Hard mode increases the amount of enemies and changes their tactics, plus the usual statbloat. Some enemies will have you fight them with disadvantage and the reason will be: tactician mode.

The devs say the game takes 70-80 hours, I could have spent 10+ hours on other stuff to do before the end of the game, there were other minor areas and quests in baldurs gate plus I missed stuff I couldn't go back to in act 1 and 2 since act 3 locks you out. Not unrealistic. I did raphael's quest, the creche+underdark, all the encounters with the undead guys in act 2, companion quest lines for astarion, shart, gale, laezel. I did some of the circus stuff (not all), the murder solving+joining bhaal cult, recruiting minsc, loroakan quest (frick that dyke) +others I can't think of right now

In both tabletop and any decent DND emulation Astarion would be able to wait for Lazael to go before him and threaten the enemy, which would allow him to make a sneak attack.

He was kind of a chump for me. Gortesh's funhouse was hell though. I entered the area and there were already grenades at my feet, then I couldn't take 3 steps without something exploding.
I just snuck in through the roof. I only had to kill like three other people besides him.
I blew up the factory immediately after entering the city, so everyone in the fortress aggro'd me.
Yes I did as well but there's some vines around the sides of the castle that get you pretty near the top and then I just Dimension Door'd my way all the way up. I never fought anyone in the castle.
I was a full Paladin running Wyll and Karlach for the bossfight, since Shadowcute is a mandatory include for me I had no room for dimension door.
A Paladin would bust in through the front door and would never take to the rooftops like a coward, so good on you.
True, it also taught me that the grenade trap bombs can't detonate if you pick them up, they make some pretty nifty throwables too.
I got crit by so many fricking archers that eventually it became just my half dead paladin and Gortesh slugging it out while everyone else was bleeding out on the floor.

Joke aside, I did the boss on tactician the hard way - My main was elf oov paladin, so I just kept blasting invulnerability sphere with Gale and picking frickers off until Raphael was alone. He's a beast on tactician if you don't have any cheesy powerbuilds
In my defense, I discovered sword bard 10 paladin 2 simply out of pure rage that my level 11 Paladin was hard countered by radiant retort.
I didn't realize that when I decided to sub in bard levels to keep myself as a pseudopaladin that I'd actually become far more OP than a pure build.
So Raphael was a complete chump because smite spamming with a bard-paladin is some of the most OP burst in the game, but Gortesh was a living hell because my still pure Paladin quickly ran dry trying to eat through his health while setting off every trap in the game.

One of the characters you can start as has a magical bomb in his chest. His God tells him to use the bomb to blow up the big bad villain's tower, thus killing the villain (or at least heavily damaging it I guess, I dunno I haven't done it)
Because using the bomb kills the whole party in a cinematic it effectively triggers an 'ending' far earlier than other endings, but it's effectively a Game Over.

Ironically I've heard the gameplay, music, and cleric are good. I've heard varied opinions on everything else and the stats posted back that up, as well as showing Charisma classes are fun (which is all I care about really) so writing seems to be the only contention.
