Because it actually is bad. +1 across the board often has no impact on whether or not you hit your bonuses, which take +2 to a stat. And the very nature of 5e classes means that having +1 to every stat isn't actually that useful, as most classes use just one or two stats.
Humans were strong only because the Variant Human rule exists, which gives you a free feat at level 1 instead of waiting until level 4 like many other races would have to do. It also comes with a free proficiency, which normal Human does not.
Except BG3 runs on point buy, meaning your starting bonus will never hit +4 in anything anyway but your total positive scores will be better. It's much more conducive to MAD classes and multiclassing.
Human allows a 16/16/14/12/10/9 spread which no other race does. You miss out solely on a 17 cap which the +2 attribute races allow. Your stats across the board will be significantly higher which is much stronger for a whole bunch of classes.

I don't really care that much about details of romances and scenes related to them, but Larian really highlighting the romances have made me more uninterest in the game than anything else. Romances are generally the least fun part of RPGs, but I guess it is what the normalgay consoomers who were introduced to the genre by Bioware want.

Tru chads go DEX/STR/CHA Battlemaster Archer with high mobility, long bows, and dual wielding. Combining both ranged and melee and dominating the battlefield. Basically a non-hippie ranger. Yes and no. Having to fight face to face =/= pulling a string and shooting. There are other factors like reaction speed, body weight, ect which archers dont need to consider. You can train basically anyone to pull a bow string it just takes time.

I'm pretty sure what they're doing is the following standard 5e rules for spell slots but not following standard 5e rules for KNOWN spells.
Here's how 5e multiclassing between casters works: >Your total caster level (cleric+druid+bard+wizard+sorcerer+ half and 1/4th casters give half and 1/4th of their levels for this) gives you your spell slots. So a level 10 wizard and a wizard 5/cleric 5 has level 5 spell slots. >Your current class level (so each class is counted separately) gives you your spells KNOWN. So a level 10 wizard has level 5 spells. A level 6 sorcerer/level 4 wizard knows level 3 and level 2 spells.
So a level 3 sorc and level 3 cleric has level 3 spells slots, but only knows level 2 spells.

I don't know how I feel about that. I liked being able to frick around and take Pact of the Tome on a Hexblade and have that utility while still being mid-Gish. I also liked the extra hex/armor proficiencies Hexblade gave, and if they did that, that implies that's gone and they aren't planning to put it in down the line.

Plus, have they said how far levels even go in this past EA? Besides, I like the theming, too. You kind of lose the "living sword from the Raven Queen or other unknowable patron" compared to the other two things. I also, as stated, really love Pact of the Tome, but am not sure that's even in the game/would work as well in one, and if this lets me just run Fey Patron and get Misty Step free then frick it. I'll miss the armor proficiency, though. I just wanna play Elric or a knockoff Witcher, bros, every other Gish doesn't feel right, and I've been trying for years, tabletop and vidya.

BG3 goes to level 12, and the vast majority of content is going to be from Player's Handbook, along with Tasha's Cauldron rulesets and some of Larian's homebrew.
Aside from Oathbreaker for paladin it doesn't seem like they're even adding a lot of stuff from Xanathar's. No Hexblade, no Toll the Dead cantrip, etc.
Ranger and Barbarian's subclasses got altered heavily under Larian's homebrew.

It's odd to me for how popular, useful, and almost seminal to 5e XGE was that they aren't, but if they get all this in and working well that should be fine, there's always post-launch and these are traditionally games with expansions, anyhow. And if you think wizards can't get stripped of power, you should really do some research on Mystra. She can absolutely do that. She can affect your control of the weave, make you (or even the whole planet) unable to cast spells if she wishes so. She can also do the opposite and make you able to cast any spell, even if you wouldn't be able to otherwise.
Level 10-13 spells got completely eradicated by a previous Goddess of Magic in the past, with no exception.

If you personally challenge her she can just deactivate your magic unless you, yourself are a demigod at least.
If you are an arcane devotee of Shar you can access the shadow-weave and bypass her shit too, but I don't know if that is still canon in 5e. Shadow weave was 3e. Also your spells get weaker using the shadow weave

If Mystra wills it you literally will get 100% spell failure on every single spell, even the most worthless cantrip, no matter how skilled you are.
She's the main goddess of magic of the setting for a reason.
The main difference is she doesn't tend to do this unless as massive punishment (thus why she won't hit evil casters with spell failure despite the fact she's biased towards good).

There are multiple way. Level drain is of course one thing like others mentioned before.
Mystra can grant or deny your access to the weave. Also there are multiple ways to make you forget how spells work (spell thievery exists, wish can be forgotten forever etc).

You can take Gale with you too, he’ll be at camp soon with other party members. The active ones traveling will be three in addition to you, making four. You can switch between them for each of their respective quests and what not. And no, there are none of who will be permanently removed if they aren’t in your traveling party. I think we will have to multiclass to build d(s)ex lord. Monk gets 10+dex+wis to ac. Mage armor is 13+dex ac, so something lime monk 1/sorc 1 or wiz 1 will net us 13+dex+wis ac. Also we dont know is monk weapons and fist are finessable.
This, 5e is a boring turd that tried to sacrifice everything for the sake of balance and ended up failing to do even this. The more homebrewing the better.

Hmmm, I've thought about it a lot, and I've decided to play a WHITE MALE FIGHTER of LAWFUL GOOD alignment, with blonde hair and blue eyes. I will have him use a TWO HANDED SWORD, of course.
During my playthrough, I will be sure to have sex with all of the women (XX chromosome, can have children, under 125lb) I can, but in the end, only the one who is most CHASTE and VIRGINAL will be the one I remain with until the end of the adventure.
I find it easiest to self insert this way, and it's the way I play every RPG under all circumstances.

tl;dr: The strongest party member, going by their race would be the elf rogue, and he'd be level 5 at most.
I feel like Wyll is the only one thus far who has felt like a low level character. His story is much more grounded in comparison (monster hunter turned warlock wanting revenge on a goblin that tortured him), but overall it's still pretty... epic? Larian focus a lot on these massive character stories since DOS2, every companion is a special snowflake.
Larian devs are trannies, feminists and unironical proud cuckolds who think they're fighting a culture war. Most of them never played BG. Actual low level adventure like BG1 is not feasible for mentally ill narcissists, either as devs or as players, they need marvel style action power fantasy in a setting that's centered on them or they get depressed. It's also why all the companions/origins are in a rat race for who's the biggest special snowflake.
The level cap for the campaign is 12, which definitely does not make it a "low level" campaign.
Levels 1-5 - you become a hero of bumfrick nowhere
Levels 6-10 - you become a hero of the local kingdom
Levels 11-15 - you become a hero of the realm
Levels 16-20 - you become a living legend who's probably plotting a bid for godhood already
Just as a quick piece of information to people who were shitposted into oblivion: BOTH of the Custom Origins (Tav and The Dark Urge) have unique content. The latter is almost certainly a Bhaalspawn, whilst the former has the entire "dream waifu/husbando" storyline. So no, the Dark Urge is not something with more content right out the gate.

Very similar to DOS2. Hard to say what launch will bring with the origin stories, but in EA players make custom characters. Whoever triggers a cutscene/talks to an NPC becomes the focal character, and the other players can watch just like in OS2 (and they can also recommend a dialog choice.)

Because it actually is bad. +1 across the board often has no impact on whether or not you hit your bonuses, which take +2 to a stat. And the very nature of 5e classes means that having +1 to every stat isn't actually that useful, as most classes use just one or two stats.
Humans were strong only because the Variant Human rule exists, which gives you a free feat at level 1 instead of waiting until level 4 like many other races would have to do. It also comes with a free proficiency, which normal Human does not.
Except BG3 runs on point buy, meaning your starting bonus will never hit +4 in anything anyway but your total positive scores will be better. It's much more conducive to MAD classes and multiclassing.
Human allows a 16/16/14/12/10/9 spread which no other race does. You miss out solely on a 17 cap which the +2 attribute races allow. Your stats across the board will be significantly higher which is much stronger for a whole bunch of classes.

No, what he refers to is some kind of lenient spell progression if you multiclass from arcane to arcane (like say, sorcerer to warlock) but half spellcaster classes should remain untouched imo. All of this is still unclear and I blame Larian for not being more transparent

I'm pretty sure what they're doing is the following standard 5e rules for spell slots but not following standard 5e rules for KNOWN spells.
Here's how 5e multiclassing between casters works:
>Your total caster level (cleric+druid+bard+wizard+sorcerer+ half and 1/4th casters give half and 1/4th of their levels for this) gives you your spell slots. So a level 10 wizard and a wizard 5/cleric 5 has level 5 spell slots.
>Your current class level (so each class is counted separately) gives you your spells KNOWN. So a level 10 wizard has level 5 spells. A level 6 sorcerer/level 4 wizard knows level 3 and level 2 spells.
So a level 3 sorc and level 3 cleric has level 3 spells slots, but only knows level 2 spells.
What bg3 is probably doing:

I don't know how I feel about that. I liked being able to frick around and take Pact of the Tome on a Hexblade and have that utility while still being mid-Gish. I also liked the extra hex/armor proficiencies Hexblade gave, and if they did that, that implies that's gone and they aren't planning to put it in down the line.
It's better like this. Hexblade is ridiculously broken and frontloaded which is why everyone, their cat and their grandma dips it.

Besides, I like the theming, too. You kind of lose the "living sword from the Raven Queen or other unknowable patron" compared to the other two things. I also, as stated, really love Pact of the Tome, but am not sure that's even in the game/would work as well in one, and if this lets me just run Fey Patron and get Misty Step free then frick it. I'll miss the armor proficiency, though. I just wanna play Elric or a knockoff Witcher, bros, every other Gish doesn't feel right, and I've been trying for years, tabletop and vidya.

I feel like Wyll is the only one thus far who has felt like a low level character. His story is much more grounded in comparison (monster hunter turned warlock wanting revenge on a goblin that tortured him), but overall it's still pretty... epic? Larian focus a lot on these massive character stories since DOS2, every companion is a special snowflake.
Larian devs are trannies, feminists and unironical proud cuckolds who think they're fighting a culture war. Most of them never played BG. Actual low level adventure like BG1 is not feasible for mentally ill narcissists, either as devs or as players, they need marvel style action power fantasy in a setting that's centered on them or they get depressed. Very similar to DOS2. Hard to say what launch will bring with the origin stories, but in EA players make custom characters. Whoever triggers a cutscene/talks to an NPC becomes the focal character, and the other players can watch just like in OS2 (and they can also recommend a dialog choice.)
