to recruit certain characters it seemed like a pretty normal game. Now with the full release you have all this "identity"/"body type"/"vitiligo slider" crap that you're FORCED to see and I feel cheated out of my money.

There was an in-game book I read about how during initial R&D of the forge, they cracked the ore because there was too much lava. Would not be surprised if Larian also let the opposite happen
no, it's just extremely buggy. I've done the event twice (or, 4 times total) in two runs, did it exactly the same way the second time, and the second time it bugged out. had to waypoint-port out of there too, because the platform refused to raise.

two seconds before i read this balthazar's voice switched from not being distorted to being distorted after selecting a dialogue option. my framerate dropped to twelve near the last light inn and twice now has an enemy bugged out and completely unloaded all visible game assets anytime it was their turn, and anytime i went to attack him (by right clicking the ctb portrait at the top.) could just be my machine i suppose
I did notice the audio mixing (?) was a little off - the volume of dialogue seems to jump up and down a lot so that probably needs a fix. Didn't experience any of the other issues though, framerate was pretty high all the way through.
turn your dynamic volume and sound occlusion down, that should sort it out. Terrible ideas for the top-down game anyway

Ending was pretty short and unsatisfying, and since they don't use the traditional alignment system there isn't really any reactivity for good/evil characters since the game doesn't track that. There are different paths though, like choosing to genocide the grove (evil) or the goblin camp (good).
So I'd say it's okay, but not mind-blowingly good. Note that you lose several companions if they accompany you on some of the evil activities, like genociding the tieflings at the grove.
Durge is the best option if you want to do an evil run.

No it isn't. It's janky and laggy and several quests just break for inexplicable reasons. It's better than Kingmaker was on release, but Kingmaker you couldn't even get to the final act, that one was an especially bad release.
What broke for you? I only have the Bhaal dungeon, murdering Gortash and fetching the dragon left in lower city.

I haven't gotten to that yet.
The house of hope portal broke for me (I read now that there's some hirelings shenanigans you might be able to do to fix it), and the gnomes at the robot factory broke as well and I ended up giving up on them and just blowing up the place then going to confront goreass. When I got into a fight in that zone, every entity in it engaged me in combat, including a bunch of the traps, and goreass himself and his goons on the 2nd floor who couldn't reach me. I spent probably half an hour sitting there, mostly waiting as enemies would dedicate their turns to standing still wondering how to reach me for 10-15 seconds then giving up, and there would be 10+ of these every round. eventually I gave up on the idea of fighting them and ran to the edge of the zone and got out of combat. When I re-entered the zone the engagements worked just fine, but I was pretty annoyed by this point. Honestly, I haven't gone back to finish the save.
All of these things worked fine for me. Even the submarine section, and I know that's bugged for many people.

I had the same issue with the Gortash fight, made it kinda anticlimactic cause I just cleared out the first floor, climbed up the 2nd floor slowly just for only him to come running out so he got dogpiled instantly.
Even without that happening the Orin/Gortash fights are both lame compared to Ketheric

If you want luck to matter then don't allow the players to save anywhere, hell the quick save works even right in the middle of dialogue. That's just ridiculous.
There's no point in rolling a dice if you can reload instantly until you get it right.
Saving in this game should be like in old RE games where saving was a very limited resource you had to make sure to only use when needed.

That's not how this shit works, if a feature isn't supposed to be used then it shouldn't have been in the game to begin with.
You should play the first few Wizardry games and see how you do. They're entirely based on dice rolls and have autosaving and permadeath mechanics. It's brutal but you feel like a fricking God if you manage to beat Werdna. Still you can see why most other developers made it a lot easier.

they fully intend you to saveskum, it's responsible for all the length the game has. you savescum until you're over leveled then you get to savescum less. midwits leave on karmic dice and the game then savescum for you by making everything hit more often. at no point has larian ever not built their game around savescumming for high dice rolls. they even let the game load minimized and shows the load progress in windows UI, knowing most people are F8'ing and tabbing out to get mad on Ganker before returning to their last rolls quick save to make their 65% attack roll finally hit on the 6th try.
I guess I must be a weirdo, then. I've never savescummed 'cept for when I accidently clicked on stuff by accident, ended up stealing a fricking cup and proc'd a fricking civil war inside in the Grove. I try my best to deal with ALL consequences, to the point where I'm putting my head into the lion's mouth out of sheer curiosity while I could go for sneak attacks and prepare for big fights.
if you reload and replay on death/party whipe its functionally the same thing in result and time spent to just F5-F8'ing the most bullshit of rolls. this isn't a skill based RPG system and the devs made no pretence about designing a system that doesn't view quickloading as integral to intended progression.

When you talk to each of your companions, they will each present you the option to "spend time alone" with them. It is very formulaic, and applies to every one of your companions.
And once you accept the offer of any companion, when you talk to someone else they will specifically mention that you already seem to have plans with someone else, and you have to specifically tell them "I've rather spend the night with you than X".
It's so blatantly obvious that anyone complaining about it is either an asocial homosexual or disingenuous. The ONLY one that might be a little obscure is Gale when he first offers you to show you magic, but then he makes it blatantly obvious, which means you are a homosexual if you actually got into the scene with him.

I ended up using on shadowhearths final quest battle. That was the most annoying fight in the game by far, who thought it was a good idea to pit you up against 20 dudes. You just have to sit there with in your little cuck cage, while they all individually have to take a turn to fart some black smoke on you. At least with this I killed most of them quickly.

The large majority of people are romancing Shadowheart, that's why. There's no point in adding weirdos because for all the yammering about diversity the average person is still a boring frick that wants to bang something that looks like him but hotter.
Why would anyone romance anyone else, unironically? Lae'zel is some weird egg-laying hermaphrodite, and the tiefling's body is literally on fire and made of magic, she's basically a flesh golem and about as fertile as one. The only woman who's actually a WOMAN in the ways that matter (i.e., not in the ways that a man could call himself one) is Shadowheart. And maybe the drow, if she hasn't self-castrated already for some perverse drow reason.
D&D races used to have pretty distinct personalities innate to them. You couldn't just hang out with an elf if you were a human, for example, unless the elf was EXTREMELY progressive, or he was a social outcast from his own society, they would never put up with socializing with a moronic short-lived monkey. But now they aren't this way anymore, now they're just humans with point ears.
In fact, and this is kinda weird, BG3 has a quest about this. You take a githyanki egg from their lair and give it to some weirdoes to test their nature vs nurture hypothesis, their theory is that if you raise a gith as a human it will turn out as a human instead of as a violent psychopath. Then when you return to them, and they've hatched the egg and raised the kid with some time shenanigans, all of them have been killed by the kid, who deemed them "evil" because they were weak. So canonically, in this game, that means that gith are innately evil, or at least their innate moral philosophy drives them to behave in ways that humans consider evil.
So it's kind of weird how all the races in BG3, in every other quest and all other contexts, are treated as completely interchangeable. Hafling, human, half-orc, it doesn't matter; they're all treated completely the same, as if they're innately the same.

Friends and I like playing video games together and are interested in this. We tried dnd before but I didn't have the patience or diligence to run regular sessions as DM (or the autistic knowledge of the rules needed) so we stopped that after like 2 sessions.
For reference we're mostly well adjusted people with wives and long time gfs, not serial masturbators, or extreme right or left wing schizos. Just a squad of 4 normalish dudes with an interest in vidya. Borderline normies with slightly degenerate tendencies.
No idea what you're trying to say. It's an extremely normie game, except for how easily you can initiate romances with the male companions, and how conspicuously gay many of the background characters are. Men always sure to reference their husbands, women always sure to reference their wives, etc. But other than that it's just DOS1/2 all over again, but worse on the gameplay, but better on the narrative presentation.

4 people sounds like it's going to be pretty slow, you only get 1 turn each per round, it's gonna be a lot of sitting around waiting to play. The exploration aspect might be cool though. If you're just sitting there shooting the shit and using the game as an excuse to do that, and you're just reacting to the stuff going on, then I think it would be alright.
It's gonna take you a long time to clear it though, like 40-80 hours long depending on how completionist you guys are.
your first hour of absolutely 0 dialogue playing will teach you exactly why co-op is a meme in this game.

I had a paladin use command to make him drop his hammer too, then cast duel so he'd only fight my tank mc. still ran his entire turn to punt Gale into the spiderless spider pit with his bonus action, complete bullshit. none of that was necessary versus just hitting him until he dies and taking slightly more damage. shoot/break the drums so the whole place doesn't actually aggro at once and commit to the fact the goblins everywhere are now going to realize they're supposed to be hostile. the whole area is free XP, the bosses are weaker than the troll at the door.

Act 3 is closer in length to 1 than 2. You'll hit level 12 at least 10 hours before you even reach the final boss.

literally just start up 4 instances, join a multiplayer game in one of them and create a character in each instance
then save, close them down and continue playing from your save

You can respec them, same as any other character. You cannot "fully" customize them, as was originally announced. Name, race, background, and appearance are all set in stone.
